Some of you really don't…

Some of you really don't understand negotiations and process. It's presumptuous to think that Warde is on the outs here. . . Why? Harbaugh bought in an agent this year. He bought in his representative. Warde bought in Ono. And, looks like the good cop to Warde's bad cop. So, long as the deal gets done, there isn't anything to to warrant Warde's dismissal. 3rd place in the Directors Cup and an Athletic Department that arguably had its best season collectively in our lifetime. Financial security and rebound over Covid. I'm not sure where all this viotrol against Warde is coming from . . . but, it should really stop.

Lane Kiffin would be the guy…

Lane Kiffin would be the guy. He is going to win at the highest levels and would be an immediate upgrade in terms of recruiting. As good as we have been over the past two years, we have struggled recruiting talent.

Not obligated to you . . …

Not obligated to you . . . but to the recruits, he does have an obligation. They are making their financial AND playing decisions and need to know if the Coach is "ALL IN" or not.

I think Mora is a great…

I think Mora is a great coach. He would be on a short list of external candidates with Sean Payton.

Not accurate assessment of…

Not accurate assessment of Warde at all. He has brought many coaches and championships to the University. And, we are with the support of the Academics side, our best days are still in front of us. I would hope Harbaugh can be a part of that; but, if not, I'm sure Ward will find the best leader out there to move us forward.

It was his stupid playing…

It was his stupid playing calling the coaching prep that was behind the loss. He should be all about figuring out how to improve. . .  not looking at NFL jobs. This is putting this next recruiting class and J Davis and other targets at risk.

NFL teams don't care about…

NFL teams don't care about buyouts . . .they have $800 million in active buyout being paid out now currently according to the league office. If a team wants Harbaugh, they will buyout any sized deal.

Given Denver's draft and…

Given Denver's draft and contract situation, their next coach needs six years . . . as the next three would just be go get the heck out of these contracts and gets picks. They are deader than dead.

I think we can be better…

I think we can be better next year . . . but the question is what do we have to do to get 5* talent. The Culture and Team stuff is great . . . but, I don't think we play Geogia as well as Ohio State did. Talent can travel too. And, we need more of it. JJ and Edwards and WIll Johnson can't play every position. We need more talent. I am from the class of 95 and I remember the chances that the Fab 5 had to win National Championships and never did. This is one that this team will surely regret. Now, truthfully, I blame the bad coaching and playcalling . . . how do we know that Harbaugh retools enough to improve on the performance of these playoff games?  I hope he does.

We got owned on the defense…

We got owned on the defense and couldn't really make a stop that mattered until late. Sure, the offense wasn't good initially; but, you have to have good complementary football and the defensive side never really did enough. They couldn't stop their run and, while they contained Duggan, their inability to pressure the running back game was an issue all game long. It seemed like we would have been better off running a 3-3-5 compared to what we ran today . . . and when we did back off a bit and kept it in front of us, we had some success. Otherwise, we got owned by them.

The Philly Special on 4th…

The Philly Special on 4th down was the worst play ever. If you just have JJ or Edwards run it and they get stuffed; I could live with that. I would be pissed but the loss of yardage on a slow developing trick play was a morale killer and it smashed our psychee in that half. Why are we even running that play? And, why is a converted linebacker gettting the next goal line play there? Why isn't it Edwards or JJ taking it in? Again, go with what got you there. If you fail, so be it. But, this game . . . offensive pre-snap penalties, Edwards missing cuts, JJ not keeping it as much as probably should have. Just about the worst offensive performance that a team scoring 45 points could put up. Defense lost this game though.

But does this even exist at…

But does this even exist at any school now? I don't think there are schools that guarantee minimum base salaries. That may be the point of these collectives . . . but, this whole pay before you play seems bad and is something I'd rather avoid. There are QBs that won't play a down and will get making more money then 95% of the people on this board. And, a lot more money than the lineman blocking for them. That isn't right or fair or useful from a team culture perspective. Maybe I'm old school but I hope Michigan can thread this needle because doing what Texas A&M doesn't work.

