Can he coach basketball?

Can he coach basketball?

Not that I’m calling for him…

Not that I’m calling for him, but had Beilein stayed, the potential 2021 roster could’ve been (had he kept his recruits):

Isaiah Livers, Eli Brooks, Austin Davis, Brandon John’s, David DeJulius, Collin Castleton, Zeb Jackson, Franz Wagner, Cole Bajema, and Jalen Wilson. That roster would have been his best IMO and honestly looking back explains Howard’s 1 year success. Castleton was all SEC, Wilson was a key cog in Kansas winning it all and a draft pick, Wagner a lotto pick, Livers a draft pick, and Davis and Brooks were perfect program guys you need for a locker room and depth. That roster is 10 deep easy!

Idk Howard had Martelli on…

Idk Howard had Martelli on his bench all these years…

Arguably the second best UM…

Arguably the second best UM running back behind only his prodigy Corum. A national champion coach, All-American player, has his degree from here, helluva recruiter and developer of the running back position, helped earn  wins over OSU, intern coached a game, and he can leave as an ultimate Michigan Man. Best of luck wherever coaching takes you Mike Hart!

Honestly his comp is Zach…

Honestly his comp is Zach Wilson at BYU (not Jets). Similar build, similar play style at, hell even same haircut. I think character and leadership skill wise JJ is light years ahead of Wilson, and having played for Harbaugh ran NFL concepts in college so it’ll be less of a learning curve. The Russell Wilson and Jim Harbaugh comps also are pretty accurate IMO.

I do know the “known friends…

I do know the “known friends and trusted agents” portion of Brian’s write ups of football games can be replaced with Moore’s post PSU game “I love the shit out of you guys” for game MVPs or standouts.

Just saw the Clink news,…

Just saw the Clink news, that’s not gonna bode well for Michigan.

Fuck

Fuck

Living in SW Ohio I am a die…

Living in SW Ohio I am a die hard Bengals fan, but before Burrow my “playoff team of interest” was New England cause of Brady. In NFC I like Rams for McVay and Rams colors. Lions also have a soft spot simply cause their franchise was cursed much like Bengals franchise so that’s like our sister franchise.

Had a string of extremely…

Had a string of extremely talented pieces (Carbonnet, Latu) but they were a 7-8 win team that relied on its defense. LOS play is ok, QB development lackluster, Chip is far from what he used to be.

Let’s poach their players…

Let’s poach their players from the portal!

Not shocked since he, Day,…

Not shocked since he, Day, and their OL coach all worked together on prior staffs. Better OC than BoB but idk if it move the needle per say considering Chip’s hatred for recruiting, philosophical differences to Day, and his lack of toughness at LOS relative to what Michigan has brought.

Surprised Sparty

Surprised Sparty didn’t push for their spring game to be held there, in honor of their fav trivia topic.

Id imagine with Moore being…

Id imagine with Moore being a first time HC, it might help ease his worries knowing both his coordinators aren’t first time coordinators calling the shots. Minter called the shots on defense last two years, Clink didn’t and Wink has. Campbell has been an OC for programs in the past, plus our new TE coach was a OC. A year with Clink being more involved and learning will be huge. Clink has coached under McDonald and Minter, he should be ready.

Dad worked all week and I…

Dad worked all week and I got to bond with him on weekends, and we’d watch football. He was a Michigan fan, and I liked their uniforms and wanted to bond with him. First game I watched was 2006 THE GAME, and so all I knew was pain as a fan. Last 3 years have been Valhalla for Dad and I to experience. My favorite part of football season is while games are on either driving to watch with him, or him calling me on the phone and we basically talk the entire game about what we are watching, our lives, and so on.

2015 MSU- I think this hurt…

2015 MSU- I think this hurt most

2015 Bengals loss in wild car to Pittsburgh

2016 OSU

2018 OSU

2021 Bengals Super Bowl loss

22 Bengals AFCC loss to chiefs

Fire Warde.

