07/17/2018 - 6:37pm I actually have been on here…

I actually have been on here less frequently and I am a mod, but to be fair, the real indicator will be next month when we start getting camp news. If that goes as slowly as it is right now - and July is a slow sports month anyway save for baseball - that will be very interesting indeed.

07/17/2018 - 9:44am I only named a car that I…

I only named a car that I owned once, and it was mainly in jest because after so many years of owning it, I thought that it probably deserved a name.

I had a 1998 Prizm from 1997 to early 2011 (13 years, 4 months approximately) and I eventually began to call it One Sick Car, mainly because of its greenish hue.

07/16/2018 - 9:12pm It was freezing outside at…

It was freezing outside at the time, but I did a victory lap around the backyard, much to the dismay of the pets and the chagrin of my family.

07/16/2018 - 5:08pm I don't know how you fire…

I don't know how you fire David Beaty. He actually took the job at Kansas, after all, and that's a brave and selfless act unto itself.

07/16/2018 - 5:06pm Did anyone say quinoa yet?…

Did anyone say quinoa yet? That's on my list.

 - Spinach

 - Filet Mignon

 - Salmon

 - Onions

 - Mushrooms

07/16/2018 - 10:27am “What people misunderstood –…

“What people misunderstood – it’s not impossible, but it’s really hard,” Rosen said. “I get tagged [on social media] every three months with articles about some athlete graduating in a really hard major – I should be getting tagged every day. Schools should find a way to help every kid succeed in their chosen major."

He's not wrong here certainly. We should be hearing a lot more stories like this but we don't, and that's one of the things that makes this proposal very interesting to me.

07/15/2018 - 7:51pm White Castle isn't great,…

White Castle isn't great, but it has a utilitarian purpose. On the rare occasions that I've been hungover to the point of being more or less useless, sliders are rather good at alleviating that situation inside a matter of hours. Going there just for the hell of it? No, I won't do that.

07/15/2018 - 12:47pm Well, happy birthday!

Well, happy birthday!

I actually just celebrated the 20th anniversary of 21 just this past Monday.

07/15/2018 - 9:09am Oh, if only the mods had the…

Oh, if only the mods had the capability to actually fix things on the site....

I have some ideas, if that day ever comes.

07/14/2018 - 5:48pm (No subject)

07/14/2018 - 3:08pm I was supposed to stop by a…

I was supposed to stop by a reception after the 2004 MSU game. I managed to get there just as they were cleaning up, and already on the way to drunk. No need for the open bar.

That's what people get for scheduling special events during football season - you get late, not entirely sober me.

07/14/2018 - 12:18pm I mean, you would think MDOT…

I mean, you would think MDOT is ultimately responsible for the upkeep of their own right-of-way, but here in Wayne County, the county seems to do most of it, even employing people with a public service component to their court sentences to skewer trash along I-94. On the M-roads, I think many of those are in the state's ROW but maintained locally. The relationship when it comes to maintenance on area roads seems multi-layered, to say the least.

07/14/2018 - 9:34am Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth…

Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth is definitely a cool trip if you can make it.

I would include a trip to one of the Metroparks like Lake Erie or Hudson Mills as well, in addition to many of the places folks have already mentioned here.

07/13/2018 - 10:41pm Some good  selections, to be…

Some good  selections, to be sure.

I feel like Dr. Bob Hartley needs to be on this list, and perhaps Lou Grant.

07/13/2018 - 7:54pm I have actually made lunch…

I have actually made lunch for contractors before (I am a fairly decent chef), especially if they are doing good work, and I have given guys beer after a job is complete, but I cannot recall actually tipping.

07/13/2018 - 7:46pm Traverse City Rye Whiskey…

Traverse City Rye Whiskey. Quite smooth, and after the week I've had, much needed.

07/13/2018 - 11:48am Pretty sure that all the…

Pretty sure that all the points that all of us would have collected in the last couple weeks are forever lost in the pocket of the blog's "other pants", so crediting of points will be strictly on a "what are you willing to do for them" basis.

