Seems to line up with what GhostofJermaineGonzales said in the DMac thread.

Again, I only deal in dope recruiting bits passed on through a limited medium. I don't do coaching carousel rumors. For what it's worth, I did hear that Oakland was in play.
December 7th, 2020 at 10:02 PM ^
Other than the NFL thing, which seems to be based on sources (eg. Bacon probably has some in both camps, I am guessing Ghost only has them on UMs side)
December 8th, 2020 at 9:58 AM ^
Ghost is pretty legit. Also somehow his previous posting history is hidden? Seems extra legit. IMO he’s better than the guy that just calls everyone a pussy who calls him out for being wrong.

I love the in-depth analysis you so consistently bring. Like this:

i think it's actually the final exam for urb's "leadership and character" class.
December 7th, 2020 at 10:09 PM ^
Yup, you guys drooled over the thought of getting him for a coach, but now's he's back to being your favorite dirtball. Well, enjoy a few more years of Jimmy. I know Buckeye fans will.

Your university is trash and so are you.
December 7th, 2020 at 10:15 PM ^
Fun fact Big E (guy in the clip) played football for Iowa from 2004-2006.
December 8th, 2020 at 12:19 PM ^
”Reality”, must be another universe for you. OSU has closed the gap significantly on UM... Yes, that gap was substantial, but is this all you have? Face it, OSU has blown by us in football and many other aspects... We need to just get it done on the field, and let that do our talking. Talking trash is literally stupid, especially when we are carrying OSU’s trash out to the curb every week.

Thank you Chuck. I'll let you know when I have a newsletter. In the meantime
December 8th, 2020 at 6:21 AM ^
Sorry - you seem like a nice enough guys but opposing fans can't popcorn.gif the coaching search. Especially not Buckeye fans which might be the only major fanbase in American to not experience any actual hardship in the last 20ish year

Hey, man. I've followed Flight Aware closely every time, beginning with RR. (Which is every MGoFlight Aware there has ever been.)
I and my former co-worker (M fan, season ticket holder since ~2003, and fellow MGoUser who has posted on this very thread) update each other every day with Flight Aware (and other) reports.

If directed at me, I’m a huge Michigan fan living in Columbus. You can check my history. Just buckling up and waiting to see where this ride take us.

