And they got almost half of that in the last 5 minutes. Taking those players out also killed our offensive flow some and eliminated the transition opportunities we were getting from defensive stops

02/16/2019 - 12:49pm Always fun when you can kill…

Always fun when you can kill your own momentum and chance to put them away in the first half by sitting your two best defenders and letting them back into the game

02/15/2019 - 2:28pm We do it every year in the…

We do it every year in the other direction. How many times last year did we point out that kenpom had Michigan as a top 5 team over the last month. You can let point out good play one year over a smaller sample and ignore bad play the next.

The last month has illustrated that Michigan is in tier 2 of contenders and not a tier 1 top 5 most likely to win the championship teams

02/12/2019 - 10:33pm It would be one thing if…

It would be one thing if this was an aberration but we haven’t looked like a top 10 in a month and the offense is officially a problem.

All the scoring and spacing issues people were worried about to start the season are there and this team feels more like one ranked 10-15 with a sweet 16 or elite 8 ceiling and not really a championship contender

02/11/2019 - 9:19pm They have a top 10 kenpom…

They have a top 10 kenpom offense with multiple really good 3 point shooters, great ball movement and a 5 who can shoot from 3.  Offensively speaking they are pretty much Iowa but with a top 3 defense

02/11/2019 - 2:32pm You must not no much about…

You must not know much about the Browns

02/09/2019 - 8:43pm Anyone who has this take…

Anyone who has this take either doesn’t watch the nba or doesn’t understand basketball

Is Meghan injured? Storako started game 2 againt Zona.

02/08/2019 - 4:45pm Michigan waited months to…

Michigan waited months to submit the paperwork, slightly different.

Overall I'm glad transfer penalties seem to be dying but wouldn't have been sad if OSU was the last one to get fucked on the way out the door.

02/07/2019 - 3:23pm He struggled with his shot…

He struggled with his shot in college when facing guys more athletic than him, that is just everyone he plays now. It is what it is

02/07/2019 - 1:38pm Unfortunately Stauskas isn't…

Unfortunately Stauskas isn't a shooter in the NBA which is why he can't stick

02/06/2019 - 11:16pm He hasn’t been able to hit…

He hasn’t been able to hit the 3 in the pros

02/06/2019 - 8:30am Liked to see beilein working…

Liked to see beilein working to build depth with that early first half lead. He realized he needs a guy like johns to give 10 good minutes in some games. Would like to see a similar approach with dejulius and Nunez given the slump brooks is in

02/06/2019 - 8:28am It was great to see the…

It was great to see the offense wake up but it needs some consistency. If Michigan is a legitimate national title contender they need to get the offense back up in the the top 20 and preferably top 15. Most of the top 5 on kenpom is top 10 in both

02/05/2019 - 7:12pm It sounds like it’s a purely…

It sounds like it’s a purely academic issue, if the school allows him to remain or work to get eligible again academically it would seem pretty harsh and strange to not have the opportunity to get back on the football team.

Umbig is pretty connected and he’s been wrong before but if the academic side is giving Chris a second chance I think it would be a mistake for the football program not to. Sends a pretty weird message when criminal charges can result in just a couple of game suspension but academic misconduct immediately ends your career.

02/04/2019 - 1:15pm The staff changed…

The staff changed. Recruiting operates on a lag cycle because relationships are built up over multiple years. Michigan's first staff included guys like Wheatley and Durkin who were really good recruiters. We also had guys like Fisch, who yes came from the nfl but had extensive college football experience and track record.

As those guys left for new opportunities we brought in guys like Pep and Mcelwain and kept guys like Drevno and suddenly you had a staff that, especially on the offensive side was primarily coach first ignore recruiting track record guys. That was the staff that did most of the recruiting for this years in-state crop and last years mediocre class. Harbaugh started adjusting last year and brought in Al Washington and Sherron Moore and continued to bring in those types of guys this year and it should pay off in the coming years. But yeah we had a 1.5 window of a legitimately bad recruiting staff and stuff like this is the result.

