Bad thread is bad

06/22/2018 - 1:15pm Man, I must have had some…

Man, I must have had some maize-tinted glasses on last year.

I have memories of DPJ running with nobody else within 5 yards of him...while the QB was busy being tackled by 3 dudes.

Personally,  I give our WRs a pass (pun intended) on the entire year.  You can't catch a ball that isn't thrown anywhere near you, if it gets thrown at all.

06/22/2018 - 1:07pm You take this stuff way too…

You take this stuff way too personally dude.

Maybe recruiting isn't for you.

06/22/2018 - 12:59pm Why would they want to get…

Why would they want to get rid of him?? He's doing EXACTLY what they hired him to do, those fuckers.

06/21/2018 - 7:26pm Oh fuck dammit. Umm... can…

Oh fuck dammit. Umm... can we edit now???

06/21/2018 - 7:25pm No. We will be forever…

No. We will be forever forced to live with our errors, choked with the knowledge that we could - and should - have done better.

Eat ar Arby's

06/21/2018 - 12:56pm I bet there are a couple…

I bet there are a couple judges in Michigan who would love to order a review if they belive that confidentiality is being abused.

What do you want to bet ESPN already has their next exposé ready and waiting for the start of football season? As much as I like to shit on ESPN, Sparty really fucked them, and I hope every little dirty secret gets front page coverage.

06/20/2018 - 2:36pm This is a really good point…

This is a really good point. You should be able to listen to an idea without having to accept it. However - and I say this to every mentee at work - a good message can get lost in bad delivery.

And a sports talk show which relies on outraged fans to drive its narrative and the worst possible delivery.

06/20/2018 - 9:08am I don't think it's likely…

I don't think it's likely that Newsome ever plays again. He's getting a free education that's clearly working, but 3 years away from football is a long time WITHOUT a horrific injury to bounce back from.

06/20/2018 - 8:58am Boy, when you miss a point,…

Boy, when you miss a point, you REALLY miss it, don't you?

06/19/2018 - 12:02pm Ehh it's pretty clear that…

Ehh it's pretty clear that Engler took this job for two reasons:

1) the money aspect. We're seeing that he's enriching himself and his cronies at an alarming rate, and he got one hell of a benefit package. MSU is being treated like a bank account he wants to drain.

2) the political aspect. He has connections with some of the movers and shakers in Michigan's political sphere, including those who may be running for office.

In no way do I believe that he cares one iota about assault victims or even MSU's wellbeing. This guy has a history of disdain for women's rights, public education, and any pursuit beyond enriching himself.

There were 35 responses to your thread when I posted this. Want to guess how much scrolling I had to do to get through them???

THAT'S why I've been less active. Things which used to be simple are harder. Things which used to be quick take longer. Things which used to work...don't.

A functional and user friendly interface will pull me back in as quickly as this shit show pushed me out. I like Mgoblog, but if I was still an IT project manager this wouldn't have been considered a successful launch. Wonder how much UAT they did...

06/15/2018 - 11:53pm Drinking arakku.

I will do…

Drinking arakku.

I will do the same thing I do every Father's Day: eat lunch at the old man's grave, and crack a beer in his memory

06/15/2018 - 5:57pm Don't forget that MSU also…

Don't forget that MSU also has a clear lead in the Fulmer Cup standings.

We're also far far far behind in "number of court cases litigated."

06/15/2018 - 2:15pm How the hell is Kevin Grady…

How the hell is Kevin Grady so high on this list?!?

06/14/2018 - 8:01pm Can we have a constitutional…

Can we have a constitutional amendment to stop calling it a natty?

Reminds me of Natty Ice, the preferred douchebag beer, and then Matty Ice, the preferred nickname for Matt Ryan when announcers were busy slobbering his knob. Seriously: every completion was "an NFL throw" and every incompletion was "he put it where only his receiver could get it." Hell, even a throwaway was "amazing decision making."

Fuck that guy, I guess that's my point. Oh yes, and stop - for the love of almighty Flying Spaghetti Monstrosity - STOP calling it a Natty.

06/14/2018 - 7:55pm I do a variation called the …

I do a variation called the "keta" diet.

You take lots of ketamine and pass out. Can't eat if you're passed out

06/14/2018 - 7:48pm There's a bit of a…

There's a bit of a difference between...

a) being really shitty at FOIA requests , and...

b) being blatantly hired to try to avoid penalties from a horrific series of crimes, then using the institution which hired you as a bank account for cronyism.

MSU is awful, but their students don't deserve their leadership.

Bask away in your Michigan diploma. You earned it, and Michigan has the moral high ground by fucking miles in this area.

06/12/2018 - 7:25pm I immediately thought of…

I immediately thought of Spider Smith, the villain in Lost in Space

06/12/2018 - 6:46pm Was just thinking about him…

Was just thinking about him. He could put in a comedic performance for the ages, and when he got serious he could be amazing. Good Will Hunting gets all the love, but he IMO has the best guest star performance in the entire run of Law & Order SVU. His episode is incredibly powerful

You can blame Batman for that lol

06/12/2018 - 6:39pm I could be talked into…

I could be talked into including Gary Oldman

06/12/2018 - 6:37pm Pete Postelthwaite

Pete Postelthwaite

Daniel Day Lewis

Raul Julia

William H Macy

Not my favorites, but VERY talented all. FWIW, I would really strongly disagree with Leo and Tom Hanks and Denzel.

