Id rather dominate in state recruiting as opposed to New Jersey

Fortunately it's not an either/or.  UM is always going to be a popular destination for in-state kids.  Out-of-state is the bigger variable and that's the point of having coaches with ties to certain states.

01/14/2019 - 1:49pm To be fair, the poll isn't…

To be fair, the poll isn't about how good they've been historically, it's about how good they are now.  They're undefeated, like us.

01/13/2019 - 11:06pm The Wolverines scored over 1…

The Wolverines scored over 1.4 points per possession in an outstanding first half, and was on cruise control for the rest of the game.

Subject-verb agreement...

01/12/2019 - 11:22pm I've seen him - his listed…

I've seen him - his listed height/weight are legit (or really close).

01/07/2019 - 4:31pm  Picking and choosing the…

Picking and choosing the moments to play well, as Michigan has been doing this season, is not what great teams do.

This is ridiculous.  We're 15-0 and 13 of those wins are by double digits.

01/07/2019 - 4:27pm When we have a strong team,…

When we have a strong team, we don't lose to them too much.  Most of Izzo's wins against Beilein came when we were down.  We went 6-3 against them from 2011-14 and 3-1 the last two years.

01/07/2019 - 4:19pm Who's this Belien guy?

Who's this Belien guy?

01/07/2019 - 3:53pm I'm surprised he doesn't…

I'm surprised he doesn't just call it a career at this point.

01/07/2019 - 3:52pm At first I thought you were…

At first I thought you were talking to yourself.

(What are the odds of two posters with 3-letter usernames starting with J replying to each other?)

01/07/2019 - 3:26pm Dude, the blockquote you…

Dude, the blockquote you inserted into your post shows you how to spell his name.

I mean come on . . . it's John Beilein's twelfth year at Michigan.

01/05/2019 - 2:17pm They're not a great team but…

They're not a great team but these last 5 minutes have been ugly for them offensively, downright Amakeresque.

01/05/2019 - 2:08pm OSU seems to be wilting down…

OSU is falling apart.  Does anyone on their team want to take a shot?  What's Holtmann doing?  Call a timeout man.

01/05/2019 - 1:57pm If we needed another reason…

If we needed another reason to root against Sparty, those ridiculous black and neon jerseys are one.  This is a school whose song literally says "the only colors, green and white."

01/05/2019 - 1:54pm Izzo seems to be bad at…

Izzo seems to be bad at teaching players how to take care of the ball in general.  I bet he doesn't drill them on pivoting and throwing proper chest passes like Beilein does.

01/05/2019 - 1:30pm To me the OSU rivalry is…

To me the OSU rivalry is basically just in football.  In basketball I'll root for them against Sparty by default (unless an MSU win helps us out).

01/05/2019 - 12:00pm I like the new images.  The…

I like the new images.  The broom, knife, letter - well done.  (I never understood why Karl Malone was the "Mailman."  Shouldn't that have been Stockton?)

01/05/2019 - 11:55am Yeah, I'll feel pretty good…

Yeah, I'll feel pretty good about our chances in any game if we hold our opposition to 0.76 PPP.

01/05/2019 - 11:48am I hate that type of coaching…

I hate that type of coaching.  But honestly, this seems marginal, more worthy of a reprimand than suspension.

01/05/2019 - 11:34am That may have been true in…

That may have been true in the past but if so, USC has really stepped up its academic standards now.  They regularly make the top 25 of the U.S. News rankings.

01/04/2019 - 4:36pm Friendlier than Casper, even.

Friendlier than Casper, even.

01/04/2019 - 3:11pm They also had some brutally…

They also had some brutally bad passes that we picked off easily.  That reminded me of the Amaker days.

01/04/2019 - 3:08pm It's the other way around -…

(EDIT - I was reading it backwards.  Carry on.)

01/04/2019 - 2:44pm This guy is racking up the…

This guy is racking up the downvotes.  For a "new" poster he's coming on pretty strong with the reflexive contrarianism.

01/04/2019 - 2:38pm Grinch is going to be the…

Grinch is going to be the sole DC at a playoff-level program.  That's a promotion for him.

01/02/2019 - 9:11pm Jay should be fired for…

Jay should be fired for production,

No he shouldn't.

01/02/2019 - 9:02pm If he's been assigned to…

If he's been assigned to regions that produce a lot of talented players, that says something about his recruiting skill.  He's not being asked to scout out North Dakota.

And even if it's entirely chance that all of the guys mentioned in the previous post picked Michigan, Jay evidently isn't hurting us any in this area.

In four years here, Jay's coached tight ends, special teams and now tailbacks.  All have done fine.  If his last name were anything other than Harbaugh, we'd probably look at him the same way we do Chris Partridge.

