02/16/2019 - 12:19pm I hear the 12 team…

I hear the 12 team conferences were full argument, but the fact that no one seems interested in taking ASU puts a damper on it now.

I don't understand why 12 has to be the max though. I suppose for scheduling purposes, but why not do what B1G basketball does where you play some teams twice and some teams once depending on the year. With no research into this whatsoever, it seems like that could create a plausible way to have 14 team WCHAs and CCHAs

I'd love to see Illinois, but college hockey just hasn't felt the same since the Big Ten formed a league. I miss the CCHA schools and the big school-small school dynamic that played out nationally. I wish Minnesota and Wisconsin (and maybe Illinois?) would just go back to the WCHA/NCHC and the old CCHA+Penn State would get back together

02/16/2019 - 9:05am I know the Big Ten gets the…

I know the Big Ten gets the brunt of it for starting the chain reaction, but the old WCHA schools were the ones that totally gutted the rest of the CCHA. Obviously, losing Michigan and MSU (and sort of OSU) was a big blow to the CCHA but as soon as it happened the remaining 'haves' in the WCHA kicked out the bottom feeders and raided the rest of the CCHA. All of the big programs in the Big Ten and NCHC screwed the smaller schools

I was tentatively pro Big Ten when it came out. I was excited for Penn State, hoped it would mean more TV exposure, and hoped we'd be able to maintain regular series with the Michigan schools. Unfortunately neither of those have really happened. I would be 100% in favor of just going back to the CCHA and WCHA, but it'll never happen

I feel bad for that dude. A certain subset of CFB fandom will never forget that and I'm sure it's the most embarrassing / humiliating moment of his life. I'm thankful none of the stupid things I did as a teenager had the same visibility

So surprised to see that I’m getting this game on SNY in New York. I think this is the first televised game I’ve had here this season (without BTN)

I have relatives in Newfane believe it or not. Always bizarre to me when I'm there that Beilein really is from there. Pretty cool that one of the greatest D1 coaches ever is from that tiny little town

02/12/2019 - 12:03pm UT football has recruited…

UT football has recruited suspiciously well lately as compared to their performance on the field. IIRC there was a noticeable uptick in their recruiting performance recently

It is fairly well known that top players often get benefits on the side and some places provide a lot more benefits than others

Woof...there might've been 5 guys in that whole class who even contributed

Gardner, Jake Ryan, Hagerup, and Dileo. I guess Hopkins had a cup of coffee as a starter too

02/12/2019 - 10:17am Wasn't he one of Richrod's…

Wasn't he one of Richrod's first huge recruits? I thought he was supposed to be some fringe-5* WR when he first committed, then the rankings came out and he was a 4*ish guy, then he transferred to Pioneer and became a 3*ish guy and never did much. I definitely remember him being hyped to the moon early on.

We know better than many other P5 programs what can happen when your QB recruiting falters for even a season. Even with a healthy influx of transfer QBs, we've seen the bumps in the road. FSU is going to be in a big hole in a few years

02/07/2019 - 12:17pm I generally have no ill-will…

I generally have no ill-will toward Wisconsin. They're a fairly similar school to Michigan

but man, their basketball program is an abomination to the sport. A circus of flopping and hacking

Man. That's cheap. Way below market value for what these guys bring. I would've guess much more.

02/07/2019 - 12:00pm Washington is different, no?…

Washington is different, no? He's a Columbus native whose father played for OSU.

Mattison however has left this program twice for a rival. He deserves the heat

It is amusing from an outsiders perspective how these things go sometimes (Justin Fields is a great example right now). When you commit, you see there are several scholarship QBs above you. Most of these guys say they aren't afraid of competition and aren't afraid of waiting their turn but then sometimes they come out of freshman year 3rd or 4th on the depth chart and it's *shocked Pikachu face* that they didn't beat everyone else out. I'm sure that even with all the positive quotes, most of these guys went through high school being the hot shot / greatest thing since sliced bread and secretly assumed they'd beat everyone on campus day 1

Maybe once Brady retires, the Patriots will finally start to suck again

I have a good friend who went to NC State so I always like to see their football/basketball do well because of him

NC State always seems to find ways to tempt that they are a good team, but find spectacular ways to show that they are definitely not. Seems like they live in an agonizing existence of never being truly bad, but never being truly good either. That goes for both sports

02/04/2019 - 6:02am I like seeing Brady win, but…

I like seeing Brady win, but really cannot stand the Patriots or Boston sports in general. I was pulling for the Rams

02/02/2019 - 10:37pm I can barely follow the team…

I can barely follow the team anymore since moving out of state. Do we have even a prayer of an at large bid or do we need the auto bid or bust? I cant imagine we have a prayer, but if the Big Ten is seen as good I’ve certainly seen WCHA teams sneaking in at like 16-15-1

I was really hoping the Big Ten adding hockey would be more televised games. Seems like the games are never on any kind of semi-national broadcast anymore. The CCHA days were better...

