Meh. Black was cool for a couple teams four about 4 seconds in the 90s.

Let me be clear on this…

Let me be clear on this issue: for a free website which I love and visit almost daily, it sure has some strange-ass bugs.

He may no longer be ours,…

He may no longer be ours, but it's good to know he's still out there.

"The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners."

Stayed in Detroit where we…

Stayed in Detroit where we had 99% totality. It's amazing that even just 1% of the sun can produce a LOT of light. I'd say the amount of light never dropped below 50% at any time.

Great if we can get a couple…

Great if we can get a couple FAU guys, but if I'm looking at it from their point of view, Michigan does not look like the best option. If I have one year left and have a chance to play for a big time program that has a chance to go deep next year, this is not that place. Michigan can offer starters minutes, for sure, but so can other programs that are in win-mode right now.

I respectfully disagree that…

I respectfully disagree that WR are somewhat extraneous. It's kind of like homeowners insurance, even if most of the time you don't even know it's there, when you need it, YOU NEED IT. You may not have to field a battalion of 5-stars (ahem, look where it's gotten some of those guys), but you need at least 1-2 gamebreaking WR even if your offense is run-heavy and built up from the trenches.

And yes, we also rely heavily on great tight end play, which is fantastic. But you still need a couple guys outside who terrify a defense. To wit, the catch Roman Wilson made last year in the Alabama game. If he is not there to make a spectacular play, that game and the NC is likely lost.

That was back when half the…

That was back when half the Big Ten coaches looked like the local State Farm rep, and the other half like the crooked head of the Galena, Illinois Chamber of Commerce. The jackets/pants combos were epic.

Ask again later.

Ask again later.

I thought the hook shot was…

I thought the hook shot was bold. This is even more so.

Probably a long shot but any…

Probably a long shot but any chance Beilein suggests bringing back Yaklich, who I believe was just let go from his head coaching gig?

And Eli Brooks.

And Eli Brooks.

Not entirely sure this is…

Not entirely sure this is what Maslow had in mind but I've long felt that Jim Harbaugh has achieved self-actualization.

After they lost, I said that…

After they lost, I said that might be Izzo's last game. Figuring the same things that pushed out guys like Beilein and Nick Saban would push Tom to withdraw. But I don't think so. He really does enjoy the spotlight and the attention and I think he's more likely to go too long and be semi forced out.

It's a controversial choice,…

It's a controversial choice, but anything can happen if we BELIEVE.

Harbaugh's prediction that…

Harbaugh's prediction that JJ goes #1 is starting to look realistic. Reports were that Caleb Williams did not look good. Although that puts him the same division as the Lions. The Commanders suck, hope he doesn't go there. There would be a certain symmetry if he went to the Patriots.

Also love that brand on his workout gear. He'll do well with that.

Might be kicking himself he…

Might be kicking himself he pushed off that $700 million.

Likewise, estate sales…

Likewise, estate sales. Great way for people starting out to put together a kitchen, with whole sets of flatware and china often available for cheap, especially if you go in the last few hours of the last day when everything goes to 50% off. I live in a nice area and the estate sales can be fruitful.

My hack: I go straight to the garage and look for tools. I can get a shovel for $5 that would cost me $30 in the hardware store. Also yard art, statues, flower pots. My God, what they charge retail for flower pots at English Gardens is criminal.

In the Harbaugh household…

In the Harbaugh household she's referred to as "the Head Coach."

...sewing his children's…

...sewing his children's clothes...

I knew we had to expect it,…

I knew we had to expect it, but damn, it's astonishing how quickly this thing cratered to absolute zero so quickly. Of course, with the triple whammy of one-and-done talents, immediate transfers and NIL, this will always be looming over every program. At some point we'll see a team go from natty to an armagedon-level cratering like this within three years.

There's no use pining for the old days when these kids were indentured servants, but I pine for the old days, sort of.

You want to know how you're…

You want to know how you're an idiot? When you think that the guy who runs Tesla and SpaceX is an idiot. But, but..."if internet stories are to be believed." Sorry if he makes you feel smaller.

Job security move? Sherrone…

Job security move? Sherrone's just getting started here and Day will be out if the cooler poopers lose to Michigan again.

Best comp I've heard yet…

Best comp I've heard yet. They can both throw on the run, too.

1.  What is your favorite…

1.  What is your favorite James Bond movie? Skyfall. Recency bias and all, but Daniel Craig is the second best Bond (if you have to ask who's first, you're already losing), it's tougher to choose from all the Connery films. Goldfinger is likely runner up.

2.  Who (or what) is your favorite Super Hero? Ironman. I was never much of a comic book guy, so I base this solely on the Marvel movies and the superb performance by Robert Downey Jr. He elevates the role to a real character and not just a cartoon.

3.  Related to question 2, above, who (or what) is your favorite villain? Stanley Kowalski. I tried to think of reprehensible characters who you somehow find yourself rooting for. Marlon Brando's portrayal was so intense and magnetic that you find yourself drawn to him despite his brutish ways.

4.  True or False:  True. Since my philosophy has evolved to where I see that the world is but a flash of light against the backdrop of eternity, you may as well stop worrying, get living, and otherwise turn yourself about.

Yes, that's true! Probie was…

Yes, that's true! Probie was a pretty good hockey player, too. Great hands around the net.

