“Ace, your #5...” I thought that exact thing too!

Thank you Ace. I’ve been reading the site for 7 years and listening to the pod since I can remember. You’ve been great.

I truly hope that everything works out for you. You will be missed here. Get well good sir.

08/29/2018 - 1:32pm The hype train on AJ needs…

The hype train on AJ needs to slow down. He's good no question, but BC wasn't playing the greatest competition either.

Louisville (94) and UCONN (108) were awful in run defense (S&P+ rankings). While Syracuse was meh (61) and FlaSt and NC State were good (26 and 44).

Basically he's good, but we need more than just a small sample size. Football just needs to get started so these fluff pieces stop.

(Still, it would be nice if he were on the roster)

They will always find a way to

push the teams they cover the most.

He ran over inferior competition. I like him, but slow down. What would Samuels do to lower competition?

08/02/2018 - 3:37pm Knowing the individual…

Knowing the individual involved in the Colorado incident there are differences. One of the differences is how things were handled behind the scenes.

The time it took them to take action was one of the worst parts. He was told directly from the person what had happened and he went up the ladder. He then, I’m sure at the behest of the university, stopped communication with the victim. Tumpkin served as DC for their bowl game and it was still a few weeks later, more than a month after being told, he was fired.

07/15/2018 - 7:36am Also know that the average…

Also know that the average size for a center diamond is only 1/2 carat. My wife's is that size with a total weight of 1 carat and it looks larger, shines better and to this day she still gets more compliments on it than her friends rings that have 1 carat center diamonds. That means something to them don't forget.

07/15/2018 - 7:33am Having worked at a jewelry…

Having worked at a jewelry store for 4 years and seeing every sort of ring you can and every sales pitch you can hear (I was the honest one in the store) stick to COLOR, CUT, CLARITY. The higher they all are the better. Don't listen to a lot of the buzz words because that's just to sound fancy.

First of all find out what she likes. Round cut or Princess or other? Remember that the cut of the diamond is a fad with the exception of Round. They are timeless. (I mean this is for a lifetime).

Second know her style. A classic piece or a simple large diamond? Or perhaps something with a little more flair?

Third. Just because a ring looks good in a case or online DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL LOOK GOOD ON. This is tricky because you need to discuss getting married and she would have to try some on to get a sense of what she is looking for. Ask her friends, her family. They will help.

Fourth. I hate to say it but a store like Kays or Jared isn't a completely terrible idea. You pay for the SIZE of the ring (total carat weight) NOT FOR THE RATING. Look at the certified diamonds there and see if you can find the best match. Don't listen to the sales people if they say "well this is a great diamond even though the clarity is I1." You can do better. They also have diamond events so be on the look out for those. One should be coming up soon.

It's not easy and it can take some time but don't rush it. The payoff will be worth it. I also agree that they best route is to go wholesale (not easy for everyone) or a family jeweler. Remember it's a long term investment so like a home or car a warranty is important. You need someone that you can trust. Good luck.

07/13/2018 - 11:25am They lost by far their most…

They lost by far their most important pieces and you can't just replace them. Their oline is still shaky and it's not like they were consistently good on offense. They relied on explosive plays from Barkley and jump balls to Gilseki. Hamilton forced teams to stay honest. Special teams is important for them too. I'm not saying they aren't good, but not anything like Clemson.

07/13/2018 - 11:13am This is what I try to…

This is what I try to explain and people just don't want to hear it.

07/13/2018 - 11:11am Of course youth is a part of…

Of course youth is a part of college football. We are talking about 18-22 year olds. But not all wins and losses are equal. Teams have histories and coaching schemes work better against different opponents. It's how it is.

As far as recruiting goes and the impact it had on the roster, go back through this blog and you will see a very clear explanation of how that impacted the roster. Also using Alabama as an example is silly. Their recruiting is unparalleled. For every 5* freshman that succeeds there are 5 that don't pan out with them.

