Winning cures all. A couple freak things go differently (or go exactly the same and get called properly), and this isn't even a conversation.
But they didn't.
Even if it weren't a matter of being that close, I see the program addressing all of the problems in a meaningful way.
Winning is the only true remedy, so we'll keep having this conversation until the remedy comes.
The place where I think we need to put our foot down is that we have absolutely every reason to expect that the remedy is coming, and perhaps in a very big way.
I expect to see it this year, and I'm unwilling to deny myself the joy of that optimism just because of the things that went wrong the last couple years.
I look forward to when we no longer have this conversation.

OSU die-hards don't generally gush about how great Harbaugh is. If we had a recruit from Ann Arbor who all of a sudden was gushing about Urban, what might you be thinking?

By waiting a year, they just sign Kahwhi as a FA. Keep everybody. Good contracts, young guys with another year to develop. They could win by year 2 of the contract. They will win in year 3.

MSU/OSU/SEC negative recruiting UMich:
Have you seen their academic rankings? Across the board, way too high in just about every program. If you go there, class is going to be WORK.
What you want is the easiest path possible to the NFL. The only place you'll have to work hard is in the weight room and on the field.

Top SEC #90; eight B1G schools in top 46. Kind of odd that Purdue doesn't even make the list--maybe not great for more than engineering? It's apparently pretty not great to be a Hoosier or a Hawkeye either. And apparently asking for Nebraska's rank is the logistical equivalent of calling for a moment of silence.

|05/10/2018 - 10:20pm||This applies to playing styles as well||
Many are setting this as if Jordan's style would be the same now as in the 90s. I have no doubt that if playing now, Jordan would both be the greatest at whatever devastates current defenses, and would be developing better defense against whatever great offenses arose. There is a level of competitiveness and genius involved with MJ that just isn't available to LBJ. LBJ can do stuff... He just doesn't have all the requisite components to belong in the GOAT conversation... I wish y'all could have heard Charles Barkley talking about this last night...
|05/10/2018 - 10:09pm||He would be demonstrably superior to LJ||
There are no rules or system to which he would not adapt. And he would be so far inside LeBron's head, LBJ would choke on his own medulla oblongata in every situation of any importance. Ask Charles Barkley. I guarantee that he understands the ins and outs of this better than any of us posting.
|05/10/2018 - 9:59pm||Specious argument... How'd he get that good? By playing with MJ||
every day for years... There were twenty or thirty other players who would have developed into hall of famers in the same position. Far from having that kind of day to day effect on people, LeBron actually makes the all stars around him less great.

Warriner is definitely an upgrade.
This also implies that recruits (and grad-transfer recruits) may have been apprised in advance.
With McElwain also in tow, the offensive coaching staff looks much MUCH better than a month ago

With the smoke about him going to Vandy the last couple of days, it seems like it was planned and just waiting on a couple other dominos to fall.
It makes all the hand-wringing during the last couple months look pretty silly.
|02/19/2018 - 9:16pm||Mc+W>Fisch
From a coaching
From a coaching standpoint, I think we just had nothing that could compensate for the loss of Jedd Fisch.
McElwain, with the benefit of an extra week's dedicated research/analysis from Warinner, close that gap or better
Besides that, I don't think coach's loyalty is unlimited. Drev and Pep each have their replacement already on staff. If we can motivate them to save us the money of buying them out by performing better, great. If not, replacing them will come with less upheaval.
I think coach Harbaugh has done a great job. Enos is a prick, but he may have inadvertantly delivered us a superior hire in McElwain.