01/02/2019 - 11:28am Who ever heard of a worker…

Who ever heard of a worker wanting to earn as much as possible?  Crazy talk.

01/02/2019 - 11:01am So?

Does the NCAA give you…

So?

Does the NCAA give you a cookie if a kid you recruited starts the season?

01/02/2019 - 9:38am Speak for yourself.  I can't…

Speak for yourself.  I can't wait to stay up until 1:00 a.m. on a weeknight to watch Bama-Clemson!

I get that they're trying to copy basketball with the Monday night thing - but did they stop to consider that basketball games are over in two hours, and football games aren't?

01/02/2019 - 12:24am Part of the reason he had…

Part of the reason he had only 2 TDs was that he dropped a few in the endzone - Indiana, OSU, I think ND also.  Anyway, we had other good options (DPJ, Collins) to throw to as well.

I maintain that the WRs were underused far more than he was.

01/01/2019 - 11:49pm He had less than 50 career…

He had less than 50 career receptions.

Correct, he had 49.

Kind of nitpicking for a guy who was learning a new position and really only saw the field two years.

01/01/2019 - 11:47pm Urban Meyer stepping down…

Urban Meyer stepping down probably resolves most of that issue.

01/01/2019 - 11:41pm He was utilized so poorly.

He was utilized so poorly.

He had 514 receiving yards and would have had more if he'd held on to some other passes.  How many yards do you expect from the TE?

Now, how we used the receivers is another story.

01/01/2019 - 5:29pm I know you're trolling now,…

I know you're trolling now, but it's worth remembering Barrett was knocked out of the game in two of "his" wins and needed a big assist from the referees in another.

01/01/2019 - 5:23pm JT Barrett didn't light us…

JT Barrett didn't light us up.  Haskins did.  If Martell turns out to be more like Barrett, that's significant.  Don Brown seemed a lot more comfortable facing him than Haskins.  OSU scored 10 offensive points in regulation in 2016 and had 14 through 2.5 quarters in 2017 (when Barrett got hurt).

01/01/2019 - 5:20pm He recruits well enough to…

He recruits well, and he was coming off back to back 11-win seasons.  Of course, Joe Moorhead helped with the latter.

01/01/2019 - 5:16pm I would be careful about…

I would be careful about extrapolating from garbage-time stats.

01/01/2019 - 4:42pm Iowa?  They've won their…

Iowa?  They've won their last two (good for them) but prior to that they had lost five consecutive bowls, most of them blowouts.

01/01/2019 - 4:37pm So why did they fall behind…

So why did they fall behind by 20, if they wanted to be there so badly?

If this were Michigan, everyone would be bitching about how flat the team was to start the game and how it didn't get its butt in gear until the 4th quarter.

01/01/2019 - 4:32pm This is a classic MGoBoard…

This is a classic MGoBoard overreaction.  UCF led 14-3 (with one TD coming on a pick six) and has gotten rolled ever since.  LSU is up 16 points now.

01/01/2019 - 3:09pm Less interested than the…

Less interested than the Purdue team that lost 63-14?

We were ahead just before halftime.  We fell apart in the second half but I didn't notice anything odd about our effort in the first.

01/01/2019 - 11:49am The latest incarnation of…

The latest incarnation of Mineral King and/or WD, I'm guessing.

01/01/2019 - 11:48am So, it appears that RedRum…

What are the odds that RedRum and JPC are the same poster?  I'd say north of 50%.

01/01/2019 - 11:45am And then we could have fired…

And then we could have fired him for sexually harassing staffers instead of Arizona!

We were fortunate he flamed out on the football field as quickly as he did.

12/30/2018 - 4:24pm The paper that covers rock.

The key that starts the engine.

12/30/2018 - 4:23pm Yeah, the OP feels like a…

Yeah, the OP feels like a backhanded compliment ("only second time under JB").

12/30/2018 - 12:12pm but the last 3 years of…

but the last 3 years of Lloyd, the RR and Hoke eras brought us 73-53 (42-38 in B1G).

Adding the last three years of Lloyd puts lipstick on that pig.  Under just Rich and Brady, we were 46-42 (24-32 B1G) from 2008-14.

12/30/2018 - 12:09pm  If Harbaugh left tomorrow,…

If Harbaugh left tomorrow, this would a great landing spot for an elite up and coming coach.

You mean like a guy who made West Virginia a contender with a revolutionary new offense?

Odds are Harbaugh's the best coach we're going to get.  We've got to hope he can make the changes to get us to the next level.

12/30/2018 - 12:04pm It will weaken OSU.  Or do…

It will weaken OSU.  Or do you actually think Day is going to win 90% of his games?

Whether we take advantage remains to be seen.

12/30/2018 - 11:59am When's the last time someone…

When's the last time someone transferred and was actually good at his new school?