02/04/2019 - 12:42pm Two things, was it made…

Two things, was it made clear to Amauri that there was a plan b for his entire recruiting cycle? How likely did the coaches make it seem? Did they outline it for him. Its nice to say its a plan b but if you are talking to a 17 year and saying we have an offer for you that is what they are going to believe and base their decision. At best they misled the kid, at worst they just outright lied. Either way its shitty. There is literally an article on in-state michigan kids and most of them said Michigan came across as incredibly fake in recruiting, based off this story it sounds like that might be the right descriptor for anyone who is lower on the board.

02/04/2019 - 12:31pm Harbaugh put together a…

Harbaugh put together a staff of guys from the NFL with no recruiting chops and it showed. Luckily he seems to have learned with his hires this year and Pep is the only dead weight on that front still left and hopefully the new hires have enough time to salvage the 2019 in state class.

The reality is college football is like 85-90% recruiting and 10% coaching and Harbaugh flipped around that ratio in his hiring decisions. You only get 20 hours a week with these kids and that is in-season, at the end of the day you need to have more talented players to win consistently at the highest levels.

02/04/2019 - 12:24pm It wasn't impacted at all…

It wasn't impacted at all. They get a scholarship for a semester and that is it.

It doesn't matter if it is different than a greyshirt it matters because the staff lied to the kid. If you tell someone you want them as a greyshirt and if things break right a full scholarship year one that is great and they can decide if they are willing to take that financial risk or a different school. To tell a kid they have a scholarship than pull it two days before signing day is fucking a kid over to save your own ass. Its a bad look and it should be highlighted as such.

When a school makes a scholarship offer a recruit should be able to sign that day. The offer should include outs for the kids for things like coaches getting fired or leaving and ncaa trouble while the school can back out if the kid doesn't meet grades or has a documented legal issue. Signing day isn't necessary and just offers opportunities for kids to get screwed by getting lied to.

02/02/2019 - 12:25am I disagree you can just say…

I disagree you can just say vagaries of the road. The offense is a problem

Edit to add problem is relative, they are obviously still a good team but it’s about what it takes to win a championship. I just don’t know how this team scores enough to beat a Virginia or a duke, or even a Gonzaga or Tennessee. Even as an elite defensive team you are going to need to score more than 65 to win it all

02/01/2019 - 7:42pm They are rattled by Iowa’s…

They are rattled by Iowa’s offense and rushing shots on offense. We aren’t a prolific offense and can’t get into a track meet

02/01/2019 - 7:39pm Missing wide open jumpers…

Missing wide open jumpers isn’t helpful but would be nice if we had livers and Teske playing instead of Davis

02/01/2019 - 7:32pm Play your fucking best…

Play your fucking best players Jesus Christ. Points count the same in the first half as they do in the second half

02/01/2019 - 7:25pm So teske just fouled out of…

So teske just fouled out of this first half, great. Hope they don’t score too much for us to come back

Looks like we landed on all misses in the simpson 3 point roulette

02/01/2019 - 7:20pm If you don’t play your guys…

If you don’t play your guys it’s like they fouled out anyways

02/01/2019 - 7:12pm They are just calling it…

They are just calling it really tight, it’s not favoring one team but it hurts us because we play defense a lot tighter

Also love Iggy but dude needs to learn you can pass on a drive

02/01/2019 - 7:09pm Beilein is a wizard but has…

Beilein is a wizard but has two terrible traits. One is an inability to have successfull inbounds plays and the other is his foul rotation strategy. Sitting both teske and Poole in the first 2 minutes with 1 fouls is nuts

02/01/2019 - 5:41pm If there is a lot of smoke…

If there is a lot of smoke probably. Might get lucky and have it just be a suspension

02/01/2019 - 5:04pm Only if you have no idea…

Only if you have no idea what you are talking about. Multiple 5 stars on that team.

02/01/2019 - 3:08pm Is your goal to win titles…

Is your goal to win titles or win lots of games? How many teams have won a national championship without a top 20 5 star recruit?

01/28/2019 - 10:08pm Michigan can afford the…

Michigan can afford the buyout. You only get 10 coaching spots. Wasting one on a shitty recruiting mediocre qb coach is a worse waste of resources than paying the buyout.

01/28/2019 - 2:40pm Its 100% systematic at every…

Its 100% systematic at every p5 school. You think guys are just putting on 15-20 pounds of muscle over spring and summer practices because they are eating healthy?

