There is no need to…

There is no need to apologise to Warde, all of the criticisms of him were valid. It's also valid to appreciate what he did with the basketball program, it just doesn't erase all of the other blunders he's made during his tenure. I'm inclined to think this is more a "even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while" type of thing than Warde all of a sudden being competent at his job, but maybe that's just me.

Maybe because the majority…

Maybe because the majority of Americans have ancestry linked to the UK? Some people like to look at their heritage and celebrate it. Others couldn’t care less.

Why don’t you have a good…

Why don’t you have a good cry about it. Honestly, I’m so sick of people in 2024 crying about what someone’s ancestors did to their ancestors 1000’s of years ago.

i’m Welsh and my family was also horribly treated by the British many years ago. My father has Native American blood and that side of my family was also horribly treated by the British, but you know who wasn’t? Me. I’m actually embarrassed by people with similar blood lines that today, seek some form a retribution, apology or handout because of what happened to their ancestors. Get a life and make your own way in it.

As a person in the medical professions I feel absolutely terrible for any and everyone that is in some way inflicted with this fucking disease.

Damn shame for everyone…

Damn shame for everyone involved. Moore made a great hire the fanbase was excited about. Young guy with pro experience and probably translate that into a great recruiter. I thought there were really good things on the horizon for this guy. Cutting ties was definitely the right way to go, but no one wins in a situation  like this. Hope he gets the help he needs and finds his way back to the coaching ranks after he does.

for those worried, this isn…

for those worried, this isn't football where you need 22 starters, you need 5. If we watch what goes on in CFB since the portal, every coach that gets an upgrade in jobs, takes a bunch of his best players with him. If UM hires a coach from a mid-major (which is, for some reason, where people seem to think we are going to go) I can see him bringing a bunch of his players with him, perhaps his whole starting line-up. Will that be good for UM? I'm not sure it could be any worse than this year.

I know I'm in the minority…

I know I'm in the minority here, but I couldn't care less if the entire team transferred. At this point it seems like a complete clean slate is what the program needs. I have nothing against the current players and if they stay I'm fine with that, but if  they all left I wouldn't be disappointed either.

I thought the transfer…

I thought the transfer portal was closed until after spring practices were concluded? I could definitely be wrong because it's hard for me to keep track of the changing landscape in college athletics, but I thought I heard that somewhere.

Minor, yes, bu all of them…

Minor, yes, bu all of them equal to or worse than a cheeseburger and look what that got us?

I don't know...it just doesn…

I don't know...it just doesn't sit right with me to point out busts, especially from our beloved wolverines. There's "busts" in every sport, but remember, those "busts" still made it further than 99.9% of people. I'd rather look at guys who outperformed their projections rather than point out those who fell short.

It makes no sense for us to…

It makes no sense for us to celebrate the wins we get in the portal and then cry "tampering" when we lose someone to it. The past two off seasons UM loaded up in the portal with guys at key positions who contributed a great deal and we loved it. When someone gets one of ours we yell tampering. Come on guys, just wish the kid well and accept this is part of college football now. We'll win some and we'll lose some. This one hurts for me because I loved the guy, but it's hard to argue that he wouldn't get more playing time at bama than he would have here next season with Paige and Moore both returning.

That really sucks. I was…

That really sucks. I was super excited about him, especially  the way he ended the season. Hope it isn't true, but if it is, I hope he has success where ever he ends up.

It all depends who is doing…

It all depends who is doing the pushing. If that had been someone like Toney, it would have been enough to have him let go, but because it's Kelce nothing will be done. I don't care if it's normal, acceptable or whatever, if I was the coach he'd be gone. It's a matter of respect and authority. How can Reid be seen as having any authority when his players push him if they're upset.

Honestly, that is a sweet…

Honestly, that is a sweet swing Harbaugh has. Really good form for a 60 year old.

They think theyre getting…

They think theyre getting CHip Kelly which will be way worse for the big ten than BOB. Kelly would be a top notch OC if he's willing to coach under Day.

I think people defending…

I think people defending Warde are missng most people's point here. If you have ever worked for a major corporation, you know succession planning is an integral part of it. It was no secret Harbaugh wanted to go back to the NFL after the past 3 off-seasons. Warde haad 3 season to  put a succession plan together. If he had any kind of relationship with Harbaugh he would have A) known this was coming and B) been able to plan with him the path forward.

An example would have been Warde sitting down with Jim prior to the season and saying, "Listen Jim, we really want you back and would do anything to keep you, but we also know you want that Lombardi trophy. In case some NFL team comes and gives you an offer you can't refuse, whats that going to look like?"

If they had a good relationship, Jim would have put his cards on the table and said, "If it happens, I'm probably going to take Minter, Elston, etc etc etc." Then Warde could have said,"OK, so what should we do that would be in the best interest of the players and University?" He would have had Harbaugh to help in the planning of his succession and there very well could have been a give and take involved, had their been a good relationship between the two.