But did we really expose any…

But did we really expose any flaws in his game? In 2022, He went 31-48, 2 tds, 349 yards 2 picks late in the game as it was slipping away. In 2021, he went 34-49, 2tds, 394 yards passing. In the NFL, against an NFL-type defense in Michigan, you would take these statlines all day long (minus the picks).

Most of you are wrong about…

Most of you are wrong about Stroud. . . . Let's not cloud our judgement due to our maize and blue glasses. I don't blame Stroud for the losses. He threw well enough and managed the offense fine. OSU paying cover zero didn't help. He made some big throws to great receivers.

I think an NFL team can build around Stroud. And, with Goff, the Lions could be patient and ease Stroud into the role.

Just make it like our Maize…

Just make it like our Maize Hockey Jerseys and I'd be fine with it.

This will evolve like the…

This will evolve like the NFL / AFL dynamic. SEC/BIG 12  vs. Big 10/PAC 10 . . . playoffs to the College Big Game . . . ugggh.

We will get a cut from the…

We will get a cut from the players, but we will get a much larger cut from brands looking for strategy, campaign creation, execution and tracking. That's where the business model is, at least from, my perspective.

I already have a marketing…

I already have a marketing agency that i've taken from $0 - to 500K in revenue in 8 months, with a goal of being in a 7 figure marketing agency by the end of the year. Only 1/2% of all marketing agencies eclipse the 1,000,000 revenue mark. So, my group is already unique. We do fractional CMO work, bringing strategy and operations and marketing technology to bear for our clients. So, what we offer is bringing a real marketing program perspective for businesses. It's not about the athletes being paid . . . it's going to be about putting deals together that actually work for the businesses. You can view our main offering here . . . index (hyperflywheel.com)

I'm not a wasting a launch…

I'm not a wasting a launch event, simply sharing the birth of idea with a group of like-minded individuals.

Those are the early KPIs,…

Those are the early KPIs, but for this to be successful, there is going to have to be real revenue turning KPIs that will have to be tracked. It will be like early social media but it will quickly goto those deals that can improve business. This year, though, it will be all about halo impact of sponsoring an individual or a group of individuals. The issue is that there will be athletes that don't realize the responsibility that comes with this . . . there will be real work expected, real hand shook at event, and real amounts of professional level endorsement work.

Message me at info @ hireacollegeathlete.com . . . For the naysayers, go ahead and laugh. We can get a lot of things going pretty quickly. The deal structures and use cases are going to be written over the next year.

So are you guys happy paying…

So are you guys happy paying $$$ for crappy teams at home. I am not. I would rather play UCLA than Hawaii and ECU. Watering down the schedule isn't going to more money out of my pocketbook. Meh! This is where college football is going to come up against the reality of the situation . . . I'm not paying $100+ per seat for a directional school.  That day of reckoning is fast approaching.

I think this team is weak…

I think this team is weak mentally from the Head Coach on down. If the players aren't performing, yank them and get in their girll and rip them a new one. Instead, we have 17 fumbles to our credit and the bad weather hasn't even hit yet. What are we going to do when it rains or snows? Harbaugh's teams don't hand adversity well. That 2nd half first 18 minutes were some of the worst football I have seen played on any level. Fumbles and a defense that laid down. WTF?  You are supposed to play 60 minutes and we played 40. Good enough to beat Illinois; we are going to get crushed by good teams. We have the talent to win, top 10 in the country; but, our game day coaching and mental preparedness and toughness by this still leave a lot to be desired.  Football is a game of emotion; and I don't seen enough of it on that sidelines. It seemed like we were content to take a 28-0 lead home with us and our guys quit and the coaches let them.  Hell, give me EMU's coach who looks like he is having fun out that there and competing over the "crap show" that I saw out there today.

Army should play up to their…

Army should play up to their skill level, which isn't high enough for us to worry about. They are disciplined; but, we will beat them in all facets of the game, including execution. Not worried at all.

