Baseball is pretty weird when it comes to recruiting. Some D1/D2 schools can 'stack' aid (combine academic and athletic money), and other's don't/can't. Grades might matter more for Baseball than any other sport for all I know. My son is going the D3 route as well and got a lot of academic money.
What also sucks is the fact that college baseball only pays two assistants. Which leads to all sorts if things teams have to do in order to pay volunteer assistants. It is the most underfunded sport in the NCAA. The documentary that someone else posted the link to is very good. I'll be interested to see how NIL changes baseball recruiting/funding. Get a guy a NIL deal, give someone else more scholarship money....
I read Starting Strength a while back by Mark Rippetoe. Got a Valor Fitness BD-33 power rack and some bumper plates from Vulcan Fitness. Started the SS program the first of the year.
I decided last June that I finally needed to do something about being overweight instead of just saying "I need to do something". I lost 30 pounds by the end of the year just by using My Fitness Pal to track what I eat (going from 205 to 175, and I'm 5'8"). Looking forward to more progress this year with SS. My wife also got me the book Practical Programming for Strength Training so I am reading it now. I highly recommend both books for anyone looking to get into strength training.
If you are going to make a video to send, make sure a radar gun is in the video when he is throwing so they know he is throwing what he claims he's throwing. If he is playing travel chances are you know someone with a pocket radar.
UM has knocked several QB's out of games this year. I think it will come down to how often we can get to JT. I'm hoping Chris Evans can create some big plays also.
I live in VA and have DirecTV. I have the package that includes the BTN. You won't miss a football game. Most basketball games are televised one way or another. I don't pay extra for the BTN streaming stuff.
Best of luck. I was excited like everyone else when he committed. I met a coach from the Richmond area soon after and he said Green was extremely overrated and 'soft'. I wanted so bad for home to be wrong. He showed flashes but it didn't work out.
Sucks for him that he had to try to run behind some of the offensive lines that he did. With that in mind, maybe Florida isn't the best choice.
I was with the crowd criticizing Rudock early on. Boy did he ever step up. I'll eat my lemon now and will continue to be a fan of him. Good luck Jake. I hope you get a legitimate shot in the NFL. You deserve it.
Interesting indeed. Tough situation for a coach to be in. I'm sure it happens all the time. They interview for jobs, but like everyone else you have to keep working the one you've got.
If it's true, best of luck to him. Enjoyed watching his defense play......for the most part. Michigan is in a good position. They have Greg Mattison who can fill that role, if they can't get someone else.
I agree that there isn't any reason UVA can be as good or better than VT. They have made some great hires in other sports like baseball and basketball. I for one hope they get this one right.
I imagine it wouldn't have a negative impact for us. Nothing to back that up, just speculation. Obviously the more jobs like this one come open, the greater the chance of him leaving. Schools like Maryland may be more willing to jump on him so they aren't let without. On the flip side, if Maryland chooses someone else, Durkin has another job he can interview for.
At least most of their fans are reasonable (at least the ones I encounter). I'm about 3 hrs away but I would love to see them in the Big Ten and get to watch Michigan play football/basketball/soccer/baseball there. Oops, I should have added lacrosse, lol.
Just off the cuff I think I would like to see us go against Ole Miss. Probably just because it is something different. After that I would pick Georgia.

Most programs use at least a portion of the money made from camps to pay 'volunteer' asst coaches.

Kudos for the guy wielding the bat to post baseball content. I hope you continue to do so. You really hit this one out of the park. lol

I'm near Roanoke. I'm ok with a foot or so, and the kids are definitely looking forward to it. I hope we don't get much more than that.
But seriously, good point.

He could get a better job than Maryland this year.

Not sure what Richt was making. How much do you think UVA is willing to pay this time around?
Soooo glad we got Harbaugh when we did.
Somewhere Brady Hoke is clapping.
Bring Bert back......

Yeah.....that last question. WTF

boom mathed....lol
Yeah, I don't get it either.

I'm interested to see how Hackenburg does at the NFL combine. He seems to have the physical tools.

For selfish reasons I would love to add UVA to the Big Ten.
Al Golden has ties to UVA, I wonder if he would be interested in the job. Seems like he would be a better fit there than say....Miami
Glad to hear about his success. I hope he is still returning kicks/punts. Maybe he can carve out a career in the NFL as a special teams dynamo.

My favorite Dr. Pepper 'Larry Culpepper' commercial is the one where he is consoling the fan in the corner of the stadium.
