Jim McElwain to replace Dan Enos spot?

According to Brandon Justice, Jim McElwain was on Michigan’s campus today for a job interview. Most likely an assistant. Via Twitter.

It just looks like the old boy network spins its roulette wheel and we make another uninspired hire. This is the guy who left Florida in disgrace after saying his family was getting death threats!

Somebody who really really knows your stuff, tell me this is the hire that puts us over the top.

It wasn't so long ago that a young up and coming coach came to Ann Arbor and was the masturbatory fantasy of Mgobelievers around the country.  Look what he did at Alabama they would gleefully chime.

Yeah, look what he did to Michigan they would gloomily say 11 months later.

Don't get me wrong, I can see a lot of good with going with a young coach, but we're talking about being an assistant for Jim Harbaugh.  I think somebody with proven creds and the character to stand up with Harbaugh is needed.  Don Brown is that man for the defense, I've no idea if Drevno is, I suspect he does what he's told without question, same same with Hamiliton.

Aside from his hire of Nussmeier, McElwain has a pretty good track record and is far from an ingratiating yes man.

always be a Michigan fan and only follow UF sports because they are close at hand. McElwain is fresh off a pretty comprehensive failure in Gainesville and was the butt of a lot of jokes toward the end. Among his f-ups was really poor player management; he is a thoroughly unconvincing public presence. If he comes to Michigan I will wish him well.

1) if you're a good offensive coach, you should know better than to hire Nuss and

2) even if you do, you don't let him ruin your offense (if you supposedly can coach a good offense maybe you should make sure you do the good plays and not the bad ones that he does).
