OT-Any disc golfers on this board?

Submitted by Lordfoul on
I used to play a lot of disc golf during my Ann Arbor years. It is the perfect sport for the college years, shorter time to play and free for the most part. There are a lot of great courses around Ann Arbor too. I still play as much as possible and was wondering how wide spread disc golf is in the Michigan fan base. So who chucks the discs?

There are some ridiculous courses around Ann Arbor, but the Monster course at Hudson Mills is by far the craziest. The Monster hole is the longest hole I have ever heard of (like 1038 feet ). That shit is CRAZY. And to anyone who has never tried playing disc golf, its easy and awesome. Why pay hundreds for golf clubs and pay for tee times when you can outfit yourself in top of the line discing gear for like 40 bucks (less for not as sweet stuff). Do yourself a favor, try it

Disc golf is just plain fun. And way easier than actual golf (though I do enjoy actual golf as well). FTR, its not just for hippies, but lazy people everywhere.

I can't believe someone posted this topic on this board. When I was in AA, I used to play all the time. By my senior year, I was competing at the professional level in tournaments. I was an average pro (PDGA player rating hovered around 980), but I have since lost my touch. I do not play as much anymore as I do not have any free time. Graduate school sucks the live out of you. I really miss playing disc golf in AA. My favorite courses were Hudson Mills, Cass Benton, and Riverbends. I also used to play Brown park alot since it was so close to campus.

I learned to play out at Hudson Mills and I'll always love those 48 holes, but the courses in and near Portland, OR are out of this world.

Great to hear that there are a few people here that understand how great disc golf is. I just played my first tourney in 3 years (just got back from 2 yrs in the Caribbean last fall) and placed 4th out of 25 in my division (MA2). I was pretty stoked to play well. Someday I am going to build the best disc golf course in the world and you are all invited!
