I fully believe that if…

I fully believe that if harbaugh was the AD he would’ve fired harbaugh the coach after the covid year. The record against non-osu rivals was not great, and the record agains osu was shit. The Covid year had a lot of challenges, but to get beaten by the worst msu team I’ve ever seen, and take some OT to beat Rutgers was not a good sign.

So his contract was extend with a lower base pay, and incentives to make top 5 salaries. A cursory look at some internet sources show that he made more than Lincoln in 2021 with bonuses considered.  So why didn’t Jim go to another team who would appreciate him more after the 2020 season?  Why didn’t he jump to the nfl?

It’s because no one gave him a better offer. I don’t like warde and want him to be fired, but I hate the narrative that Michigan didn’t show jim enough love. No major programs wanted jim after 2020. Shit, I’d say most Michigan didn’t want him. But the athletic department had faith in him and gave him the opportunity to be a top 5 college coach.

The coaching changes and the…

The coaching changes and the leadership of the players were the biggest drivers. Not the SC coach. I’ll miss Ben, and I think he’s a big part of the success, but you’re right… it was the coaching changes, and player choices that got Michigan to the top.

Let’s go boys.

Let’s go boys.

Remind me of the good works…

Remind me of the good works please.

I’d rather hear some coach…

I’d rather hear some coach speak that touches upon coming together to get common goals. I’d like to hear him take responsibility for not fostering the right environment.

Like Brian said multiple times, they got rid of one of their biggest defensive liability and brought in 2 transfers from teams that had good defenses, and our defense is garbage.

its mostly a coaching issue. He should own that.

Exactly. Theres validity to…

Exactly. Theres validity to NIL and transfer issues hindering our team, but for fucks sake we’re last in the big 10.

There are plenty of teams in our conference that are doing way more will less resources. It’s a coaching problem. Period.

I hated that guy when I was…

I hated that guy when I was younger

At this stage, I really don…

At this stage, I really don’t see any other viable options. Who else is really out there right now?

Theres not some secret coach…

Theres not some secret coach out there that we don’t all know about. So out of all the coaches who do you pick. What’s your top 5?

I’m just hoping for a sign…

I’m just hoping for a sign that  says “urban cheats more as a coach than he does as a husband.”

I also question what type of…

I also question what type of vetting would’ve weeded Stallions out. Naval academy grad, marine, and was completely dedicated to Michigan.  Yeah, he was probably obsessed with Michigan to an unhealthy degree, but how exactly do you identify that in the hiring process?

I watched the post game…

I watched the post game interview about 5 times, and I’m still unsure if he dropped some F bombs

The dude is a dipshit, but…

The dude is a dipshit, but man… can you imagine being in love with something so much, and trying your absolute best to make it something special (although stupidly) only to have your efforts potentially destroy it?

I’m not giving him a pass, nor am I saying that this will destroy Michigan. I just feel bad for him in a way.  Even though the sports-fan side of me hates him, I hope he has help and support to help him through the rough days ahead.

The worst thing about…

The worst thing about signgate/signspy so far is me agreeing with Brian Kelly

He’s my guy.  I liked him as…

He’s my guy.  I liked him as a WR and fucking love him as a DB. He’s my dude

Jj isn’t going to do that…

Jj isn’t going to do that against Rutgers.  And if he does, they still won’t lose. Terrible take

No shit. God forbid a QB…

No shit. God forbid a QB puts his past mistakes behind him. Does this clown really want a sullen qb leading his team?

No kidding. I’m amazed that…

No kidding. I’m amazed that people think this is some well crafted letter written by a lawyer. Any lawyer would just tell his client to stfu.  At best this was written with a sub par PR consultant trying to rally the msu base. They didn’t even spell Nassars name correctly.

I feel like Mel has more…

I feel like Mel has more than one pic of him sitting on a literal throne. Those types of dudes aren’t going to admit a loss of ability to lead.

I’d bet that Mel honestly thinks he did nothing wrong, and that she was “asking for it.”

We absolutely do not.

We absolutely do not.

I was at that game. I have a…

I was at that game. I have a friend that lives behind pioneer, so I always park there. Walking up to the stadium just felt different. A light snow falling, and the air felt crisp.  Everything felt electric.

A friends friend had two extra tickets, and gave them to us for face value. I almost didn’t go. I was sure OSU was going to absolutely destroy us, but I couldn’t pass up the OSU experience for only 150 bucks.

I was skeptical up until I started walking to the stadium. After passing over seventh st, my whole attitude changed. I looked at my homeboy and told him that this felt special.

I’ve never been in a crowd that’s been so fucking amped up. It was the loudest I’ve ever heard the big house. There was an unreal amount of positive energy from the drop. There were so many osu false starts, and even though it’s been since downplayed, there’s no doubt in my mind that the crowd caused that.

I often tell people that it was the best day of my life. They’ll usually respond with something like “after you got married, or when your kid was born?”  My answer is always an emphatic no. Those were great moments in my life, but nothing will ever compare to that surreal feeling at the big house in late November 2021

JD is my favorite, thanks…

JD is my favorite, thanks for the heads up. Also, I wouldn’t say he’s obscure. He might not be super mainstream, but he produced a lot for commons first mainstream album as well as busta and qtip.

