I’m really interested to see the hire here because as Brian has said several times, all Warde’s major decisions to this point have been pretty gift-wrapped. I’m not a fan but if he wants to rehab his image to the fan base, nailing this hire is an absolute must
For a large portion of my childhood I thought that being born on leap day meant you aged at 1/4 the rate everyone else did, meaning i thought leap day babies were developmentally adolescents until like 80 years old.

I'm Alex's age so my memory of bona-fide NFL guys is very limited, but I cannot believe that Jabrill didn't turn into something more than an average NFL safety. He's so explosive and has such rare acceleration and IQ and he's been a replacement-level guy. Continues to make me wish he had played slot WR or come along a bit later and been able to fill a Deebo roll in college to prep for the NFL instead of playing a dying HSP role that didn't develop him to be an LB or Nickel well enough for the league
Polk is a great WR in his own right, I think comp for this WR room is 2021 OSU (Wilson/Olave/JSN)—deep, talented, can’t necessarily take away all the weapons. We’ve been fortunate the past few games that we could play Jordan Rules with their #1 WR and neutralize a big part of the passing attack, not so sure that’ll be the case with UW
With that being said, our secondary is on a ridiculous tear and if they can keep mixing coverages and getting pressure up front like they do it may not matter who’s running routes
Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that our coach DID adapt to changing tides? Harbaugh changed everything about the staff/culture/system to elevate this program. He’s a legend for that

I had this same feeling for a minute, but especially after last week I watched how the coaches have futzed around with everyone’s PT and realized that the most likely explanation for all of these head-scratching decisions is that they genuinely have viewed the beginning of this season as a preseason. It feels like they’ve been stress-testing depth more than doing things out of necessity.
I think the run game struggling was more a function of ECU doing the TCU thing on defense and less actually struggling. There were just 8 dudes in the box all the time, it was a bummer not to see the RBs go crazy but JJ more than made up for it
It's got to be a bad sign for McCord that it took this long right? Brown literally couldn't play all spring and it took Day until week 1 to decide that McCord was in fact better.
Brian made a point in 15.0c that this might be OSU's first developmental season at QB since... before Troy Smith? I was born in 1999, I literally do not have a sentient memory of OSU having a below-average QB. I could not be more excited to watch them play ND in a few weeks

They did point out in the piece that in the short term it made the Big Ten a shit-ton of money, and if cord-cutting hadn’t become normative just a few short years later I think we’d be singing a different tune. So I think it’s unfair to say Delaney completely whiffed on Rutgers

They’re an absolute anchor, and when we talk about realignment $$ and how the pie gets cut it sickens me to think that Oregon will make $40 million/year less than RUTGERS simply because of a geography/chronology thing. If their financial instability is as pervasive as this Athletic article claims, we should cut bait and not look back
The Game on Thanksgiving has been a staple of my schedule, I live just outside Chicago in Indiana and my Mom & Dad live just east of East Lansing, so it’s between 3-4 hours to get to their house. Having the long weekend makes it almost automatic to get my wife to agree to drive home to visit family and watch the Game with my brothers, uncle, dad and grandpa. I would rend my garments if it were moved if only because it would infringe on my ability to make sure I watch UM-OSU with family

For all you ‘crootin doomers out there, we would all do well to remember the 4 alarm fire we all reported in QB recruiting after Dante Moore committed to Oregon and CJ Carr committed to ND. When the top 2 targets on the board fell away, the staff simply went out and got Jaydyn Davis and put themselves in the catbird seat for Bryce Underwood. I think narrowly missing on one CB is something that can be remedied
Rumor has it that Ishbia is footing the bill for only half of this Watchlist Appearance despite previous reports that he was on the hook for the full amount
This might be a ridiculous thing to ask but is this an attractive job to any of our “4 potential HCs on staff?” NW loses some shine with the Big Ten West dying next year but it’s still a P5 job in the strongest conference in CFB with a track record of being okay with a terrible football program. The bar for Fitzgerald was literally “don’t get caught in a massive hazing scandal and otherwise you’re good.”
I don’t really think assistants leave UM this late in the game because you’re essentially locked in to a bad first 2 years at this point vs probably going to the CFP, but that job has to be really attractive to some dudes if the boys in Evanston come calling
Big huge fan. I love the swagger and identity beginning to develop around this team. Whether or not they live up to the hype is obviously TBD but I feel like Lions football is fun and I’m looking forward to it, which is the first time in my life (24 y/o) that I can confidently say that. Go (Honolulu) Blue!
