It's hard not to agree with this. Through the words of recruits, it sounded like Harbaugh was going to air it out, especially with the considerable number of weapons at the program's disposal.

But one counterpoint is that the OL wasn't in a place to make that happen. It may well have been his intention to execute this kind of offense, but it was too early in Warinner's tenure to get the OL in a place to deliver on that desire.

It's not so bad in itself; Stanford is a great school and signing day is about a year away. It has just been a damn terrible run over the past few weeks.

12/31/2018 - 1:22pm Top-level chess is so…

Top-level chess is so intense, it's hard to attract the best talent to college. They're just too focused on training for games.

12/31/2018 - 1:21pm I really think that if Judit…

I really think that if Judit Polgar focused on chess, she had top-5 potential. The real difference was that she kept playing top competition. For whatever reason, though, she is the exception.

12/21/2018 - 8:38am If the wife is still fertile…

If the wife is still fertile, maybe it's time we take a look at little Denard. A strong Michigan will make for a much happier (second) child.

The kid in Alumnus93's video really makes it, for me.

12/19/2018 - 9:14am No problemo.

No problemo.

Update 1: Announcement was just made that they're rescheduling multivariable calculus because of the ceremony.

EDIT 2: GO BLUE! INCREDIBLY SHORT PRESENTATION!

12/18/2018 - 4:19pm I've largely stayed away…

I've largely stayed away from the boards after Ohio State, but that's more to do with my depression about the program and my depression about having depression about a college football team.

I think that negativity and pessimism--if not part of some larger health issue--are largely a choice. But these last few weeks have been brutal. Honestly, even recruiting victories feel hollow after the Ohio State disaster.

12/18/2018 - 4:10am I agree with many of the…

I agree with many of the arguments that the program's perception does really shape the narrative. But just objectively, Solomon was a guy at a position of need. Michigan is probably left with freshman on the two-deep. Even putting aside the blue chip aspect, there are ominous depth issues.

12/17/2018 - 5:19pm I saw something where the…

I saw something where the kid has already packed up and bailed.

12/17/2018 - 3:17pm Any evidence he was forced…

Any evidence he was forced out? Dude was injured this year. He showed serious flashes of talent at a position with very little depth. It just doesn't make sense that Michigan is angling to make him leave.

12/17/2018 - 8:36am The context, however, is…

The context, however, is that they were in the playoffs at the time.

12/16/2018 - 5:01pm 100% of Crystal Balls are to…

100% of Crystal Balls are to Michigan as of this post.

12/16/2018 - 2:21pm I'm glad I checked the board…

I'm glad I checked the board before posting. You're fast. Anyway, he was a good one (247 link), but alas.

12/14/2018 - 9:53pm The program really needed a…

The program really needed a win, and I'm glad for it. Congrats to Warinner and whomever else was on this kid. Fantastic get.

12/13/2018 - 5:16am I think Dax has said that he…

I think Dax has said that he wants to commit with his teammates in February. That might be some cover for him, but it's also entirely plausible.

12/11/2018 - 2:45am When did he drop OSU from…

When did he drop OSU from his list? I don't recall seeing that until now.

12/10/2018 - 7:01am Cripes, that loss followed…

Cripes, that loss followed by the Hill decommitment was backbreaking. You see a game where the defense's major weakness is exposed, you have a guy who can plug that weakness, and that guy who pledged to Michigan due in-part to academics bails without warning to an entirely inferior academic institution.

12/10/2018 - 2:30am I'm expecting low TV ratings…

I'm expecting low TV ratings. The fanbase and program have taken a hammering.

12/07/2018 - 10:07am It's not a matter of law,…

It's not a matter of law, exactly, but from what I understand, it's an issue of the state legislatures.

12/07/2018 - 9:43am From what I recall reading…

From what I recall reading from similar threads on other boards, you can't get Oklahoma without Oklahoma State. And I'm not sure either are good enough academically. Texas might overshadow it all, however.

11/06/2018 - 2:21am From his decommitment letter…

From his decommitment letter, it seems that he got processed. If true, and if there are not other important but unmentioned reasons (grades, etc.), this is wrong. There are mitigating factors (timing, etc.), but I don't think it absolves the program or Harbaugh. This is wrong.