Which college in Iowa are you referencing?  It's not the Hawkeyes, who are 4-4 in the last 8 years, with its most recent loss being last year.

He didn't even specifically…

He didn't even specifically call out Michigan in that interview.  The question he answered was something like "What do you like about Tennessee?"

I’ve seen several tweets…

I’ve seen several tweets from former players saying  something along the lines of “the truth will come out.”  There’s a bit of concern for me, since it’s happened a few times, but that’s completely overshadowed by the fact that no bombshell has ever been released.

it’s also a bad look to say some shit like that. It reminds me of 2010s Facebook when someone would post some vague semi negative message saying something like, “ why does everything bad happen to me?” And then say “I don’t want to talk about it” when people ask what’s going on.

If my son was truly wronged by a program, I’d call it the fuck out.  You’re already burning bridges with the cryptic tweet, so just call it out.

I saw that too. It almost made me shed a tear

Exactly.  Also, Mel has…

Exactly.  Also, Mel has publicly taken responsibility for the incident, and has not been blaming anything on Michigan. So Bert agreeing with Mel doesn't mean he's blaming anything on Harbaugh or UM either.

God, I can't believe OP is making me defend Bert.  I need to take a shower now because I feel so gross.

Yeah, it makes me chuckle…

Yeah, it makes me chuckle when I hear on podcasts about “this will be a good game for JJ to pass more” or “we can use pass to open up the run”

It’s almost certainly not going to happen like that. We are going to impose our will at the line of scrimmage and run it down their throats. It’s the biggest strength of our team and it works. I don’t understand why people are surprised or upset when it happens.

I get the concerns about the red zone, and the benefits of having a more balanced attack  I also get that passing is fun and exciting.   It the thing is that it works.  Even against OSU.  Michigan has completely crushed and broken the souls of the last 3 rivals we’ve played  (I’m including PSU here, even though they’re not really a rival).  And personally, i think destroying  a teams morale to the point where they act like little bitches in the tunnel is a hell of a lot more fun than 400 yards passing

Hey they didn’t get shut out! #defeatedwithdignity

I think it's good that he…

I think it's good that he didn't pull a Brian Kelly and blame his players.  It's good for a coach to take responsibility, but I'm shocked that he said it the WAY that he did.

I completely understand "I didn't put the boys in a position to succeed" or something like that.  But to call himself horseshit...

Absolutely elite.  Tho I do…

Absolutely elite.  Tho I do question the rationale of putting dj turner as your return man up 45 points in the 3rd.

I'm with you, man.  He…

I'm with you, man.  He called an unusual situation unusual, I don't see the problem with it.  He didn't have a happy-go-lucky tone, but I also didn't feel an abundance of negativity.

It also has to be really annoying to consistently be asked about JJ in like 80% of  your interviews.

I guess that's what you…

I guess that's what you would like him to be thinking, but he didn't say one word about not being happy with competing for a job that he believes should be his.

And then FIRE HIM AGAIN

And then FIRE HIM AGAIN

I’ve gone to 3 or 4 games a…

I’ve gone to 3 or 4 games a year for the past 15 years or so. Ann Arbor just felt different from the moment I rolled in there.

I didn’t watch any 2021 game live other than the ones I went to. I was as apathetic and pessimistic as possible after the 2020 MSU game. When my friend asked me if I wanted to buy his other ticket at face value. I almost said no because I thought it’d be another blood bath.

But thw minute I parked at my friends house on Woodlawn, and started walking down stadium, it just felt electric. It was cool and calm, but charged up. It sounds corny but I got a feeling in my bones that this was something special. The whole experience was magical.

I walked by her at a party…

I walked by her at a party and she said “I like your shoes.” They were the white on blue Nike Cortez. Same ones George Costanza wore. We chatted it up and I got her number. We hung out a few times, but a few of my close gal pals hated her because their exes had a crush on her. I ended up ghosting her.

10 years later I found her on Facebook and I started looking through her pics. She has this pic of her in a bikini and it just drove me wild. I messaged her and we started talking.  I almost fucked it up again a few more times in the beginning, but she was persistent. I’m glad she was because she’s the best thing that ever happened to me

This is probably one of the…

This is probably one of the biggest parts of the equation, and I haven't seen it mentioned a lot (but I haven't been checking the board that often recently.)

Honestly though, it's clearly a combination of things:

  •   Coaching turnover is HUGE.  Genius defensive coordinator leaves who also hated recruiting leave, the coach responsible for the killer DL leaves... Our OC, who was assistant coach of the year leaves, and kind of burns bridges on the way out.
  • Harbaughs flirtation with the NFL didn't help, and probably contributed to the turnover at OC.  The shine and glamor of michigan was instantly overshadowed by controversy
  • NIL isn't being used like it is at other schools
  • ND getting a super charismatic coach
  • MSU getting a charismatic coach that has embarrassed michigan 2 years in a row