I'd rather have Harbaugh. I really would have loved to see Franklin coach last years offense without Moorehead. As far as X's and O's and who would I rather have for the long haul, we have him. Stop complaining. It could be worse. Or have you forgotten?

07/13/2018 - 10:02am Franklin is a good guy, good…

Franklin is a good guy, good recruiter so the players like him. That team did well last year because of Moorhead and Barkley. With those 2 gone along with others on offense, that unit will not be the same. How quickly we forget how that team has struggled when they shouldn't offensively and against weaker teams.

As for Harbaugh, this blog has discussed in the past how the roster construction impacted the team on the field. No, it's not the only reason this team lost games, but it does have an impact. Last years team was victim to a shaky oline and terrible qb play. Despite that they were in the thick of it. I doubt Fanklin and PSU with a backup or third string qb wins as many games as they did last year.

06/08/2018 - 8:15am Great piece and I love the…

Great piece and I love the analysis. I do however disagree with "And while they were clearly ahead of us last year,"

I just do not think that is accurate. As you said all things the same, with Patterson we probably win that game. I'll say we would've won that game.

01/18/2018 - 1:48pm You're right

I read that wrong.

01/18/2018 - 12:36pm Tackles moved up

Mayfield - 126

Hayes - 140

Not to bad I'd say. It would be nice to see a few of the remaining targets decide on the good guys and this class will round out rather nicely.

01/16/2018 - 3:15pm the party a little late

That's how that should have went. I get the negs, I'm just staying optomistic. I have a good feeling that this team will have a great year next year, no more acts of God or punters who can't fall on a ball or refs who can't correctly measure a football. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. It's happened before. I trust how the staff scouts. Let's all hope the offensive line resembles a funcational unit next year otherwise a defensive tackle recruit (granted a position of need) will just not be that important in the grand scheme.

01/16/2018 - 1:08pm Maybe a bit of an overreaction

I wouldn’t say Michigan is “truly far behind” in recruiting. Most of the guys that they have missed on they either cooled on contact or got to the party. Have faith in Harbaugh.

01/13/2018 - 9:08pm This really isn’t news

CMU was on his list last week. Got a free ticket to visit his brother. Also CM Life is the student publication up there. Not a big deal, that’s all you have to say.

01/10/2018 - 12:30pm Awesome

My day just got better :/

12/22/2017 - 11:36am Proud teacher

Congratuations to you daughter! I teach and I have two students that were accepted this week and a third that was deffered. It's exciting when you watch these kids go through high school for four years and make where they want to go.

I didn't realize it was that many applicants! That's amazing.

12/15/2017 - 9:54am Answered but really?

It may have answered some questions but it left a lot to be desired.

10/03/2017 - 12:48pm Their line has been terrible

Ours hasn't been good but don't say that like theirs has been anythig but terrible. Lewerke is in trouble.

09/23/2017 - 8:51pm I'm not going to go that far

He avoided some pressure. He made some nice throws. He also had to manage the offense against a bad defense and his passes were usually on one read. Maybe that's how this offense should have been with Wilton. That said I'm not sure that a one read pass offense is going to work long term. Glad the bye week is here.

09/04/2017 - 10:57am The app is garbage

They have had their streaming issues for the past few seasons. I have no expectation that they will fix it anytime soon. Whether it be on my laptop, phone (which seems to be the best), roku streaming stick or apple tv.

It's an issue that they are simply ignoring.

08/31/2017 - 5:24am Michigan 24 - 7

24 - 7 M

08/15/2017 - 6:59pm Yeah...

I have baby brain. Been watching the little one so sometimes my mind processes a little slower than usual. :p

08/15/2017 - 3:57pm Gary in 2019

He has Gary at 6 in this mock. Pointed out that he wasn't very productive his freshman year. He clearly just looks at counting stats. IMO Gary is a top 5 pick and a viable candidate for top 3.

