Is the intent that you are already admitted to U of M, then take intro courses somewhere else, or that you takes the courses somewhere else, and you know what transfers?
That's a thing I'm wondering - if we're not looking near campus, is AA basically any other suburb? Sometimes as I'm thinking about it, it feels small town with not much there, but sometimes I think everything seems to be nearby and easy to get to compared to Chicago suburbs. So, I dunno.

I agree, we're not looking to relive our college years with this, so you're totally right that we don't need to be downtown or even close to it, but we are thinking of Ann Arbor schools. That leaves houses in some areas I'm pretty familiar with (south and west) and some I'm not (north). It does seem like Saline is cheaper, but not sure about the schools, and also feels a little more rural from looking at Google maps.
The lake and beach don't do much for me, but being close to Devon is nice. But a lot of the reason to stay in the Chicago area is to be close to family in the west and south suburbs, so Evanston is kinda out because of that.

Definitely not, that's a simplification. We both went to Michigan, and are from Michigan, and like it, and have family reasons to choose it, so it's not like we're thinking "if we could live anywhere, where would it be" it's more like "does it make sense to move to Michigan or stay in Chicago"
It is, but we're coming from an area where it's even higher, so we'll actually be able to afford something better there - it's another reason to move there, but I'm trying not to make "so I can have a bigger house" too much of the reason to do it. What surprised me though is, from my scrolling on Redfin, things looked worse in Novi then in Ann Arbor. But maybe that's a function of what happens to be currently available.
That's a typo, meant to say "the Chicago area," we're in Oak Park. The cost and the schools (and the crime) here are a reason we've been discussing it for years, but we've been willing to deal with it and hope things get better.

While we're piling on. A 2-for-1 401k match is nice, but why not tell you the limit on that? If they give 2% on a 1% contribution, that's not actually that great.
While I understand a lot of this sentiment, I think there's at least something to be said for taking more bids out of the hands of a committee. Who says that #14 B1G school is #14, and that Auburn is #25? A bunch of fat cats? Automatic qualifiers at least means your spot is earned by how many games you've won and lost.
It's weird that the article mentions Guaranteed Rate being 10 miles south of Evanston like it's a problem, when SeatGeek Stadium is even further south. Not to mention Lambeau obviously being even further away (it's in Green Bay, WI not Green Bay Rd).

I don't understand how your ownership of guns is going to deter the US Government from doing what it wants to you, if it really wanted to. I hope this doesn't sound too challenging, because I'm really curious to hear an answer.
Right. This whole saga overlooks the point that by all rights, we were lucky as hell to have Harbaugh coaching here in the first place, and if he were any other coach with three recent conference championship game appearances, he'd 100 percent have taken another NFL job then.
