Lot's to unpack here, but…

Lots to unpack here, but congrats to your in-laws!

I think that's the thing…

I think that's the thing with these long breaks prior to the semi final games and a main reason why they are so often blowouts. Give teams 4 weeks to prepare for a single game, and the more talented team will almost always win. You can no longer catch a team off guard with scheme they haven't prepared for. Just a thought.

Let's stay away from the kid…

Let's stay away from the kid's integrity in situations like this. In modern college athletics, I don't think it's appropriate to take shots at kids or their families for taking money if it's offered to them. Many come from nothing and see all of their peers also taking large paychecks to play in a sport that makes millions off of them.

I have to ask, have you…

I have to ask, have you watched Baylor? I don't mean for that to come off as snarky, but I feel like a lot of the opinions about Baylor being overrated are due to them not being a traditional power. The truth is, they are very, very good. Butler will be a deserved first team All-American, they then add in 3 other veteran guards who all could go off at any time, and then fill in with 3 or 4 big guys who defend every possession like their life depended on it.

I'm not saying they are clearly better than Michigan or Gonzaga, the truth is all of these teams can beat each other on any night. But saying that it is "stupid" to put them on a level better than Gonzaga is misguided. I think there is a valid argument to be made if people wanted to go that way.

For your own sanity, that…

For your own sanity, that switch should have taken place in 2013. Far more enjoyable on this side of the fence.

I'm not sure this is…

I'm not sure this is necessarily true. A study would have to be done (and likely will), but I feel as though the adjusted protocols on the NFL level has definitely lead to more severe injuries this season. I assume the same will occur for the B1G. After spending years working to perfect a schedule in camp to best prepare teams for the season, a change to that either due to scheduling or protocols could lead to the players' bodies being unprepared for games, even if there are fewer of them.

This is one of my favorite…

This is one of my favorite comments i've seen on this site. The imagery is fantastic. Bravo.

Robinson and Johnson are no…

Robinson and Johnson are no brainers. Not nearly as much of a split in Pittsburgh as you stated. Diontae has over a 30% target share and is likely the 1 to JuJu's 1a. But yes, I think it's still the 3 WR's. They are the #3, #13, and #16 leaders in targets over the first two weeks. Much rather have all of them than Kelley who on his best day is still in an even time share.

I believe it has to do with…

I believe it has to do with Wisconsin and Maryland. If they are requiring 21 days from a positive test, that would mean they would only have 10 days to get ready for a season opener on 10/17. And that's assuming that their last positive test would be today, which I'm not sure is the case.

The FOMO thing is…

The FOMO thing is interesting. Instagram is the worst for this reason but not because the FOMO is warranted but because Instagram is nothing but a highlight reel of people's lives and it sucks. Everyone posts their best moments so it makes it seem like you aren't doing anything with your life even though no one posts about their shitty, lazy, or just plain uneventful days. I don't know a fix for this phenomenon, but certainly wish it wasn't the case.

That's all fine and dandy in…

That's all fine and dandy in many cases - the "do what makes you happy" stance, but when it comes to a pandemic, it's simply not. Based on my observations (which is in no way factual or all inclusive, though I feel generally encompasses the majority of reasons for people not wearing masks), it seems that people who are not wearing masks are doing so because: they feel their freedoms are being taken from them (which is just ridiculous), because it is recommended by the other political party than the one they consider themselves a part of, because they are generally a contrarian, or because it is uncomfortable. Not a single one of these reasons is justifiable if them choosing not to wear a mask infects even just one person.

A very sad part of this whole ordeal is that people won't end up knowing how much harm they as an individual have caused by their actions and will continue to act as selfish as ever in the future.

What is the intelligent…

What is the intelligent point that is being made though? Has there been any point that shows wearing masks are a bad idea? Going through "J"'s posts, the points he has tried to make are:

- "Just stay home".

- Since the virus hasn't been completely eradicated, the masks clearly aren't working

- "The 6 foot barrier is more effective"

- Masks make people feel like they can abandon social distancing guidelines

To me, this just seems like changing the point of discussion to try and make unsupported arguments seem better. Of course staying home is more effective, but that's not possible for most people. Of course the 6 foot barrier is more effective but that doesn't mean they are mutually exclusive. Social distancing/Wearing masks is certainly more effective than just social distancing on it's own (although you could debate the added benefits would be minimal). The eradication argument is simply silly and not at all worth responding to based on recent evidence showing that wearing masks is effective.

