Was going to say this myself... Just because Ward is an asshole with an injury doesn't mean MSU should move down. Now, if they start losing because they're missing out on some of the assholey play they rely on, then they should drop in the poles for losing.
Seriously, would you expect some other team to go to the Rose Bowl if the league champion's QB got injured in the Championship game?

He is a Grade A asshole, yes. But there are no reports - ZERO REPORTS - that he abused, assaulted, or otherwise talked meanly to any women. So assigning him that blame is complete bullshit. We wouldn't stand for that if a women accused us of it, nor should we stand for men falsely associating others. Have an issue with the players all you want, just make sure its for a valid reason.
Personally, I feel bad for most players that get injured out of games. Ward is part of the 'most', in this case. He's an asshole, but I wanted him to get posterized by Teske...
|02/17/2019 - 8:36am||The disgusting thing about…||
The disgusting thing about freak athletes in professional sports is that its not the athleticism that sets them apart from their peers - its the mental part of the game. At the pro level, and to some degree the top of P5, the mental ability of these guys to think the game is off the charts. You know why Z can dominate a game at 5'9", with no discernable athleticism relative to others on the court? Because he can think it better than everyone else on the court. He sees it happening three steps before anyone else. That's why he destroys Cassius Winston, who has significantly better athleticism that Z can ever hope for.
Every single NFL QB, even the backups, can 'make all the throws'. It's the ones that can put aside the distractions to see a play and put the ball where it needs to be, that sets them apart. Nobody will confuse Brady's arm for Jeff George's arm. But who would you rather have QB'ing your team?

Sounds like a good inbounds play, to me... Look, I don't care if Rutger ever wins another game in the B1G - they are a disgrace to the league. But to come back and get the lead, just to lose it on a lucky play at the buzzer, sucks. Doesn't matter who you are*, it just sucks.
(* - Yes it does. If that happens to OSU or MSU I'm gonna laugh with mirthful glee the rest of the week...)

Cesar Ruiz would be my leading candidate for NFL stardom. Dude was a helluva upgrade at OC as a raw sophomore last season. It's going to be real fun watching him the next couple of years!
The WR group has the next candidates on my list - DPJ, Black, and Collins. I think all three will see some valuable PT in the NFL. Also both Lavert Hill and David Long will be prominent CB's wherever they're drafted. I also look forward to seeing a LB playing that well...
|02/16/2019 - 6:55pm||Bush is a ready made stud,…||
Bush is a ready made stud, but my money says that Gary will get moved inside and absolutely OWN the interior of the line. I'm actually surprised - and somewhat disappointed - that he wasn't moved inside last year. He never blossomed as an outside rusher, but it was always there. Inside, that athleticism will shine through. He'll clog up the middle run or pass, and hit the QB more often than not.
I do wonder why he wasn't moved inside - was it his decision, or did the DL coach not figure it out?

|02/15/2019 - 9:28pm||Do you know that happened? …||
Do you know that happened? The agreement was sealed and there is only rumor about a settlement number. Collusion is notably difficult to prove, yet the NFL settled - so there was enough there to make a trial an ugly affair to the NFL. And perhaps (most likely) more expensive to Kaep than worth the risk given any particular offer on the table. Maybe the NFL just kept coughing up more money to get out of a trial? Everybody has a price...
You clearly hate everything about him, which is fine. I only talked about the protest method - which I still believe to be the best I've ever heard of.
|02/15/2019 - 9:08pm||He's still protesting his…||
He's still protesting his cause. The suit that was settled was against the NFL for collusion to keep him out of the league. That has nothing to do with protesting a cause, even if it was because of said protest. The simple fact that players still do it should show you the difference... If you don't know the difference (and you apparently don't) you should do some reading.
|02/15/2019 - 8:54pm||Good for Kap and Reid. As a…||
Good for Kaep and Reid. As a white guy, I have zero experience with the cause they were protesting and will withhold comment - I have nothing of relevance to add. However, the method of protest was/is a thing of beauty. The people that whine about it, that say it denigrates the flag, or the military, are out of touch with reality and running on strict adherence to ideology alone (much like most of politics, anymore).
Peaceful protest, as outlined in the Constitution, is used to bring attention to a cause. Kneeling during the anthem brings attention to him, and thus to his cause. Which is the only reason he does it - attention to his cause. If you read anything into it other than that, you're making it about you - and that's a problem with you.
As a Navy veteran with 29 years as a civilian supporting the Intel Community, I believe this was a brilliant way to bring attention to his cause. It worked incredibly well, disrupted absolutely nothing, and was performed within Constitutional rights and laws throughout the country. If anyone has ever had a better protest method, I'd like to hear about it...

