Let…

Please not Loeffler.

Let’s either keep the current gap-based system in place or bring in someone like Moorhead

Georgia

Georgia

Never stop wearing that…

Never stop wearing that outfit on game day.

They’d be dumb not to want…

They’d be dumb not to want him, so it should really come down to Jim and whether he wants to:

1. Try to win a Super Bowl

2. Try to win us another Natty

Like a lot of people, I think he’s going back to the NFl. He played in the league for ages and, being the competitor he is, probably wants to see if he can be the 3rd coach (that I’m aware of) to win it all at both the college and pro levels.

That said, the thing about Harbaugh is that he follows his heart. If he’s decided to stay in Ann Arbor, no offer or argument will sway him.

I do feel confident that Moore would be an excellent replacement - and he might even be able to keep most of the staff together. We joke about Ryan Day leading the 3rd base index but ideally you do want the internal promotion to start with as big an advantage as possible.

So I was just watching… So I was just watching highlights of old Michigan games and the 1989 Rose Bowl against USC was one of them. It came late in Bo’s tenure, but we actually ran a bunch of plays out of the wishbone in that one.
These are being reported as …

These are being reported as “major penalties” but as far as I can see one assistant got a show cause, they have to cut ties with one booster and they’ll pay a small fine + probation.

I’m not criticizing the NCAA here - these are better penalties than vacating wins, postseason bans, etc. They have decided not to punish the student athletes who were not involved. Good on them.

(Also, I’m guess our penalties for signgate are this but with a larger fine.)

34-27 Michigan. Washington…

34-27 Michigan. Washington falls behind and makes a late rally that comes up short.

I have similar tied to both…

I have similar ties to both schools, but my first loyalty is and always will be for Michigan. That said, the beauty of this matchup (for me) is that there are no truly bad outcomes. Michigan winning would be a dream come true; Washington winning would be, at worst, mildly disappointing.

Still can’t believe it worked out like this.

Go Blue!

I’d rather play Texas. UW…

I’d rather play Texas. UW has a better offense and, though UT’s DTs are insanely good, no one else on that defense is more than average. Penix and those WRs are a unique challenge this year, and their defense - while not elite - is “good enough.”

Still think we win the game either way but UW makes me more nervous.

Now, all that said, I’m happy UW won. Classic Rose Bowl matchup for the win.

Ah okay, gotcha. Hope it is…

Ah okay, gotcha. Hope it is them though!

SIAP, but I saw on Twitter…

SIAP, but I saw on Twitter that Deadspin is now reporting it’s OSU under investigation

The problem with those…

The problem with those defenses was they were badly coached. The exact same players were 10x better after Mattison came to campus.

Yup. It’s been 25+ years in…

Yup. It’s been 25+ years in the making as well.

Maybe he likes horses and…

Maybe he likes horses and bourbon

I got my tickets on Stub Hub…

I got my tickets on Stub Hub. Very little markup and managed the chairs (vs bench).

Who else is going?

I’m thinking 20-6 Michigan…

I’m thinking 20-6 Michigan. A tedious slog where the offensive starters stay in all game but the defensive starters come out in the 4th.

I’ve watched a lot of UW…

I’ve watched a lot of UW football this year, and believe me they are a lot more dangerous on offense than OSU (or anyone we’ve played).

Actually they are more like previous OSU teams that spread you out and put their best athletic playmakers in space. But also like recent OSU teams, their defense can be had.

We can beat them, but it will be a different kind of challenge than we’ve faced this year.

Hey, sorry for posting…

Hey, sorry for posting something that was already posted (I didn’t see it; my bad).

But FYI I put “their Brian” in quotes because I think Ramzy is the closest thing they have to a Brian (ie good writer, OG contributor and generally smart guy). But I don’t think he’s close to real Brian on any of those points.

After the past 3 weeks I…

After the past 3 weeks I think Knowles is a better DC than Diaz. At least against us he is

I’m…confused. Where’s the…

I’m…confused. Where’s the referendum?

It feels like a fake news…

It feels like a fake news account to me. Too good to be true usually is.

That said, happy to be wrong here.

People undervalue matchups…

People undervalue matchups. Some teams are just built to beat other teams. When Don Brown came to Ann Arbor, he came with a defense designed to stop Urban Meyer's read option offense. When Day came to Columbus, he brought an NFL-style passing offense designed to stretch Don Brown's defense. When MacDonald and Minter came to Ann Arbor, they brought an NFL-style defense designed to stop Day's NFL-style passing offense.

We will see how it goes this year, but in 2021 and 2022 it was 100% a case of Michigan being designed to beat OSU.

