01/30/2019 - 3:52pm Yep. It's honestly very…

Yep. It's honestly very realistic to expect us to better than next year. All a year older, and just replacing Charles Matthews with Livers in the starting line-up. Wow.

I read little pre-game, but the FFFF chart is a weekly must for me. I'd LOVE to see it used for basketball. It's a nugget-sized infograph that carries a ton of quick understanding.

12/29/2018 - 8:49am Yeah, I'm sure size is…

Yeah, I'm sure size is important here which is also why I mentioned he hasn't missed a game in four years. Size keeps him out of Power 5 maybe, but to be completely unranked confuses me.

4.48 was laser timed at a UA camp, so that's legit.

I think his plan is to go JUCO to get more exposure then transfer from there.

12/29/2018 - 7:14am Same questions. My son's…

Same questions. My son's high school has a senior RB who for the year has about 3000 yards and 40+TDs. 6k and 80+ for his career. North Virginia POY. Every team we played keyed on him because he was the only thing that brought us success. No one could stop him and the team had the best season in school history.

Set North Virginia record for yards gained. This is metro DC, a legit football region. Most rushes, yards, TDs in metro DC area. We have players on UM from this area.

Great, humble, hard-working kid. Doesn't get into trouble. Acceptable grades. Also starts at CB. Never missed a game because of injury.

Best offer is Morgan State. He's not even ranked. I don't get how the rankings work and I'm not even saying it's wrong. But I just don't get it.

This is the summary of my 47 years as a Lions fan. I couldn't have explained it better if I were to write pages and pages.

This is my Lions fandom wrapped into one shitty post.

And by shitty post, let me be clear - THIS GOT ME EXCITED! It is actually possible!

I'M BACK ON THE BANDWAGON BABY!

12/04/2018 - 6:01pm I would say a CEO coach,…

I would say a CEO coach, more than anything else, sets the culture. And a major part of that includes putting the right people in the right position. It also means getting the right talent at all levels, giving the resources and support when/where needed, understanding what the short/long term goals should be and who would be best at driving the goals, holding those accountable who need to be held accountable, building leaders that are team-driven, etc.

I've been praising Beilein for years b/c along with being such a great offensive coach, he is a tremendous CEO about creating the image of this program and getting all the players and staff to have complete buy-in.

(also, I'm an executive coach)

Please. For the love of god, give us a once/week 30 minute history podcast with Yak and Beilein. I would sincerely love that. Not even a joke. I wonder what topics they would choose to cover....

12/04/2018 - 2:00pm Good point ACE makes that…

Good point ACE makes that gives me confidence playing a zone defense (which has had me slightly worried):

That all important FT line offensive position is a perfect fit for Matthews, and I could see Iggy and Livers excel there as well. Put a solid passer there, someone who also would love to take one dribble and shoot, or even better two dribbles and a layup, someone who is tall enough and physically strong enough to not get bullied in that spot.

We got that position covered.

12/03/2018 - 2:29pm absolutely!

AD Ward should…

absolutely!

AD Ward should put a system into place ASAP that allows ticket holders to donate unused tix back to the school. Very easy and quick. UM could set up a quick system to get these tix into the hands of local schools and non-profits. Make it EASY for people who can't be bothered to sell their unused tix to still get the tix into the hands of people who would love to see a game!

COME ON MR WARD!

12/03/2018 - 2:26pm True, but they also have $4…

True, but they also have $4 tickets on sale online right now for their upcoming game - that's the real question for me. Why is UM second hand tickets so expensive? Must be that most people who own these tickets can't be bothered to sell - too much work for too little reward. Unfortunate though. I think it should be seen as a service to the UM community and the MBB program to get the tickets into the hands of people who want to attend. Give the to local school BB teams. Give them to charities, etc. A shame that the stadium isn't filled when there IS a desire to see this team, but not realistic for a majority of the local common folk.

St. Louis Home for Boys

Ann Arbor's IHN at Alpha House (family shelter)

There are so many options. I've worked at the two above years ago and both would have loved crappy tickets for any game. If you are sitting on digital tickets especially, it's sad to just waste them. There are many that would love the opportunity.

12/03/2018 - 12:35pm Agreed. I've visiting home…

Agreed. I'm visiting home for our family Christmas the weekend of Dec 15th. UM MBB plays WMU and I'm sure the game will be mostly empty. I was going to get tickets for my two sons and me. Looking online, there are almost zero available tickets in the lower bowl, and the couple available are actually expensive. Upper bowl anywhere on the sidelines are mostly around $30+ which is not expensive, but considering the stadium is mostly empty, it's confusing. I live in DC, and I can get $10 tickets to most Georgetown games if I want.

ALSO:

should I buy tickets outside the stadium? I'm thinking there is so little demand that few would even try to sell tickets on site.

12/02/2018 - 3:40am would it be easy to buy…

would it be easy to buy cheapest tickets by the stadium day of, or better to buy via onine site?

