META Is there a reason the hoops previews seem to be going up much earlier this year? I know for weekend games they always go up on Friday afternoon, I assume to get more readers while they're at work bored and counting down the final hours until they can go home. But now for this one, and other weekday games, when it goes up the day before I just skim the date/time and line, and then mentally say "I'll read that tomorrow before the game", but then I forget because it's been buried already...

01/31/2019 - 3:29pm I'm in favor of it, gives us…

I'm in favor of it, gives us more of a home court advantage. If you take your kids to a college football or basketball game, you should be smart enough to know what you're exposing your children to. "Daddy, why is that guy drinking a beer out of a funnel from the roof" is the responsibility of the parents to take or not take their children around frat houses, not the frat kids responsibility to change their behavior.

I am surprised BTN allowed it. It's can't be that difficult to filter out crowd noise or do one of their 20 million NBA/Duke advertisements during those times so viewers can't hear it.

Also, freedom of speech doesn't apply in this case. You agree to terms to be there on the back of your ticket. They could kick people out if they wanted to. I was told I had to turn my "Buck the Fuckeyes" shirt inside out when I went to a football game, but the usher also said nothing was stopping me from changing it back once I was in the stands... They don't care, but will do their jobs so they don't get in trouble.

01/29/2019 - 8:24am This seems like an MSU…

This seems like an MSU football sad stat... Look how good Mark Dantonio is against top 10 teams, also please ignore his record against Illinois, Nebraska, and Indiana the last couple years.

01/25/2019 - 10:53am Harder to forget, but really…

Harder to forget, but really easy for your phone to die while tailgating. Or while at the game and then they don't let you back to your seat...

Or it means that the person that has a whole group of tickets on their phone has to give their phone to someone that is going to get concessions. Or send a screenshot?

01/23/2019 - 2:12pm Do you think he has value at…

Do you think he has value at any level? Do you think he is our worst coach? Ignoring salary, because that should be irrelevant to all of us.

He's been demoted to QB coach, with a HC who is actually the QB coach (especially now that he isn't going to be calling plays). He's our least important assistant now IMO, and to have a guy with NFL coordinator experience in that position is pretty damn good. He's done a good job recruiting QBs in his time here, even if you don't think he can develop them.

01/23/2019 - 12:32pm So don't give him credit for…

So don't give him credit for developing a QB that wasn't his recruit but blame him for not being able to develop a QB that wasn't his recruit?

A senior Kam Chatman would be a really nice piece for this team right now... Would be a taller version of Livers that could come in for Teske when he gets in foul trouble.

01/23/2019 - 10:31am I think it was just the buzz…

I think it was just the buzz kill of the review. After celebrating and the arena going crazy, they had to stand around waiting for 5 minutes thinking "oh, maybe we didn't win". And then finally "okay, I guess we did."

Weren't we just last week saying Cade McNamara was the #1 QB recruit on Alabama's board? A guy Pep recruited...

I understand not liking his play calling, but a guy who is even in consideration for NFL HC jobs is overqualified to be a college QB coach. I don't sign their paychecks, so I don't really care if the school is overpaying him.

01/23/2019 - 9:26am Is Brazdeikis the guy this…

Is Brazdeikis the guy this team goes to at the end of a game? Or just the (relative) hottest hand this game and it normally could be Poole or Matthews?

Unfortunate we had to put that on tape if Brazdeikis is the guy, but glad to get out of there with a win...

01/02/2019 - 2:17pm @Iowa, Michigan, and @OSU…

@Iowa, Michigan, and @OSU are 3 likely losses.

Then @MSU, Pitt, and Purdue are very lose-able. I see 8-4 being very likely, and 6-6 possible if their offense really falls off a cliff losing McSorely.

01/02/2019 - 2:12pm Hate to see him go, but in…

Hate to see him go, but in the long term it may be good to have our starting corners in different classes.