The only point that isn't simply changing the argument is about people ignoring social distancing measure because they are wearing a mask. I personally have not seen this in any regard but don't have any evidence to refute it but I highly doubt this statement is based on anything but speculation and one-off experiences.

Regardless, it's not cool to speak to anyone with the tone of "fucking fuckity-fuck prick ass bitch Republican who needs to die". But it is certainly reasonable to call out selfishness if actions warrant it, and I have yet to see an argument presented that shows not wearing masks in close quartered spaces is anything but selfish.

I guess I don't understand…

I guess I don't understand the adamant nature of people refusing to wear masks. If you are able to stay home and not have to expose yourself in public, then great. You are certainly doing the right thing by refusing to go anywhere. Unfortunately, that isn't the reality for others and medical professionals everywhere are recommending wearing masks to help deter the spread. Is wearing a mask going to eradicate this disease? Of course not. I actually think the only people who claim that masks are "magic" are those who are against wearing them, but by almost all accounts: wearing a mask is helping slow the spread and doing good for our societies while simultaneously doing absolutely nothing to harm you.

People who are refusing to wear masks aren't improving their lives in any substantial manner, yet are sacrificing all potential benefits that professionals think can be gained. It's worse than just normal selfishness because there aren't even benefits to be gained.

But why not? I think college…

But why not? I think college basketball is past the point of having evened out classes for 4 years. There is too much turnover. Give me a shot of a young prospect. He may be a bit of an unknown , but knowing that he will either contribute or transfer in 2 years is more appealing than a mid-major grad transfer (who if he is good enough, we will likely be able to find room for him anyway) in my opinion.

Yes, but without the…

Yes, but without the connection to any massive enterprise. There is a big difference between an individual like Walton and a kid who goes straight from high school. Walton spent 4 years at a major university (even getting his degree) so that playing and training in the G-league for a few years to take his shot at his dream before falling back on those connections with Michigan is not a bad situation.  When a high school kid who no-one knows flames out, what is the fallback?

A Walton type, or even a guy who only spends one year succeeding at a big university will be in a far better place to succeed outside of basketball than some kid who no one knows. Being recognizable as "that guy who played at Kentucky" has more benefits than people realize.

I think the point is to keep…

I think the point is to keep expectations in check. Don't assume that whatever grad transfer point guard who comes in is going to be a starter and take 25 minutes a game. Bringing in Smith would allow for 10-15 minutes a game of solid and consistent play at PG. That can do wonders for a team with Final Four aspirations.

And besides, it was always going to be tough for SImmons to come into Beilein's system and take control off the jump. Howard =/= Beilein, and Smith =/= Simmons.

Ohio State is recruiting at…

Ohio State is recruiting at an unbelievable pace, there is no denying that. But it's still too early to really understand what our class is. Last year at this time we had 3 commits with an average of .903 ranking. This year, our 6 rated players average out to .907 and that average includes two recruits that are lower than anyone we had in last years class (Which I understand is concerning to some).

My point is that although OSU is on a completely different level than us, it's way too early to understand what that gap will end up being for this class. Especially given that things can change so much in recruiting on each individual recruit's rating.

But you forgot the key…

But you forgot the key element that the Media and probably the selection committee are so far up Izzo's ass come March that they get a seed line bump.

They probably expected him…

They probably expected him to say no. But they took their shot. Can't fault them for that. I recall in a few recent coaching searches on our end where this board has clamored for the AD or search committee to at least make a call to the idealistic options, even though they were always long shots.

You would be surprised to…

You would be surprised to know that before Silvio De Sousa was known for his brawl earlier this season, he was known for being suspended for the whole season for receiving impermissible benefits. But before THAT, De Sousa was known for reclassifying from the 2018 class to the 2017 one, graduating in December and playing straight away for Kansas in January of 2018. Ended up playing like 15 minutes a game for Kansas in the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments.

The guy has actually had a very interesting college career.

I have no knowledge on how…

I have no knowledge on how the acceptance works with athletic scholarships, but I find it pretty unlikely that Admissions is going to reject the head coach's son if he is going to play on the basketball team, scholarship or not.

In his eyes he probably sees…

In his eyes he probably sees it as a one year move. And to go play for a team that just played for a national championship with the hottest coach in America, it's hard to blame him with or without the possible incentive$. He wouldn't be the first person in the world to move to an undesirable place for the short term based on other factors.