In all…

Fire Warde.

In all seriousness I’m not surprised considering we lost our coach and staff is barely filled out I can’t blame him. Plus he won’t join campus till like 2026, I am not worried about a kid who has two years till he joins campus and then probably another to get back into game shape from his mission.

Something I noticed from his…

Something I noticed from his interview on the Herd and Eisen’s show is Jim seems more loose, relaxed, and frankly happier. He has a more jovial demeanor like when he started here, I think the stress of OSU, NCAA, and cycle of CFB got to him. Happy for him but JJ is a project, not the #1 pick, he will need time to develop IMO

Happy bday Coach Moore!…

Happy bday Coach Moore! Kinda hard to find a bday gift that can top being a national champ and undefeated as a coach (especially two top ten wins and a victory over OSU).

Gonna miss him but with…

Gonna miss him but with Moore and Paige returning and Sabb coming on in bowl season, it’s good to get younger guys like Berry and Hillman snaps or they portal out.

Not necessarily. We are…

Not necessarily. We are assuming Hart is wanting to be an OC and is no longer satisfied with his role as is. He may be promoted to run game coordinator or something to help contribute.

Probably best case for…

Probably best case for continuity, plus QBs/players seem to like him. I hope they promote Hart to like “run game coordinator” if Hart is feeling passed over to keep him involved and appreciated. Time to find a DC, TE, S, LB, and ST coach!

I would love for my Bengals…

I would love for my Bengals to draft Wilson or Corum in second-third round range. Need new RBs and slot receiver.

Missing bacon bits and…

Missing bacon bits and spinach as some good toppings. Also you considering stuff like Parmesan cheese or red pepper flakes as toppings or add ons? We need to know

My top 10 games from…

My top 10 games from Harbaugh, both from enjoyment, importance, and just vibes:

10. MSU 2019

9. Wisconsin 2016

8. PSU 2022

7. Notre Dame 2019

6. PSU 2023

5. Washington 2023

4. OSU 2022

3. Bama 2023

2. OSU 2023

1. OSU 2021

Amazing how many were in last three years.

Honestly I doubt an NFL DC…

Honestly I doubt an NFL DC will come here. We lost our NFL pipeline. As good as Michigan is in CFB, we are still college. NFL guys may not want to deal with “amateur” football especially losing Harbaugh who modeled the program after the NFL.

WD? Is that you?

WD? Is that you?

Id imagine many players…

Id imagine many players figured this would happen. The fact that Moore, Paige, Stewart, and Edwards all elected to return probably indicates that they were made aware Moore is the HC, staff shakeups are afoot, and that they can play a pivotal role in repositioning the program as leaders. We may lose a player in the portal, I expect it. It’s the price of being good and losing a coach, it was bound to happen with Harbaugh at some point. Also he’s allowed to take his staff, he owes Michigan nothing more, and if our staff is good enough to all go to the NFL, it shows how well coached and prepped the players were. Can’t be mad at coaches like players wanting to go pro.

Nice to see those guys there…

Nice to see those guys there, and the fact they are all the upperclassmen. Keeping that player led vibes and unity going.

Not gems but holy shit…

Not gems but holy shit Batman, Courtney Morgan hauled in Mason Graham, Keon Sabb, Zeke Berry, Jayden Denegal ALL IN ONE CLASS! Bing him back ASAP

Jay Harbaugh is responsible…

Jay Harbaugh is responsible for Corum, Haskins, Charbonnet, Edwards, Loveland, Asiasi, Mckeon. Some legends for sure!

I mean since he was co-OC,…

I mean since he was co-OC, it’s been Sprague, Frazier, Morris, Morgan, Gentry. And it’s more of “this is my team, I know what I am seeking and can offer you this/that”. Idk who came here because Moore was OC, but to be fair I doubt more than 20% of commits choose the team strictly off a coordinator. The linemen he’s brought in have looked good since he became co-OC, not including transfers like Olu, Hinton, Nugent, Henderson

That’s fair, in the past I…

That’s fair, in the past I know coaches can sell “if you thought we were good before, wait till I really take over, come and join and kickstart this”. I’d imagine even in NIL (and potentially backing from boosters as landscape shifts further) we may elevate some of our recruiting.

