Makes sense, I've been confused by Google the same way before.

Agreed. Nebraska's offense looks lethal right now and they looked better against Mibby this week than OSU did last week.

MSU is @ MSU and they should pull typical MSU shit to slog the game down, make it close, get some weather/turnover luck. Then again, Dantonio might throw this game if it would hurt us for him to win.

Maryland has an improved defense with a big play offense. That's a recipe to beat OSU and it's at Maryland the week before the game.

OSU should win all those games. They should win tonight too though.

10/20/2018 - 10:30pm Don't know what you're…

Don't know what you're looking at. Rest of the way they have:

Bye

vs Nebraska

@ MSU

@ Maryland

vs us

The way they've been playing recently any of those games are honestly lose-able.

To be fair NC St ain't played nobody so how good are they? Also Clemson at least beat TAMU.

10/20/2018 - 6:09pm Minnesota had 5.4 YPC last…

Minnesota had 5.4 YPC last week against OSU. They're at 2.5 currently against Nebraska. We should run all over OSU.

10/20/2018 - 6:07pm Indiana has 7 YPC against…

Indiana has 7 YPC against PSU right now. We'll be coming off a bye at home. We will run all over them

The first 2.5 quarters minus the one drive felt like hell. Once the DPJ pass happened the flood gates opened and pure domination.

Sucks to see JBB go down but he walked off. We have a bye and probably don't actually need him til OSU so rest up. Interesting that Steuber came in and not Hudson.

10/20/2018 - 2:49pm Whether it's Shea, Pep or…

Whether it's Shea, Pep or Harbaugh this is pathetic. Shea doesn't even look downfield or let a route develop.

I don't think Scott's our for the season, and the pessimist in me says he's back tomorrow.

Okay and? If he leaves because he's not getting playing time here, then good for him, that's his call. Especially if he's behind 2 LBs in his class like you said, why should he stay? Besides Michigan fans entitled enough to act like he owes something to them more than himself.

Yeah DJ was a healthy scratch, not a great start for him.

Unfortunately Duncan got no burn tonight for the Heat. Crawford and the Suns play later tonight, Wagner and the Lakers start the season tomorrow against Stauskas and the Trail Blazers.

All eyes will obviously be on the Lakers tomorrow night as we see the much anticipated debut of future HOF Moe Weezy.

10/17/2018 - 8:19pm Sure. We could use another…

Sure. We could use another guy or two. We're in a good spot with Crouch, very realistic chance to get him, so if we land him all is fixed. Even if we don't between the rest of this cycle in the next I feel fine about the coaches getting 1-2 more good players, especially since they won't have to play right away and can develop.

10/17/2018 - 8:15pm Anyone who says players that…

Anyone who says players that transfer aren't team oriented should have to eat a bag of sand.

10/17/2018 - 8:14pm Assuming Bush leaves after…

Assuming Bush leaves after this year we will have 5 LBs on the roster for 2 spots. We only have 6 now and would have had 6 if Singleton stayed. In your scenario that's also 5 instead of 6. That's without taking another LB like Crouch this year and having all of next year to add the the 2020 class with Wheeler. It's not fun losing a potential good player like Singleton but the depth is there as well as the time to add more. It sucks but if Singleton felt this was best for him, then good for him and good luck to him moving forward.

10/17/2018 - 6:27pm Eh kinda. He said mid week…

Eh kinda. He said mid week no Dwumfour and Gary would play, but by day of he said Dwumfour and Solomon were probable while Gary was questionable. So this info about Gary/Mason/Black isn't nail in the coffin, but he's probably not wrong either. Just too early to tell.

10/17/2018 - 1:49pm Had no idea Morris was back…

Had no idea Morris was back on an NBA team. Seems like it's a 2 way deal but still, good for him.

Also Walton is probably going to be one of my favorite Michigan players of all time. What he did the second half of his senior year was insane, and it reversed the Michigan/Beilein narrative of 3 straight under achieving seasons to now us being a national title contender again.

They were giving out maize towels in the student section. And I think Mr. Brightside and Blues Brothers are the Jump Around equivalents. Otherwise I agree

10/15/2018 - 12:23pm I mean there's not a…

I mean there's not a difference between the 20 and 21, but finishing drives and scoring TDs close to the goal line is a skill and something that's not a random stat (although there may be some randomness in it). Playing in a condensed field where you don't have as much room to go deep and the defense has the back of the endzone as a defender matters. It's why Bill C has a drive finishing metric of scoring once you're inside the 40.

10/14/2018 - 1:31pm S&P looks at per play…

S&P looks at per play numbers. Army averaged 4.4 YPA passing and 4.3 YPC rushing while OU had 11 and 7.5 respectively. Army managed 21 points but had 4 drives of 15+ plays. S&P views them as lucky to have continually gotten first downs on those TD drives when only averaging 4 yards per play, since one bad play on 1st or 2nd down would normally kill the drive.

Same with Texas. OU had like a 92% post game win expectancy after that game. They killed Texas on a per play basis and Texas only won because of 2 turnovers by OU, including 1 where Kyler Murray literally placed the ball on the ground.

They dominated every other game.

Bill C used to remove pre season fully by around week 7. He changed it so that some pre season projection stays in all year long, less each week, because when looking at past years leaving in some preseason projections lead to more accurate rankings.