His charity is the St. Louis Center for Boys out in Saline - the place I worked at in the early 90's while a student! (In fact I used to bring the boys to Crisler for Women's games and would sometimes meet the Fab Five afterwards when they had practice, and the way Jalen Rose connected to those kids with very visible/uncomfortable disabilities will always make me respect him.) So yeah! I'll drop that as well.

I'm going to try this. I'm pretty sure he would do so gladly if it actually got into his hands and he had the time to read it. However I doubt either of those are likely. But yes, I'm giving it a try.

You can't have an agent while being on the team, correct everyone? That's a clear rule.

Do you mean he has relationships with them that he believes will become a business contract, or that he actually represents them?

Because I read this and it makes me doubt everything else in the post.

There are other options (including a discord stream posted on the board at game time every week, right?).

But this Reddit CFBStreams is always a safe bet. Reddit stream threads are always reliable to find solid streams for NCAA football, basketball, NBA, NFL, etc.

11/15/2018 - 7:43am Yes, and Beilein is a…

Yes, and Beilein is a psychological mastermind. He gets his players to play their best in the biggest games. They play focused but loose. He appreciates the moment, he gets his players to buy into how lucky they are and to enjoy the drama, have fun with the building pressure. How fortunate they are. And they respond by playing that way. Beilein is the single best tourney coach alive today. He's amazing. That's why any tourney prediction is just guessing always anyways, but even more so with Beilein. Sure, they'll probably run into a buzzsaw eventually. But Beilein makes it fun to take this ride with the team!

Dude is a beast. Great talent, but I feel that more than most, his focused optimism, hard work, and persistence were more important for his ascendance than most players in the NBA. He outperformed at every level and literally almost every single year. And always with positivity. Just an incredible dude. A Michigan Man.

It's like this:

First: play with immense intensity

Second: be able to run on them

Third: have the best fucking defense in the world

And OSU won't be able to do any of these things this Saturday.

I'm cutting line to post the video of Golden Tate jumping into the MSU band - because I promise you it'll be the best thing posted on this thread. This is true even though I don't know how to embed properly. If you watch it and still think I'm wrong, I will accept every downvote:

10/30/2018 - 1:05pm You know what I find most…

You know what I find most amazing about this team? That Jordan Poole is probably the fourth most intriguing (not best) player to me:

1) Simpson - He might become my favorite UM player in my 47 years (assuming he continues to develop). I love the way he plays and leads. He gets so much out of his abilities. Watch him on defense and notice how many times he has three points touching the floor because he is scooting around so aggressively. He is like Stauskas' snarl but 24/7.

2) Teske - So underrated last year (possibly except from the UM fan base). He does so much out there on defense but also offense. I'm eager to see what he can do with a lot of minutes and with Simpson cutting to the lane and dropping him dimes.

3) Iggy - I don't think we've had a player like him in my memory. He's a very poor-man's Stauskas / Shawn Kemp hybrid (OK that comparison sucks, but he's unique physically but also offensively mentally). Call me intrigued!

4) Poole - 4th on my list of who I want to see this year... and he might very well end up First Team All B1G.

10/27/2018 - 3:55pm I hate PSU, and a win/loss…

I hate PSU, and a win/loss in this game barely effects UM, correct? I'm asking if there is an important reason that we should be rooting for PSU (and hoping the answer is no).

Also, what's Marcus Ray's hot take this week now that Purdue lost?

10/24/2018 - 2:38pm Right on. I've been thinking…

Right on. I've been thinking very similarly this past week. Partner Shea's approach with a defense like Michigan, and that leads to success.

Because walk-ons aren't as athletic, and the only reason we see them on the field contributing is because they are able to bring something exceptional outside of their limited (for UM levels) athleticism - effort, awareness, focus, discipline, etc.

Easily the best thing that will ever happen to you - although it will also bring your worst grief and deepest regrets. Sometimes they all happen together, other times you only have the patience and energy to feel one of these things. Football on a Saturday with a baby in your arms is a great thing though. Start them early. I'll be watching Saturday night with my 10 and 17 y/o's.

The only real advice is to relax and remember that you will always be learning how to be a better dad, and you will always be learning how to better accept your failures as well.

There is no rush to being a father. Just spend the time.

I definitely come here less.I wonder if this was expected from our Dear Leader(s). The site before had problems, but it was compact and we knew it. I can imagine this type of change for any similar localized blog might also create similarly decreased traffic.

I'm sure they are on top if it. Keep plugging away. Keep improving. We will get more used to it.

For me, the user experience isn't as smooth - just a lot of scrolling, empty spaces. Comments seem to connect to other comments much less fluidly. It ***feels*** disjointed.

I never use mobile to access the site anymore. However, I can see how having a mobile friendly platform will make it easier for links to bring in more new mobile first-time users to the site. That's a positive. Will they stay? I hope so. Will I become as active as I was before? Don't know.
