02/16/2019 - 11:52am I don't know how one could…

I don't know how one could say that JH is "clearly the best head coach for Michigan".  I think that is a leap.  We don't know what another coach could do.

Is Harbaugh a good coach...Yes.  Has he done something extraordinary at Michigan...No.  Does he win 10 games...Yes.  Is there immense value in those 10 win seasons...debatable.

So far, a very fair and objective evaluation of Harbaugh is that he beats the teams that he should.  When matched up against a team of equal or better talent we most often lose.  His coaching has been quite questionable for the last 2 bowl games with his teams looking quite unprepared and not knowing how to finish games.  Furthermore, he seems to be queerly drawn to the "Bo Days" and wanting to win in a way that would in some way pay homage to Bo / make Bo proud.

I don't think Harbaugh's record or coaching would indicate he is "clearly" the best coach for Michigan.  He is a good coach here.  Represents the university well.  Has won 10 games multiple times.  Hasn't beaten his rival.  Was responsible for the most historic loss in Michigan History vs. OSU.  Struggles to have that landmark / turning point win.

02/16/2019 - 11:44am I'm not shout "unacceptable"…

I'm not shout "unacceptable".  I am saying that Harbaugh has not been an elite Coach at Michigan. He has been a good coach.

He has produced a couple 10 win seasons.  The "value" of those 10 win seasons can be debated.  He seems to be able to beat teams he should beat and loses to teams of equal talent or better talent.  He seems obstinately stuck in playing a style of football that doesn't seem to win anymore.  He has some really odd / delusional tie to the past with Bo even going to far as saying things like "I don't remember Bo having an offensive coordinator" and somehow questioning the OC position of today.

02/15/2019 - 11:54am So what is the value of…

So what is the value of having an "Elite Coach" if his results aren't elite!?  That's like being married to a woman with a high sex drive that doesn't have sex with you.

If you are something, eventually your results / actions will indicate that you are indeed what you are.  Just because Harbaugh was an elite coach at this other stays doesn't mean that he is or will be one at Michigan.  It is a very high indicator of potential and probability, but it doesn't guarantee his being so.

02/15/2019 - 9:53am I agree with you that scheme…

I agree with you that scheme can allow lesser teams to beat greater teams.  Harbaugh has not utilized the talent he has to create a scheme that can do exactly that.  That is why I don't subscribe to the people that proclaim "You're not a coach!  You don't know what you're looking at!  You are simplifying very complex things!  It ain't that easy!".

You have an embarrassment of riches at the WR position.  Why aren't you scheming an offensive system where you have them on the field the majority of plays!?  If you don't choose that then you are willingly choosing to play people on offense that aren't as good as your other players.  Good coaching is finding the best players on your team and then finding a way to successfully utilize them.  Bad coaching is having a system you are Hell bent on running and plugging the best available (not the best player mind you) player to fit into the positions of that system.

02/15/2019 - 9:39am You are correct if you are…

You are correct if you are speaking of their current situation.  I am speaking of the last 15 years.  We have been putting out QB's to play such as Brandon Peters, Wilton Speight, and John O'korn.  OSU hasn't put a QB out on the field (except for mop up duty) with talent that low in a decade and a half.

02/15/2019 - 9:32am I don't think our Coaching…

I don't think our Coaching has been just fine.  Watching us play in the Bowl Game vs SC, Bowl Game vs FL, and this year vs OSU our Coaching looked very questionable.  Looked like the kids were not prepared, haven't been coached to finish games, and the play calling lacks creativity and not because we couldn't be creative, but because the coaching is hell bent on playing a certain way that is looking increasingly archaic.

I am not saying Harbaugh is a bad coach, but I don' think he has been an elite Coach at Michigan.  I think he was elite at SD.  Was as close to elite as one can come to at Stanford.  Was elite at the 49's.  But just cannot get his team over the hump and seems stuck in an obstinate manner to playing in a way that just doesn't win in college football anymore.  Lets hope Gattis truly has the reigns this year.