Ambry is going to get a lot of work this year since nobody is going to want to throw at Hill. Hopefully will get him ready to be the star CB in 2020.

12/20/2018 - 8:13am ZC also probably plays as a…

ZC also probably plays as a true freshman, so if you get another RB you can redshirt, you can essentially get them into different classes.

12/19/2018 - 10:03am Yeah not sure how he would…

Yeah not sure how he would qualify for that... Shea had to go through a long process with good reason to get his granted.

I personally think it'd be a bad landing spot for him. Even if he does get immediate eligibility, he'll have to compete with Martell who has more experience in the system. If he has to sit a year, he'll have to beat out an returning starter... In that case he would be better off staying at Georgia, playing if Fromm gets hurt next year, and becoming the starter the year after.

If he's going for a playing time transfer, at least do it to a destination you know you'll be the starter... That's what Kelly Bryant was smart enough to do.

Plenty of MAC scholarship level players get PWO offers from Michigan...

Didn't think a kid could be on an academic scholarship though if he's an athlete without it counting against the scholarship cap. Unless maybe the Go Blue Guarantee applies to him? And since that applies to all students it's not a benefit...

12/18/2018 - 11:19am I wonder how, if at all,…

I wonder how, if at all, this will effect his draft stock. Teams could see it as a distraction, or potentially as a benefit. If he's successful, his agency could lead clients towards the team Rashan is on.

Beilein interviewed for the Piston's job and didn't end up wanting it. It may be he's exploring the idea, it may be he wants to get paid more to stay...

"Wow, the People Mover failed because it moves people from Detroit to.. also Detroit. Let's fix that. Let's create another source of public transportation that goes from Detroit to... Detroit!"

12/10/2018 - 3:09pm Similar story... My friend…

Similar story... My friend that went through the fire academy had a teacher that worked for Detroit FD. They would get reports of fires on the 5th floor, show up, obviously no fire but legally they have to check, smell an obvious aroma of gasoline on the 3rd floor as they're going up, and when they got to the top people lit the fire underneath them and they had to repel down. People are fucked up...

Turf causes more ACL problems, so it's not necessarily better for their health...

12/10/2018 - 1:28pm The next recession is going…

The next recession is going to hit Detroit hard... When money gets tight, the nightlife in Detroit is going to plummet, and the housing market will go with it.

Detroit still has the same infrastructural problem, no reasonable/easy public transportation to/from the city to the suburbs. Needed the Qline to go all the way to Royal Oak, and need something similar that goes up Gratiot (to St Clair Shores), Grand River (to Novi), and Michigan Ave (to Canton or even Ypsi).

But according to the previous post, Harbaugh is going to the Packers, and since Meyer isn't retiring until after the Rose Bowl, technically we don't know this yet...

12/04/2018 - 10:47am I don't see much effect on…

I don't see much effect on this year's class. Not many kids are going to decommit from a B10 champ going to the Rose Bowl... But I see a lot of variation based on what happens next year.

If Ryan Day leads them to the CFP, their recruiting probably stays at the level it is or even increases because now OSU is seen as having an elite YOUNG coach that could be there for the next 20 years.

If Day goes 8-4 next year, the whole appearance of OSU changes to recruits. It won't be seen as a one-year slip-up, but as a decline due to Urban leaving.

12/03/2018 - 3:25pm Anything but an OC/DC at CMU…

Anything but an OC/DC at CMU probably isn't a good move financially or career wise for him. If he does get offered that, he should definitely take it, and it would show how much people within the program really respect what he's done.

12/03/2018 - 2:55pm I would think McElwain would…

I would think McElwain would have a lot more connections and "his guys" from his years at Florida than a 1 year stint here.

The narrative will then be that it was because "he was on his way out and lost focus". Just like they were setting it up to be because of his health this year...

11/29/2018 - 11:07am I was specifically…

I was specifically commenting on being blown out by OSU shouldn't change his mind since Tennessee has been blown out much more often by much worse teams...