That was the BOB year so it wasn't that.

My guess is BISB/whoever made that stat is using the "beating a team on the road who ended the season ranked" version of the stat, not the "beat a team on the road who was ranked at the time" stat. The first is the better one to use.

Article says one of the 2 guys who will play in his place is a RS Fr former walk-on. That seems...not good

10/11/2018 - 12:09pm I wouldn't. Hudson has been…

I wouldn't. Hudson has been practicing at OL for how long now? Even if he's physically capable, how much of the playbook/technique does he have down? Putting a guy who hasn't played DL all year at DL against Wisconsin's OL sounds like a recipe for disaster. That's not even considering the fact that you risk an injury and hurting OL depth for a guy who was considered a potential key contributor coming into the year.

Mone and Marshall are good to go for sure. UMBig said Kemp should be too. Gary will be back and can potentially slide inside. You also have Jeter who's listed at 308 and was a 4 star DL prospect, and has been practicing there his entire time at Michigan. And Solomon's been practicing, even if he's not 100% any limited snaps you want to give to Hudson can probably go to Solomon.

I think the depth for Saturday will be fine. Mone is the most important DT out there, and even without Solomon/Dwumfour we have 4 DTs who can play, plus sliding Gary in if necessary or giving Solomon snaps.

10/10/2018 - 9:15pm 1) Okay? All she said is…

1) Okay? All she said is that he practiced, she's not the one predicting him playing this weekend.

2) Really? No way?!? Someone should let the coaches know! Yeah, he had surgery. Whether he comes back this week or against Penn St. that fact remains. I have no idea what the logic behind saying he can't come back this week because he had surgery 6 weeks ago is, but another 2 weeks and he's magically better.

3) We're all aware. So are the coaches. And they're letting him practice. So clearly they think he's fit to at least that point.

Agreed on the last sentence. The general fans, like me and you, know nothing. Insiders like UMBig11 do though, and have been saying this weekend is a target date for him to be back.

Cheers from Iraq!

10/10/2018 - 12:12pm There's no way this game is…

There's no way this game is even close to as important as 2016 OSU. If we win 2016 OSU, we finish the regular season 11-1 with road wins against MSU and a top 3 OSU and are one win against a Wisconsin team we had already beaten away from our first B1G title in 12 years, plus a playoff berth.

If we win this week we still have to win @MSU, vs PSU, vs Indiana and @Rutgers to be in the same position we were in in 2016.

It's delusional to think this is more important.

10/10/2018 - 10:22am Eh I could see it. Indiana…

Eh I could see it. Indiana is 55th in S&P+ and lost by 23, Minnesota is 57th. It took OSU some late, garbage time scores to even get to 23. Peyton Ramsey had one of the best games of his career against OSU's secondary. Minnesota has 3 receivers with 220+ yards and 2 averaging 14+ yards per catch, so big play threats against OSU's defense which is worst in the country at preventing big plays. Minnesota has the 16th best defense according to S&P+ nationally. They just held Iowa to 2.7 YPC rushing and have held every opponent except Maryland to 3.6 YPC or less. OSU's rushing attack has had 3.2 YPC the past 2 games so shutting down the running game is possible.

Obviously though it's Minnesota playing at OSU. They just gave up 300+ yards passing to Iowa and have an injured secondary. The only game they didn't hold an opponent to under 3.6 YPC they gave up 8+ to Maryland. They have the S&P+ #111 offense.

I think Minnesota's going to lose by a lot. But whenever the spread is that high all it takes is one garbage time score either way to cover or not cover so I'd stay away from it.

10/09/2018 - 9:58pm I think that stat's wrong…

I think that stat's wrong. Minnesota as a whole has given up 13 sacks in 5 games.

Donated. Unfortunately a broke grad student so couldn't be a ton, but donated. Good luck moving forward Ace. You've been an integral part to this site's success for 7 years and your presence will be missed. Hoping for all the best, some good luck in your recovery, and fingers crossed a future with your regular presence on this blog.

10/08/2018 - 3:48pm I mean objectively all of…

I mean objectively all of those guys are starters. It's not a come on man thing, going into game 1 every single one of those guys would have been a starter except Stewart and Nailor (who I didn't list as starters) and maybe Butler, but even he was a pretty sure thing especially when Scott went out.

10/08/2018 - 2:31pm Michigan clearly has better…

Michigan clearly has better depth but it's not the same. That's 11 starters/major MSU contributors, you listed 5 (Vilain and St. Juste would be neither). Plus 4/5 starting OL.

FYI: Bortenschlager is on the team but out for the year.

10/07/2018 - 12:41pm OSU dropped to #4 overall…

OSU dropped to #4 overall and their D dropped to #27, out of the top 25 for the first time all year. I'd also be willing to put money on that ranking being held up significantly by preseason projections.

10/07/2018 - 11:14am Interceptions I think we're…

Interceptions I think we're fairly normal/average at. We were at 4 picks going into yesterday which was tied for for like 43rd or something. 5 would be close to top 30.

Fumbles is where we're lacking. Maybe it's a form thing, but according to most advanced stats people the only correlation with turnovers is a marginal one with sack rate/havoc rate. It seems like we've probably mostly gotten unlucky on that end, like how we got insanely lucky Hoke's first year.
