05/29/2018 - 4:50pm Thanks for the very even

Thanks for the very even handed response.  I held on to my last car for 15 years so I get the value of sticking with something that works.  But yes, the fun of a new toy is good also.  This is no doubt an impractical purchase for me but one that I wanted to take a chance on.  It will be interesting to see how the industry adjusts (if it does) going forward.  Cheers.

"I'd rather take a car with 18mpg but that rarely brakes, "

To each his own but you should probably let your liability insurer know about that.  :-)

Edit: Damn, beaten to the punch.

Two weeks ago, I filled up my car at the station for the last time.  I brought home a Tesla Model 3 on Friday and have made the move to an electric car.  Still figuring it out and I know there will be bugs and bumps along the way but the combination of power, handling and efficiency feels ground breaking.  So far, the car has exceeded my hopes and expectations.

Took delivery of my Model 3 on Friday.  Still getting used to it and there proabably are a few bugs I will notice later but for now I love the car and it beats my expectations.

05/17/2018 - 1:34pm Yes, I remember that and,

Yes, I remember that and, although I didn't look at the rankings, slightly more recently the Traylor, Baston, etc. class might have ranked up there.  But that's going back 25 years ago.

05/17/2018 - 12:35pm When was the last time we

When was the last time we felt Michigan had realistic chances with 3 separate top 35-ish guys?

Obviously we will not get all of them but recruiting definitely feels energized.

05/10/2018 - 1:07pm Sorry guys but if Bamba was

Sorry guys but if Bamba was on this year's team we would have played Wagner at the 4.  Wagner could do it on offense easily.  Defense would be a little bit awkward but not much more than playing Duncan as a 4 on defense in the post.  And you would substantially improve the overall defense by inserting Bamba instead of Duncan/Livers.

I think he's right, Bamba on this year's team would have been great.

Thanks for the assist.

Not sure I agree that each of them behaves similarly but even if so, Crosby definitely earned his crybaby tag.  He has definitely toned it down a bunch but that doesn't make him honorable all of the sudden.

Russel Wilson is a fairly recent example.

04/23/2018 - 2:56pm This is very helpful.  It's

This is very helpful.  It's been a bit confusing seeing all of the hockey commitments pile up over the last 6 months so this helps a bit to clarify.  Great to see that recruiting seems to be on the uptick.

04/19/2018 - 9:33am In part.  But there's a

In part.  But there's a difference between being asked about a specific player in a press conference and responding honestly vs. taking to twitter unsolicited and taking shots at another program while clearly attempting to promote another program.

Do you see any difference there?

04/18/2018 - 9:49am How the hell is Brian Bowen

How the hell is Brian Bowen eligible to play?  NCAA is a joke.  Yes, I know...breaking news.

04/11/2018 - 3:23pm Not sure I agree.  MSU

Not sure I agree.  MSU returns some decent talent (Langford, Winston, etc) plus Michigan tends to start slow and if Wagner leaves will be replacing a lot.  I think there is a very good chance that Michigan ends up with the better team by year end but it may not start out that way.  And I am completely okay with that.

04/05/2018 - 4:07pm That was potentially on the

That was potentially on the verge of getting an OSU offer? (if what is reported is accurate).

04/05/2018 - 12:27pm Totally wrong.  First, he did

Totally wrong.  First, he did start winning, right away.  Last year was disappointing no doubt.

Second, he took over a program that was decending with ticket sales lagging, revenues falling off and sometimes empty seats and instantly made it "Michigan Football" once again.  For that alone, he has "earned" that compensation.

04/03/2018 - 5:17pm They were below their average

They were below their average because almost all of those 3s were contested.  Nova should not be expecting to shoot their average under those circustances (neither should we).  I think part of our problem is that our open looks were not to our best shooters (Livers, Charles, etc.) whereas Duncan and MAAR had more contested looks.

04/03/2018 - 5:11pm Yes.  Brunson is a good

Yes.  Brunson is a good player but that performance last night was pathetic.  Dropping his shoulder to try and create space, throwing the head back like he was shot and then having the nerve to question a few calls.  He may have had the best year for them and is a good shooter and a tough competitor but I don't think he is the best player on that Nova team.

