Did he say he wasn’t a Big Ten caliber player? Otherwise it’s not a great example.

01/09/2019 - 10:48am I guess I don't "know" that…

I guess I don't "know" that Harbaugh wasn't blindsided. I heard a rumor about it last week and I think it's safe to assume that Harbaugh, who is slightly more connected to the program than I am, knew about it before I did.

01/09/2019 - 10:38am Seriously? That's not at all…

Seriously? That's not at all what I said. I never once mentioned that he would be upgrading. I said he wasn't blind-sided. Hell, there was a post on here last week about Al Washington potentially leaving and Bucknuts insiders were mentioning Mattison to OSU last Thursday. If it's posted on here, I promise you Harbaugh already knows about it and already has a plan for it. Harbaugh has coached with a lot of different people and he has a lot of connections in football. I guarantee he already has a short list of people that he's interested in interviewing for a spot on his staff.

01/08/2019 - 10:17pm We could start a new trend…

We could start a new trend of hiring parents of other schools players. Ed Warriner’s son plays for State, correct?

01/08/2019 - 10:12pm I have no doubt that DB is…

I have no doubt that DB is staying, but if he wasn’t, I’m not sure a random Michigan fan at the airport would be the first person he told.

01/08/2019 - 9:09pm If your position coaches…

If your position coaches aren’t moving up, then you’re probably doing something wrong. The best way to get young, talented coaches is to get the ones you have promoted.

01/08/2019 - 7:54pm Temple has moved on from DB…

Temple has moved on from DB. They wouldn’t be interviewing other people if they felt like he was their man. It’s not an indictment on Brown. They just seem to want a young on the rise coach. I don’t think Dudek would tweet good news is coming based on DB staying. I think this is something else. It could be recruiting related, but Harbaugh wasn’t blind sided by Mattison or Washington and I guarantee he already has someone else lined up. Someone tweeted that Day was playing Chess and Harbaugh was playing checkers. Bullshit. Harbaugh brought the chess board to the Big Ten and he knew his next move before either of those guys even interviewed with OSU.

01/08/2019 - 5:57pm Having a marquee non…

Having a marquee non conference game was important when we only played 8 conference games and 4 out of conference. Now that we play 9 conference games, we don't need to Notre Dame or any other top 25 caliber team.  Hell Alabama only plays 8 conference games and they don't play anyone tough out of conference.

01/08/2019 - 4:30pm Wasn’t he fired from an…

Wasn’t he fired from an Arena League team? Being a good player doesn’t always equate to being a good coach.

01/08/2019 - 4:27pm Foote would be a great hire…

Foote would be a great hire if UM can convince him to spend the off-season and the majority of his spare time kissing the butts of 16 - 18 year old high schoolers.

The time and dedication recruiting takes is the primary reason you don’t get a lot of successful NFL players returning to college to coach.

01/08/2019 - 1:05pm What you said “Maizen you’re…

What you said “Maizen you’re an asshole, stop posting negative shit all the time”.

What Maizen read, “you’re intellectually superior, please keep posting every thought”.

01/08/2019 - 12:18pm During the OSU game was…

During the OSU game was anyone complaining that Mattison and Washington were the problem? If they hired Don Brown as sole coordinator, I would agree with you, but they hired Mattison as a co-Coordinator and Washington as a LB coach. Both are known as good recruiters too. This isn’t the end of the world but you’re kidding yourself if you don’t see this as a loss right now.

Also it’s been reported that both Mattison and Washington were offered raises to stay.

01/07/2019 - 4:12pm Bucknuts is reporting that…

Bucknuts is reporting that Washington has been offered LB coach at OSU and DL coach at Michigan. We should have a decision within the next day or two.

01/05/2019 - 8:56pm I’m not going to lie, I like…

I’m not going to lie, I like your style. Last year around this time I posted that I think Michigan should be going after Chris Olave. He was late rising 3 Star WR. Only a 3 star because he had to sit out his junior season for transferring high schools. Michigan never pushed for him and OSU came in late and got him.

All he did in The Game as a true freshman was catch 2 td’s and block a punt. I’m screaming I told you so at Harbaugh through the tv and of course he acted like he couldn’t hear me. I wanted to make an I told you so post, but I decided I would just mention it every time I get a chance.

