Glad we get to be mad about Harry Miller for 4 years after being mad about Alaric Jackson for the duration of his career.

Pump that well, Drevs. You’ll find water one day!

I feel about the same way.

Speculating on basketball scholarship numbers this far out is a silly exercise but it seems likely '20 is a big class.

This is a bad look for 247 and Rivals but it’s no secret that offers are the biggest thing they use to rank guys.

EC3. Sometimes a big dude you used to drink beers with ends up as a bigger dude in tights on TV. Life is weird!

Have a friend who went the NXT to other promotions back to WWE route over the last decade or so and he's told me they are much better at developing and marketing big athletes through NXT in recent years.

Still sounds like the guys who make it put in a ton of time on task so if he's inexperienced that will be tough, but the development side could work in Ricardo's favor.

Players give more than enough of their time to fans as it is.

Generally if you want to run into dudes do something positive like volunteer at Mott or attend charity functions guys get involved with like the dance contest thing.

Are you only looking at the last three years?

Iggy, Burke, Hardaway, Walton, Irvin, Stauskas, Robinson, Morgan and McGary all played significant minutes as freshmen. Aubrey Dawkins and Ricky Doyle, too!

This isn't DJ Carton looking at a year of sitting behind X.

Others note Michigan can point to Iggy but Beilein can perhaps more importantly point to Trey Burke's 36 minutes/game as a freshman. Walton played 26 minutes/game as a freshman as well.

I don't either. The only way that makes sense is if 1) they already kicked the tires and got a no, or 2) there's stuff about the transfer that gives the staff pause.

Roy Williams is what happened.

After 2009 Roy had two national titles and four straight ACC regular season titles. Duke did well in the ACC tournament and had a Final Four in there after Roy arrived but they looked to be running a firm second.

Coach K took his USA basketball connections and ran with them to change his approach.

They could have done that with keeping KP is the thing. Or by trading him for, say, a good player or a high pick.

Also a Knicks fan. You should be able to get more for KP than some cap clearance.

Dennis Smith Jr. sucks!

I get the sentiment but that's a wildly overstated idea. There's still plenty of age and experience among good teams in college basketball.

Nevada has something like 7 dudes 22 or older. Tennessee's 6 leading scorers are all juniors or seniors. Nova and UVA always have some olds. Even Kentucky starts a 23 year old.

This thread is about Clemson getting caught and the various sport drug testing programs all have a clear line in the sand. Programs can't tiptoe that line; you're either giving and/or encouraging a banned substance or you are not.

The ethics of the broader sports performance/substance world are obviously much murkier.

Also I would stab Morgan if I played him in pick up basketball. His old man game is astounding.

01/24/2019 - 7:11pm That seems like an easy…

That seems like an easy enough administrative thing to figure out.

Could be as simple as naming key coaches in the paperwork for each recruit. Could be an appeal system since the NCAA loves those.

01/24/2019 - 6:35pm The scheme you're going to…

The scheme you're going to play in is pretty important so I think head coach/coordinator/position coach changes should get you out of an NLI.

Right now the recruiting calendar locks guys in then immediately changes the coaching landscape significantly. Why not get rid of the incentive for a bait and switch?

Transfers rules are another beast, but I think they need to be revised to be simplified and clear instead of the weird "everyone could be eligible immediately or they could not be" system we have now. I'd prefer those rules focus on the academic progress of a student athlete (ex: if you're not on track to graduate in your eligibility you have to sit a year, minimum GPA/credits requirements).
