5  I've liked the Chargers…

5  I've liked the Chargers since the 60s - John Hadl and Lance Alworth were favorites.

Could not agree more.  He…

Could not agree more.  He seems to think It is still 1990.  The question is whether the University will wait until football is where Bball is now or whether they will see the handwriting on the wall and act before our NIL program craters the team.

As JP McCarthy (google mim…

As JP McCarthy (google mim if you need to) used to say, " It's not about the money.  It's about the amount of money."

That might be the kiss of…

That might be the kiss of death with Warde.  Actually, if Warde thinks Moore is a good idea, I'd worry more.  Does he have a coach hire that has worked out well?  Don't say hockey to me.  That team has lots of talent and consistently loses its mind and then the game.  Doesn't seem like a well-coached unit.

I find it harder and harder…

I find it harder and harder to root for my school's football team because it increasingly has little to do with the school.  The players aren't student athletes anymore, they are all free agent players.  This year's Michigan team is the last of its' kind.

I've rooted for the Chargers…

I've rooted for the Chargers since the days of John Hadl and Lance Alworth.  The AFL was so much more fun than the NFL before the merger.  Bring back the real powder blue jerseys!  I will  root hard for JH the Chargers to win the Super Bowl.   I'll even get Sunday Ticket so I can watch every game.

I don't "hate" Warde. But he…

I don't "hate" Warde. But he seems to think it is still 1980 in college sports and all Michigan has to do to win is go along and mind the NCAA and  everything will be hunky-dory.  He isn't in touch with today's reality of what big time college sports entertainment really is about.  Sadly, I think we are headed to relive the 50s and early 60s for Michigan major sports until someone wakes up and hires the 2030 version of Don Canham.

Yeah, the myth of student…

Yeah, the myth of student athletes is finally dead.  No reasonable person can look at Power 5 football as anything other than a  development league  with jerseys and venues provided by universities that want to make money in the entertainment business.   Mixed feelings about that but that is where we are.

You know, I love JH and I…

You know, I love JH and I wish the version I have of him in my head would stay at Michigan forever.  But, the real JH will put us through this NFL ordeal every year - even with a $4 M buyout.  I think he is justifiably pissed out lack of support from Warde and Warde needs to go but that really is a separate issue.  Warde won't support a new coach any better.  It is his nature to be a NCAA/Big10 toady.  So, thanks Jim, it has all you promised.  Good luck with the Chargers!

I listened for ten minutes…

I listened for ten minutes and it was glorious.

That is the perfect analogy…

That is the perfect analogy.  They play like kids without a care in the world except for their team.  The most emotional play of the year for me was Corum's TD run against OSU the play after Zinter went down.  When his first thought upon reaching the end zone was to flash 65, I thought these guys will do anything for each other and that is why they are going to win.

Not only people on this blog…

Not only people on this blog but 99 per cent of "reporters" seem to have avoided reading or comprehending the NCAA rule book.  Stewart Mandel today said that Michigan was guilty of "brazen cheating. "  What a crock of bad reporting.  JH was absolutely right to claim innocence last night and I hope that the quislings who run the Michigan Athletic Dept don't knuckle under to whatever further BS is coming from the NCAA.  And all these weak, pathetic, and dishonest  coaches who are pretending to be shocked, shocked that sign stealing is going on, despite the fact they all have analysts trying to steal signs need to stop talking.  What goes around will come around.

This is all just BS on so…

This is all just BS on so many levels.  But, what is clear is that the NCAA intends to harass Harbaugh and UM for as long as it takes to get Harbaugh to leave college coaching and STFU about paying players.  JH is a very peculiar individual so what I can't predict is whether the harassment will cause him to say FU NCAA I'm staying or FU NCAA I'm going to the NFL.  Hard to say.

Logged in to upvote.  It…

Logged in to upvote.  It will always be Michigan Stadium to me.  B** H***** will never come out of my mouth.

Play calling was too…

Play calling was too conservative and too much like Carr-era.  But, no way we pass up the field goal on 4th down.  Make them go the whole way to win.  We had been bending on D all day and would not have had to bend much to put them in range for a tying field goal.

Great summary of one of the…

Great summary of one of the great versions of The Game.  For me, Michigan's advantage was summed up when Corum ran 22 yards for the TD and flashed 6-5.  These guys are playing for each other and that gives them a mental toughness that OSU can't match.  Michigan won because they wanted it more for themselves and their  teammates and that made a difference in 4 or 5 plays that determined the outcome.