Also, being on a top 10 team that has yet to make it into the playoff is better than being on a team that dreams of being ranked in the top 25 in a couple years.

11/29/2018 - 10:32am Yeah, why go to a top 10…

Yeah, why go to a top 10 Michigan team when you could go to a 5-7 Tennessee team that just got blown out by Vanderbilt last weekend? And got blown out by WVU. And Alabama. And Florida. And Georgia. And Missouri.

11/28/2018 - 12:45pm Assuming favorites win this…

Assuming favorites win this weekend, Michigan will have taken away two CFP appearances from OSU, that they were cheering against Michigan when they happened.

1) Fumbled snap on the punt, if it doesn't happen, they go over MSU in 2015.

2) Michigan vs. ND. If Michigan wins that game, ND is probably #7 behind us at #6 right now, and OSU would control their own destiny assuming Alabama wins.

11/27/2018 - 11:52am At this point I see him as…

At this point I see him as being the same as Lee Corso... They are both too old that they can barely put together a coherent sentence, but people still enjoy them for the association with the past.

11/27/2018 - 11:31am I can't find the link/post…

I can't find the link/post anymore, but I followed the instructions someone posted a month of so after the new site came out on how to essentially make your own MGoBlog App. I don't get many invasive ads through that...

11/27/2018 - 10:15am Yeah, the most you can get…

Yeah, the most you can get the CFP predictor up to is 1%. Along with a ton of other unlikely things, I think OSU would have to lose, and have Haskins have a season ending injury and look like a completely different team without him.

11/24/2018 - 11:05am Oh is that today?

Oh is that today?

11/21/2018 - 12:45pm Why is the QB edge to OSU?…

Why is the QB edge to OSU? Patterson has a better QBR this year and is a better runner. Unless you are chalking that up to the OL advantage (this feels weird to type).

Also Coaching I would put in favor of UM. Meyer has never done anything that has impressed me strategically. Harbaugh has with his game plan last year, and even in 2016 when Speight couldn't throw more than 20 yards. Meyer is aggressive going for it on 4th down, but in the past with their OL and Barrett there is no way they were being stopped on 4th and 1 or 2...

11/20/2018 - 3:46pm Idk about that now. They…

Idk about that now. They brought him out last week and it led to a penalty... If I'm OSU, I would rather had Haskins that can fall forward a yard or to than Martell who is getting zero YAC...

11/20/2018 - 10:25am As long as they don't get…

As long as they don't get Morehead to come back, I would still be happy with Frames leaving. It would cause some chaos with their recruiting class this year. Also, with McSorely leaving this year, they are going to regress no matter what. If that can be associated with a new coach instead of being inevitable due to graduation, it could set them back a few years.

11/20/2018 - 10:22am Agreed. The offense if…

Agreed. The offense if definitely setup in a way to pick-on defensive tendencies or counter things we've shown earlier in the game (see Scissors on front page). Plus, like announcers love to say 20 times a game, they "give body blows that wears down the defense".

11/20/2018 - 10:04am Don Brown effect. He makes…

Don Brown effect. He makes adjustments for the defense better than any coach I've ever seen.

I really want Harbaugh to give him a 1st half timeout he can use whenever he wants. I would love if he could call a timeout and make quick adjustments on the first scripted OSU drive rather than wait until they've potentially already scored...

11/20/2018 - 9:25am I actually thought this was…

I actually thought this was pretty clever by the reporter...

Given that that was a big part of the conversation in the offseason, is there maybe more significant pressure going into this game than past Ohio State games you’ve coached in?

“I always look at pressure as life-giving to energy.”

Is there more life giving energy going on?

“Yeah, sure. Fired up about it. Can’t wait to watch our guys compete.”

11/19/2018 - 9:31am From my memory, it did seem…

From my memory, it did seem like we went more to the left side on short yardage plays this past week which could be bad for two reasons. It's a tendency that OSU could pick up on and it's a sign that there is a drop off without JBB.
