Either way rooting for Duke.  Duke we might be able to beat (I wouldn't pick it but they're an unknown).  I don't want to deal with Sparty again.  And while yes, beating Sparty for a trip to the finals would feel incredibly sweet, losing to them to put them in the finals would create a football BPONE-esque misery.

Plus, beating the golden child Zion to head to the finals would be real satisfying.

Happy zero productivity at work for two days week everyone!

03/20/2019 - 12:59pm 280-285?  Is he made out of…

280-285?  Is he made out of Owenu infinitely dense material?  That number is shocking based on the picture; he looks built and muscular, without much bad weight, but not that big.  Built more like a small forward than an offensive lineman.  That said, good frame to bulk up , and sounds like a high upside prospect.  Welcome aboard!

Ironically, I've never had a problem with my pinecone in 11 years.

03/18/2019 - 1:40pm I'm real ok with all of that…

I'm real ok with all of that.

03/14/2019 - 1:25pm I wish I would have explored…

I wish I would have explored a lot of different fields in school, instead of zoning in on business immediately.  Wish I'd explored psych and CS at all, as they're both fields I think I would have excelled in.  Also wish I'd worked on my golf game more growing up to see if I could have been something, but I think I'm happier with it as a hobby than as a career regardless.  In general, wish I'd explored a few more areas academically, since I'm not overly happy as a lawyer now despite feeling like I've been heading down that path since almost day 1 of college.

03/12/2019 - 1:02pm I'm in again.  Now the…

I'm in again.  Now the eternal question: how deep to take Michigan to effectively counterpick this group...

03/07/2019 - 3:43pm Anaheim is actually a good…

Anaheim is actually a good draw.  Tons of alumni out here in Southern California, no relevant good local teams.  There was a huge M presence in LA last time they were here, and we would likely have the home court advantage again.

Also, selfishly, I could drive up to an Anaheim game and I want that.

03/07/2019 - 3:12pm Well, I think one key…

Well, I think one key approach would be to score more points than MSU.  To quote John Madden, "the team that scores more points, usually wins the game!"

In a more serious response, number 1 is when we get good looks we have to make them (with 1b getting those open looks, which were few and far between in game 1).  That has been a recurring problem.  We're also going to need Simpson to be the lockdown bulldog he usually is; Winston had a great game 1, and we can't allow that again).  Lastly, I think the D (especially Poole) needs to do a better job of sticking with their guys and denying easy looks.  If they make tough shots so be it, but no open 3s or easy uncontested drives.

03/06/2019 - 1:19pm In addition to the OP…

In addition to the OP-mentioned Rutgers/Maryland debacle:

(A) His scheduling of football puts Michigan at a severe disadvantage every other year, and is shitty for ticket holders

(B) His handling of scandals has been poor, and made the conference look bad

(C) His handling of the horrible performance by referees has been embarrassing

(D) The constant pursuit of TV money to the detriment of the product (BB tournament in MSG, a bunch of other scheduling stuff)

(E) The fact that all this TV money and revenue increase has disproportionately gone to him and other execs, and much less to the schools and especially the players

(F) He has supported rules changes and policies that hurt Michigan and stopped Harbaugh from doing Harbaugh things

(G) He often appears to have an anti-Michigan bias, but that admittedly could just be our own confirmation bias showing

(H) Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.  Generally he just seems like an empty suit who has no "only I could have done this" accomplishments, it's all stuff that any reasonably functional executive type could have achieved, yet he's made countless millions for doing stuff.  In sports terms, he's a replacement level player who's being compensated like an all star.

Title does not say it all, especially for those who don't follow crootin closely.  Position? Year?

02/12/2019 - 12:22pm This is my mindset too.  Tru…

This is my mindset too.  Tru is an excellent blocker, and a quality backup. He's a player I like and has more than earned his scholarship.  But he doesn't have the speed, power, or elusiveness of a feature back (he does have excellent vision, which helps a lot), and I think that if we're expecting or relying on him for Higdon levels of production/carries, this will definitely be a down offensive year.  Both Charbonnet (based on tape and profile) and Turner (based on the few carries he got against Florida) seem to be more impactful as running threats.

02/11/2019 - 6:15pm Hope he's right about…

Hope he's right about Charbonnet as Instant Impact.  If Evans is actually gone, we're going to need him or Turner to step up (I like Tru as much as anyone, but I don't think he has the profile to be a feature back).

02/11/2019 - 2:33pm Also found that odd.  He's…

Also found that odd.  He's from the Sacramento area I think, so it doesn't even match on a "staying near family" aspect.

02/11/2019 - 2:04pm I saw that, and was thinking…

I saw that, and was thinking Happ had 4 fouls as a result for like five minutes.  I have no idea how they called that on not-Happ beyond "hey keep the star in the game" bias, and I still have no idea who got saddled with his well deserved foul.

Didn't notice initially (because I wasn't watching feet) but you're 100% right.  Bush league as hell.

"Northeast 10's Southwest division" is such a beautiful oxymoron of a name.

Don't think it had been officially confirmed yet, but everyone knew it was coming based on late season stuff.

02/01/2019 - 5:28pm I don't know who Nate Lewis…

I don't know who Nate Lewis is, does this guy have any history of credibility?  Anything's possible, but Evans would be about the last guy I'd expect to be getting in off field trouble.

Looking forward to tonight's game.  Let's keep it rolling boys!

