OT: Wrestlemania weekend

Submitted by jimmyshi03 on April 6th, 2018 at 7:11 PM

Sunday's show promises to be approximately 7 hours, with some really interesting questions about how certain matches are going to go (perhaps less so with regard to results than with the reception of the match).

Saturday looks like a lot more fun, with two events (TakeOver and Supercard of Honor) promising to be both shorter and probably more fun.

Anything you all are looking forward to?

This is on paper one of the best Manias in recent memory, but we'll see if WWE manages to continue to demonstrate a stunning ability to not get out of their own way.  Most hype for Nakamura/AJ and the IC title match, but the whole card is really good.  Really excited for Takeover too, especially the ladder match, I love Richochet.

My concern would be they go with Brock-Reigns last, and that they're booed out of the building because it's clear Brock's heading for the exit and Reigns is, well, Reigns. They were able to save Wrestlemania 20 because they had the feel-good ending in the bag. Maybe they go with a Styles-Nakamura main to offset that.

I was way into the entertainment in the Rock, Stone Cold, Rick Flair etc era. But the current crop of wrestlers to me seriously lack the charisma that those guys had in spades. Not to mention that when the WWE started testing for steroids, the result was much smaller wrestlers who lack the "superhero" aspect of some of the classic guys. Better health but less amazing size. I check in every few months and none of the guys now seem to have that personaility of the classic guys. Old man comments I suppose.

I understand how the crowd goes dead for some pretty good matches.

Agree with Gr1mlock. This is a really good card on paper and I think they usually deliver at Wrestlemania. The Smackdown half of the card is particularly strong.

They'll probably run the longest of any of the matches, maybe along with the IC match.

Of course, Nakamura - Styles is the obvious match of the night. Good call on Gargano - Ciampa. Owens & Zahn vs Bryan & Shane, Asuka - Charlotte are ones I'm looking forward to too. The sleeper for me is the NXT tag match. Had to make it a 3 way with AOP, but I've been very impressed with Pete Dunne.

It's going to be a marathon of a show.  I'll probably have to finish watching it on Monday.  Hopefully it won't impact the quality of the matches.  Asuka/Flair should be good.

I once saw King Kong bundy vs 10 50# midgets (all in the ring at the same time) in a match billed as ‘500 v 500’ at cobo arena. Bundy beat them each unconscious one at a time, then swept them all into a single neat pile in the center of the ring , then climbed the ropes and splashed the pile FTW

All my teams lost this week now I get to watch the greatest pro wrestler ever drop the title to Roman so he can go back and get smashed in the UFC. I can’t win.

Even though it means Mania is over I always really enjoy the RAW after ‘Mania.
Interested to see how they progress Taker/Cena and any surprise returns (ex. Braun’s tag team partner).

On Big Time Wrestling every week. Today's "sports entertainment" is tame by comparison, although it's a much-quicker pace now. As already mentioned, Styles-Nakamura and Asuka-Flair should both be good, plus the crowd will pop huge for Daniel Bryan.
