New Years Resolution

Submitted by Honest Abe on
Happy New Year's Eve! Hope everyone had a good year. Things are going good and hope next year does too. What is your NY resolution? Mine is to be nicer and to make myself more useful. The latter will be harder than the former I'm afraid. Start the New Year off right and get hammered tonight folks.

I’ve got two that are related. I’ve concentrated on being s good husband and employee over the last several years, I’ve neglected my parents and friends. I resolve to be a better Son and a better friend in 2018.

Maybe you can shed some light on reasons people have to give up coffee. Are there health risks associated with straight up black coffee that I don’t know about? Or are you the type that likes lots of additives in it and that’s why you have to quit it? I like coffee but only have one cup a day. 2 max. I would love to be enlightened, if you could, on the negatives of coffee.

Have never seen anything negative about it (only positives), except for physical reliance. I started getting headaches on days where I couldn't have it, and the benefits started rolling away (e.g. I could have a coffee with dinner and still fall asleep). I actually gave up add-ins a few years ago and had been drinking it black for the past few years. God, I love a good cup of coffee.

suggest far more health benefits than risks (particularly for straight black).

It sounds like your routine needs changing more than your raw coffee intake.  Try getting a wakeup routine that dosn't start with coffee, then space a 2nd cup closer to lunch, so no obvious coffee/crash.  The routine "addiction" may be causing more problems than the actual product.

I don't like cofree, don't "need it" in the morning either, but still drink some each day.

Great idea. I wish I could create a regular morning routine, but am not sure that's in my near future. I travel frequently but not predictably for work, and have two kids under three. I like the idea of waiting until say 11a to get coffee. I probably only need a few days to kick it, we'll see how it goes. Nothing wrong with drinking more tea for a year either.