The Powell PD covering up…

The Powell PD covering up for the local football coach. Like all good cover-ups, the latest revelation will get other journalists investigating.  And, more will come up. I don't believe this was address two weeks ago; but, the fact that it shows an active changing of arrest status shows that society simply doesn't address domestic violence well.  Let's be honest, Zach Smith should have been in jail a long time ago. And, the system (police and attorneys) have protected him and Urban Meyer and Ohio State. If this happened at our beloved school, I would want justice to be served. 3 game suspension is not justice. If it weren't for McMurphy, Zach Smith would still be employed and coaching on the sidelines today . . . think about that.

Explain. You don't know any…

Explain. You don't know any of these people. I see these kids working out and practicing at the park 9 months a year, taking bp in 45 degree weather. They are very representative of Michigan, good role models, hard workers, and more diverse than usual.  Not sure where you are going with this.  . .

I live in GPW, just down the…

I live in GPW, just down the street from Ghesquire Park, their home diamond. Their secret is that these kids are working with their dad and coaches 9 months out of the year. They are taking BP in 45 degrees in the spring and fielding in the fall in the fading light. The work ethic from these kids and their parents is championship-level.

Use a business model canvas

Use a business model canvas to understand how the elements fo the business work together to help you make a money.

Use the Vision/Traction Organizer of the EOS (Entrepruneur's Operating System) to get a start on the vison and align your daily, weekly, quarterly rocks and issues to your 1-3-10 year vision.

Yes, build a strong, compelling 10 year vision to keep you grounded and going forward, even when the suck comes  . . . and it will come.

Use lean development processes to figure out how to pitch and sell successfully. Fail Fast.  Good Luck!

Read this and use it!

I have been struggling with Epstein Barr . . . but, this book has helped me immensely. Read it, eat smart, and you will not only survive, you will thrive.

At some point, got create your own luck!

Here is the deal . . . we haven't been good in this span of time. Luck does have something to do with it . . . but, let's face it . . .Overall, we have been deficient in offensive line play and quarterback play . . . two areas were OSU has absolutely owned us.  I think Harbaugh has what it takes to reverse the trend, at least get us competitve. But, not this year.  It would take many fortuitous bounces  for us to win with this current team. Give them a year or two.

I Welcome Our Billionaire Overlords (Investors)

Without Illitch, Gilbert, Karmanos, Etc . . . Detroit would be a ghost town.

Today, The city has a lot of momentum.  Sure, the neighborhoods have issues and challenges . . . but, you don't go 50+ years of social and physcial decay without them.  But, the physical look and feel of downtown/midtown/rivertown, corktown, eastern market is getting better. We are seeing traction that I thought I would never see. I worked down there 10 years ago . . . now, I wish my office was located there.

At some point, these guys are controlling what they can control . . . They can put security in to augment the Police.  They are attracting younger people and empty nesters with amentities.  And, the quality of life has improved a lot.  The parks from Belle Isle west to the Bridge is killer.

Let's be thankful that post-bankruptcy renaiassance is actually receiving traction; There is plenty of room for everyone to benefit . . . from average janes and joes . . . to the Billionares.

Red Overstayed By At Least 5 Years

This is nothing new.  His teams have sucked for 5 years.  He had chances to go out on high notes . . . he never took them.  I've had it this hockey team. I won't go and watch crap hockey. When a club team 5 years out shoot is kicking our asses, it's time to go. I won't goto Yost until changes at the top are made . . . The Michigan Hockey Team should be winning the Big 10 every flippin year and making solid runs into the NCAA tournament.

Connor Cook Killing 5 Prostitutes

Connor Cook kiling 5 prostitutes is probably the biggest factor to his fall to round 4!

Ha! Losing at the end of the race . . . The Michigan Way

Sorry, still not over the football game.  Seeing this article puts me over the edge.  What ever this is . . . curse, hex, evil joke. . . . I want it all to go away.  Why can't my Michigan teams win an important game, an important race.

My High School Graduation was at The Dome

We had 15-20k people show up for it back in 1991. . . hate to see the facility like that.  At least they found some use for it.