07/13/2018 - 8:26am The big question for…

The big question for Franklin moving forward is whether his attack will not skip a beat sans Moorhead, who’s now the head coach at Mississippi State.

I am kind of intrigued to see if this is the case too. Moorehead's offense was....something.

07/12/2018 - 5:05pm You know, I was in Berrien…

You know, I was in Berrien County over the weekend a couple weeks ago. I had no idea I was in an outpost of OSU fandom. If anything, I would have guessed Notre Dame - the Cracker Barrel in Stevensville was full of ND gear and the liquor store that I stopped at on the way to had ND flags hung inside it.

07/12/2018 - 3:58pm To be fair, the cat urine…

To be fair, the cat urine thing only came into being when we ran out of bleach for the waterboarding equipment one day, and the problem has since been corrected - by the health department in Bolivia, of course. Apparently, expired milk or GTFO.

07/12/2018 - 2:37pm I have to think hockey and…

I have to think hockey and basketball carried quite a bit of the weight here, which makes me wonder how much higher it could have been with a more impressive football season. We will never know, but even at that, being in the top five on such a list really is not bad at all.

07/11/2018 - 10:36pm One of the problems with the…

One of the problems with the current setup is that punitive point loss is not yet possible, at least in the screens I can access, and really, the only remedy for overtly political posts is the same remedy I've always attempted - delete subthreads, or if needed, the post itself.

As always, I encourage people to contact me via Twitter. I am still adjusting to now having to actually read all threads (since the upvote / downvote ratio is no longer a thing) rather than skim a statistically significant sample.

07/11/2018 - 7:10pm Hell, if you're Alabama, you…

Hell, if you're Alabama, you can be a Top 100 recruit and still get grayshirted in the last week of August. It is all simply part of the process.

07/11/2018 - 5:24pm You know, I heard that part…

You know, I heard that part and thought to myself, "You never want to call an injury timely at the risk of sounding brutally insensitive, BUT...."

07/11/2018 - 5:19pm Former Indiana University…

Former Indiana University quarterback Zander Diamont tweeted Monday that one of his coaches at Indiana once called Adolf Hitler a "great leader."

Others might disagree, but if you're going to go this route to motivate others, or indeed at all, you've heard all that you need to hear from that person and they do not need to speak ever again.

07/10/2018 - 10:34pm I remember their slogan - …

I remember their slogan - "Just Do It....But Not In The Cup Because It's Not Airtight And That's Just Gross Anyway"

07/10/2018 - 2:18pm After his performance in…

After his performance in Vegas, I was hoping he would get a contract and it turns out that he did, as he should have quite frankly.

Good luck to him.

07/10/2018 - 2:12pm Harbaugh drives Dodge Demon…

Harbaugh drives Dodge Demon on Big House turf

This was covered yesterday, although these days, you can blink and a thread is gone from the first page of listings.

07/10/2018 - 1:08pm Strangely enough, I would…

Strangely enough, I would think Dan Leach could be an interesting replacement as well, but as a couple people have alluded to, he does have a shtick that he might need to tone down to make the broadcast work. It would sound very un-Leach-like then, but he does have a decent voice for it, I agree.

07/10/2018 - 10:58am ....or indeed behind the…

....or indeed behind the false wall in Al Capone's vault. Geraldo simply was not sufficiently observant, you see.

07/09/2018 - 3:37pm I've always thought that we…

I've always thought that we did our best to show Michigan State that maybe Bobby Williams was it and was worth keeping, and really, even in 2002, we showed MSU fans that despite fantastic and overwhelming performances from B.J. Askew and John Navarre, the Spartans simply refused to be completely shut out. You would think it would mean more to them.

07/09/2018 - 1:22pm I downloaded the PDF from…

I downloaded the PDF from the link but sadly I am the jackass who has only just started reading it about a week later as last week was kind of crazy despite the holiday.

That said, I took today off, and I am going through the position previews - so far, so good.

07/08/2018 - 7:10pm The spreadsheet is loading…

The spreadsheet is loading quite slow at the moment, and I am sure all of us are sitting here thinking, "Well, if the rest of you would get off this, I could check on the status of my order..."