Being non-medically natured, I googled whatever an Orgo II is. The answer:
" A term for "organic chemistry" that stuck up rich ass east coast students use because apparently the east coast is too good for conventional usage of abbreviations. Many east coast students like to call it a " weeder " class for premed students, but on the west coast, pre-med students know better than to be discouraged by a single class, so such a trend does not exist."

|02/13/2019 - 11:41am||The reason his 3PA shots…||
The reason his 3PA shots seem broken directly relates to the type of shots he's attempting. Last night, at least four of his 3-pointers were absolute horrible decisions. Take just the two that helped turn a 4-pt deficit (and dwindling, with momentum) into a 9-pt deficit. He was closely guarded, even doubled, for both. Yet he took a couple of steps and flew into the air heaving the ball while unbalanced, not set, and still closely guarded (inches). Both shots were incredibly early in the possession (first pass, I think), and they just ruined the flow of the game at that point - which was trending in M's favor.
I'll die on this hill: Poole cost the game last night on those two shots because he had to make it about himself. Kid needs to mature before he'll ever be a consistent threat on the court.
|02/13/2019 - 8:37am||Or maybe they're just…||
Or maybe they're just dragging themselves through the regular season against the dregs? They played pretty well against Wisconsin Saturday, and beat the living shit out of IU a couple weeks ago. I'll bet they bring some attention to the MSU games in the near future.
I agree that coasting through some mid-season slack is not a good look, nor does it create an edge for the NCAA tunamelt*.
(*tunamelt - one of the all-time great spell checks!)
|02/13/2019 - 8:18am||They ran out of petrol when…||
They ran out of petrol when Poole decided to make it about himself with two hero ball evasive heaves in a row. That turned a run (and a quickly dwindling lead) into a 9 point deficit and sent momentum right back to Ped St.
I love Poole's relentless swagger and willingness to shoot, but he has to learn when to throw it up. Those two desperate heaves were so far out of line of the offensive flow that even my wife noticed it ("why did he do that?"), and she can't spell basketball! I'll side with Beilein in wondering what the hell those shots were!
The bright side for Poole - he's a true sophomore and still has time to grow. He'll get the time and space he needs to continue improving - but until he's a little more mature he'll continue to be a liability in games like last night, when he's not shooting well in a tight game.

Haa!! Nothing will come of this, nothing at all. The outright buying of players has been proven in both football and basketball, and Emmert says 'this is fine'. A racial slur is thrown at a player, and its cause for immediate transfer outside of every rule about transfers in the history of ever. Fake classes, so totally fake that they don't literally exist, is no cause for punishment.
Why? Because the schools involved stood up to the NCAA and said 'we are fine and there's nothing you can do'.
Michigan stretched for a few minutes. Know why we got hit hard? We went running scared to the NCAA and groveled until we were blue in the face begging for mercy.
The NCAA is a travesty of bullshit... They won't even look at Clemson because Dabo is a fun, engaging personality. I've got money that Harbaugh gets pilloried from the press and NCAA if he ever "mistakenly" dopes up his team.

|02/08/2019 - 1:04pm||I think he was more dynamic…||
I think he was more dynamic as a runner from the QB position because he could use the threat of a handoff, pitch, or throw to back off defenders. All he needed was an inch, and 'real' RB's don't get that inch unless a blocker makes it for them because everyone knows the RB is running with the ball. I think that is one of the reasons that plays into what you said about not being able to avoid contact. As the QB, he had play fakes and option tells he could employ to avoid the big hit near the LoS. Once in the open field, all bets were off on him taking a big hit.