MBA at Ross Makes Sense

MBA at Ross makes sense at nearly every level.  The breadth of courses and the networking abiltiy is beneficial immediately .  .  . but, what it can do in terms of helping your 10-25 years down the road is amazing.  A decade later and I have flexibility in terms of what I want to do and when I want to do it . . . There are more benefits than the money . . .  All that said, if you are going MBA, go Top 10 otherwise, the justification get's fuzzier.

Ross MBA #'s

IMO, those Ross numbers on the income side are probably skewed downward a bit; a good chunk of us Ross Alums  do willingly stay in Michigan.  Starting salaries in Michigan are a tad lower than elsewhere; but, the low cost of living and relatively high salaries Post-MBA make it tough to leave Michigan.  An MBA should be considered an investment . . . but recognize that 500-1000 a month payments for 30 years isn't fun.  Still, I'd do it all over again . . . Ross has been great!

We need a guy from Montana!

They can handle the snow and cold.

Something about that pissed off, re-incarnated Fire Bird on the hood!

Grosse Pointe Woods

I work in Dearborn and live in Grosse Pointe Woods.  We do love it here. Great schools, homes with character, great City Park on water with a crazy pool.  There are also plenty of places to eat and drink.  If you love the water, hang out at the marina bars and take in the Nautical Mile in St. Clair Shores (9 mile and Jefferson).  And, you can do running and biking along Lakeshore.  And, the schools are great.  Yes, You can get the house you want for $180,000 or less.  1500 sq feet, 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths.  Look in the area just east of I-94,  west of Mack, South of Vernier, North of Moross.  Just be careful to avoid Harper Woods (unless you want the same house for a lot lower price . . . those make great rental properties but not so if you plan to own a home).  And, keep in touch as I might put my house for rent as I'm in a process to potentially move to Seattle.  Good Luck.

Were frats ever this bad in your youth?

Something has happened in the last 20 years.  I was not a frat brother; but, I had many friends and went to many parties.  There were always things going on . . . but, this generation doesn't seem to be able to handle Greek life.  Are kids really that immature now?  What happened to conducting yourself with class or, at the very least, not harming property and life>

Where is the respect for elders, property, humanity?  It is very scary that some of the most educated people in our society, the ones going to school and these frats, have seemingly lost their minds.  If frats con't be the valuable, caring institutions that they portend to be, then they've outlived their usefulness and should be shut down.  And, that would be a shame.

Hoke will finally bring a brand back to life . . . BIG BOY!

Hoke brings Big Boy to life and is credited with reviving a stagnant but historical brand.  Big Boy will rebound across the country and around the world.

Lions Game Crowd Much Better Behaved

Ford Field is a great place to watch a Lions or NFL game.  And, the crowd is usually pretty good.  I wish I could attend . . . Should be fun.  And, that's a great, cheap way to watch a pro game.

Why no Ford Field?

Bankruptcy is probably the main thing.  Now that the process is over and there is some semblance leadership at City Hall, you might see them go after the final.  But, the Wings stadium will surely be a big draw for those two rounds.

Note: Hunter Lochmann hasn't tweeted much this year!

Check it out . . . he was active last year.  This year . . . not much after Notre Dame.  IMO, an interesting sign. He may be a casualty along with Hoke by year's end.  https://twitter.com/HunterLochmann

Here my Leadership Post on Linkedin!

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/article/20140909152129-42399-brady-hoke-…

Let me know what you think and follow me there if you are so inclined.

Leadership Thoughts: Lots have been made about the football coach at Michigan. In his 4th year, he is struggling with a team of young, supposedly talented individuals. Hoke has been a prolific recruiter. As both an assistant and head coach, He has brought a lot of talent to Ann Arbor and excels at recruiting kids and selling parents. He maybe the ultimate player's coach, a friend, but that does not always translate into taking players to a different level and molding a team. . . That's an altogether different skill entirely.

Now, Herb Brooks is one of my favorite all-time coaches. As a player, you may not have liked him; actually, you probably hated him . . .but he made you go beyond your limits and made you better. People call this a "hard edge" and I'd propose that most successful coaches and CEO's will have a "hard edge" to them of varying degrees. Check out this brief 2:50 video of what he did and why he was successful.
