This could actually be a an upgrade as far as recruiting is concerned.

This would be an A hire, maybe even A+. Fingers crossed.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:26 PM ^
let's hope so.
but if it is, then in ten years when Sherrone leaves for the commanders (or whatever they're named that week) after winning his third NC, he will probably take this guy Scruggs I'd previously never ever heard of before with him and I will accuse Sherrone of nefariously "gutting the program on his way out".

Unbelievable. It's beyond outrageous that Warde will still be gainfully employed in ten years.

This is the best post on here since the national championship game! Hilarious!
February 12th, 2024 at 4:38 PM ^
And by that time Harbaugh will have won a superbowl and can return to coach Michigan.

Shut the fuck up about Warde already. We get it.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:27 PM ^
I'm in the middle on this.
Not sure which is worse, the Warde-firers or the "I don't want to hear the Warde-firers".
February 11th, 2024 at 11:42 PM ^
I seek peace and the middle ground by being exhaustingly contrarian at all times.

The real Chuck Norris would round-house kick the board for peace.

The REAL Chuck Norris wouldn't have to round-house kick the board for peace. He would simply raise his leg as a threat and the entire Internet would surrender.

My well-placed sources in the AD tell me that Warde is a pyromaniac.

That's why he has a fire extinguisher in all his cars, now it all makes sense.

February 12th, 2024 at 11:18 AM ^
So HE is the guy behind all those couch fires in EL?
February 12th, 2024 at 2:54 AM ^
I think Warde has done a terrible job as AD and deserves to be out on his keister with no delay. Despite that, in the last few months he has proven his value as a target for scorn. Now I don’t know what we would do if he actually was fired.
February 12th, 2024 at 7:55 AM ^
We would bring back Brandon.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:05 AM ^
That’s a bit of “both-sidesing” that doesn’t seem necessary here. There is one side that is creating 3 independent threads a day on the same topic and then also turning 1/2 of all other threads into insults, recriminations and massive negativity.
Regardless of the merit of each position, I think there’s a clear answer on which side is worse.

Elston was our recruiting coordinator so what makes you think he will be an upgrade in that department?
February 11th, 2024 at 11:35 PM ^
He was the director of player development at Cincinnati and reportedly a hell of a recruiter.
February 12th, 2024 at 12:13 AM ^
But D line recruiting, talent evaluation, and development have been outstanding the past few years. Not sure about an "upgrade", but holding at the same level would be a win.

February 12th, 2024 at 11:10 AM ^
Yeah, upgrade feels like a stretch given how elite Elston was at player development and recruiting. Staying close to the same level is a win right now.
If we pick up Corey Parker from Toledo, I'll feel very good about our defensive recruiting ability.
February 12th, 2024 at 1:32 PM ^
Yes! This guy appears to fill two crucial needs: Very good position coach and excellent recruiter. He evidently excels at finding somewhat under-the-radar guys who end up as NFL-caliber players. Exactly what we need.
February 12th, 2024 at 4:19 PM ^
For the record, I like the hire. I just thought it was a bit of a stretch to say he is an upgrade at recruiting considering Elston is great at it.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:09 PM ^
Considering our luck lately with coaches, I’ll believe it when it’s announced for sure. Haven’t seen anything official from football on Wink that I can remember.
February 12th, 2024 at 8:07 AM ^
Maybe he’ll get hired and immediately follow Harbaugh to the Chargers.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:09 PM ^
I'd the insiders are saying it then it's not happening
February 11th, 2024 at 11:15 PM ^
Yea, our insiders are absolute trash. Wake me up if this actually ends up happening.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:10 PM ^
Ironically, your post bumped the first one about this off the front page: https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/scruggs-contacted-potential-dl-coach
February 12th, 2024 at 12:10 AM ^
That was his plan all along! Genius!
February 11th, 2024 at 11:13 PM ^
Is this good?
February 11th, 2024 at 11:14 PM ^
Well it looks like Sam is right again. This would be a huge hire.
Keep it rolling Coach Moore.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:16 PM ^
Is the next I hear about this guy when he gets his new contract at Wisc?
February 11th, 2024 at 11:29 PM ^
"The allure of a new opportunity at a prestigious program like Michigan, the easier recruiting sell, and the potential for career advancement and financial gain made this a no-brainer move for Scruggs. It’s important to recognize that the departed staff members aren’t necessarily “Wisconsin guys” and are simply working their way up the ladder through opportunities at more prestigious programs.
In his first full recruiting cycle with the Badgers, Scruggs landed two four-star defensive linemen in Ernest Willor Jr. and Dillan Johnson. For context, Wisconsin had only landed two composite four-star DLs since 2016.
The former Wisconsin Badgers defensive line coach was reportedly courted with a significant raise. Moreover, a personal connection exists between Scruggs and Moore, stemming from their time together at the University of Louisville."

Amaizing!!!
February 11th, 2024 at 11:27 PM ^
Excellent hire - if it happens.
His Cincinnati roots will hopefully boost UM recruiting in SW Ohio and overall Ohio.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:31 PM ^
I think Scruggs is a huge get for us. Guy who played in the NFL, super young, and coached under Fickel who has done a great job identifying coaching talent.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:34 PM ^
Does this mean he will be signing with the chargers on Monday?
February 11th, 2024 at 11:34 PM ^
Greg Buster Scruggs. Michigan should get a reward out of this as well.
February 11th, 2024 at 11:36 PM ^
We can haz nice things?!?
February 11th, 2024 at 11:42 PM ^
Please close this deal. Fingers crossed.