He gone.

He gone.

Absolutely not.  The Regents…

Absolutely not.  The Regents will tell Warde to fire him and he will happily do the task.  Unless Harbaugh resigns now., which may well happen.

This is indeed what it is…

This is indeed what it is all about.  Harbaugh annoys the NCAA.  They don't like him.  What we are seeing is the equivalent of a drive to the pine forest where the UM Regents will be given a gun and told to get rid of Harbaugh or else.  Can't wait to hear Harbaugh's side of this next year when he is coaching in the NFL.

There is absolutely no way…

There is absolutely no way the Regents would allow UM to extend his contract and no way he would accept anyway.  This relationship is  over.  Harbaugh is gone and no one on the staff will be here next year.  OSU has succeeded in getting the Regents to burn the house down.  Hope they enjoy 2-10 and half empty stadiums.

He gone.  Coached his last…

He gone.  Coached his last game at Michigan.  Even if they win out the Big 10  will not  let this admitted cheater win the championship.   Playoff guys now have the ammo to say, " Michigan admitted cheating and is out.  What pisses me off the most is that Michigan broke no rules and just agreed that they did.  I'm with Harbaugh.  I'm gone.

Fine.   Just shows what a…

Fine.   Just shows what a dolt Stalions is.  He should have made the AD pay the expenses he incurred having people video opposing teams sidelines.  That isn't prohibited "advance scouting" it is obtaining video of opponents' games which is widespread because it is legal.   As far as I can tell, the only possible prohibited conduct would be Stalions' going to the CMU game, which, if he did it on behalf of Michigan would be prohibited.  So far, it isn't even established he was there.

I think Harbaugh has an…

I think Harbaugh has an antitrust argument based on the meeting of his competitors at which they apparently conspired to prevent him from competing with them in the field of college football coaching.  Clearly a conspiracy to restrain trade in violation of the Sherman Act.

I was in Section 33 as a…

I was in Section 33 as a freshman.  Everyone in the stadium believed we were going to the Rose Bowl.  The funniest event after that horror was in the BigTen Championship Basketball game (UM and Indiana tied in the regular season) Michigan won at Assembly Hall and the Michigan fans chanted "Wayne Duke take a vote."  Hilarious.

Generally, 5 o clock on…

Generally, 5 o clock on Friday is the time to announce something you want no one to pay attention to.   When I worked at an auto company, that was when we tried to announce all recalls.  A little different here because Saturday is such a big day for the Big10 and it is going to get lots of attention no matter what - but I still think the timing means they  aren't happy about whatever it is they are going to say.  If they wanted a lot of coverage, they'd call a big-ass news conference in the middle of the day with lots of notice so it could be live on ESPN.

Good view of the PSU…

Good view of the PSU sideline?

I've attended a hearing on a…

I've attended a hearing on a TRO held in the living room of a Federal Judge in ED Mich at 10A on a Saturday morning if that is any consolation.  Mars and the Williams and Connoly crew will find a Federal Judge to hold a hearing on a TRO, no worries.  I'm sure they have already alerted Court staff of the possible need for a hearing late Friday or early Saturday before the PSU game.

Why do even Michigan…

Why do even Michigan supporters refer to Stallions operation as an"in-person scouting ring?"  It was NOT in person scouting.  It was purchase of game video from commercial sources.

+3 for Dan Rather reference…

+3 for Dan Rather reference.  Many probably scurrying to wikipedia, "Who is Dan Rather?"

"The appropriate thing to do…

"The appropriate thing to do is give Stalions a show cause, fine Michigan for the trouble, institute helmet radios as soon as possible, and move on with our lives."  I'm in for helmet radios and moving on but the only way I'd go with the first two is if every other big10 team is investigated and subjected to the same treatment.  Every team steals signs and every team trades info about said signs.  And BTW, do not refer to what Stallions facilitated as in-person scouting.  That just plays into the NCAA's hands.  Stallion's minions were not scouts- they were paid video service providers and are entirely legal. period. end of story.

I would not call what…

I would not call what Stallions did "scouting."  It wasn't scouting, it was filming.   It is pretty clear that schools can commercially obtain film of games of the their opponents but advance scouting is subject to NCAA rules.  Can easily see NCAA argue that since advance in-person scouting is prohibited, hiring scouts is prohibited as well.

