I mean they also beat a 4 seed that blew out Duke and a 3 that beat sparty (though obviously not top ten versions of those teams) and came within a point of the title game. I take the one hit wonder point, but let's not act like Purdue losing gave them a bye to the final four. They played exactly one double digit seed
Being AD at Michigan immediately after a football national championship should be the easiest slam dunk 95%+ job approval rating of any job in history. That Warde probably has a higher approval rating in Ohio than Michigan speaks to how truly terribly he is doing.
In case he happens to read this board, just know Jon the majority of the fanbase would much rather keep you and see Juwan out the door than vice versa.
I think his problem is kickers being able to score points and single handedly decide the outcome of games. We'd lose lots of drama without them. Would that be offset by the drama gained from teams going for it on 4th down way more? I'm not sure.
There are plenty of substantive arguments for keeping field goals in the game. The semantic argument that they should be kept in just because of the name of the sport is a bad one (and not even accurate as the "foot" part of the name had nothing to do with kicking in the first place as explained by several others).
Why would you assume OSU would have followed us to the ACC? They would have been the unrivaled kings of a much better and more important conference in the Big Ten and could have claimed their main rival (i.e. us) had to leave because we cheated (of course we'd disagree, but they could create the narrative).
They have already aired the 60 minute versions of the Rose Bowl and National Championship game on BTN. I've watched them and have them saved in my YTTV library. Whether they'll make it to the regular YouTube channel is a different story though
I arrived about an hour before kickoff for the Rose Bowl. The way they set up the lines to enter the stadium was miserable so it took ~45 minutes just to get in. I missed basically all of the pregame. Hopefully NRG will be better, but I'll probably aim for 90 minutes just to save myself some stress.
Love the showing up uninvited at camp and putting on a show story. High hopes for this one.
On another note, I can't help but look at the overall class and be a bit disappointed. Three consecutive Big Ten titles and playoff berths, so where's the momentum? Are we still in on a bunch of 4.5/5 star guys who haven't committed yet? Or is this just a reflection of the uncertainty caused by Jim's flirting with the NFL every year?
All of these knuckleheads on TV keep talking about how these teams have looked on the field the last few weeks as if Bama has looked incredible. They needed a miracle to beat a .500 team a week ago! Hello! No one wants to mention this on TV?
Still hilarious to me randos using iPhones to record games is thought of as the end of the world while this fucking OSU slapdick gets to hang out on our sidelines during games. Did I say hilarious, I meant infuriating.
I wouldn't be shocked if in this case they drop FSU to 5 (making the injured QB argument) with Texas and Bama at 3 and 4, respectively. It would be ridiculous, but are they really going to leave the SEC out of the playoffs? Who knows
I hope Santa takes a firm stance against any punishment being levied before an investigation is concluded with an opportunity for us to respond. Thank God it's not a meeting with Warde
Why do you think this feels like a one man operation? On his salary he's dropping thousands of dollars on tickets? Definitely a possibility for someone who really wants to get ahead, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was someone else on the coaching staff reimbursing him. I just don't have a feel one way or the other
Going forward, if you happen to attend a game of a future opponent for whatever reason, please record the sideline for the whole game and post the video on YouTube. Then post the link here. If one of our staffers happens to see it and uses it to figure out their signals, oh well, totally legal so doesn't matter.
I don't know I feel like shitting on a player's performance during or immediately after a game is sort of more understandable and in the "comes along with the job" territory than doing it years later to make a "thank god we and Jim don't have to suffer with those losers anymore" joke. Like I'm guessing if someone like Shea Patterson frequented this blog he knew just to stay away for a bit after a bad performance. But now on a random Tuesday years later he might open the blog and see this. It's not the end of the world or anything, and he probably wouldn't even care, I just think it's kind of shitty.
I know I'm being a debbie downer but shitting on a bunch of kids who gave it their all for us doesn't sit right with me. The Cade one was good though can't lie
Somehow I doubt a post by "smotheringD" on a Michigan football forum is going to have any bearing on whether the Lions win the division this year or not. I personally wouldn't call it 1/4 through the season, especially after all the pain the Lions have subjected me to over the past few decades, but I have no issue with others being excited about a great season so far.
I must be missing something so I hope someone more knowledgeable than me on this can help: why do the universities continue to put up with the NCAA? Why don't they all just agree the NCAA is now powerless and can't enforce anything? What do we need the NCAA for?
Seems like today was done much more prominently and in a way that generated national headlines (currently one of the top stories on espn.com). Don't think it was quite like that when he made the point in the past, but I may be wrong.

We were probably going to call time out regardless so might as well challenge something borderline with how moronic these refs have been

Wish it could've happened earlier so we could've kept Sanderson, but I understand why Warde wanted to wait until the end of the season.

So does winning in OT do anything for pairwise or not really?

Weren't Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn both interviewing the week of the NFC championship game?
Good move for him
Nah I'm good

When I saw a post starting with the words "Strong parallels" I thought this was going to be about Harbaugh and Klopp.
Both in 2015 join blue blood programs that had for the most part been mired in mediocrity for decades.
Both big personalities (though Klopp I would say is more universally admired by other fan bases).
Both restore glory in emphatic fashion (Klopp gets Liverpool its first ever title in the Premier League era, Harbaugh cfp of course).
Both announce their departure this week (Klopp much more unexpectedly).
Both leave me devastated.
Interviewing Vrabel and Quinn cuts the other way though

Are they selling those zip jackets with the mascot in a hat on the chest anywhere?
I mean we've known this for weeks. Not sure why JUB is acting like he got some insider tip

Fucking hell looks like reverse 2021
Have Orji throw his first pass in weeks (months?) against one of the best defenses in the country when our pass pro has been a sieve? No thanks
GTFO he had the ball with his knee down
Before the OSU timeout I think we were going play action and taking a deep shot with CJ.
Ryan Day says "gracias" to the Japanese waiter at a Japanese restaurant
People trying to blame CJ for that miss are baffling
Taulia is better than McCord right? ...Right?
I'm just going to convince myself this is ultimately beneficial for next week
We had no answer for the 1-3-1. You'd think Martelli would've been able to easily counter that, but maybe the players just couldn't execute
Fun day for us Michigan fans!

Could have been reimbursed as well
Wow that looks nothing like a fair catch signal. Had no idea that was the rule
It was looking so good for our west opponents and helping us out on the tiebreaker until the final minute in both games

Sounds like they wanted to troll us for the COVID year