08/12/2017 - 10:56pm Cut the cord a few years ago

I have a roku and Apple TV. Having issues with a few apps on the roku right now and can't find an answer. What really helps is having a friend (or in-laws) with cable still and a login.

08/10/2017 - 9:45am That's what I figured too.

That's what I figured too.

07/12/2017 - 1:26pm Misdemeanor possession

For the second time. The article does say that McElwain has twice suspended players for the same violaiton.

06/15/2017 - 4:20pm I wish

that this was a thing 20 years ago. I know what I would have done differently. Good by the university to take this inititive. Let's see how it works out over the next 5 years.

04/12/2017 - 1:52pm This seems smart

I mean it's not like he is a projected lottery pick or anything.

03/06/2017 - 10:30pm Just listen to the geniuses on 97.1

They say end of the first, top half of the second (valenti) and his superstar producer says 4th round. Talk radio is the easiest job in the world...say something stupid, back it up with nothing and have morons with dumber opinions on the radio so you can make your listeners feel smarter.

03/06/2017 - 10:25pm Comical...

Walton was the best PG in the conference by some margin. What a joke. I hope he puts the team on his back for the weekend and sticks it to everyone.

02/08/2017 - 10:34pm These mock drafts

Are really pretty useless. They give their opinions. They change. They change again. And they are wrong half the time. It really is the best job in the world that I feel most of us here could easily do. Peppers, Charlton, Wormley go in the first...JD in the second....Butt 2/3 (maybe lower depending on recovery)...Glasgow 3-5...Kalis 4-6...Gedeon 4-6...Hill/Thomas (I mean they should come as a combo) maybe 5-7...Darboh 2-4...Chesson 3-6.

But who knows. I will gurantee, they will ALL crush at the combine and at their Pro Day.

02/04/2017 - 8:21pm Throw in

Jim Caldwell too. Lets clean house!

01/25/2017 - 9:23pm You can add

Dackich to that as well. Really can't stand that guy.

01/25/2017 - 5:22pm Michales at the top

Keith Jackson, Verne, and not sure on the 4th spot. I can tell you who isn't there....Tirico. Can't stand his voice and of everyone I've seen mentioned he sounds the fakest throughout the game. Plus he points out way too many useless stats. Can't stand him.

12/18/2016 - 4:01pm Packers division champs

book it.

12/17/2016 - 10:22am Picked up a Jumpman jersey

Woodson for $61. That is a nice deal if you ask me.

11/29/2016 - 8:45am Leave it to the B1G to

NOT admit there was a major issue. They have defended their terrible officiating crews for years and there is no accoutability to force them to change anything. It's a shame.

11/10/2016 - 1:47pm Interesting...

He may easily be one of the worst commentators that the mothership has to offer. In all honesty that is a lot to say. They have gone really far downhill in the past decade so they don't have a lot of announcing/color talent.

11/03/2016 - 12:41pm Ask the Tigers

Their payroll at the start of the season was $173 million. Which was $57 million MORE than the Cubs $116. Which is close the median.

10/02/2016 - 1:31pm Screw WMU

CMU is my school and it sucks losing to them. That said, it was clear after season 1 the Fleck is the real deal and will be a hot name after this season to move up. The question I have is, are there any B1G teams smart enough to move on him?

08/26/2016 - 10:43pm Is this football?

It kind of reminds me of a high school game where the kids are pumped to be on the field.

08/17/2016 - 1:04pm One step closer

Are we one step closer to the Toto Toilet Bowl?

06/23/2016 - 2:01pm The Players Tribune

I know that he wrote it, but his letter to NBA GMs he mentions that he had the same injury as Kevin Durant and went to the same specialist. It took KD more than a year to get right and he was this year. The doctor has given Caris a bill of health and that he should be alright.

I'm not saying that Caris is KD but CJ McCollum had foot injuries too and he is doing well. There were no "red flags" about him according to NBA GMs too. He could and probably will be a solid player on a good team. 20 - 25 minutes a night and that would be great. I hope he does slip all the way to the Pistons in the second round.