02/15/2019 - 7:09am Its very difficult (humbling…

Its very difficult (humbling and maddening too) to compare our recruiting to OSU.  OSU seems always to be in the mix for the elite recruits that are in the top 150-250.  They get talent and reload instead of rebuilding.  We simply aren't at their level yet...I hopefully use the word "yet".

For example, just look at who their QB's have been over the last 15 years and who they have had waiting in the wings behind them.  They wouldn't dream of putting a player like JOK out on the field as QB because their talent and reserve of talent is significantly better than ours.  Not to mention the talent they have had at RB, WR, DB, DL, etc.

There is a reason that OSU has beaten us for 15 years and it doesn't center on us not playing hard, not having a good enough game plan, or not executing.  It is almost impossible to beat a team that has better talent than you and a better Coach than you.  Those are the two unfortunate facts of our existence for the last 15 years.  Lets hope Day is not Tressell / Urban 2.0.

02/14/2019 - 7:09pm That's good stuff right…

That's good stuff right there MGoFunkadelic!  I have a Golden Retriever named Woodson that I am straight gonna lose my shizzit when he dies.  You have my sympathy and empathy.  Glad you have a bundle of puppy joy to brighten your world!

02/14/2019 - 4:20pm Yes.  Great reminder.  If…

Yes.  Great reminder.  If one can't remember what a true game changer running the ball looks like, go look at Denard's highlights!

02/13/2019 - 5:59pm I totally get it, but if you…

I totally get it, but if you are one of the top DC's and your scheme is predicated upon man coverage and getting pressure to the quarterback before the offensive skill players can get open you better have some effective contingency plans.  Eventually one of two outcomes are gonna happen.

1.  Your D Line cannot get pressure thus the man coverage will eventually break down.

2.  You will play a team where their skill position players are greater athletes than what your DB's can handle.

I would say that both of these happened in Columbus this year.  Brown needs to do a better job of knowing what to do when this happens, because it's going to when you play a team of equal or better talent.

02/12/2019 - 6:32pm I get the autograph thing …

I get the autograph thing (people collect just about everything), but not standing in line to get an autograph and paying for said autograph.

I would imagine you could go to Ebay and get an autograph on a certified playing card for much cheaper.  But if you want a 100% authentic autograph on the exact item you want...I cant imagine a better way to get one.

02/12/2019 - 4:38pm Stay weird man.  I think its…

Stay weird man.  I think its cool you can stand on your own two feet in the midst of others potentially not digging what floats your boat.  Life becomes pretty awesome when you can simply accept who you are and enjoy your hobbies whether or not people understand them / approve of them.  Keep being you.  I think its awesome.

I love Tolkien and Bourbon.  To each their own.

LOL!  Thanks for the heads up on the alcohol!!!

02/11/2019 - 7:07pm If Wilson would not be…

If Wilson would not be averaging 6 ypc if he was the starter.  No way...no how.

I am willing to concede the point that the coaching staff doesn't help the production of the RB's with their predictable "Run, Run, Pass".  I don't care about people saying that a play is all about "execution".  It has to be incredibly difficult to execute a play that your opponent knows is coming.

02/11/2019 - 7:03pm You are 100% correct.  QB…

You are 100% correct.  QB room has more talent in than it has had in easily a decade or more.

02/11/2019 - 6:10pm I say try em all!  LOL.  We…

I say try em all!  LOL.  We need to find a diamond in the rough.

02/11/2019 - 6:03pm Then I'll clarify my remarks…

Then I'll clarify my remarks...Wilson and Turner don't look to be anything other than average B10 running backs.  Nothing special.  Certainly not scaring anyone.  No Defensive Coordinator is scheming for them.  If you put the starting RB for most of the MAC teams on our squad, I don't think they would produce significantly less than Wilson or Turner.

Wilson is a walk on.  Turner was at best 4th String last year.  Hasskins was at best 5th string last year.  Saying that a walk on, 4th string and 5th string would produce better than a starting MAC running back is questionable in my opinion.

Just re-read your last two paragraphs.  You are speaking of hoping talent will rise up to the challenge and that a walk on, a 4th string RB, a 5th string RB and PWO's will fill in the gap!?  If Michigan has to rely on PWO's then God help us all.

