This is the Seinfeld post.  It’s about nothing.

02/14/2019 - 4:16pm Today may be Valentine’s Day…

Today may be Valentine’s Day, but a lot of the comments on stars make me feel more like it is Groundhog’s Day.

02/12/2019 - 8:47am Yeah, you are definitely…

Yeah, you are definitely reaching.  You seem to be questioning the integrity of these guys.  Really unwarranted.

02/08/2019 - 8:52pm Wait, where is the cooler?

Wait, where is the cooler?

02/07/2019 - 3:41pm I remember being at his…

I remember being at his first game as manager of the Indians when he homered in his first at bat.  As the friend I was with at the time said, “a great moment in sports.”

02/06/2019 - 4:27pm Mattison was a great coach…

Mattison was a great coach for us for a long time, but I was wondering even before he left  just how well a 70 year old could recruit 17 year old kids.  It’s like your grandfather recruiting you.  An energetic grandfather, sure, but still he has to seem ancient to high schoolers.

02/06/2019 - 2:59pm It’s sort of a shame Bielema…

It’s sort of a shame Bielema didn’t stick at Arkansas. He is built to be a Razorback.

02/05/2019 - 4:00pm When that weasel Art Modell…

When that weasel Art Modell moved his franchise, he and the league agreed that the team records would stay behind with the expansion team to replace his franchise.  Morrow, Hoard and Alexander were primarily Browns, not Ravens.  Morrow never even played in Baltimore.

02/03/2019 - 10:38pm Elvis!  I know he’s out…

Elvis!  I know he’s out there somewhere.

02/03/2019 - 10:35pm Almost unfathomable.  30…

Almost unfathomable.  30 career playoff wins.  Next best for a QB is 16 for Montana.   Ageless.  And a class act.

02/03/2019 - 7:06pm Wallet Hub rankings of…

Wallet Hub rankings of anything seem pretty consistently deeply subjective if not fairly arbitrary.

02/03/2019 - 9:10am Of all the really odd,…

Of all the really odd, puzzling topics posted on this blog, this may be the oddest.

02/02/2019 - 7:57pm Hutchinson absolutely should…

Hutchinson absolutely should have gotten in too.  He was the most dominant guard out there for years.  Hopefully next year.

02/01/2019 - 1:54pm Only a frat mentality…

Only a frat mentality enhanced by six or eight beers . . .

02/01/2019 - 1:47pm It is odd to see so many…

It is odd to see so many potential recruits mention Purdue as a possibility.  It will be interesting to see if this presages a rebirth of competitive Purdue football, or is just a short term flash.

01/31/2019 - 7:42pm So you’re saying they won’t…

So you’re saying they won’t be competing effectively for many years to come, if ever.

01/31/2019 - 4:06pm SEC had to add Missouri so…

SEC had to add Missouri so one of its schools would be available to get punished for something the real SEC schools have probably gotten away with for years.

01/30/2019 - 7:59pm Unless someone shit in her…

Unless someone shit in her cooler, she needs to relax.

01/30/2019 - 3:32pm I think a lot of this odd…

I think a lot of this odd stuff comes down to the kid’s advisors.  If you have someone telling you, look, you have a lot of talent, but a lot to learn.  Go where you can learn and if it takes a bit longer to go pro, so be it.  You will be better prepared.  If you have people telling you how great you are and that you should be on the court immediately, you are going to fall for the idea that you can step right in and play.  For every LeBron James who could step right in, there are 100 guys like Hardaway and Burke and Matthews who improved dramatically with good teaching and have or will play pro ball.  You need good confidants when you are 17.

01/28/2019 - 6:44pm Yes, and when three guys…

Yes, and when three guys test positive, you have to think the trainers are the source, especially when the school chooses not to test anyone else.  And Lawrence’s claim he has “no idea” how the stuff got into his system is pretty laughable.  It didn’t come from eating cheeseburgers.

01/25/2019 - 10:20am Just looking at that list of…

Just looking at that list of linebackers is fascinating: some great players, some decent ones, some who were mishandled (Gedeon, who should have red shirted), and some who never made it.  You never really know until you see how kids adjust to college life and get on the field.

01/24/2019 - 3:35pm I am really looking forward…

I am really looking forward to seeing Hinton and Smith on the DL in another year or so.  I expect both will be big time players.  I also hope Hinton loves Michigan so much he persuades his brother to join him!

01/24/2019 - 12:39pm Everyone in town knew…

Everyone in town knew Lombardi was a bad apple when Haslem hired him.  Everyone in town knew the team had underachieved even for a bad team when Haslem brought Jackson back this past season.  And everyone was sick and tired of Jackson making excuses and throwing other people under the bus.  Presumably, Dorsey has earned a good deal of latitude running the team with his picks of Mayfield, Ward and Chubb, all of whom played excellent football. And Kitchens showed what the Browns have in Mayfield when he took over the offense.  But bad starts at the top, and Haslem (and his predecessor, Randy Lerner, who never really wanted to own the team but had to take over when his father died) is a bad owner.  Whether he has learned his lesson remains to be seen, but there is at least a chance he has.

01/23/2019 - 12:37pm He was also fired by idiot…

He was also fired by idiot owner-meddler Art Modell.