I've been part of developing succession plans for corporations and witnessed corporations where the senior managers have good relationships with the board and CEO and where they have poor relationships. Trust me when I say it can be a very easy process when the person leaving is doing so on good terms as opposed to not. It's plain Warde and Jim weren't and it is. the single biggest reason where are where we are, whether some of you want to admit it or not.

Edit: I don't know where the post went I was replying to but this wasn't it

You do know they aren't…

You do know they aren't really worth aything right?

Thanks for clearing that up

Thanks for clearing that up

I've been a mormon my whole…

I've been a mormon my whole life and served a mission and you are 100% wrong. Source: served a mission. I don't push my religion on anyone and certainly don't try to manipulate people into joining the church. When a young man of 18 believes strongly enough about his religion to give up two years of his life to knock on strangers doors and ask (not manipulate or push their way in) if they would like to listen to your message I'd say the above poster is correct: NIL probably plays zero role in what he is going to factor into making his choice. Also, for the record, in two years we had one day for ourselves out of the week to be regular 18-20 year old boys and on  those days, we generally were volunteering in some capacity.

I'm not saying any of this for admiration of any sort, I just get sick of people spreading false information about the religion I practice. Now I'll go back to leaving everyone to their own chosen religion and not attempt, in any way, to discredit their choice or manipulate them into joining mine.

being a great recruiter…

being a great recruiter doesn't make you an offensive cordinator. More is a new HC, he needs a proven minds on both offence and defence. Screw all the guys that left and will leave. Lets go out and get some new up and comers (like Minter and Moore were) and give them their start and hope for similar sucess.

I stopped being a fan of the…

I stopped being a fan of the NFL a long time ago, but I do follow former M players so last night I was pulling for Detroit and Adain Hutchinson. the loss was a rough one and analytics be damned, they should have kicked the field goal to tie the game midway through the 4th quarter. The momentum was all with the 49er's at that point but the Detroit defence was still holding their own. Kick the field goal and tie the game and she what happens. This isn't a hindsight thing either, I was saying it when they lined up t go for it. I don't know man...for me that was absolutely the wrong decision.

You’re joking right?…

You’re joking right? Baseball is one of the most uneven playing fields in professional sport, with the exception of European Soccer. Just because some teams keep beating the odds and making runs to the playoffs/world series, doesn’t mean they did it with an even playing field. The highest payroll last season was the Mets with 309 million, congrats to the lowest Oakland A’s of 40 million. Is that the even playing field youre speaking about.

I  think you're…

I  think you're misunderstanding why most here are pissed at Warde. I agree, there may have been nothing he could have done at this point to retain Jim, but much of that, in my opinion, was because of the things that took place between he and Jim over the past two seasons. I think the lack of support from his immediate supervisor over the past two season is what made it virtually impossible for Jim to be retained. I had a feeling when the university withdrew its lawsuit against the big ten that it was the end for Harbaugh and UM regardless how the season finished. Once he won the National Championship I was 1000% certain he was not coming back. To be able to leave on a high note after the way he was treated by the school, the conference and the NCAA was the Ultimate f-you from Harbaugh to college football as he rode off into the sunset a hero amoungst the team and it's fans. Now, within two years he will have the chargers in the super bowl and will probably win one before he is done. Good Luck Jim!

I can't quite put into words…

I can't quite put into words the feeling I had when I witnessed the Alabama win. It felt at that point like we were national champions. I was shaking, crynig, my whole body was vibrating....just unreal.

Now that is some irony. You…

Now that is some irony. You live by the sword you die by the sword. Lane's sad someone has deeper pockets than his boosters.

They still can only play one…

They still can only play one QB at a time. Doesn't make much sense to me. If this fails to bring in a championship, I have to think recruits are going to hesitate to sign for OSU in future because they will know the roster that they sign on to be a part of will likely be much different by the time they arrive. I know i'd be pissed if I had a cach selling me early playing time and before I even got to campus he brought in three transfers at my position.

That's just college football…

That's just college football. Alabama has five stars waiting in the wings behind all those guys, his job won't be that tough. Look at our team this year. Virtually our entire offence will be new next year. New QB, RB#1, RB#4, WR#1, WR#2, WR#4, TE#2, TE#3, OT#1, OT#2, OG#1, OG#2, C and our 6th O-lineman.....It's a good thing our D looks to be good next year (though we will be replacing DT#1, DT #4,  ILB#1, ILB#2, OLB #1, OLB#2, NB, CB#2, CB#4, CB#6) Whoever our coach is next year will have a lot of holes to fill. Man, I hadn't realised the turnover that was going to take place until I listed those. Thanksfully on D at least, the new guys will be players who have played significant snaps.

None of that seems…

None of that seems unreasonable for me. Why is a 4 million dollar buyout a sticking point for the university? Any NFL team that wanted him would pay that in a heart beat so my point is, may as well leave it at 1.5 until the date he wants and then negotiate to raise that to a number much higher than 4 million.

