After a lifetime in coaching Borges didn't suddenly learn how to coach in the offseason or forget how to coach the week before osu. The most likely explanation for why it seems that way to casual fans is that there are other factors that casual fans don't understand

That is a statement, that is not evidence. And in fact, it is a statement that makes absolutely no distinction between smokers and nonsmokers, which is critical here.
There is SOME evidence that smokeless tobacco causes cancer in nonsmokers, but it is not conclusive, as you can see in section 5.2 of that reference. This is why the EU removed the cancer warning from snus (which is different than chew of course)
Of course I can understand why a public health organization would not want to condone the use of smokeless as an alternative to smoking, that certainly does not mean they are justified.

But when someone looks at the deficiencies we had last year, and how we were able to go 11-2, with wins over ND and OSU, and a BCS bowl win, and their conclusion is "man, look at how our OC held us back," then that person has an agenda, and an annoying one at that.
Bollman has made mistakes too. SOME of the complaints have validity. But when OSU fans claim that every loss is entirely his responsibility, and that the players would win NCs every year if they just werent being held back, those people have an agenda. Albeit a much less annoying one than pining for a coach and a scheme that just got done losing 22 games in 3 years
Especially since it has taken him 4 years to START to get the zone read. For as freaking awesome as he is, he has some pretty major limitations that Borges has mostly done a great job compensating for.
There isnt much worse than the casual sports fan who always has to be That Guy who is smarter than his teams coaches, by comparing them to the coach who runs the amazing Hindsight scheme, where every play ever imagined can be run perfectly, without sacrificing anything else, because the closest the casual fan has come to coaching an actual football game is in a video game.
At least in the case of OSU fans, they do this to Bollman, etc because they are being homers for their teams players, its even worse when That Guy does it because he is homering for some coach who really, really sucked.
No, they were not renewed. Thats why it was news then, and the only reason it was news again was that kiffin confirmed it and it was reported as them being "pulled," when in fact nothing had changed. And looking a little further into this, it appears that these kids knew this was the situation last year when they were put on scholarship, and all of them will end up getting renewed
Once again, that is not a fact. For the second time, he did not pull anything. For the second time, they simply have not been renewed yet.
Considering their scholarship situation, and since this is pretty common practice, it is likely that they were told that the scholarships might not be renewed when they were given to them last year. But to be clear, thats just speculation on my part, I would have to be a real douche to come on here and make definitive claims that werent true
He didnt pull anything. Two of them will certainly be renewed. The last one will only not be renewed if THREE currently academically ineligble players ALL become eligible. And even if that happens, its still not 100% that it wouldn't still get renewed.

i dont know how much Hoke is involved in evaluation relative to other HCs, but no matter what its way less than Belein just because 85>>>12(or however many they get in hoops)
But its a lot easier to get ahead of the game scouting when you wrap up your classes in May, and he's definitely a big part of the reason we've been able to do that
Yeah this thread, and people not remembering texas being bad, makes me feel old. Meanwhile Michigan is the best example of "it can happen to anybody". While we were running a bowl streak up over 30 years, texas was having losing seasons and not winning their conference
