Talking Tigers Tuesday

Talking Tigers Tuesday

Mates,

Spring is at least slightly in the air and enough snow has melted up here that the ground is peaking through in a few places.   The Tigers are riding a 5 game losing streak in Spring ball, sitting at 11-12.  That record doesn't mean much, but hopefully its at least indicative of a heart beat.   I do remember about 15 yrs ago when the Tigers posted one of the best Spring records and ended up with over 100 losses in the regular season.   I have copied the roster down below, but its not updated for injuries.

So today's questions are:

Here's the link to the live stream of the game tonight:

I know many of you will be watching another game, but you can always double up: basketball on the telly and baseball on the laptop/tablet.

Title says it all. Wanted to gauge if there'd be interest in a league if I started one. Could do daily, or weekly so that you don't have to spend half of every morning looking at pitcher matchups.

Just state your interest, and if it looks like we'd have a quorum, I'll set up a league next week and post open sign-ups.

Michigan Baseball off to Great Start (Ranked #17)

Michigan Baseball off to Great Start (Ranked #17)

It's still very early in the season and we are also in the midst of a great basketball season (Despite the loss yesterday, it is still a great season), but we should recognize the job Erik Bakich is doing with our baseball program.

They are ranked #17 coming off of a 6-0 start while outscoring opponents 44-10. Next week, the competition heats up as they head out west to play #19 Oklahoma State and #4 UCLA. It will be interesting to see how they handle the trip, but the team is definitely in a good place.

The #17-ranked Michigan baseball team went to Charleston, S.C., this weekend and came home with a 3-game sweep of The Citadel.

The top performance for Michigan was the Friday win by pitcher Tommy Henry, a Junior from Portage Northern HS.  Henry pitched a complete game 1-hitter, faced the minimum 27 batters (after the single hitter was erased on a caught stealing), and struck out 13.  The amazing thing is that he did this all with only 88 pitches.

As we wait with bated breath to see if Pep Hamilton will land an XFL coaching gig, I thought I would create some warm-weather vibes by asking a quick baseball question.

I'm considering heading down to Florida for a few days next month to check out Tigers spring training, and I was wondering if anyone has made the trip and had any advice on must-see things with the Tigers' practices/games, or anything in the Lakeland area.  Thanks!