Yeah, I'm at the point where…

Yeah, I'm at the point where I want us to clean out anyone who was involved in this. I DO NOT think the scheme added a major competitive advantage, but I DO think the people involved exposed our program to a huge amount of risk and negative PR - and that's not forgivable for me.

Kelly would be a good OC for…

Kelly would be a good OC for PSU but he wouldn't stick around long.

My guess is that they want…

My guess is that they want to keep in reserve the ability to ban Michigan from the 2024 Big 10 Championship Game. That would be dependent on what the NCAA finds/does.

Love Chait when he’s writing…

Love Chait when he’s writing about Michigan. Mixed bag when he’s not.

Correction: a middle finger…

Correction: a middle finger to Pete Thamel.

Why on earth would Hartline…

Why on earth would Hartline go from being OC of a top 5 program nationally to OC of a program that is barely top 5 in the Big 10?

Hey Mods - the Tru Stage ads…

Hey Mods - the Tru Stage ads make content unreadable. It's really terrible.

Did he mean to say Suleiman…

Did he mean to say Suleiman the Magnificent? If so, that’s already a super weird (but cool) comparison to make

Yes they are better, top 10…

Yes they are better, top 10 in SP+ prior to this game - and we’ve often struggled in Happy Valley. I expect a much closer game than if we played them in Ann Arbor.

(Allar also went into this game completing like 20% more at home than away.)

I thought the tiebreaker was…

I thought the tiebreaker was cumulative conference record of Big 10 West opponents?

I think at PSU is going to…

I think at PSU is going to be harder for us than at home vs. OSU, so in that context I guess I'd rather OSU win.

1. Georgia

2. Michigan

3…

1. Georgia

2. Michigan

3. Washington

4. Oklahoma

5. PSU

6. Oregon

7. FSU

8. OSU

9. Texas

10. USC

Worth sharing where "Big 18"…

Worth sharing where "Big 18" QBs rank in the top 50:

1. JJ McCarthy (Michigan)

3. Michael Penix (Washington)

5. Kaleb Williams (USC)

6. Kyle McCord (OSU)

16. Bo Nix (Oregon)

26. Taulia Tagovailoa (Maryland)

27. Gavin Wimstatt (Rutgers)

29. Drew Allar (PSU)

49. Athan Kaliakmanis (Minny)

Michigan beats everyone.

Michigan beats everyone.

If Clemson leaves the ACC,…

If Clemson leaves the ACC, then the SEC is the natural destination. SEC probably also eyeing FSU and/or Miami.

...which would lead Notre Dame to opt out of their quasi-membership. Obviously getting ND to join the Big 10 would be good for us, and having USC in the conference probably makes that idea more attractive - but I'll also believe it when I see it.

My guess is that it ends up…

My guess is that it ends up being Narduzzi. They don’t think they had a culture problem under Dantonio, despite how it looks to outsiders. And Narduzzi has done about as well at Pitt as you can expect someone to do at Pitt, so it feels like a natural play for them.

It would seem obvious to…

It would seem obvious to most people, but I guess some dudes out there need to be reminded that even flirting isn’t an open invitation to masturbate on a video call.

I trawled through several…

I trawled through several RCMB threads for laughs and found that almost no one was defending Tucker. Most seem glad he’s going to be shown the door. The words “con man” and “grifter” were used frequently.

Yes, it can be a haven for mouth breathing, but in this case it doesn’t seem to be.

Michigan put about 60%…

Michigan put about 60% effort into this one.

People dislike Deion for the…

People dislike Deion for the same reason the Feinbaums of the world dislike Harbaugh: they don't like the way he attracts and then basks in the media spotlight, so want him to be taken down a peg - then get frustrated by the fact that he can back his talk up.

(Just to get ahead of things...no, I'm not saying Deion and Harbaugh are the same - I'm saying they get hated on for similar reasons.)

He and that game deserve…

He and that game deserve each other.

One of the others would have…

One of the others would have been a miss from 10 more yards out.

A Freep article on this…

A Freep article on this showed up on Google News (no I will not link). The headline is super passive-aggressive, even for them:

Amid suspension news, Michigan's Jim Harbaugh delivers 6-minute monologue about revenue sharing

Oh what a scandal that Harbaugh is talking about players being fairly compensated for the labor they produce when he really should have been focused on #burgergate. Oh the humanity.

This list makes me cringe…

This list makes me cringe. Aside from Prince and The Boss.

Occurred to me that he may…

Occurred to me that he may have also faked his own death. Though most likely he was assassinated. Not sure how he could have thought this would end any other way.

I hope we don't just go 12-0…

I hope we don't just go 12-0, but stomp everyone brutally along the way. So like last year but with some extra stomping.

The main problem with RR was…

The main problem with RR was that he didn’t care about defense, or didn’t know how to care about defense. The offense worked fine.