01/05/2019 - 3:10pm What is so bad about having…

What is so bad about having a goal to make it to the NFL in 3 years? Obviously he`s going to Georgia to play football. That's why the school is willing to give him a free education for the next three to four years. I guarantee if he quits playing football, that scholarship will go away.

01/04/2019 - 11:49am The reason he will be…

The reason he will be granted immediate eligibility is because it was said by another student who was subsequently kicked off the baseball but not kicked out of school. Fields can easily claim that the school did not do enough and he didn't feel safe and/or it impacted his well being. Everyone knows it's about playing time, but the NCAA can't come out and say he's lying and he should have to stay at a school where he could have to attend classes with the same racist student or friends of the student.

01/04/2019 - 11:24am Unless of course you are…

Unless of course you are referring to Georgia. I think they made a huge mistake going with Fromm over Fields.

01/03/2019 - 9:07am Washington hasn’t been here…

Washington hasn’t been here long enough for us to gauge if this would be a big loss or not. I heard he’s a good recruiter but that’s pretty much based on a recruiting battle that we lost. Out of the Ohio recruits I believe only Rumler had a commitable offer from OSU and he was going to Michigan regardless of his coach or recruiter.

If true, it may be a big loss but I don’t think we know yet.

01/02/2019 - 10:12pm I would be surprised if he…

I would be surprised if he leaves. He`s moving back to guard next year where he`s better suited to play and has a chance to significantly improve his stock.

01/02/2019 - 8:54pm You failed to mention that…

You failed to mention that Saban won a National Championship at both LSU and Alabama in his first four years. Success at MSU should never be a measuring stick for Michigan’s program and Swinney didn’t have half the resources at Clemson that Michigan has. They just recently started putting huge dollars into the program. Harbaugh has been good, but a gift from God? That’s going a little bit too far.

01/02/2019 - 6:39pm Good Luck to him. He’s…

Good Luck to him. He’s definitely earned it and I think it’s important for elite recruits to see UM players reaching their goals.

He was the last player we were waiting on, right? I think everyone else has decided.

01/02/2019 - 12:48pm Before skipping the bowl…

Before skipping the bowl game, I would treat it as a spring type game. Play young players and see what they have.

Win or lose, bowls are rewarding for the players.

01/01/2019 - 11:31pm You don't have to be an…

You don't have to be an elite student to earn an athletic scholarship to Michigan. You just have to meet the bare minimum requirements. People on here act like every recruit is in the National Honor Society and we aren't allowed to recruit players that picked Ohio State. I imagine many of the OSU players had committable offers to Michigan. We are right there with OSU in recruiting and even have a better class than they do this year.

Look at all the money spent on the football team, all the money that goes into facilities, salaries, etc., it sure looks like a win at all cost program. If not, why in the hell are they paying Harbaugh all that money? It's about winning.

01/01/2019 - 10:03pm That's what I was thinking…

That's what I was thinking. Maybe even 10. I can't imagine we would drop that much because of the teams behind us. It may not really matter, but It would be nice to claim a top 10 finish. Not a bad season if you step back and look at what we thought the season would be twelve months ago.

01/01/2019 - 4:13pm I’m not sure it would…

I’m not sure it would necessarily be a good thing if Michigan players were that pumped to be playing in the Outback Bowl against Miss. St.

12/30/2018 - 8:34pm I agree that missing on the…

I agree that missing on the OL coach was a big problem, especially for Harbaugh’s offense, but I think Speight started a second season before getting hurt. I think bringing in Ruddock his first year hurt the 2016 team. Speight would’ve started all of his red shirt freshman season and then in 2016 things may have went differently at Iowa and in Columbus. Instead of being a tested second year starter, he struggled on the road in tougher games.

I’m not giving up on Harbaugh, but I do have some doubts now. I believe staff changes need to be made. If Harbaugh did leave, I think Matt Campbell would be a solid hire.

12/30/2018 - 4:46pm You can't blame the coach…

You can't blame the coach for fumbling the snap, but you can absolutely blame him for everything that happened afterwards. The coach should have made sure he knew to take a knee or just fall on the ball if anything whatsoever goes wrong with the snap.

12/29/2018 - 10:56pm Maybe the captains need to…

Maybe the captains need to be guys who don’t play so we don’t run the risk of them sitting out a bowl game. Seriously though, if Michigan made the playoffs, all of our players would’ve played. This game was meaningless and it doesn’t make you a bad teammate for not risking your financial future for an exhibition. I don’t know Rashan Gary’s situation, but if he blows his knee out like Jaylon Smith and loses millions of dollars, do you think it’s okay...at least he’s a team player, right? That’s crazy. Every player who sat out this game, has given a ton to this program and they have earned their scholarships and then some for this university.

