1 and 6 don't happen. I could see the rest happening though. Minnesota doesn't look nearly as good as they did earlier this season.
Instead of the 6th or 7th pick we get 14 or 15.

I want to buy in to Detroit, but I don't think I am there yet. The city is much better than it used to be based on my last visit there, but it really couldn't have gotten much worse.
For Detroit's long-term stability, SE Michigan needs to diversify its industry. The auto industry faces huge competition from Europe and Asia. The layoffs stated by the OP are a perfect example of the auto industry's vulnerability.
Other areas like Philly/NJ invested hugely in pharma and it paid off for them. NOVA and MoCo invested heavily in tech and it has paid off. Go to Northern VA sometime and see all the new buildings going up.
For me to buy into Detroit, I would need to see more investment in technology or pharma or whatever the next big thing is.
Detroit should also eminent domain the people living in the outer areas of the city and move them closer to the center so the city can deliver essential police, fire, and ems services effectively. I am not sure if this is still the case, but I read a story a few years ago about ambulance calls taking 40 mins. One reason for this was that only 1 or 2 houses on a city block were actually occupied, and the no one really patrolled the area. This is obviously politically and economically difficult for the city to do, but it would greatly improve the QoL in the city.

I don’t have any personal knowledge, just what Lorenz said about it. Since I don’t want to give it away, I’ll just say that the Hill family didn’t handle it the way you would hope as far as informing the UM staff.

|12/05/2018 - 2:16pm||The real problem with…||
The real problem with eliminating the conference championship game is that the committee already punished TCU and Baylor in 2015 for not playing in a game. Of course the committee vaulted OSU over both those teams and OSU won its championship. It may end up hurting the B1G rather than helping it.

|12/04/2018 - 1:52pm||I hate to jump into this…||
I hate to jump into this particular fray, but I will. UM was behind by 8 points in the third quarter when OSU blocked a punt and scored. UM down 15. Michigan threw the ball on the next series. Gentry dropped a 25+ yard pass on second down. Shea threw a pick on third down and OSU returned it to the 7. OSU scored quickly. UM down 22. The wheels fell off the wagon in a hurry in that game. UM threw the ball 38 times and rushed 40 times. I would wager most of the running plays happened when the game was close. People talk about the game like we got blown out early and never caught up. We got blown out midway through the second half and did throw to try and catch up, we just were never able to.

|12/02/2018 - 1:24am||It has already been said…||
It has already been said here, but if UGA really belonged they would have won today. This was de facto play in game and they lost and should be precluded from a rematch in 4 weeks.
ND should move to 4 below Oklahoma. While they are undefeated, they don't have the conference championship the other 3 have and their quality wins are Michigan in week 1 and Syracuse (best win was NC State).
That would set up Bama vs. ND and Clemson v. Oklahoma. Those would be compelling games, but for much different reasons.

|11/29/2018 - 1:52pm||I am all for players making…||
I am all for players making money off their likeness. It would bring back college football games and could allow players to have endorsement deals with national and local companies.
I still don't think the school can directly pay players under Title IX unless it offers the same amount to both male and female athletes. That get's really expensive when you are really spending dollars 2:1.
If the system ever gets "blown up" and payments are allowed, it should be totally free market. The best players will go to the schools that can afford them and the rest will fall away.
|11/29/2018 - 1:03pm||I've seen a few people…||
I've seen a few people advocate for fewer conferences with more teams, but I think we should have more conferences with fewer teams.
There are 65 P5 schools, and 66 if you wanted to add UCF.
Make six 11-team conferences that play round robin. That leaves 2 non-conference games for rivals or cupcakes.
Playoff would be 6 teams with the conference champion getting an auto bid.
I think we should eliminate the polls all together and just use some average of S&P+, FEI, etc. to rank the conference champions.
The rest is like the NFL with home games for the higher seed until the national championship.
The G5 can do the same thing and have their own championship. I would like some kind of promotion/relegation opportunities, but I am not sure how that would work.

I was going to make this same comment. Does the B1G want to be left out 2 years in a row? The B1G hasn't scored a point in the playoffs since the inaugural 2014-15 season. OSU would need a ton of help to make it at this point.

|11/19/2018 - 12:58pm||I suppose that's true…||
I suppose that's true depending on how you choose to measure performance. If the promotion of a judge was based on the number of times he or she was overturned by a higher court, then it would matter.
If promotion is based on whether the outcome favors the views of the party of president who appointed the judge, then I guess that is a sort of performance, but not necessarily whether the judge did a good job in the eyes of other judges.
The latter is much more important for promotion than the former.

Weather is supposed to be pretty good tomorrow and Cuse runs a tempo offense.
My thoughts on ND are they will only play 4 true road games this year. Those were at Wake Forest, Virginia Tech (w/o a QB), Northwestern, and USC. I don't think ND is one of the best 4 teams in the country, I don't even know if they are top 8. I don't think the committee puts an 11-1 ND team in the playoff. Since USC can't tie its own shoes, this is the only chance they have left to lose. Even is ND finishes 12-0, if they struggle the next 2 weeks and UM blows out IU, OSU, and NW, I could see us moving into 3rd and ND being 4th.

I should add too, this wasn't meant to be a definitive rankings of teams, but rather a comparison of schedules. OSU and ND haven't played anyone. In fact, if you remove UM from ND's numbers, ND's opponent win % is .486.

A lot of people lump MD in with Rutger and ask why can’t we get rid of them both. I don’t think that’s fair to MD though (for selfish and unselfish reasons). While MD may not be good at football, they manage to not be a total dumpster fire in a difficult division. MD adds a lot of value in other sports like men’s and women’s basketball and lacrosse.
I realize MD isn’t in a traditionally Big 10 area, but I’ve been to both games since I moved out here and they are almost 50/50 UM/MD people. Usually more UM than MD at the end of the game.
I went up to Rutger once to watch the 78-0 beating, but I’m not going back this year. Rutger takes way more than it adds to the conference and having to play them every year is an insult to the game of football.
|11/08/2018 - 4:18pm||When McKeon is not an inline…||
When McKeon is not an inline blocker, and sometimes when he is, he has a tendency to not breakdown before making contact. This results in a lot of whiffs. Some of that might be him not being sure which guy is his.
As Brian mentioned he takes some bad angles too where he runs to the spot his man is at instead of where his man will be given the flow of the play. These are all pretty easy fixes.
He does seem a touch slow out there which could be him just not being confident on who he is supposed to block on a given play.