I feel like a lot of the…

I feel like a lot of the time, their live scores are too far behind to even be super useful. ESPN has become quite unbearable on most platforms. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Although I agree that it is…

Although I agree that it is tougher to get to a point of huge success in football (Playoff only has 4 teams), IMO I think last year's BB team had a more successful year than most if not all of Harbaugh's years (2016 as the closest comparison to me). The hoops team was considered a true national title contender all the way up until their loss to TT. I don't know if we can say the same thing about any of Harbaugh's teams if we are being honest about it.

If I recall correctly, there…

If I recall correctly, there was plenty of evidence that showed Najee was seriously considering coming to Michigan, but on the national scale, many still believed he was firmly Bama. The Crystal Balls here shows that the national folk are buying into the interest as well.

You mean to tell me that the…

You mean to tell me that the backup QB is the most popular guy on the team? What a revelation. But in all seriousness, this has always been the case, it just is becoming more prevalent with the "everyone has a voice" nature of social media so that every idiot feels like they have a point worth sharing.

I'm by no means one of those…

I'm by no means one of those posters who criticizes thread titles, but yours is a tad misleading. I clicked on the link thinking this was Gentry trashing the program. Good for him buying in to Harbaugh and believing that he could be an NFL tight end. I know his tenure here didn't end on a great note because of the OSU game last season, but he's a great example of buying into a program and seeing rewards because of it. I'll be rooting for him.

I am actually surprised to…

I am actually surprised to see that I am in the minority in preferring All or Nothing (obviously not counting the Michigan season). It's tough to build drama in a show where everyone knows how it plays out, but I think they do a really nice job of it regardless. I think they are more or less the same show, I just think the aspects of seeing the season are more interesting than the roster management and profiles of fringe roster players that Hard Knocks relies on.

Either way, I enjoy watching both because I find myself becoming fans of certain players after seeing different sides of them besides press conferences and on the field. DeAndre Hopkins won me over in his Hard Knocks season and Cam has been impressive on this All or Nothing season IMO.

This would be cool, no doubt…

This would be cool, no doubt. But for the love of god, stop scheduling the military schools!

15 PPG at an insanely…

15 PPG at an insanely inefficient clip. The offense is significantly better with Langford off the court. Thinking otherwise because of PPG and shooting percentage is lazy analysis. Only Loyer was less efficient on offense for the Spartans this year. Him taking almost 30% of MSU's shots is an abysmal choice and he is probably worse than that because 6 of his 13 games were against sub KP top 140 teams.

That Duke game was far…

That Duke game was far closer than the final margin indicates. I'm fairly sure Duke ended the game on a 10+ run.

Same, but I switch B and E.

Same, but I switch B and E.

I feel like Kenny Goins is…

I feel like Kenny Goins is Gavin Schilling Reincarnated. I keep thinking that Goins has been there forever, this is probably why.

Why is this? Not arguing,…

Why is this? Not arguing, just curious. I remember when Virginia lost, I was bummed that it was them that lost. Largely, they are a team with a good coach who built up a middling program into a relative powerhouse without recruiting exceptionally well. To me that seems like a team to root for. I would have much rather seen a team like Duke or Kentucky lose even though they have like 4 future NBA all stars.

If you reference scoring as…

If you reference scoring as your clear point of determining offensive value, it is probably not worth arguing with you because you don't understand the in's and out's of the game, but I'll bite. The team has drastically improved by getting Henry and Gabe Brown more minutes since Langford's injury. And yes, he is their worst offensive player in their generous 10 man rotation according to Kenpom's Offensive Rating (Which I'm sure you don't have because all the information you could ever need is in the box score). He has a 106 offensive rating, most good offensive players are at least around 115.

In fact, if you consider the top teams in the B1G: Michigan, MSU, Maryland, Purdue, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska, Langford is only a better offensive player than Matthews and Charles Thomas of Wisconsin when considering significant contributors (20% or higher usage). And that is with him missing a large portion of the B1G season. He is simply not a good offensive player.

It would obviously be worth having him back for depth purposes, but that is largely it.

Are you suggesting that…

Are you suggesting that Langford may be their best player? Get out of here with that nonsense. Just a shooter and even that is generous given that his True shooting % is worse than everyone except for Goins out of their contributors. He doesn't rebound, he has more TO's than assists and he is literally the worst offensive player on the team. Even if you give him the lofty praise of being their "best defender", the team defense has went from 29th the day he got injured to 9th now so he can't be too important on that end.

MSU is likely better without Langford unless you consider depth purposes, but if the only reason you would rather have a guy back is for depth, he is no where near your best player.