I'm sure there were some…

I'm sure there were some fearsome fighters before Probert's time, but it's hard to believe that anyone was ever better. His era was likely the peak of the enforcer role and Probert was rarely if ever bested. A few guys gave him a good workout, but I don't ever recall him losing a fight outright. He had size, reach, leverage, and big hands, and he threw punches from the bottom of his shoes. He didn't mind getting hit, either. Just a straight up brawler. He's got the Belt, all time.

Some journalists are better…

Some journalists are better than others, but overall the adage remains true that you tend to believe any newspaper article except those that you actually have first-hand knowledge of. Most "news" is filled with errors, omissions and hyperbole--usually from laziness and/or the need to make the item more salacious and interesting to readers who thirst for such.

I'm buying all the "Ronnie…

I'm buying all the "Ronnie Bell but tall" smoke that you're selling.

I've been following some of…

I've been following some of these recent attempts by various countries to land a craft on the moon. Many of them have been unsuccessful. My overriding thought is that not only did a bunch of brush-cut, short-sleeve-wearing, slide rule dorks put multiple modules on the moon 50 FREAKING YEARS AGO, but they did it with men inside, and the men got out and walked around up there!

I seem to remember watching…

I seem to remember watching the game live in Detroit because we could grab the CBC feed with the rabbit ears from Windsor. Anyone else recall that? Did the CBC carry the game live?

We have a truly glorious…

We have a truly glorious opportunity here. The panicked delusion coming from Columbus is something that scientists can study for years if we can stretch this win streak to five, six or seven games. When there is no outlet for this kind of crazy, and all it can do is continue to stew upon itself for months and months on end, the results can go in a number of explosive directions. And I am popping the popcorn for it.

Yes, I'm about 20% into this…

Yes, I'm about 20% into this glorious podcast and they just brought up Freddie P Soft. Jim gave a  description, "about 4 inches tall, with a plume in his hat..."

Okay, but aside from the…

Okay, but aside from the Aquaduct, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Coaches under enormous…

Coaches under enormous pressure + mercenary players who are soft = recipe for disaster.

I concur. I think he's…

I concur. I think he's saying "I'll coach Michigan until I get an ideal NFL job." And I think if you're Michigan you take that deal and know this is going to happen every year. He's worth it.

I like the Gardner…

I like the Gardner comparison a lot, even the short-arm throwing motion. Similar athleticism.

Pink suit = New Money.

Pink suit = New Money.

Can't believe they would not…

Can't believe they would not have offered to move him back to WR given the lack of depth and not wanting to lose a guy with his athleticism. It may be that he likes CB and doesn't see a path to the field here.

I wish the young man nothing…

I wish the young man nothing but the best, but going from Team 144 to the Ole Miss locker room is going to be the culture shock of his life.

Where I come from we call it…

Where I come from we call it "Oggsford."

He's shown plenty of tape…

He's shown plenty of tape and I believe he'll be drafted higher than most people think. He might be a guard at the next level. The dude is strong and moves people.

(No subject)

Every player who spoke was…

Every player who spoke was poised and polished, and also funny. Jim started out pretty slow because he was reading a speech as opposed to going off cuff, which he's better at. But then he brings it home by quoting the "St. Crispian's Day" speech from Henry the 5th by heart, and with a bit of theatricality to it. I'm not the sentimental type but it gave me chills.

Well, even before Clemons…

Well, even before Clemons left I felt like we need help at wide receiver, and a bigger guy with experience would be really nice. The Indiana kid would have been perfect but he's going back to the Hoosiers. It's a tough sell because there are not a lot of balls to go around.

I really want Jim to come…

I really want Jim to come back because he's been great for Michigan football and college football in general.

But I will also completely revel in joy at how devastating this would be for certain other programs and their fanbases--namely OSU, Sparty and Penn State. He terrifies them.

Looks like Ann Arbor is set…

Looks like Ann Arbor is set to get about 3 -5 inches of snow on Friday night, but that should be done by 4 on Saturday. Temps in the 20s and also windy, so yeah, it's going to be a little chilly out on the parade route. But screw all that. Bundle up and show up! This is Michigan fergodsakes!

The late night guys are so…

The late night guys are so bad. Unfunny, just trying to win a popularity contest. Comedians are supposed to be the court jesters, sticking it to the king. These guys are so Establishment it's nauseating to watch. Sucking up to their masters. The biggest downfall of all, though, has been Howard Stern. What a suckup shrew. He's like a scolding old woman.

Proof that there is a God,…

Proof that there is a God, part one million, is that this kid didn't have to go through life as the guy who gave up the game winning TD in the Rose Bowl. He saved us all, and especially himself, by pulling it together there. I hope he goes somewhere he can start and play all season next year.

The reasons for Jim to head…

The reasons for Jim to head back to the NFL are numerous and obvious.

However, I think the biggest factor for him staying is being overlooked: his family. He lives next door to his parents and his kids' grandparents. Jack and Jackie aren't getting any younger, though they do look to be in remarkable shape. It must be so satisfying to have that family closeness 24/7. His younger kids are all still in school and entrenched in the community, have friends, etc. It would be tough to uproot them. JH is such a family man, I know that all of this has got to weigh heavy on him, easily as much as his competitive fire seeks a new challenge.

I would be more surprised if he stays, at this point, but not entirely.

Doesn't apply to just last…

Doesn't apply to just last night, but I'd love to see this JH quote on a shirt:

"Play as long as you can. Coach as long as you can. Then die."