Same here. Walker seems like…

Same here. Walker seems like a hell of an athlete and should be in line for playing time on either side of the ball. Honestly though, I'm kinda shocked Wilson is leaving. JJ also to be honest. I thought both would come back but wish them all the success in the world in whatever their future holds.

The first college football…

The first college football game I ever watched was in '92 and Michigan was playing with Keith Jackson calling the game. I fell in love with both that day. Don't get me wrong, there have been a couple guys since that I have enjoyed, like Gus and Joel...Actually they are the only two that I have enjoyed since Keith, but even they have nothing on him. He painted a picture with his words and brought the game to life in a way no one has ever done before or since. He could have people excited to watch a game between UCONN and Rice for pete sake. He just had that way about him.

Absolutely  love his closing…

Absolutely  love his closing statements. What a great piece. I'm with Sam: if Jim decides to leave you pat him on the back, thank him for all he's done and make the right hire to carry on what he has built. Is it Sherrone Moore? Jesse Minter? I really don't know, but I know this: whioever it is better make sure Warde will empty his pockets to keep the rest of this staff together. Losing Minter, Moore or any of the assistants would be bad and they deserve to be the highest paid at their positions in the country after proving they're the best at what they do. A side note is I'd go out and rehire CP as well. Sad he took any of the heat for what that fool Stalions did.

I really enjoy Joel Klatt…

I really enjoy Joel Klatt. He and Gus Johnson are my favourite play by play guys since Keith Jackson. Would have loved to have heard Keith and Joel call that Rose Bowl on Monday.

I don't know exactly what…

I don't know exactly what happened, but the first kneeldown didn't count for some reason. It remained 2nd down with 12 seconds left when they did it the second time.

If you watched this game…

If you watched this game then I'm not sure where your praise for Johnson is coming from. He was the culprit on a number of long runs by taking bad angles and losing contain. I don't want to dump on the kid, I'm just saying, Paige has been the better player all season against the run and the pass and having to play Johnson instead of him against Washington is a sizable step down in my opinion. I felt like Sabb played much better in his snaps than Johnson to be honest.

My grandmother had more…

My grandmother had more balls than Michigan does.

Michigan has benefitted more…

Michigan has benefitted more than most via the portal. I like it but they should definitely start making some rules around the practice of it.

you have the right to feel…

you have the right to feel how you feel and think what you think, but when you voice an opinion that is dubious at best and plain ridiculous at worst, you have to stand up to the scrutiny. It's great if you are a cancer survivor, but you don't speak for cancer survivors at large, nor anyone else. It;s obvious others have taken exception to your opinion on the subject. Best to just drop it and move on rather than attempt to justify it. I had a sister who died of bowel cancer and it happened quickly, but it was no less a battle for her, and all who loved her.

Yeah, I can see them being…

Yeah, I can see them being extremely frustrated over being left out of the playoff, but as someone already said, the playoff expands to 12 next season so joining a conference with far better compeition doesn't seem like the wisest move on their part. It seems more likely that its frustration talking (if there is real talk of it at all) and cooler heads will prevail.

I think "He was never going…

I think "He was never going to make it here" is a bit of a stretch. He showed some real promise his freshman year other than ball security being an issue. If Donovan Edwards goes to the NFL this year than i'd have thought he'd be fighting for the starting job or at least in the mix. Sad to se him go but hope it works out for the best for him.

Oh let do it!

What could…

Oh let do it!

What could have been Demar Dorsey

I'm not sure I agree with…

I'm not sure I agree with this. First off Texas beat Alabama and Georgia were without their two biggest offensive weapons for much of the game and when they were in, they were clearly hobbled. I would argue that OSU is better this year than last even without the NFL rookie of the year. Their defence is better, their offence is just as good....They should have actually beat Georgia last year and Georgia is definitey not as good this year as they were last year. Texa for me is just too hard to get a handle on. some games they lok like world beaters and others they look pretty mediocre. Either way I think OSU this year is better than Texas so to say we haven't played anyone close to Georgia and Texas, in my opinion, is flat wrong.

Honestly I love this. There…

Honestly I love this. There was a time when the Big 10 was a respected conference and the competition for the Big Ten title wasn't just OSU and UM. I'm happy we're getting back to that and will have more than 2 difficult games each year. It should be the end of people looking at the Big Ten champ and thinkking they only had to beat one team to get to the playoff. Personally, I'm excited to see it.

It's us against the world,…

It's us against the world, betters included. This is what the team wants.

Can you imagine Harbaugh…

Can you imagine Harbaugh letting his players throw him around like a rag doll? He looks like the little nerd walking in  the hall that the jocks decide to bully when he walks by them.

I love these guys and our…

I love these guys and our coach. If you close your eyes when Blake talks you'd swear it's Don Cheadle talking.

Personally, I'm not…

Personally, I'm not convinced JJ will declare. With NIL what it is today he has the chance to make money next season while improving his draft stock. I have a feeling he stays. If he doesn't I think we roll with what we have currently and  go to a QB competition with Davis next spring and see who grabs the job. It's all useless speculation, but that's my take.
