Once upon a time, there was a defensive end who transferred from CMU to a Big Ten school. It turned out pretty well. (See WATT, J.J.)

02/17/2019 - 10:32pm Well, it depends on what …

Well, it depends on what "almost got beat to shit" means. I took it to mean that he got beat, but he didn't get beat to shit. Our guys got a few punches in before the bouncers at Dooley's threw him out on his ass.

Yeah, that was incredible. I never really knew the whole Bundy story before. A-plus job by the guys who were responsible for watching him.

If you want to see how everybody did, you'll find all the box scores here. LINK. Christian Hackenburg did not set the world on fire.

This doesn't suck. It's cool to see how happy San Antonio is to have a football team.

Denard Robinson was our best quarterback since Henne.

I thought the same thing, but then again, we retired Gerald Ford's number, and I don't think that was strictly because of his accomplishments while on campus.

Well, Steve Alford needs a job.

Why is nobody else pointing out that Zavier Simpson is on the same list as a guy named Shizz Alston Jr.?

Why am I not seeing Muppets? This game deserves Muppets.

I was rooting for a final score of 62-39. It was 56-38 at one point, so we were close.

I'll be honest. I thought our coach was still that guy who smashed the podium during the press conference.

I should have clarified for those who don't know that Bev Plocki is Michigan's women's gymnastics coach. And as fate would have it, Michigan's opponent tomorrow night is ... Michigan State.

I like the hire! And he's had success in this state - he was on the Steelers team that won the Super Bowl in Detroit.

Louisville beat MSU

I've been trolling the WVU blogs this morning, and nobody's talking about bringing RichRod back. This isn't a Bobby Petrino-returns-to-Louisville deal. They still hate him. Here are the candidates they're talking about in Morgantown:

Rumored candidates include Troy Trojans head coach Neal Brown, Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Luke Fickell, Army Black Knights head coach Jeff Monken, UCF Knights head coach Josh Heupel and Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Dan Enos, among others.

12/26/2018 - 1:32pm They should do something to…

They should do something to honor Willis Ward at the game. The first time that Georgia Tech came to the state of Michigan for a football game was in 1934, when Ward was benched because of his race (see "Black and Blue" if you haven't already). Seeing as how Ward grew up in Detroit, just a couple miles from Ford Field, they should acknowledge him in some way.

Hopefully the Quick Lane Bowl people are scouring MGoBlog in the hours before the game, looking for ideas...

When I was in school, I went to the 1979 Rose Bowl and 1979 Gator Bowl as a member of the MMB. As I recall, the Rose Bowl was incredible and the Gator Bowl was a pit. I have not been back to Jacksonville since.

I love all the legacy players we've had in the last 15 years or so - Woolfolk, Wangler, Jokisch, Runyan, Wheatley, Edwards, et al. Boren does not count.

Reminded me of Andrew Gaze of Seton Hall's shot at the end of the 1989 championship game. Every time I watch the replay, I think it's going to go in. Damn good gutty win.

On the MSU blog, they're already talking about how much they hate Iggy. And he's only played three career games.

Hot damn, this is going to be a fun few months.

11/12/2018 - 8:29pm Somebody needs to start a…

Somebody needs to start a database of all the Michigan athletes who have been on TV shows (Jim Harbaugh on "Saved by the Bell," Elroy Hirsch on "The Munsters," etc.); all the TV and film characters who graduated from Michigan (Ari on "Entourage," etc.); and all the TV shows and films with Michigan references. Hop to it, somebody!

10/31/2018 - 8:26am How did I now know that…

How did I not know that Beilein was his student teacher in high school? From the story:

"It’s a delicate topic. Michigan coach John Beilein declined through a spokesman to comment for this story, even though he and Valentine go back to the mid-1970s. Beilein, while playing at Wheeling College, worked as a student teacher in Valentine’s 10th-grade civics class at John Marshall High School in Glen Dale, W.Va."

I was a sophomore in the band. I'll never forget it. One of the best parts was the play or two before that, Lawrence Reid intentionally "fumbled" the ball out of bounds to stop the clock - right into Corso's arms.

OK, so I'm an idiot. Lucy Liu and David Alan Grier are also U-M alums who have hosted SNL. Any others?

10/23/2018 - 2:49pm One of my posts made it into…

One of my posts made it into Seth's Dear Diary. This might be the greatest day of my MGoLife.

That 40-4 record of Michigan vs. MSU in all sports this year does point out something else very important: Mark Hollis was a shitty athletic director. Before his career fell apart over Nassar, he was seen as this Athletic Director God because he got his basketball team to play on an airport carrier.

You need to judge an AD for the totality of the school's athletic programs, though, and in that regard, he was a shitty athletic director. MSU isn't just worse than us in most everything; they're overall awful in most everything. Most of their Olympic sports are terrible, and that's on Hollis.

10/23/2018 - 11:06am Is Louisville THAT much…

Is Louisville THAT much better a job than Purdue? If I'm Brohm, I'm waiting to see what else opens up. If he beats Sparty this weekend, he moves into the discussion to take over for Urbs.

10/22/2018 - 1:56pm You poke the bear, the bear…

You poke the bear, the bear will respond.

I loved Devin tearing up their field. He didn't do it like Baker Mayfield did it at OSU (to celebrate a win). He did it because he was provoked. He did it to tell them we weren't going to be their bitches any more. I'm guessing his coaches loved it and I KNOW his teammates loved it.

That was Charles Matthews smiling in Nick Ward's face, times a hundred. As far as I'm concerned, Devin Bush will always be a hero on our campus.

10/22/2018 - 8:40am Yes, somebody who isn't…

Yes, somebody who isn't BursleyHall1982 needs to look up our record vs. MSU in ALL sports for 2018. They're awful in most of the Olympic sports, so I'm guessing it's pretty impressive.

This just hasn't been their year.

So I'm guessing the real reason he left was because of the Gentry column.

No, he's just been proven wrong and should own up to it. If he's looking for content this week, write something that says, "I never thought Zach Gentry should have been moved to tight end, and I was wrong."

Gee whiz, didn't Scott Frost teach all of us that Michigan fans never forget?

10/09/2018 - 10:54am Exactly!

10/03/2018 - 2:11pm This is literally the best…

This is literally the best thing that's ever been on MGoBlog.

Everybody on this blog needs to shut it down and find other jobs, because none of you will ever do anything in the future that will ever measure up to these standards.

No. He made it personal back in 1997, so we must make it personal anytime we face him.

09/12/2018 - 8:05am How are they going to score…

How are they going to score the 9 points? They get close enough three times to kick field goals? They score a field goal and a touchdown, and then they're stopped when they go for two? Or three safeties and a field goal?
