Operating under a similar assumption, this is the route I went for the Rose Bowl and it ended up somewhat backfiring. My friend and I sat in section 28L and, other than two UM fans to my immediate left (who unfortunately seemed to be out of their seats more than they were in them), we were surrounded by Bammers.
There ended up really only being one total a**hole two rows directly behind us, who I ended up chirping back at a time or two, but most everyone else seemed normal/sane. I will say that it did (minimally) impact my experience, as I tried to restrain myself and my excitement a bit at times out of respect for those aforementioned "decent" Bama fans.
Not sure what the price difference is for next week as I can't make the trip to Houston, nor do I know your financial situation obviously, but if I could do it again, I'd pay the extra couple hundred bucks to be in a Michigan section. Good luck!