02/11/2019 - 5:45pm Considering that Turner was…

Considering that Turner was sitting at best 4th String last year, that is one bold claim.  I hope you're right though, but little to suggest as much.

02/11/2019 - 5:00pm I haven't seen them but I…

I haven't seen them but I will google in just a second.

I have been lifting for 25 years and have been scared to death to try anything.  Take aware the health detriments, it seems to start an addictive cycle where you just can't / don't know when to stop.

There may be guys at my local gym that use and I have zero clue, but the guys that clearly use look cartoonish.  They clearly have a body they were never meant to have.

02/11/2019 - 4:36pm Totally agree, but then you…

Totally agree,  I just don't know why you would want to have a physique where everyone knows you are juicing.  Looks like he is taking enough testosterone for an entire football team.

02/11/2019 - 4:25pm I still want to do the…

I still want to do the analysis on "busts" during those 3-6 years.  It certainly seemed that every light and ray of hope turned into a turd that would make the smell of hot garbage appealing.

02/11/2019 - 4:24pm Is that a Clemson football…

Is that a Clemson football player or the Ultimate Warrior.  Neither took PED's right?

02/11/2019 - 4:20pm I remember thinking Ricardo…

I remember thinking Ricardo Miller and Dee Hart (before heading to Alabama) were going to bring offensive fireworks to AA.   Sigh...wasn't meant to be.

02/11/2019 - 4:19pm Hoping he is all "HIT" with…

Hoping he is all "HIT" with Zach.  Dude, our RB situation will look like a MAC level talent if he doesn't make an instant impact.  Probably the weakest talent of any position next year...at least most certainly on offense.

02/08/2019 - 10:55am That made me chuckle!  LOL

That made me chuckle!  LOL

02/08/2019 - 10:55am UMbig11...there isn't a 1000…

UMbig11...there isn't a 1000 yd back on our roster, unless Zach turns into one.  We have 3 average B10 backs that's it.  Good thing is this might actually be another moving force to twist Harbaugh's arm into throwing the freaking ball to the most talented people on offense.

02/08/2019 - 9:57am RB position is thin and…

RB position is thin and incredibly poor talent wise.  Unless Zach comes in and shines, our RB's wont put fear in any DC.

02/06/2019 - 12:34pm I hope you're right, but…

I hope you're right, but have you seen Milton's high school tape?  It is not very impressive...at least not in comparison to his hype / ranking.  Many of his throws are just heaving it up to his WR who ended up signing D1 too.

I hope Milton succeeds at Michigan.  It would be amazing to have a capable QB with a body like JM.  I just think that Milton was such a freak athletically and arm strength wise that they believed he would grow into a QB at Michigan.  I hope he does.

02/06/2019 - 12:29pm I root for JM.  Everything I…

I root for JM.  Everything I've heard is he has outstanding character and works hard.  I just don't see how a kid who couldn't complete 50% of his passes in high school (while throwing to a D1 WR on his team) was ever gonna see the field at Michigan.  Amazing specimen of an athlete, but I don't see him ever getting on the field as a starter at Michigan.

02/05/2019 - 4:02pm If this doesn't signal the…

If this doesn't signal the end of "man ball"..."body blows"..."Run, Run, Pass"...then I give up.

Please Jimmy, let Gattis do what he does.  Exit 1986 and enter 2019.

02/05/2019 - 12:52pm It really goes to show that…

It really goes to show that recruiting rankings are such a "art" at times and not a science.  How a kid ranked as high as he was can't utterly dominate at a Stony Brook is amazing.

02/04/2019 - 4:21pm And I'm assuming Prep…

And I'm assuming Prep Schools ain't cheap!

A crappy situation.  There is always blame to place on both sides.  Michigan should have communicated much better...that was just unacceptable...But if you are #785 in the state of Kansas and have played exactly one year of football and Michigan offers you and it seems too good to be true....it just might be.

01/28/2019 - 4:43pm If this is true, Clemson…

If this is true, Clemson will get destroyed in the public media.  People would love to knock Dabo off of his perceived pedestal.