11/05/2018 - 3:30am There is room to disagree,…

There is room to disagree, but that pretty much evaporates when you take his low-key, spotlight-averse personality into consideration. The kid is genuinely torn, especially with OSU and PSU making terrible cases right now for their program trajectories.

11/01/2018 - 10:07am I like Ed's 'role'--an…

I like Ed's 'role'--an analytics guy. You've got Sam the insider, Craig the historian, Brian the synthesizer, and then Ed. I just don't think he's forceful enough in articulating his positions and why they're important.

11/01/2018 - 6:28am Cowherd looks absolutely…

Cowherd looks absolutely abysmal in this clip. If I'm debating Klatt, I'd investigate the B1G's record against non-P5 teams (like Purdue's loss to EMU) or something. I don't believe Cowherd made a coherent counterpoint the entire time.

But I also get the feeling that he's not really looking to do that. He's trying to get viewers, and I think bumper sticker one-liners (Wisco QB can't throw 8 yards, can't pay me to watch UCLA, etc.) might work better than going through the facts.

10/31/2018 - 6:39am Agreed. I don't mean by this…

Agreed. I don't mean by this post that you took a bad course of action. I just wanted to point out that trolls end up helping the site more than anything else. My post was directed at the OP.

10/31/2018 - 6:30am OSU, MSU, and Maryland? Does…

OSU, MSU, and Maryland? Does that make sense? You've got a program that basically sanctioned lying about knowing a staff member committed domestic abuse, a horrific sexual abuse scandal that was enabled by an administration, and a kid who died for entirely preventable reasons. In all instances, the schools let the perpetrators get off lightly.

10/30/2018 - 11:05am I'm thinking 6th behind …

I'm thinking 6th behind 'Bama, Clemson, ND, LSU, and UGA,though I could see 5th. The SEC will sort itself out, and Michigan will be fine if the team keeps winning.

I'm concerned about a situation where 'Bama loses to LSU, however.

10/30/2018 - 8:50am I think the joke is on you…

I think the joke is on you. Dumb threads like this actually help the site generate money. Every person ensnared in an intentionally dumb thread, and every such person who makes a response about it, isn't any less likely to come back in the long term and generates money for MGoBlog in the short term. Newbies can quickly read the responses to discern that this thread is atypical for the site and that this kind of post makes you a pariah--or gets you banned.

10/30/2018 - 6:45am They said they don't like…

They said they don't like the matchups. They think Michigan's running game is pedestrian, and they're not convinced that the passing game will be able to make up for it. On the other hand, they think the defense is the truth, though they think the result against ND showed that it can't perform against good-quality offenses.

10/30/2018 - 3:57am Where did you get this info?…

Where did you get this info? And while people were miffed about recruiting, it was OL improvement/performance that most have a problem with. It's at least worth exploring why a new OL coach this year really improved things where they got worse under Drevno.

10/29/2018 - 11:01am He also drops a hilarious …

He also drops a hilarious 'and stuff' every now and again.

10/29/2018 - 10:05am This is a good point, though…

This is a good point, though on the other hand, why not make the visit? He already knew he wasn't coming to Michigan for Penn State, and there's nothing wrong with getting more info. I just can't imagine all the smoke with Meyer (scandal + health), Bosa (leaving school instead of rehabbing at OSU), and the general trajectory of the program are helping OSU's case.

10/29/2018 - 9:03am Is this a parody account of…

Is this a parody account of some kind? I'm not sure if there's a specific target (I would've guessed Wolverines Wire, but the OP's account is too old) or if this is a generalized jab at weirdly composed recruiting updates.

10/29/2018 - 9:00am The young man already showed…

The young man already showed up to Michigan-Wisconsin, and I think he'll probably see Michigan again for The Game.

10/29/2018 - 8:59am I wonder if the biggest…

I wonder if the biggest loser in the Zach Harrison sweepstakes will end up being George Karlaftis. Brohm ends up elsewhere and Karlaftis loses his spot because Michigan convinces Harrison. I don't believe Michigan has room for both.