01/23/2019 - 10:09am Man, you would really have…

Man, you would really have to swallow your pride to stick around as mere QB coach.  On the other hand, $1.4 million makes swallowing a lot easier.  Hope it works out and his continued presence does not become an issue.  Not sure it wouldn’t be better to just buy out his contract and move on.

01/22/2019 - 9:35pm Barkley?  Hell, take a look…

Barkley?  Hell, take a look at Shawn Kemp.  Even at the end of his playing career, he was huge.

01/21/2019 - 10:15pm Teams get hot and cold.  The…

Teams get hot and cold.  The key is to be hot when March rolls around.

01/21/2019 - 9:38am Not lining up offsides has…

Not lining up offsides has to be the easiest thing to do in football.  I have zero sympathy for anyone who cannot master that simple task.

01/20/2019 - 10:27pm Especially the three third…

Especially the three third and long completions.  Wow.  Hell of a game, and incredibly clutch performance.

01/20/2019 - 7:42pm I didn’t have a dog in this…

I didn’t have a dog in this fight, but that no call on the PI at the end was one of the most egregious errors I can recall seeing in a big game.  It was obvious in real time on TV.  I get they were “letting them play” for most of the game, but the defender never looked back, ran the receiver over and hit him in the helmet before the ball was close to arriving.  Rams should be going home, not to the SB.

01/16/2019 - 8:39am kids really can get screwed…

kids really can get screwed in recruiting.  Tate would have been perfect as a successor to Barrett if the Ohio State offense had remained what it was.  Sort of like the QB who transferred in to Michigan (drawing a blank on his name)  who would have been fine in Lloyd’s offense, but suddenly Rrod was running the show.  A good reason not to get upset when someone transfers out for whatever reason, recruits need to look out for themselves.  That said, would be super sweet if Fields is not declared eligible to play this year.

01/15/2019 - 12:08pm True, but you can go further…

True, but you can go further.  The backup QB is the fan favorite player for any team at any level that isn’t dominating offensively.

01/12/2019 - 7:37pm Wow, it is always a great…

Wow, it is always a great day when Ohio State loses, whatever Duke may do.  Excellent.

01/12/2019 - 3:16pm To each his own.  I remember…

To each his own.  I remember the first time I was in Florida in June a long time ago.  Got off an airplane before the days of air conditioned jetways. I immediately broke into a sweat.  Got my rental car and let the air run about five minutes before I could get in and drive.  And I wondered, “how can anyone stand to live in this weather?”  Yeah, there is air conditioning, but there is heating up north too.

01/12/2019 - 3:12pm Alabama tried to hire…

Alabama tried to hire Partridge away from us a year or so back.  Poking them isn’t going to change how they act, they will do whatever they want.  We should do the same.

01/10/2019 - 6:49pm Well, just so long as…

Well, just so long as Rutgers doesn’t come and poach him to run their defense after a year.

01/10/2019 - 3:51pm Ohio State wants to raid our…

Ohio State wants to raid our staff?  Hell, let’s raid Alabama’s.  Seriously, sure hope this guy brings a wide-open mindset, and is given the authority to implement it.

01/10/2019 - 2:23pm Seems absurd that he would…

Seems absurd that he would gain immediate eligibility, but he has the same lawyer Shea had, and the guy, who is a serious lawyer from a good firm, says he expects him to gain eligibility and there is more to the story than has been reported, so maybe he succeeds.

01/10/2019 - 2:19pm Joe Burrows would have been…

Joe Burrows would have been smart to get out of Columbus earlier than he did.  Maybe Tate just learned from watching how that played out.

01/10/2019 - 2:06pm Interesting.  Even if he…

Interesting.  Even if he stays, you have to wonder what his teammates will think of this.

01/10/2019 - 1:11pm He should talk to Drew…

He should talk to Drew Henson about this.  And ask himself if he is confident he will be able to hit a major league breaking ball.

01/09/2019 - 5:33pm Maybe he’s waving goodbye to…

Maybe he’s waving goodbye to Mattison and Washington?

01/08/2019 - 2:43pm If Day is making staffing…

If Day is making staffing decisions based on what will please the irrational fan base, then he is an idiot and will fail as a coach.  I suspect he is not an idiot.

01/08/2019 - 2:39pm You don’t become a…

You don’t become a championship team by hiring coaches to spite your rivals, and I find it difficult to believe that is what OSU did.  You hire the best qualified guy you can get.  Seems they must have felt having Mattison with an NFL guy as co-coordinator for a couple years was right for them.  We’ll see if they were right or not.

01/08/2019 - 9:45am Yeah, Alabama could have…

Yeah, Alabama could have used our cornerbacks last night.  Also could have used Dax Hill.

01/08/2019 - 9:43am Wojo wrote a similar article…

Wojo wrote a similar article a couple days ago.  I imagine we will see more of the same, using different words, in the months to come.

01/07/2019 - 10:48pm Yeah, if you have a great…

Yeah, if you have a great talent at QB.

01/07/2019 - 10:46pm Just checking the highlights…

Just checking the highlights from time to time,  I understand why Alabama felt it needed Dax Hill at safety.

01/07/2019 - 3:21pm I don’t think Urban is…

I don’t think Urban is coaching there any more, is he?

01/07/2019 - 3:20pm Ah, but next year, when we…

Ah, but next year, when we open up our offense and throw the ball to our playmakers in space, GM will be befuddled because he will never have seen Michigan do that!
