People say he wasn't a big deal for fans to get worked up about, but he seemed like a lower risk option than what Michigan is dealing with. I'll chalk it up to a Drevno transition cost.

Yeah...sumpn wasn't working with Drevno.  I listened to Sam's interview yesterday and Calvin Anderson seemed like a really bright kid with his head screwed on right. We will have to make do with what we have.  I'm sure hoping that Shea is able to play as I'm not convinced that Peters will take us to the promised land.  Perhaps if he weren't about to get killed on every play, things would improve, but Harbaugh was not in a hurry to put him in after Speight was injured.

Young and inexperienced, sure. But very talented.
JBB, Ulizio, and Runyan are known quantities with another summer to improve.
Filiaga, Hudson, Honigford, and Steuber are coming off redshirts. I don't think its likely that zero of those guys are ready to contribute.
Add in a coaching staff shakeup, and the proverbial light bulb is going to switch on for a couple of these guys. They'll be alright.

At some point we either coach the recruits we have...or suffer long term cost. If I am Joe stud recruit but know Michigan is going to pick up a grad transfer rather than play...I'm going elsewhere. If it's truly a meritocracy...better give me a chance to earn it or we will never win a recruit and depend on scraps that don't pan out...look Ruddock was a gift...take that for what it's worth

Definition of asterisk

the character * used in printing or writing as a reference mark, as an indication of the omission of letters or words, to denote a hypothetical or unattested linguistic form, or for various arbitrary meanings
2the character * thought of as being appended to something (such as an athletic accomplishment included in a record book) typically in order to indicate that there is a limiting fact or consideration which makes that thing less important or impressive than it would otherwise be

  • But the men's triumph came with an asterisk: The Soviets, three-time gold medalists, had boycotted the Games.

Any speculation or rumors on other graduate transfers?  If I remember correctly, there were some murmurs about a possible transfer from an SEC school.

Seemed like a smart kid in the Sam Webb interview, but a little strange that he insisted on making a point that proximity “had zero to do with his decision making process.” And he “couldn’t believe he had to keep answering that question.” Then he goes to Texas? Just weird, and further proof you can’t believe a word these kids say.

Both had good credentials coming to UM.  And, Bosch, Fox, Kalis, Kugler, Dawson, LTT, etc. were all great prospect that never panned out.  For whatever reason OL has been our achilles heel despite a bunch of quality prospects and coaches.  I think a lot of folks want to believe that and at times do, but have just seen too many disapointments.