04/02/2018 - 12:18pm Wow, I didn't realize that.

Wow, I didn't realize that.  I was in Rumsey House, right across the street.  Glad you made the ending.  Did you end up on South U afterwards?

04/02/2018 - 11:28am Still remember that night

Still remember that night being crammed in a room at West Quad with about 30 other guys, people stacked everywhere.  And then elation and running into the streets down to South U to celebrate.  Oh what a night...

03/21/2018 - 2:59pm I respect your hockey

I respect your hockey knowledge greatly but I am not sure I agree with all your points above.  I think that the lack of two a days at college and pro levels have to do much with less intensity at lower ranks and more to do with putting the best product on the ice at the upper levels given the fans and money involved.  We have all seen that, even at the youth levels after a tough first game, sometimes the second game lacks the crispness of the first.  So at higher levels of college and pros where "more is at stake" we want the players at their best.  I don't know that a 20 year old doesn't recover just as well as a 17 year old (at least for athletes).

As an aside, there is no use in including the picture of the stop sign on the sweater.  As you know, those signs are placed on the sweaters at an age where kids are just being exposed to checking for the first time.  That doesn't indicate any lack of competitiveness or intensity, it's simply as a safety mechanism during an adjustment period.  I don't think your overall point stands that college players are necessarily going harder or more intense than teens at the highest level and I certainly don't think it has anything to do with what they are wearing on their sweaters.

That said, I agree with the general point that we should not do two a days for college level hockey.

03/20/2018 - 10:01am One reason might be because

One reason might be because he was a grad transfer, a veteran starter and had practiced against other defenses before (outside of Michigan).

03/13/2018 - 12:08pm Agreed in general.  A month

Agreed in general.  A month or so ago, losing DRob looked like "no big loss" but now losing his shooting touch and spacing will definitely hurt.  Also, we are losing MAAR who has become a very important piece and Wagner (assuming Wagner goes), a more complete player than earlier in the season.  Yes, we have replacements but not someone that's going to be just as good.  Of course, we do get a solid injection of talent and more importantly, expected improvement from Livers and Poole.  But I agree that we can't just assume significant improvement - at least how the team is playing now.

03/05/2018 - 9:09am Well just about everyone that

Well just about everyone that plays under Izzo ends up a 4 year player, no matter how highly rated. :-)

03/05/2018 - 9:07am I am going with the hot take

I am going with the hot take of Winston would be a much better player if under Beilein than under Izzo.  But glad to have Z and how he is developing has been incredible.

03/04/2018 - 11:03pm Wait why would Carson Edwards

Wait why would Carson Edwards come back?  I assumed he was gone after this year after an All-B1G year.

03/02/2018 - 9:38am Win the GAMES!

Win the GAMES!

02/16/2018 - 2:05pm Wait so you see nothing wrong

Wait so you see nothing wrong and the overwhelming vote of no confidence and student protests are a "toxic witch hunt?"  Seems reasonable.  BTW, witch hunt implies that nothing was done wrong.  Is that the stand you want to take?

I am sure there are some good people with maybe good intentions. The problem is that the leadership at MSU doesn't seem to be "good intentions" to be open with the problem and find a solution.  The faculty response seems to clearly evidence this.

02/01/2018 - 10:55am OK but I think most would

OK but I think most would agree that starting as a true freshman (especially at positions in which it's more difficult to start early such at DT and WR) is a very good sign putting them on the verge of being hits (and certainly on that path).  Most would agree that it's a much better than 50/50 shot at this point.  I think that was the point.

01/29/2018 - 12:30pm I wasn't very knowledgable

I wasn't very knowledgable about W&M but I did take a campus tour and while the campus isn't for everyone, the program and presentation left me with a favorable impression of the academics and support program.  It's a small, private school feel but is a public school.

01/26/2018 - 4:05pm Well obviously I don't know

Well obviously I don't know but it does sound like she at least tried to bring about some changes and was finally frustrated enough to quit.  Not sure if that's the trust but she may not have been doing nothing.

01/26/2018 - 3:11pm Wow.  That is stunning.

