Siap, interesting bowl projections with connections to Michigan.

Submitted by poseidon7902 on
ESPN has posted their bowl projections and Hale has Michigan playing Arizona in the holiday bowl while Bonagura has them playing Stanford in the foster farms bowl. Just found the potential connections to coaches and the university intriguing. Obviously winning out puts us in something a little better than those.

56 yards in the air is very unlikely to get it done against Wisconsin or OSU. Does that make me a Buckeye troll too?

Did we need to throw the ball? Was the weather shit? It was the first start for a freshman QB! I thought the kid played just fine. He wasn't asked to do much, and the pass blocking wasn't great. Ruiz struggled badly vs stunts and twists. Peters presented enough of a threat as a passer that our ground game became unstoppable. I have little doubt that peters will get better from here on out.

Obviously I agree with you from the standpoint that 56 pass yards likely won't get it done vs wiscy or the buckeyes, but with our run game hitting it's strides, peters doesn't need to be a world beater for us to have success against the remaining teams on our schedule.

No, we didn't need to throw the ball against Minnesota, but as I think you imply, Wisconsin and OSU are going to present much more of a defensive challenge. There's no doubt that our OL run blocking is vastly better than it was at the beginning of the season, and Higdon and Evans have proven they're capable of hitting the home run if they just get a crease. I'm just skeptical we can be as one-dimensional against the Badgers or Buckeyes and be successful.

The onus will be on Peters to be able to deliver strikes downfield with consistency and regularity, and he hasn't had the chance yet to prove he can do that with an OL that still struggles in pass pro and young receivers who still have trouble getting separation. Maryland is going to be an interesting test opportunity.

Agreed.

Unless Higdon + Evans get their Tim Biakabutuka on collectively, defeating Wisco and OSU will be tough.

I think we match up better with Wisconsin especially now since they lost their most consistent WR for the season it seems.

Whoever manages to rush for more wins that match up. Peters just needs to do enough with DPJ and the TEs to keep the defense honest.

OSU on the other hand, have the athletes to match up toe to toe with us. Going to need Peters to make some plays to win.

I assume these are bowls projecting us at 8-4 with losses to OSU and Wisconsin. I am starting to think we more likely than not beat either OSU or Wisconsin. We are playing good football now.

I mean, kind of? We have some definite flaws, especially if we get behind and have to pass to catch up, OL had major issues keeping Peters clean even against MN. OSU and Wiscy gonna tee off and knock him out of the game unless we make big strides in the next couple weeks.

OSU and Wisconsin have flaws too. Wisconsin is not as talented as us this year, they were in a very close game with Purdue recently. They have a good running game with Taylor, but that plays to our strength in stopping the run.

OSU was exposed by Iowa and Oklahoma. The gameplan on how to beat them is already written.

I like our chances to pull off one of two upsets. Two of two is a stretch goal.

Is it really worse than the “Foster Farms” Bowl? Can’t they just put a random word in between farms and bowl to make it sound not so terribly cheap? Like even the Foster Farms California Bowl or something that stupid sounds infinitely less stupid than just a sponsor.

Palm is predicting that no one in the B1G besides Wisconsin make a NY6 bowl. I find it hard to believe that will happen ... Chances are a 10-2 Penn State or Ohio State (or both) sneak into NY6 bowls. If that happens, Michigan's bowl opportunities improve significantly.

Better yet, Michigan beats OSU, Wisconsin, or both, and does no worse than the Outback. Win 'em all and it's Michigan sneaking into a NY6 bowl.

I agree that the Outback Bowl is in play, but honestly... is the Outback Bowl really that much better than the Holiday Bowl? It's not like facing off with Mississippi State is any better than playing Washington State, we have gone to a Florida bowl game the past two years so California would be something new. The only benefit is playing on NYD, which I don't think really matters anymore. Especially if we're playing a ranked Pac-12 team in primetime. Playing Arizona, Stanford, Wazzou, or USC is infinitely more interesting to me than an SEC team.

Losing a bowl game to AZ and RR would be "fun" in the way that disaster movies or chainsaw movies are "fun." MGoBlog would be a special place to be in that scenario.

Over the other toilet bowls listed. Show old RR that his spread does not work when it faces a good D. We know by experience from those lousy years he gave us! Even though Harbaugh should of just kept running on State, I think we would have won if he did. I like how this team is progressing. Now lets work on the passing game against Maryland.
