Blake Corum flashes #65 on his TD for Zak. On the very next play.
I love how these kids love each other and are in tune
That’s a Harbaugh locker room.

Broken tibia and fibia. Unbroken 3-0 record. Heal up and dominate the NFL, 65.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:01 PM ^
I believe it’s tibia and fibula.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:12 PM ^
Halfway through a celebratory bottle of Blanton’s, it becomes a fibia
November 25th, 2023 at 9:36 PM ^
+1 for Blanton's 🥃
November 25th, 2023 at 9:38 PM ^
I have a bottle that I break out for two occasions - The Game and Christmas. Today was a good day.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:44 PM ^
Oh yeah? Then where is the tibula?
November 25th, 2023 at 9:03 PM ^
As mentioned below, tibia and fibula.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:00 PM ^
Get well young man! Thanks for coming back to help this great team get to their 12-0 record! You are a Legend on the O Line!

He should take pride for the rest of his life for breaking a leg while kicking buckeye nation square in the ass.

Love this
ZZ is our jolly good fellow! Warrior and leader. Won't ever buy a dinner or drink the rest of his life in AA.

God bless Zak Zinter
God bless Mr and Mrs Zinter
God bless Meeeechigan!!!
November 25th, 2023 at 9:44 PM ^
Encouraging. Thank you for sharing the full story, in non-ESPN linked format.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:01 PM ^
Don’t know details of the fracture locations but overall not terrible. Assuming no arterial injury or injury to the joints.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:49 PM ^
This may sound weird, but broken bones are likely an easier recovery that what could have happened. My daughter snapped her fibula playing soccer. She was really lucky, could have been much worse.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:02 PM ^
Glad it wasn't more serious, with long-term consequences. Rest, heal up and have a great NFL career!
November 25th, 2023 at 9:02 PM ^
Win three for the Zinter!
GO BLUE!

“When it happened, I looked back and Zak was screaming and (right tackle) Karsen (Barnhart) was literally holding (Zinter’s) foot as it was just limp,” McCarthy said. “It was a sight I don’t wish upon anyone to see. And at that moment, seeing the look in everybody’s eyes, seeing them rally together, there was something about it. It was spiritual, honestly. It was a different drive that came out of everybody after that happened because we’re doing for one of our leaders and one of the brothers we all love.”

Thanks for everything Big Z.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:04 PM ^
Loved JJ hugging ZZ's mom as he was being cared for.
And Corum flashing 6, 5 after he scored.
Great culture on this team.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:09 PM ^
Seeing that almost broke me. JJ is all class.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:09 PM ^
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't bones easier to heal than ligaments? depending on the type of break, I guess.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:14 PM ^
You’re not wrong. As long as the bones can be set well and secured he can make a 100% recovery. With any ligament injury there are likely to be issues, if not right away than somewhere down the line (arthritis, joint weakness, bone spurs or adhesions due to alignment changes in the joint, etc).
November 25th, 2023 at 9:18 PM ^
"It depends" is the cheap answer but really the only correct one. Tonights surgery will likely be what we call an "ex fix", temporary stabilization of the bones, with definitive surgeries to follow in the next days/weeks. I'm interpreting surgery being ~4-5 hours after arriving at the hospital to mean there were no major injuries to blood vessels, no concern for a compartment system syndrome of the leg (meaning a devastating limb threatening emergency, like tiger woods had), and that he was overall very stable. If this was a severe, limb threatening, injury I can promise you they wouldn't be letting him FaceTime the team in the ER. Reading the medical tea leaves leaves me optimistic for our dude to make a good recovery.
November 26th, 2023 at 1:28 AM ^
Not necessarily true.
My guess is that his injury was relatively straightforward in terms of his fracture and soft tissue injury, hence the early definitive fixation of his fractures. His posts after surgery don't show an ex-fix on his leg, just bandages. he likely had definitive treatment, not what we would call a "temporizing surgery" like an external fixator.
All good signs for his recovery. he should return to 100% after his fracture heals and has a good chance to be back for fall camp in the league without any residuals.
Get well soon Zak!
Thank you for all you did for the team, the team, the team!

This is actually very good news. More gruesome when it happens but better long term healing than ligament injuries.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:13 PM ^
More about this tomorrow, but Barnhart sliding to guard seemed like a natural fit. Trente Jones came in at RT.
Next season, I've projected Hinton - El-Hadi - Crippen - Barnhart - Jones
...so this could be a preview of the right side of the OL in 2024.
For this season, Hinton becomes the 6th OL unless we start Hinton at RT and keep Jones as the 6th OL.
Get well, Zak! Tough way to end your college career, but he gave it all!
November 25th, 2023 at 9:36 PM ^
Bro don't project anything. There are 3-5 OL waiting to portal in. We cannot take any undergrads from Harvard Yale MIT or Stanford because their credits are shit to our admissions but grad transfers yes.
November 26th, 2023 at 1:40 AM ^
underrated comment
November 25th, 2023 at 9:14 PM ^
Hate this for Zac - legend, came back. Went 3-0 against OSU. What type of recovery is this? What will it do to his draft stock?
November 25th, 2023 at 9:37 PM ^
Guards generally don't go high like tackles, it was looking like 2nd round for him as a top 2-3 guard. If he drops to the 4th a very savvy franchise like the Steelers or Packers will take him and wait on a year and get an All Pro for a decade.
p.s. the Lions probably need to let Jonah Jackson go as they pay their tackles and center, cannot pay everyone with a lot of extensions about to hit - this is exactly the type of leader and warrior you want to draft in the 3rd round.
November 26th, 2023 at 12:29 AM ^
I could see them doing this, and hope they do!
November 26th, 2023 at 1:19 AM ^
Holmes will snag him at some point
November 25th, 2023 at 9:15 PM ^
Heal well and be well Zak ! Thanks for a great college career, everything you contributed to Michigan football, and helping Michigan go 3 & 0 vs. OSU.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:19 PM ^
Good luck Zak. You will always be a legend in Ann Arbor. We love you and God bless you, young man! Your future is bright!
November 25th, 2023 at 9:28 PM ^
Get well, Zak.
And don't ever play in The Game again.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:52 PM ^
Deep down, you’re a good dude. A dick, but a good dude ;-)
November 25th, 2023 at 9:30 PM ^
Wish him a full and speedy recovery. It sucks but it seems like guys recovery from so many injuries that used to be career enders that I assume he'll be able to play in the NFL.
November 25th, 2023 at 9:32 PM ^
A lot of NFL teams are going to get a 12 year all pro guard if they can sit on him for 9 months. Lions pls go get this guy in the 3rd or 4th, he was a 2nd round grade at worst healthy.