01/27/2019 - 6:17pm mGrowOld...that made me…

mGrowOld...that made me chuckle out loud.

I just cannot get into women's basketball.   I find it to be the absolutely worst translation of a sport to a women's sport.  Women's volleyball is amazing.  Women's soccer is tremendous.  Softball is super entertaining.  Women's golf can be even fun.  But Women's basketball, even at the highest level, just looks...poor.

01/27/2019 - 6:07pm Boxing is dying off because…

Boxing is dying off because it isn't violent enough.  UFC is now king because of the violence it brings.  Punches, kicks, elbows, chokes, etc.

01/17/2019 - 3:15pm I am choosing to believe…

I am choosing to believe deep inside Jim Harbaugh is a sane man that can look over the last 4 years and see how his program has progressed / not progressed and then look at how College Football's Offensive strategy has changed.  I think he has finally made the changes necessary to "move forward".  "Man ball" and "body blows" are going to become much less.  At least this is my delusion to believe.

01/17/2019 - 9:21am That is a poor comparison. …

That is a poor comparison.  Saban and Bill Belichick have coordinators leave all the time...and they leave because Saban and Belichick have had record breaking success.  No one believes for one second that their coordinators leave because Saban and Belichick are difficult to work for (even though that may be true). Their Coordinators have left because success breeds opportunity.

Furthermore, as long as Saban is there, they will always have a Top 5 recruiting class regardless of who the coordinators are or who are the "recruiters".

01/16/2019 - 3:07pm Yeah, I didn't realize how…

Yeah, I didn't realize how much of a project ZH is viewed as.  That certainly takes the sting away from losing him at the 11th hour.

01/16/2019 - 12:44pm If you want OSU info go to…

If you want OSU info go to 11W like you have in the past.

01/15/2019 - 8:46pm Yeah, it would be nice to…

Yeah, it would be nice to have a "special" running back again.  One that defenses actually have to game plan for.

Deveon was nothing but a "possession" running back.  He wasn't going to put the fear in a defense that he could take it to the house.

As far as him being "good" because he had a couple 750 yd seasons.  I wouldn't say that makes him "good".  Makes him nothing more than an "average" B10 running back at best.

01/15/2019 - 4:54pm If you are over 40 and…

If you are over 40 and overweight No...it is a great time.  If you are a top ranked RB recruit then yes, it is rather slow in comparison to other elite talent.  I would guess it is rather tough to decipher the legitimacy of that time.

01/15/2019 - 3:59pm Magnus, so with one QB…

Magnus, so with one QB committed (#752 on 247sports), and this offer going out, is Michigan just not even in the contention for a top 10 QB?  Or do they just trust their evaluation more than rankings?

I know it is super super early, but kinda depressing seeing the rankings of the QB's we are offering.

01/14/2019 - 7:45pm They were good...and yet we…

They were good...and yet we are still 1-15 against OSU and 1-9 against teams in the top 10.  All that NJ talent is really making an impact.

You can keep the NJ talent, give me CA, FL, GA, LA, AL and the Carolina's.

01/14/2019 - 3:13pm "Owning NJ in recruiting"? …

"Owning NJ in recruiting"?  I don't know if that is something you want to hang your hat on.

Go "own" Texas, CA, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, etc.  Now that is an accomplishment that will change the # of W's or L's in a season.  I don't know think "owning NJ" is gonna change the talent level of our team.

01/13/2019 - 8:12pm Is our offense about to go…

Is our offense about to go from "body blows" to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!?

01/11/2019 - 7:37pm Win.  Just win.  Recruits…

Win.  Just win.  Recruits will come.

01/11/2019 - 11:49am I am just amazed he stayed…

I am just amazed he stayed as long as he did.

01/10/2019 - 3:28pm Doesn't matter who we hire…

Doesn't matter who we hire until JH hands the reigns to his OC and tells him to do what he does.  Till then, it will be "body blows" and 18 passes a game.

01/10/2019 - 3:25pm No...It did.  I just had to…

No...It did.  I just had to take a dump and it happened.

01/10/2019 - 3:23pm Its happening!!!

Its happening!!!