12/29/2018 - 9:24pm Good point and let’s not…

Good point and let’s not forget that half of those Rose Bowls were played on the opponents home field. I imagine the results would’ve been very different if half of those Rose Bowls were played in The Big House. Home field for USC and UCLA was a big advantage.

12/29/2018 - 9:21pm We need Shea to run more. He…

We need Shea to run more. He’s an excellent dual threat QB but we just don’t use him correctly, imo.

12/29/2018 - 7:39pm I would trade OSU’s under…

I would trade OSU’s under-performance for Michigan’s success all day, everyday.

12/29/2018 - 7:20pm I imagine Michigan is paying…

I imagine Michigan is paying it. Do you honestly believe that Aubrey Solomon turned down $250k from Georgia so he could play for nothing at Michigan? Same with Dax Hill. Is he turning down six figures from Alabama for the honor to play for Michigan?

Michigan would be fortunate to have a top 25 recruiting class if everyone except Michigan is handing out huge paydays for commits. I love the University but my family wasn’t rich and there’s no way I would have went to Michigan for nothing if I’m being offended $250k from a better program. I know this is a fan board but you’re lying to yourself if you think Michigan is recruiting this well if they are one of the few clean programs.

I think the problem is we are only throwing out money to a dozen or so recruits (maybe less) while OSU, Alabama, Georgia, etc are paying nearly every recruit. I would believe those claims.

12/29/2018 - 3:31pm I may be lying to myself but…

I may be lying to myself but I don’t think it was on the defense today. Small mistakes and errors got out of control. This team is still developing a winning mentality. Just waiting on a breakthrough.

12/29/2018 - 12:32am I didn’t hear that, but I…

I didn’t hear that, but I did read the story about Zach Harrison’s best friends creating the livestream for his announcement. The night before the announcement he told them he was going to OSU and they were shocked because they watched The Game with him and he was wearing UM gear for it and wore more UM gear the next weekend also. I think it’s safe to say if Urban doesn’t retire, he’s picking the good guys. That’s a trade off I would make every time and I for some reason feel better about losing out on a top 5 recruit.

12/18/2018 - 10:31pm A third of Alabama`s class…

A third of Alabama`s class may be defensive backs. I believe I read they already have 5. I don't think it's ridiculous to assume that if they accept Battle, that means they are not confident with Hill. Bama is recruiting Battle as a safety so if they knew they had Hill they would have let up on Battle.

I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow found a way to take both, but I think it's just as likely that Hill flips back. Watching CB`s tomorrow should be fun.

12/18/2018 - 12:18pm I saw a brief story on 11W…

I saw a brief story on 11W or 247 that said Haskins and Fields have the same QB coach/guru in the off-season but I don’t remember his name. He tweeted that he would want his son to play for Ryan Day. So yeah, he’s probably going to OSU.

12/17/2018 - 8:18pm He is an early enrollee. OSU…

He is an early enrollee. OSU insider, Bill Kurelic posted this information last week. He also said it’s between PSU and OSU, leaning PSU. Apparently he wants to leave the area and it would have been Michigan but something changed right before Thanksgiving. Who knows if this guy knows what he’s talking about either. Let’s hope not.

12/17/2018 - 7:35pm I don’t think there’s…

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the program. He seemed to be unsure about his commitment from the beginning and he probably wants to be closer to home. It’s not uncommon. The bright side is we know Harbaugh must be a helluva recruiter. He managed to get a highly sought after 5 Star recruit to commit to a school that he didn’t want to play for...that’s a good thing, right?

12/12/2018 - 6:52am The meltdown on 11W has…

The meltdown on 11W has already begun. Most are accepting of the fact he’s going to Michigan. He’s not announcing until his school is basically out on Winter break, just so he doesn’t have to catch any crap.

12/10/2018 - 10:10pm Haskins tweeted to their…

Haskins tweeted to their fans that it has been great being their qb. I don't think you would say it that way unless you are planning on going pro. They sell early entry to their recruits, so it's a goal from Day 1 to leave early.