The NCAA doesn't test for PED's on a regular basis, its internal school testing and schools get to set their own policies in terms of punisment. Players hear about "random" tests weeks in advance and they never test in the summer when most of the guys are bulking and then they will go clean for a lot of the season. Shit tons of high schoolers are juicing. Its just part of the sport. Since everyone does it nobody is getting the benefit of it.

01/28/2019 - 2:23pm Unless you were growing up…

Unless you were growing up in like 1940 this is bullshit.

Teams cheated, paid players, and did everything else they are doing in the 60s 70s 80s and 90s too. Stop romanticizing the past.

01/28/2019 - 2:22pm Just like paying recruits…

Just like paying recruits and cheating in recruiting, if you don't think some Michigan players are taking PED's I've got some bad news for you. Its not about who is doing it, its about who gets caught.

01/28/2019 - 1:23pm Duke has a much higher sos…

Duke has a much higher sos and more quality wins. Looking just at losses is a dumb way to rank teams.

01/28/2019 - 9:26am I mean he built his model by…

I mean he built his model by looking at thousands of games and seeing how changing weights impacts its ability to work. He doesn't really care what you think is being overrated. If sos is weighted heavily its because historically playing well against good teams, whether you win or lose a close game, is a better predictor of future team performance than beating a bad team easily.

MSU has 9 tier 1 wins, we have 4. It is pretty clear that msu has played a more challenging schedule to this point.

01/27/2019 - 9:18pm UFC isn't even remotely…

UFC isn't even remotely close to boxing when it was at its height of popularity. UFC has siphoned off some of ultra violence loving fans but that isn't actually that big of a fanbase and its ratings have actually been falling the last couple of years.

01/23/2019 - 4:41pm I think the offensive…

I think the offensive problem is a lack of confidence in perimeter shots. When guys are driving and kicking the shooters have been hesitant to take the open 3 and instead drive or pass, this leads to bad late clock jumpers. Its also leads to forced shots at the rim as the only guys willing to create their own shot are the slashers and without the consistent perimeter threat its tough to drive.

This offense needs Poole to be its creator and highest usage player, that is the only way its a top 20 offense which it needs to be for Michigan to get back into the elite, probably has to get closer to 10 than 20 if we want to win a championship.

01/22/2019 - 9:43pm Nobody on the team is a pure…

Nobody on the team is a pure scorer and we don’t have a bench for when a couple guys are off. This is where failing to blow out teams is biting us because those guys never got to develop and it’s going to stunt our development this year. I’d honestly take some losses now to get those guys experience for a tourney run, not going to beat MSU for the conference

01/22/2019 - 8:59pm Also our offense is so…

Also our offense is so broken, Jesus

01/22/2019 - 8:58pm They are looking at if it’s…

They are looking at if it’s a shot clock violation, these announcers are so stupid

01/21/2019 - 2:40pm Their second best player was…

Their second best player was out injured against unc

01/20/2019 - 5:09pm Also both these teams have…

Also both these teams have great running backs that they utilized a ton and still have fun open offenses. Weird you can do both

01/20/2019 - 5:05pm Sean Payton is an asshole…

Sean Payton is an asshole who somehow escaped a scandal of paying players to injure guys and the saints are pretty much OSU in the nfl. No thanks on that.

01/19/2019 - 2:12pm Wisconsin lost to Purdue and…

Wisconsin lost to Purdue and Minnesota at home and 4 of 5. They’ve scored under 20 points in multiple halves of basketball. They aren’t good

01/19/2019 - 2:04pm It wasn’t a terrible call,…

It wasn’t a terrible call, Iggy slapped down on happs arms at the halfcourt line. They weren’t fighting for position, he wasn’t setting a screen there is zero reason for Iggy to be making contact with him there other than an intentional foul

01/19/2019 - 2:02pm It’s not about losing or not…

It’s not about losing or not losing. It’s about the issues and the things that have been an undercurrent all season. The teams offense isn’t consistent enough to feel good against top teams

01/19/2019 - 2:01pm Yeah in a game where they…

Yeah in a game where they lost their go in the first half and another of their starters was out with sickness. And they still put up 90 points