Wow.  That is stunning.  Details are coming out like wildfire now and each time the "we didn't know about it" defense gets less and less credible.  And if in fact Title IX was violated (and it looks like that might have been an intentional violation - two versions of a report), I assume that is a major problem.

01/25/2018 - 5:14pm That would be big news if you

That would be big news if you blew a gasket.  So unlike you...

01/19/2018 - 2:19pm So they painstakingly avoid

So they painstakingly avoid using the letter M in everything they do but it's not a rivalry, huh?  Good to know.

01/18/2018 - 4:33pm I am sickened about Simon but

I am sickened about Simon but also this:

"an official who is now MSU’s assistant general counsel"

WTF?  MSU's general counsel received a report and didn't follow proper protocol?

01/15/2018 - 2:39pm Thank you for calling out the

Thank you for calling out the officiating.  It was (not surprisingly) pretty much terrible.  Fortunately, Michigan played above it, which makes the W all that more unexpected and sweet.  Some of the fouls on Wagner and Livers were so typical.

01/15/2018 - 2:08pm Yes, I mean if those are the

Yes, I mean if those are the best counterpoints then case closed.

01/11/2018 - 5:21pm Just wanted to comment on how

Just wanted to comment on how MAAR has become IMO an above-average B1G player.  Seemed like quite a project as a recruit and has blossumed into a very solid player and a leader for this young team.  Another testament to Coach B's ability to teach and develop.

01/10/2018 - 2:05pm With maybe the best defense

With maybe the best defense next year.  Just sayin.

01/09/2018 - 10:59am No, call the punt play

No, call the punt play correctly and it's a false start penalty (play blown dead) and really has no bearing on the game.  You could argue about yardage (10 yards) but that really didn't matter.

01/06/2018 - 9:15am Really too bad that this

Really too bad that this effort just goes down as an "L."  I thought the team played well and played resonsible.  They looked equal to ND (at least for one game).  Too bad they didn't get anything to show for it.

01/03/2018 - 12:38pm I guess Poor McCaffery is

I guess Poor McCaffery is never able to add another pound in a college weight program.

12/28/2017 - 4:07pm Good point but the news story

Good point but the news story is not really occurring for some reason (maybe obvious ones).  So an editorial is better than total silence on the matter.

12/28/2017 - 9:56am Yes, good point and I

Yes, good point and I understand that (but thank you for clarifying) but I raised that point about the public's reaction and whether it was stronger in some cases because the victims were boys as opposed to girls (or whether it was simply a case of the Paterno factor).

12/28/2017 - 9:30am I hesitate to say it but is

I hesitate to say it but is MSU handling this more poorly than PSU did?  Really I cannot understand why there is not more outrage about this.  The cynical side of me says that because PSU involved homosexual matters it was seen as more offensive?  I guess the PSU thing blew up because of Paterno's legendary status whereas this doesn't involve such a prominent figure?

12/20/2017 - 10:24am Does anyone find this Fischy

Does anyone find this Fischy that this occurred on early signing day?  Was his job to hold onto UCLA's recruits and then exit?  I know that's the reality now and good move for Fisch (wish him well) but the timing is just a bit odd.

12/20/2017 - 10:18am I understand your point but

I understand your point but to say what Harbaugh accomplished in the NFL is irrelevant to recruiting is dumb also.  Most of these players have NFL dreams and Harbaugh knowing what it takes, having recent connections and putting guys in the NFL certainly helps his recruiting, whether he has won a title in college or not.

12/19/2017 - 2:26pm That is the logical answer.

That is the logical answer.  So my guess is that the NCAA will do just the opposite.

12/18/2017 - 4:04pm Okay, but then if he grabs a

Okay, but then if he grabs a 3-star over the summer (like the Greens) then they were plan A guys, right?  The timing certainly does indicate a strategy to fill some slots but we also have guys that are lower rated that committed long ago.  I guess in the end we will not know until they are several years in the system.

12/15/2017 - 5:03pm I agree with your points.  I

I agree with your points.  I would also add that you could make a case that she could keep her job if (a) she knew nothing, AND (b) upon first learning of this, she took immediate action including ordering a full investigation that was transparent, AND (c) those at fault are quickly shown the door, apologies are issues and immediate corrective actions are taken.  It seems apparent that at least some of that did not happen.