December 7th, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
Please take an NFL job.
The only thing that made me feel somewhat encouraged is the fact they have provisions in place to hire top assistants.
I would have to assume that it at least means DB’s shitty ass is finally gone.
December 7th, 2020 at 8:31 PM ^
Did you ever think, when Harbaugh was first hired, we’d reach a point where so many UM fans are begging him to take a job in the NFL instead of coming back to coach here next year?
Strange times indeed.
December 7th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
meh, hindsight is always 20/20
this board is now full of people who can't believe we didn't hire Dan Mullen twice, none of whom wanted us to hire Dan Mullen on either occassion
December 7th, 2020 at 9:44 PM ^
Hell, we didn't want Bo or Lloyd Carr either.
The only coach other than Harbaugh that we all universally wanted and were genuinely excited about was . . . Rich Rod.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time!
We don't know shit, until after it happens.
December 7th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
Shit is deep.
December 7th, 2020 at 9:55 PM ^
No. We all did not universally want RichRod. He was the worst hire of all the post Lloyd coaches. The UM roster and the fact his defensive coordinator did not come with him to UM was pretty much a guarantee he was going to fail.
December 7th, 2020 at 10:17 PM ^
Saw a dude elsewhere online claim, entirely earnestly, that Harbaugh is the worst coach in school history. Rich Rod got blown out by Mississippi State and lost to Toledo!
December 8th, 2020 at 1:00 AM ^
Harbaugh has averaged 9.5 wins a year coming into this season, but if you listen to this board, Harbaugh is not only the worst coach in school history, he's the worst coach in the history of football.
December 8th, 2020 at 9:32 AM ^
It's sort of asinine, really. I think it's probably time for him to go, but before this COVID year, he was 0-5 vs Ohio State, 1-4 in bowls, and 46-9 against everybody else. Those 9 losses were:
- blowout loss each at Penn State and at Wisconsin
- close losses at Penn State and at Wisconsin
- the two bizarre MSU home games
- at Iowa, at ND, at Utah
Michigan was in playoff position in both 2016 and 2018 with one game left in the regular season. To argue he's lost a step is valid (especially when it comes to identifying talent), but to say he wasn't a good coach at any point makes you an idiot.
The same goes for Don Brown. He got exposed vs OSU in 2018, but Michigan has had a Top 10 defense every year he's been here before this one. Again, the failure seems to be in identifying talent, but he was a good DC.
December 8th, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^
You can spin it anyway you want, Covid, new coordinator, opts etc. But, his trajectory is going down. He hasn't done shit since before the OSU game in 2018. That was the beginning of the end. After the subsequent blowout loss to Florida he should have replaced Brown. There was too much talent on that defense to get shredded like that.
December 8th, 2020 at 10:29 AM ^
I'm not a math guy, but that average isn't gonna be 9.5 in about a week or so...
December 8th, 2020 at 12:35 PM ^
Were either of those teams 0-5 at the time?
December 8th, 2020 at 12:23 AM ^
Yep. And if Harbaugh with the help of some new staff turns things around in the next couple years like Brian Kelly (or Beilein) everyone will love him again.
Personally that's what I'm rooting for. I think we have at least a 30% chance of getting back to 10+ wins and being competitive with OSU in the next few years if we can weather the storm of this batshit year and get some good assistants. I don't think there's a coach out there who gives us a better probability, and we'd probably lose more recruits and current players by firing him and starting over. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I prefer that to the alternative.
December 8th, 2020 at 5:35 AM ^
How many assistants has Harbaugh gone through? What makes you think the new ones are going to be any better? Remember that this current staff was compiled by Harbaugh.
December 8th, 2020 at 5:34 AM ^
Fuck that. Not all of us were excited about Rich Rod.
December 8th, 2020 at 6:18 AM ^
Not true, I had a long post about what a great hire Bo would be. It blew up the internet.
December 8th, 2020 at 10:16 AM ^
What the hell did I do?!?
December 8th, 2020 at 11:08 AM ^
This is the single most false post I have seen on mgoblog.
RR was NOT universally wanted. And if anything, you could have said Hoke was universally wanted, to get back to the percieved norm of traditional Michigan football.... and saying that would also have been wrong... but would have at least been plausible. Sheesh...
December 7th, 2020 at 11:36 PM ^
2013, when the Hoke/Borges era was turning into a disaster: "pay Kevin Sumlin whatever he wants!"
December 8th, 2020 at 1:07 AM ^
Many of us wanted Mullen in 2014. All we heard was "he hasn't really done much at Mississippi State, we can do better".
People were going nuts about hiring Harbaugh in 2011 with a 29-21 record at Stanford but scoffed at the idea of Dan Mullen and are doing the same with Matt Campbell. Why? Michigan Man.
December 7th, 2020 at 9:22 PM ^
Yes. Because that’s who we are and what we do.
December 7th, 2020 at 9:32 PM ^
Sad sad times. I never thought I would ever utter “FIRE HARBAUGH”
December 7th, 2020 at 9:39 PM ^
Yep, can’t believe we are all hoping for a coaching change. Thought he was the savior.
December 7th, 2020 at 10:27 PM ^
I’m not.
I hope he stays, wins Saturday if they play, turns it around, and picks an heir apparent. That’s the best case scenario.
If we get a change, I’ll root for the new guy. But I’d prefer Harbaugh turns it around
December 8th, 2020 at 5:16 AM ^
I’m with you on this one. You’ll never find another coach who cares more about our success. Even though things seem bleak. I just don’t understand how people see any man as a savior to anything man made. Football is a sport and it’s controlled by lots of variables. GO BLUE!!!
December 8th, 2020 at 7:56 AM ^
I've never actually seen anyone call a coach their savior. It's always said by the opponents of said coach. I.e. yOu ThInK mAtT CaMPbElL iS yOuR SaVioR hE cAnT eVeN BeaT IoWa
December 8th, 2020 at 9:30 AM ^
I hope all of our coaches have huge incentive clauses for wins and championships. It certainly doesn’t look like it on the field.