Edit: Sounds like Michigan has room for both. I was thinking this year's class had maybe 2-3 spots left, where Michigan definitely has at least one spot reserved for an OL, but I'm forgetting about departures from Hudson and Singleton.

10/29/2018 - 3:46am Their game against Iowa…

Their game against Iowa couldn't have gone much better for Michigan. I feel like the score was high and close enough that they had to show off some of the playbook for Brown to download and destroy. They also ended up winning, which improves the quality of a potential win.

Downside is that I think their defense has really improved, based on the Iowa game. Their young players had impressive recruiting profiles, and they've matured rapidly.

10/29/2018 - 3:23am I remember a Sam Webb…

I remember a Sam Webb interview where his parents where they were most impressed with Michigan winning at Wisconsin but described the drive from their home to Nebraska as 3 hours shorter than the drive to Michigan. I think that pretty much sealed it.

10/26/2018 - 10:36am Hmm. Maybe he's both…

Hmm. Maybe he's both incredibly persuasive and toxic? I don't know.

10/26/2018 - 10:03am I think Paterno's OC was his…

I think Paterno's OC was his own son--a guy who I'd don't believe had a football job since. So I don't think the analogy is a good fit.

10/26/2018 - 9:59am Oh hell, he's a Vol.

Oh hell, he's a Vol.

10/26/2018 - 9:37am I can't find anything saying…

I can't find anything saying this online, but boy, I would be very surprised. Tennessee looks terrible and Pruitt's rep as a toxic dude is pretty widespread.

10/26/2018 - 9:29am Do you have a link on that?…

Do you have a link on that? Everything I've seen is speculation based on visits.

10/26/2018 - 4:49am He's a CEO-type of coach,…

He's a CEO-type of coach, which honestly isn't a terrible thing. He has been able to identify coaching and player talent, too. The one thing he doesn't delegate is in-game decisions. If he did that, he'd be just fine. However, I hadn't heard about all this stuff where he doesn't care about people when they get on campus. It sorta makes sense, I suppose.

10/26/2018 - 4:37am I haven't seen this…

I haven't seen this mentioned in the comments, so I'll give it a shot. For the last 2-3 cycles, Georgia has landed at least one 5-star running back. I can't imagine how that's a sustainable situation. As others have pointed out, however, on its own it makes sense because the kid is from Louisiana. But the larger picture of kids leaving the class is kinda interesting.

10/26/2018 - 4:27am Big or little, I still haven…

Big or little, I still haven't been paid for the name, so they can all go to hell.

10/26/2018 - 2:23am This makes sense, thank you!

This makes sense, thank you!

10/25/2018 - 9:44am Could you please explain…

Could you please explain strength of opponent v. expected win %? I don't know much about either one.

10/25/2018 - 8:20am I'm personally wondering if…

I'm personally wondering if Purdue emptied the cupboard for Ohio State and will have trouble showing up the rest of the way. However, given Michigan State's injuries, I think they win their next one.

10/25/2018 - 7:44am I just wanted to flesh out…

I just wanted to flesh out the 'not played anyone' thing. It's basically true. I don't know how these rankings work, but here's what I see:

  • Top 3 best teams 'Bama has played
    • 18 - Texas A&M (W, 45-23)
    • 25 - Missouri (W, 39-10)
    • 46 - Ole Miss (W, 62-7)
  • Top 3 best teams Michigan has played
    •   7 - ND (L, 24-17)
    • 13 - Wisco (W, 38-13)
    • 42 - Michigan State (W, 21-7)

Upcoming games:

  • Best teams 'Bama will play:
    • 15 - LSU
    • 17 - Auburn
    • 20 - Miss. State
  • Best teams Michigan will play:
    • 10 - Penn State
    •   8 - Ohio State

That Wisconsin win makes Michigan look 'Bama-like, but just look at how they destroyed A&M and Ole Miss, both comparable to the Michigan State game. Michigan will apparently have stiffer challenges, not including potential Championship games. However, if you take the average strength of the opponents, diluted severely for Michigan by Rutgers/Indiana, it's probably about the same, if not worse.