Agree with you that this…

Agree with you that this information will matter most in court.  I think the PR battle has largely been forfeited by Michigan and the public will always think of this as the Michigan sign stealing scandal.  But, unless the Big10 opens investigations and pursues punishment of every other incident of sign stealing to determine if they were done"legally" or not, this, and the other incidents to come, will be fantastic evidence in court of the Big10's arbitrary and capricious enforcement of its' rules.  Also, should it get to it, it will open up all these other coaches, schools, and analysts to discovery about what info they had and how they obtained it.  All of that becomes highly relevant to UM's claims in court that it is being unfairly treated by the Big10.

Popular saying in post-WWII…

Popular saying in post-WWII Soviet Union, "Yes, it is true you gave us trucks.  But if you hadn't we would have walked to Berlin."

Hutch flattening that guy…

Hutch flattening that guy and Sainristil taking away a sure TD are my two favorite recent plays against OSU.  Still waiting for any evidence that anything the Stallion did violated any NCAA rule.  So far just a Stapleton-created "scandal" with no actual scandal.  We stole signs. Sign stealing is legal and done by every single college football team in existence, and probably most high school teams. We are good at it.  We are also good at tackling, blocking, running, passing, coaching, and all the other skills needed for success in football.  Where is the beef?

I'm looking for the NCAA…

I'm looking for the NCAA rule that says, "Get Harbaugh out of college football and ruin his reputation."  Must be unwritten but that is the only rule that is relevant to the NCAA at this point.   All this fancy parsing of language and history is great and I agree with lots of it but it sadly misses the real point of this which is enforcement of the unwritten rule.

True, but the real end…

True, but the real end result is JH is gone, either fired by wafflyWarde or off to NFL.  wafflyWarde can't handle any of this, never liked JH in the first place, and wants people to like him, not JH.  So, thanks for the memories Jim.

Hilarious.  Won't stop Big10…

Hilarious.  Won't stop Big10 from vacating the championship last year.

Maize hockey jerseys from the 90s with script Michigan are the pinnacle of Michigan hockey apparel.

I might be wrong but didn't…

I might be wrong but didn't Notre Dame terminate our series with them?  I think we want to play ND every year, for some reason.

Glad I'll never go to a…

Glad I'll never go to a night game.  Looked awful.   Went to Rutgers last year and didn't think any football game at Michigan Stadium would be worse.  I was wrong.

I'll raise you  a Gail…

I'll raise you  a Gail Cogdill.

Of course he did because he…

Of course he did because he doesn't give a rat's ass about whatever Warde is thinking(?) about the NCAA.  He knows he has a decent chance to win it all this year and get back to the NFL in a way that would vindicate him and give a giant finger to everyone who doubted him and all the NCAA and SEC types who hate him.  He knows his alma mater is too wrapped up in the past to be at the top of the new world of college football for long and is scripting his way out for maximum F-you-ed ness.  I wish him the best.

It is dying as a sport but…

It is dying as a sport but thriving as a medium to deliver advertising.  The rise of taping, recording, time-shifting, and now streaming made virtually every other form of TV advertising decline in value.  Sports are still watched live - at least more than "regular programming." So that is where the advertisers are and that is where the money is. Since money is what counts to the schools, here we are.

He absolutely would stick it…

He absolutely would stick it up their ass - as he takes an NFL job.

There are no "anti-athletic…

There are no "anti-athletic regents" at UM.

The story was dead for the…

The story was dead for the year.   Now, every press conference JH will be asked about it.  It doesn't clear anything up it just keeps the story going.  I can't imagine JH agreed to this for any reason other than "Whatever Warde I'm gone at the end of the year anyway."

Unfortunately, dollars are…

Unfortunately, dollars are the only thing that matters to the Big10 schools right now.  As much as we want to blame "the conference" none of this would be happening without the backing of the schools in the Big10, including Michigan.

He is gone.   Fitzgerald is…

He is gone.   Fitzgerald is only 48 so he probably doesn't want to ride off into the sunset.  So, quick resignation for the good of the school.  Then buckle up for the next 2-3 years of internal investigations, lawsuits, Title VI and Title IX investigations. Try to surface in 3-4 years as a linebackers coach somewhere - NFL perhaps.

16 year old me watched from…

16 year old me watched from far up in the corner of the end zone where Taylor scored.  Great downfield blocking on that play.

Yup.  We were way better…

Yup.  We were way better without Jett.  Having the coach's son on a team is usually a disaster, especially in B-ball.  Sadly, it looks like the team will continue to deteriorate and Warde, being Warde, will do nothing until he is forced.  Or maybe Juwan just moves on.  He doesn't need the money after all.