06/08/2018 - 9:14pm Any professional team which…

Any professional team which intentionally loses in order to secure a top draft pick should pay neither its executives nor coaches.

06/08/2018 - 9:09pm Justin Verlander's first…

Justin Verlander's first fiance was better looking, and I think less of him for what obviously was happening when Kate Upton came into the picture.

06/07/2018 - 3:41pm Quick! Somebody tell David…

Quick! Somebody tell David Bow---- oh. :(

Now I'm sad again

06/07/2018 - 3:40pm Answer #1: Chuck Norris…

Answer #1: Chuck Norris roundhouse'd all alien life, and now we're alone.

Answer #2: if you're an alien species and you develop space travel that lets you cross interstellar gulfs...all else being equal: which direction do you travel? a) toward the center of the galaxy,  b) straight toward a relatively lonely small third-rate star in the unfashionable end of the western arm of the Milky Way

06/07/2018 - 11:38am It's almost like they have…

It's almost like they have parents who had extensive experience in college athletics and know what factors will make their sons happy and/or successful

Is white = any athleticism is sneaky

Is black = dual threat

We don't know the dog was unmarried.

It's still only the 4th or 5th worst thing about Holt.

And it still definitely has nothing to do with the fact that my ex lives in Holt.

Oh yes, and it would be nice to be able to edit my comments.

06/06/2018 - 5:37pm My gripes so far, only…

My gripes so far, only viewing the blog on my phone:

1) everything is huge. I'm spending a ton of time scrolling, and even the shortest board threads seem endless.

1b) for instance, Magnus' post below fills 2/3 of my screen

2) tougher to tell whose response is to whose message

3) takes more clicks or more scrolling to navigate to the message board. I really valued reading the front page story and glancing at the message board topics to see if anything caught my interest. Now I have to decide to go there and spend time getting there.

Conclusion: things which were previously quick are now taking a lot more time and effort.

06/06/2018 - 1:43pm Mmm that's probably a no for…

Mmm that's probably a no for a BS. For a BA, my experiences suggest that taking Calc 1 is in fact the EASIEST method of satisfying the quant requirement at Michigan.

For instance, I only took Calc 1 (a decision O regret to this day). I also took statistics,  econometrics, statistics of economics,  accounting,  etc. Those classes fulfill the quant requirement, but they are hard. Very hard.

I also took an Astronomy class for natural sciences, but it would have counted towards quant as well (I's been over a decade). The math required in that class was also hard - to my memory, harder than calc.

Long story short, you'll hear a lot of whining from some LSA artsy types about needing math...but life needs math. A lot of it.

Just testing the new comment feature.

Yay more scrolling?

06/02/2018 - 3:22pm You're kidding. You have to

You're kidding. You have to be kidding.

Edit: nope. Not kidding. Sounds like something's off in his personal life. Aside from his clear commitment issues.

Professor Got A Raise?

05/31/2018 - 6:23pm Unpopular opinion time: I DO

Unpopular opinion time: I DO dislike Hoke, as a coach, Michigan fandom aside, for his stubborn unwillingness to learn or adapt, and unbelievable willingness to ignore his players' safety. And I'm not just talking about Morris: he told Devin Gardner that he didn't want to hear about a broken foot, he "boo boo"'d Denard's elbow, he routinely tried to get Funchess killed on the field, and, oh yeah, the Morris thing, to which he said something along the lines of, "he could have chosen to stay down if he didn't want to be the starting QB."

There was no happy ending with Hoke no matter what. I'll take Shea and Harbaugh, thank you very much.

05/31/2018 - 9:31am I was taking some time

I was taking some time yesterday. To do the things we never had.

05/31/2018 - 8:05am So YOU'RE responsible for the

So YOU'RE responsible for the rains yesterday

05/30/2018 - 2:59pm I've read your last two posts

I've read your last two posts a couple of times each, and I still don't get what point you're trying to make.

Edit: have now read the ones below too. Still don't get it.

Maybe you should...stop drinking and go to bed??

05/30/2018 - 9:48am The interesting part of my 5

The interesting part of my 5 minutes researching was the TD totals that went with the low yardage. It was normal to have like 300 yards receiving and 7 touchdowns. Passing was a red zone tactic only lol.

05/30/2018 - 1:22am The fact that nobody has

The fact that nobody has suggested that Mgoblog charge fees for an account, and a fee for each post, with a rebate for each upvote...proves pretty conclusively that Dave Brandon is not on the blog.

05/29/2018 - 10:53pm Martavious Odoms set some

Edit: 1973, Paul Seal was Michigan's leading receiver with 254 yards. Per Sports Reference.

Michigan went 10-0-1 that year.

Since 1950, the absolute low point in yardage from a leading receiver was 1971, when Glenn Doughty had a whopping 203 yards on the year. Michigan went 11-1.

Lest we all think that was just a Bo relic, in 1961 Bennie McRae had 210.

Lest we all think that was just a sign of the was, at least until Jack Clancy showed up and put up over 1000 yards in 1966.

05/29/2018 - 6:59pm His ankles may be weak, but

His ankles may be weak, but his flop game is strong. Also, he floor slaps - sometimes with his face - with the best of them.

Upvote but disagree. I would LOVE any highly ranked OL prospects.

Kim Deal

05/25/2018 - 10:38pm I'd also like to add that

I'd also like to add that Chesson was a blocking specialist at WR for 2 years before he became a demigod with Rudock.