Please don't imply we hire…

Please don't imply we hire the football equivalent of Juwan...

Damn you Warde.

Damn you Warde.

Considering the NCAA awarded…

Considering the NCAA awarded Michigan the title saying it was "earned" and their thorn for revenue sharing and general defiance is gone, they will back off most likely, especially since they came out against FSU and others for recruiting violations. NCAA got the best end of the deal: a big brand blue blood winning the title and in the news year round, their annoyance gone and allowing them to continue status quo.

Herbert signed a 5 year,…

Herbert signed a 5 year, multi million dollar deal last offseason making him one of the wealthiest S&C coaches in the country, and if the retain Moore I'd imagine he stays in AA. I am not sure if NFL and CFB S&C practices and expectations transfer over well, and if NFL guys want to deal with the intensity and regimen Herbert demands and teaches. Plus if I'm Herbert, I don't recruit guys, I just mold them, and get to run it without someone looking over my shoulder or objecting.

That was all prior to…

That was all prior to Harbaugh being signed by LA. Things may change, especially knowing if Fangio goes to LA he has a longer leash than Philly, who almost fired their coach for winning 11 games after losing a close Super Bowl. Familiarity and low pressure (along with nicer living area) may be just enough to entice Fangio.

With Persi behind on two…

With Persi behind on two deep last two years with a start, plus Gentry being like 24 years old I’d imagine one of those two have marinated enough to step up, similar with Crippen and El-Hadi.

They may have Orji start…

They may have Orji start with the plan to bring Davis slowly in like JJ in 2021 with packages for him. Orji will be a junior this next year, his potential is off the charts and exciting if he can harness it.

Only reason I say top 15 is…

Only reason I say top 15 is our schedule. Plus if JJ stays I believe that will assure some older player will transfer to be WR target like Daylen Baldwin in 2021 (who was a UDFA and stuck around the league for a few years with the Browns). That level of transfer is plausible and welcome!

QB: Davis/Orji

RB: Marshall…

QB: Davis/Orji

RB: Marshall, Mullings, Hall

WR: Morris, Morgan, Moore????

TE: Loveland, Bredeson, Klein, Tonieli

OL: Persi, El-Hadi, Crippen, Priebe, Hinton

DL: Graham, Benny, Grant, Pierce

Edge: Moore, Guy, Bennett

LB: Rolder, Hauserman, Barnham, Hood

CB: Johnson, McBurrows, Hill, Waller

S: Sabb, Johnson, Berry

If they get JJ back, Edwards, Stewart, and Paige this team is a top 10-15 team next year. They need some depth at WR, edge, corner, safety, and QB. That and we forget: some freshmen can come in and contribute faster than expected, and some guys have had to sit behind others and can be developed more than we think.

Damn I thought we could get…

Damn I thought we could get him. We need some guys to step up at WR or portal a guy in. Probably doesn’t help no one knows if either coach or QB will come back, and who’s gonna replace them.

Cannot believe they are…

Cannot believe they are parting ways after going 9-8. At his age Pete may be done coaching but interesting if he will join front office for Seattle or another franchise, or even media.

OSU seems to be doing a…

OSU seems to be doing a Michigan 2023: all chips in. So far only Hall and Harrison seem to be leaving. Henderson, Egbuka, and JTT still haven’t committed to returning or leaving yet. With Burke, Sawyer, Williams, and others means their defense will return nasty again next year.

What’s nice is Morris is…

What’s nice is Morris is poised for a bigger role, and he and JJ were teammates. Especially if Harbaugh leaves along with Corum, ZZ, co, JJ may have to truly carry the load of the offense, especially with The Don coming back passing attack may have to be featured more till Mullins, Marshall, and co get their footing.