07/08/2018 - 11:59am No, I don't think you can do…

No, I don't think you can do this.

Sure, beating OSU helps elevate teams throughout Michigan's history and individual performances in those games help elevate players in Michigan's history, but I don't think you can make success against a rival the sole measure of "great" and not have it sound a bit narrow.

07/07/2018 - 10:28pm To be fair, Indiana did have…

To be fair, Indiana did have a chance, but I think Bo McMillin left in 1947.

07/07/2018 - 4:52pm I still have the shirt,…

I still have the shirt, although I am no longer late 20s me, so it has difficulty fitting, needless to say.

07/06/2018 - 5:00pm Here is the story from the…

Here is the story from the Baltimore Sun - LINK

As for their content:

One of the subpoenas requested all emails and communication regarding “any improper payments or benefits” to a former Maryland student-athlete, whose name the university redacted, citing privacy laws. The only Terps coach named in the subpoena is assistant coach Bino Ranson. Among the documents requested were his contract and any school files regarding allegations of possible or potential misconduct by the Baltimore native.

07/06/2018 - 11:35am Part of me wants to believe…

Part of me wants to believe that behind Pearson is John Navarre trying to call a QB sneak....on 3rd and 5 and for no real football reason.

In all seriousness though, this is about the time of the year where I begin to get impatient, and sadly the Tigers are not helping out with filling any voids this summer. They might BE the void this summer, in fact.

07/06/2018 - 10:02am Well, as far as I know, we…

Well, as far as I know, we kept his account active. It's the one thing that makes the place like Motel 6 - "we'll keep an account open for ya".

OT: No poo method

I think this one has gone about as far as it is going to go....

07/05/2018 - 12:40pm If Michigan can’t move the…

If Michigan can’t move the ball or if Shea Patterson takes too many sacks and the Wolverines lose, the mood in Ann Arbor will zoom to DEFCON 1.

You would think a couple people were already there actually, and this game is still about two months distant.

He's quite right - one game will not a season make, but a lot of people will make some unwarranted extrapolations all the same. That's every year though.

07/04/2018 - 10:59pm Long story made short, I was…

Long story made short, I was made a mod in March 2013 and it basically sprang from several nominations I received in the thread in which BiSB more or less quit being a mod. I was actually flabbergasted that people thought I was a good choice - I drink and cuss and have the damnedest time moderating myself.

07/04/2018 - 10:55pm Between having a son with…

Between having a son with sensory problems and multiple pets, the fireworks on the block are pretty much a living hell from about 10 PM onwards. We actually don't buy any because it is bad enough that we rarely get adequate sleep on thps particular holiday that there is no need to make the situation worse.

07/04/2018 - 8:08pm Old news is bad, but to be…

Old news is bad, but to be fair, we're lucky that it hasn't come down to things like this:

07/04/2018 - 2:04pm I started lurking in the…

I started lurking in the summer of 2008, and I even created an account which I maybe used ten times in the three years of Rodriguez. In January of 2011, I created this account and began contributing to a community of people just as nuts about - and consequently driven insane by - Michigan sports as myself.

07/04/2018 - 11:40am It will be the same old…

It will be the same old story - the SEC does one of its fantastic fades, but yet the diehards will insist that because it is the SEC, it somehow doesn't matter and they are still worlds above you.

07/04/2018 - 9:09am Everyone have a safe and…

Everyone have a safe and happy Fourth.

This year, at least it happens AFTER trash day, so my neighbor cannot set my recycling on fire like last year.

I think the Human Beinz put it best:

"NO NO NO NO NO NONONONO...."

Not really in a set order:

1) Monty Python's Flying Circus

2) All In The Family

3) Cheers

4) Star Trek: The Next Generation

5) Mystery Science Theater 3000

6) The Bob Newhart Show

7) M*A*S*H

8) The Two Ronnies (BBC Comedy / Variety)

9) The Office

10) South Park

What about the part where Alabama says, "Also, grayshirts are your friend. Never be afraid to make spot changes to a kid's future in the last week of August."?