Penn State's still got that cultish / circle the wagons feeling up in them mountains.

01/29/2019 - 3:41pm The only time he's had a top…

The only time he's had a top 10 offense and defense to KP, he made the Elite 8.

Yes, and they were a 1 seed that year, so making the Elite 8 isn't an incredible achievement. UVA's had a bunch of 'title contender' teams in recent years without a Final Four to show for it. I'm going to expect them to underperform until they don't for once

01/29/2019 - 11:47am I still can't take UVA…

I still can't take UVA seriously as a real national title threat.  They beat everyone up in the regular season, and then always underperform vs. their seed in the tournament

01/29/2019 - 11:44am The hockey team typically…

The hockey team typically has maybe 1 or 2 guys a year who could qualify for one and done, maybe 1 or 2 more who could do 2-and-done

Glad to see Aubrey's doing well down there. No hard feelings from Ann Arbor!

01/28/2019 - 12:09pm Women's hockey is definitely…

Women's hockey is definitely neck and neck with women's basketball in that regard. I enjoy some women's sports, but hockey and basketball are unwatchable to me. The skill level of both looks equivalent to boys JV level on TV

01/28/2019 - 12:07pm I think women's volleyball…

I think women's volleyball is better because the reduction in power means for better defense, better rallies. I've watched men's college volleyball and the guys can hit the ball so hard that it makes it hard to get any kind of rally going. The high levels of D1 women's volleyball are really fun to watch and definitely my favorite women's sport to watch along with softball

01/25/2019 - 3:35pm I agree. I've lived in…

I agree. I've lived in Michigan, up and down the east coast, and a few spots in the midwest. Michigan drives tend to be fast and smart - it's refreshing to see people generally move out of the left lane when a faster car comes up behind them. Not every state does that.

East Coast drives are either fast and dumb or slow and dumb. I'll see a guy sitting in the left lane on his phone going the speed limit on I-95 while simultaneously some guy is doing 20 over, weaving in and out of cars in the slower lanes.

I don't know why Pep leaving has to be contingent on him finding another job.

"Yeah, Bill's really been underperforming here for years. We keep asking him to find another job, but he just hasn't yet"

"Why not just fire him?"

".........?"

01/17/2019 - 10:22am I feel bad for Faehn because…

I feel bad for Faehn because - from everything I've read and gathered - she seemed to be worthy of this chance and this could have been introduced in such a way that she could join the staff just fine.

The error here seems to be entirely on Warde. He needed to be out in front of us this one, introduce it to the Michigan public and say why they wanted to do this, why it was ok, why they believe in Rhonda Faehn's character, etc. Instead they didn't announce it and tried to hide it which is bizarre. Totally bungled by the Michigan AD. They need to take a look into their PR department / protocol and figure out how the heck they screwed that up so bad

Come on man

I had never heard of Engler before MSU (not a Michigan native). I dislike him because he's a scumbag who was brazenly trying to sweep this investigation under the rug while also publicly slandering the victims. You say you aren't making this about politics but you are obviously insinuating that its the 'dems' who threw him out for political reasons.

01/17/2019 - 6:09am I don't know why mishandling…

I don't know why mishandling a sexual assault investigation and then publicly slandering the victims is being made into a political divide. I'd hope both parties would stand against that, but if we're saying Engler was only forced out because of political differences then what does that say about the party that was protecting him at MSU

I hang out at reddit cfb to escape the echo chamber / get the vantage point of other fanbases. I have no desire to hang out at 11W or RCMB though

01/16/2019 - 5:50am Fields case is that there…

Fields case is that there was some type of racial incident with another athlete who I believe was expelled for it. That's a crappy situation, but it seems like a one-off. Shea and everyone else at Ole Miss was misled about the severity of the sanctions Ole Miss was about to receive. Not the same situation and I'd wager if Fields had beat out Fromm that suddenly he wouldn't be so concerned about some hostile atmosphere at UGA

Are you following umbig11 at this point? I feel like I've seen you going at him out of nowhere more than a few times now

umbig11 knows people who know things, sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong. Such is the nature of rumors and uncertain situations

01/14/2019 - 6:07am Yeah I think that's the…

Yeah I think that's the takeaway. It's not necessarily whether Faehn was or was not worthy of being hired, it was how badly the university handled the hiring. After screaming about MSU being tone deaf, it's really amazing Michigan thought sneaking her onto the staff was going to work and wasn't going to draw a huge backlash. Really poor leadership, PR, whatever you want to call it from the AD.

01/14/2019 - 6:01am I think it's quite possible…

I think it's quite possible she did do her job appropriately, is a good person, etc., but the point is that Michigan royally screwed up trying to hire her. By trying to sneak her in and hoping to not have anyone notice, Warde was just begging for a fall out like this. If they had been extremely transparent on this one, there's a shot this could've worked. As it is, they totally botched it, got rightfully called out, and had no choice but to back track it while looking very stupid