12/10/2018 - 8:39pm They always say it’s…

They always say it’s relationships and comfort for recruits that win in the end. We’ve all been told he gets along with Michigan commits and he’s close to Al Washington. I doubt one game changes that, so that’s why we expect him to select Michigan.

Also, have any CB’s been switched? If there was anything new from Harrison they would be flipping to OSU.

12/10/2018 - 8:23pm My co-worker is a big…

My co-worker is a big Buckeye fan (I live near Columbus, about 5 minutes from the Harrison’s)  and we share intel from each of our fan sites. Apparently there’s nothing new and Greene said he thinks his relationship with Larry Johnson will win out, but his current pick of OSU is written in pencil.

When whatever information came out that caused everyone to change their CB pick from OSU to Michigan, Greene didn’t change because he didn’t hear anything new, but we know something was said to the Michigan staff that made them feel confident and Greene didn’t know about it. He’s less in the know than our staff and UM insiders, so I’m not falling for it.

The word at Orange, where my oldest kid goes to school, is he’s going to Michigan. That’s not inside information, I have zero connections. It’s just what is going around the school.

12/09/2018 - 12:43am If you’re going to sell your…

If you’re going to sell your soul to the Devil, you should go ahead and get full price, become an Alabama fan.

12/08/2018 - 11:38pm Do you truly believe that…

Do you truly believe that Michigan is so superior that we can competitively recruit with schools who pay while we don’t? We had a top 10 class in 2016 and a top 5 class in 2017. Either Harbaugh and staff are the greatest recruiters of all time and can convince players to pass up tons of cash just to play for him or the difference in cheating isn’t what people on here believe.

12/08/2018 - 11:16pm I don’t think we should…

I don’t think we should blame bag men when someone picks Bama a day after the top college awards were given out and Alabama had a finalist in almost every single category.

When Harrison announces his commitment to Michigan, and he will commit to Michigan, should we celebrate that our bag men finally showed up or will we tell ourselves he’s the one five star that wasn’t for sale?

12/08/2018 - 9:01pm The QB taking snaps for…

The QB taking snaps for Michigan right now was a part of that Ole Miss recruiting surge, so let’s not use that example.

12/08/2018 - 8:46pm Ask yourself this, if you’re…

Ask yourself this, if you’re going to college with a clear goal of being a professional football player, which program would be better for you? One that had a player nominated for nearly every major award given last night and competes for National Championships every single year or the program who hasn’t even played in their conference championship game yet? It doesn’t take a bag man to settle that decision. Our only hope is to start paying more than other teams. It doesn’t take a bigger offer to flip someone from Michigan to Alabama. It would just take a matching offer.

12/03/2018 - 8:34pm One of the areas where we…

One of the areas where we have an advantage over OSU is they pitch leaving early for the NFL to their recruits so every year they have at least a few guys go pro early. Michigan sells a prestigious degree and life after football. Rarely do we have someone who goes pro early to be a 3rd or 4th round pick. I’m not talking about those who will go in the top half of the first round, you probably should go early if you’re projected there. I think Hill, Long, and Patterson all come back but if the played at OSU, they would be gone because that’s what they’ve been sold since their high school recruitment.

12/02/2018 - 10:21pm If I`m Rashan Gary or any…

If I`m Rashan Gary or any other player with life changing money at risk, I`m sitting this game out. Also if I`m a coach with job security, like Harbaugh, I'm treating this game like the irrelevant exhibition that it is. By that I mean, playing a couple of series with some seniors who busted their tail for me over the last 4/5 years but didn't get much playing time. Also since I know what we have with Patterson, I may see what Milton can do with the ones for 2 -3 series. Obviously I'm not burning red shirts, but I would absolutely take advantage of the opportunity to play some guys that may be ready to take the next step or those that will expected to take over a position next year. Yes, you still play to win but it is a great opportunity for the young guys and a chance to say thanks to the non-NFL bound seniors. Most coaches have to worry about their jobs, so Harbaugh is in a unique position to do things a little differently with his team.

12/02/2018 - 3:05pm To those who say no, is it…

To those who say no, is it because it’s a two way tie and Michigan lost to the other co-champ? Would you feel differently if it was a three way tie with PSU where we go 1-1 with the other co-champs but lost the tie breaker?

Michigan was co- division champions and I’m okay with celebrating it or at least acknowledging it. I wouldn’t buy a hat or t-shirt though, but I will next year if it says back to back divisional champs.