Be honest, how much of this was trying to work out a way to benefit the Pistons as part of the blockbuster, and how much of this was trying to McGuyver a way to get Wagner back home?

01/29/2019 - 12:38pm I assume they, like I,…

I assume they, like I, always forget that Simpson isn't a senior.  It feels like he's been running the point so effectively so long, I just kinda assume he's due to graduate.

We can't edit OPs, that was the point of the comment.

Uh...that link is from January 11th.   As of the one from today (https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/bracketology-michigan-state-and-kansas-hold-on-to-no-2-seeds-but-things-are-getting-interesting-on-the-bubble/), we're the #1 seed in the east regional, and apparently the #2 overall seed.

Same range as Gedeon, Bush, and Gold.  Yeah, I'll take another one of them.

01/04/2019 - 2:54pm He was decent last night and…

He was decent last night and converted on a few opportunities (the Poole assist most notably), but over his career I wouldn't call Davis "sure handed".  Dude has fumbled a lot of great entry passes.  I still think he's a perfectly adequate backup but I don't see a ton of upside.  But hey, bigs develop slowly so we'll see what happens.

01/02/2019 - 8:06pm Doing: off to the gym after…

Doing: off to the gym after work lets out in a few hours.  Not a resolution, just normal routine.

Drinking: at the moment, iced tea.  When I get home, probably just water since I'm trying to dial it back a little post-holiday, but we'll see how long that lasts.

01/02/2019 - 3:31pm No doubt the best to ever…

No doubt the best to ever hold the microphone back stage.  Iconic voice and a truly defining part of my wrestling fandom growing up.  RIP Mean Gene.

01/02/2019 - 2:02pm Not sure I agree with that…

Not sure I agree with that. Our views are a little colored by a poor game against OSU, but you can look at tape and on-field performance and see that he's produced.  Maybe his TD and yardage numbers are lower than a lot of "elite" prospects, but I think we all know that's because we throw the ball 20 times in a game, not because of lack of skill.  My instinct (admittedly, without getting online and breaking down stats) is that Gentry's YPC and catch:TD ratio is in the same neighborhood as any other elite TE.

01/02/2019 - 1:51pm One really smart guy …

One really smart guy (Einstein I think?) did it, and then other smart guy and/or guys who aspire to  be like Einstein started doing the same thing because it became known to be a thing.

That said, I do know friends/family who spend a huge amount of time agonizing over clothes in the morning, so maybe if you know you're that kind of person, it will make sense as a way of reducing stress and decision fatigue.

12/28/2018 - 12:12pm I know this game isn't the…

I know this game isn't the bowl game we wanted to be in, but I'd sure like to keep drinking Florida's milkshake, and to close the season out with 11 wins.  Go blue!

12/26/2018 - 12:30pm There's still definitely a…

There's still definitely a market and an industry, but it's shrank noticeably since when I was growing up (born in 84), and the money side of the market has shifted very heavily to the autograph and jersey swatch cards, away from base set stuff.  There's still a strong market for rookie cards and limited print run stuff, but not as a strong as say 10 or 15 years ago, and the demand for base set cards of stars and veterans is pretty light.  It also seems like it's shifted away from a kid focused hobby and towards an "adults who've collected for years" hobby, but maybe I'm just skewed by my local market/shops.

Re: books, beckett still prints monthly (or maybe they cut back to quarterly), though your best source for pricing is likely looking at sold listings on ebay, since they stay current with market fluctuations.

For me, I got a pair of Michigan socks and a M branded duffel bag bag.  Also got my mom a Michigan shirt.  My dad got the real winner (from my Grandma), a Pretzel Bell shirt from Long Lost Tees.

That's a great shirt, never seen that before.

That's the impression that I get.

I choose to assume Solomon didn't actually transfer, but rather Michigan traded him for a player to be named later, who will in fact be Quavaris Crouch.

I will happily eat a lemon if he commits.  Not because I'm that certain he won't (i think it's probably like 70% he goes elsewhere), but I feel like this is a new board superstition since Dax and I want in on the groundish floor of it.

It really is an awesome class, and the staff did an excellent job at targeting and securing not just great players, but great players at positions of need.  Real excited for the future.

This makes me happy.  Real good add, at a position where depth/future seasons was looking a little concerning.

12/19/2018 - 11:28am Seems likely Hill and…

Seems likely Hill and Charbonnet will definitely contribute early.  Hill beating out Hawkins most likely to start, Charbonnet being in the committee but he's talented enough that I could see him becoming a bellcow pretty quickly.  Hinton and Mazi Smith also seem likely to contribute early, at least in a rotation if not as true starters, since we're losing a lot on the DL.  I imagine a few others will break through and see some snaps here and there (although those are hard to predict, who had Ronnie Bell as seeing a bunch of run coming into the year?), but my hope is that we don't need too many freshmen to be immediate contributors.

12/18/2018 - 6:00pm Please do explain how you…

Please do explain how you think we'll be beating Ohio State in the future if toxic, shitty "fans" like you constantly attack players and recruits?  Or do you not think having assholes online who talk shit about you would maybe turn off a 17-18 year old from going to that school?

12/18/2018 - 3:01pm (A) because Senior Bowl…

(A) because Senior Bowl practices (and all the various all star game practices) are second only to the Combine in terms of scouting eyes and NFL attention and (B) generally speaking, all the players know the Senior Bowl and other all star games are exhibitions and play and treat them accordingly, including rotating in and out dramatically more.  Higdon, or anyone, isn't getting 30 carries, he's getting 6.
