Honestly for a couple years there I was on the fence of being fine if he left and also feeling a little more time was needed as he had a great record year after year (and wasn't sure we could do better with a coaching change) before that. The offense drove me crazy for several years (mainly the over and over runs up the middle when it wasn't there - Lack of big plays) is why I felt that way. So ... for me anyway it was a "wasn't sure it was a good idea" but would not of completely freaked out if he had left.
Now though I am good with it (that JH decided to head to the NFL) and certainly thankful he stayed (especially the last 3 years) and really appreciated all he did for Michigan, yes even looking back now on all of it.
I personally don't really blame Warde for anything. I don't think it's an easy job overall at a big program like we have (football, basketball, baseball, softball, hockey, etc).
Is there a reason why you say that? Don't think he can do it or is not ready? I feel they could promote him and Coach Moore could (at least the first year) assist with game design and play calling to make it a smoother transition? I'd certainly hate to see Hart go.
Really happy for him and his family. Feel he deserved it and it also doesn't totally disrupt the coaching change over as players already know and like him, etc. Just really happy about this hire.
I can't imagine him moving to LA with his family. It's such a crazy over populated city. If it was still the San Diego Chargers I could see it as it is just better (IMO anyway) and far different than LA.
Hope he stays but I get it if he leaves to try for a Super Bowl run with someone.
I often wonder if Donovan shouldn't switch to WR. He is super fast and already catches the ball well out of the backfield (although they don't do this near enough with him). If there is a hole .... "poof" he is gone but he does a lot of dancing before he decides to go and often gets stopped at the line more times than not. I feel he is a good RB but I wonder if he wouldn't be a great WR or be used in both roles making him even more valuable.
If our passing game opens up and JJ has a good night connecting we can do good things. Our run game will work from time to time (so not worried about that) but we need the passing game and some creativity / unusual play calling to catch them off guard and keep them guessing. I feel our D can keep us in the game. I'm nervous as I personally feel Bama is the best of the bunch but we beat them and I think we really can take it all.
#3 is a BETTER QB than what's at OSU. I personally think it was an awesome test and will 100% better prepare us for next week. We will need to "spy" Harrison (2 guys watching him) next week and if we can keep his catch count down we are good!

I truly think the game plan was just what we saw. Run the ball for as long as we can and if it's successful. Do I wish JJ would of thrown it more and really go for driving up the score ... yes but we beat them team and controlled this game. Happy for the win! This win meant a lot to the players!

Could have been far worse for Purdue as we should have finished drives but coming off a bye and easily controlling this game is all we really needed.
Next week ... if we don't win by at least 14 I will be shocked but I can't see us not winning this easily.
I figure it will be a fight into the mid 2nd quarter of the game with them but after that we control the game from there on. Already looking forward to next weekend!
Honestly ... this wasn't even a game at all. Both sides OFF/DEF just played great tonight and we 100% dominated them. It was over easily after 21-0 early in the 2nd.
Honestly PSU and OSU are just NOT good. If we don't beat the daylights out of both of them it will be inexcusable. They just don't look good. The only team with any kind of a pulse that PSU has played is Iowa and OSU was lucky to beat ND who just look decent this year.
I think Edwards biggest issue is dancing far too much before he just makes his decision to go forward.
He is a hit the hole and go runner and not a shifty runner like Corum. For whatever reason he just seems to not want to make a decision fast enough. Edwards is fast but he isn't quick where Corum is the opposite. I feel they should use him more in the passing game out of the backfield. At this point for me anyway the 2 backs I like are Corum and Mullings with Edwards as 3rd.
I thought Corum looked stronger in this game and more like himself. 6.9 yds per carry - 254 yds rushing and 6 TD's already this season but this game he drove his legs and moved piles. Was encouraged by that and happy for him.
Every QB has a weird game at times and this was JJ's. Glad it happened now and let's hope not later. I think on at least one of them (the 1st one) he thought the receiver would be in a different spot.
Like another poster had said were never in any kind of jeopardy and we easily handled this game. Not a blowout but it was a game we controlled.
Rutgers will be a better test than what we have had (they have beaten NW and VT) so I guess we will see where we are at coming up soon.
We beat OSU back to back years .... 13-0 into the playoffs and truly deserved to be there with the top 4 teams. It was a very good year. Yes, I felt we should of beaten TCU but we didn't and they certainly do have a very good team. I think we are in very good shape going into next year with another very good team.
For me that first drive (with a no need to go for it on 4th and 2) with "the bad play call" was a tone setter and really just F-d everything up especially in that first half. Boggled my mind with them calling that.
This game sucked to lose but for me it's a complete season and although most will neg me I honestly think NO one is beating Georgia. I thought we would beat TCU and still feel we should have but I was not expecting to beat Georgia. If OSU beats them more power to them but I don't think anyone will.

I truly wonder if today's game hasn't actually been a blessing and really prepared us for next week. I do NOT think OSU's D line is as good as what we got today from Illinois. They have been darn good this year (Illinois) and they really brought it to us today and have a good air game and good RB as well to test our D. We played a good team today and got it done. Maybe not perfectly but the more I think about today's game the more I feel the way it ended and the way we had to fight was exactly what we might have needed. Our WR's still of course need to catch those balls that hit them in the hands and if we get everyone we can back and healthy next week we for sure can get it done.
I didn't see an extra gear slip but when he went back in after the injury I actually said .. "What! What are they doing .. No." Couldn't believe they even aloud that esp after I saw him try and warm up after the half and could not push off well.

Illinois played an incredibly tough game on the inside and we never really seemed to try the outside runs at all or any sweeps, etc The typical play today seemed to be: WR in motion and just as he passed the QB they would hike it and run it up between the guards. Did that WAY too much and Illinois was ready.
I hear you but Illinois is a MUCH improved team this year and were and are good. Our offense today was just blah. Thankful for the win. The drops by the WR's were for sure hard to watch.

That score is more on OUR offense. Illinois has caught up possession wise and the defense can get a bit tired being out there more often. Our offense is just not sustaining drives, we are punting far too much and just not doing a good job on that side of the ball. We play like this and we get STOMPED by OSU. I thought this game would be tough but we are not looking good on offense.
JJ and WR's and TE have got to step up and get it done. I do NOT think they should be playing Blake at all. I couldn't believe it when they let him go back out there. Just let him rest and let the other guys hopefully get it done.

About midway through the season this was the game I was most worried about. I'm glad we squeaked it out.