I'm with you. I don't quite…

I'm with you. I don't quite understand the thought of Illinois playing small lineups all night. My thought was that they had a traditional big on the court for almost the entirety of the game.

It was something like 8 of…

It was something like 8 of the top 15 teams in the country struggled for at least a significant portion of their games against inferior opponents on Saturday. Not all games are going to look pretty, and not all will seem super encouraging, but the best teams simply win and Michigan has done that while simultaneously looking very impressive for the most part. The critics of this team at this point are simply searching for something to complain about.

I think UNC eventually works…

I think UNC eventually works themselves back up near or in the top 10. That will be a really good win at season end. Hell, with how bad the Big East is, maybe even Villanova gets back in that range.

I don't know about this. If…

I don't know about this. If they lost this week, and LSU won out and went to the SEC championship game, I see it as likely that Bama is left out if all else goes somewhat to plan. Last year's circumstances were different. It was either Bama, who didn't play in their championship game or a 2-loss conference champ. With the current situation of Undefeated Clemson, Undefeated ND, 1 Loss SEC champ, 1-loss B1G champ, and 1-loss Big 12 champ, there is just too much to overcome for 4 spots in the case of Bama, even if a couple of those teams lost once the rest of the way.

If we won out, Clemson lost once but still won the ACC, and ND won out, is Bama overtaking any of them with their whopping 0 elite wins? I think not.

Think you are…

Think you are misinterpreting what he is saying. I believe he is saying that LSU could also be in front of Notre Dame, not that Notre Dame would be ahead of us which is a near certainty and not at all a bold claim.

So Florida jumped UCF…

So Florida jumped UCF because they looked so impressive during their bye?

Thompson is a no brainer…

Thompson is a no brainer. Lindsay if you are expected to lose and need the upside. Otherwise, I'm going with Alf and McCoy as they should get solid production

You are wrong on this one…

Duplicate. sorry

You are wrong on this one…

You are wrong on this one. You aren't wrong that the tackles were bad, because they certainly are. But this loss is certainly on the coaching staff. Honestly, now that I look back on it, most of the losses over the last two years have been. Everyone knows that the tackles are bad, yet we don't adjust for that fact until the damn backup is in. How long are we going to force Shea to sit in a pocket that can't stand up? Mccaffrey comes in and we start to roll him out and give him easy routes to throw. It's like Harbaugh thinks that the first team O, no matter who it is, should be able to run a pro-style offense, but when a backup QB comes in, he recognizes that we have to make things easier with the shitty O-line play. Same thing happened with O'Korn against Purdue and Peters against Rutgers.

UMBig11 said that if we want to blame the offensive system, we need to blame Harbaugh, and it's about damn time that he starts taking criticism. His stubbornness with his system is what lost us this game. Get Shea outside the pocket, throw more to allow the art of surprise to spring Higdon, and for the love of god: Stop thinking that our tackles can protect a QB in the pocket, because they clearly can't. An entire fanbase sees the flaw with this team, it's about time that our supposed quarterback whisperer recognizes the realities as well.

Let's not do this. You can't…

Let's not do this. You can't judge the impact of an injury based on what you see from your couch. It isn't always the biggest hits that cause injuries, and even the most commonplace tackles can lead to injury. In addition, the reaction of the player cannot always indicate the severity either. I remember a few years back when Jay Cutler got hurt in the NFC championship game and came out. He was simply standing on the sideline watching the rest of the game and the entire Bears fanbase and media crucified him for it, only to find out that he had a torn MCL.

My point is, neither you or I know how serious an injury is, so to accuse BP of faking an injury to sit for the rest of the game, especially seeing as how he ended up missing OSU because of the same concussion, is in bad form. Michigan has already had one bad instance of having a guy play with a concussion, we don't need another.

To be fair, I think the…

To be fair, I think the large percentage of Alabama predictions are simply based on Oklahoma being out of it, meaning that the 79% CB share they had as of June had to go somewhere and Bama is always the safe bet. Most insiders believe that it is a Michigan-Bama battle, without really anyone knowing which way the kid is leaning.

When it comes to Bell, can…

When it comes to Bell, can you blame him? The man has no mandate to go to camp because of his franchise tag, and is willing to wait it out and not risk injury in order to hopefully prolong his very short career. Personally, I don't see the similarities between the two situations at all.

Which would even go more…

Which would even go more towards my point that he is a top ten pick. He has similar stats to a guy who went in the top 10 and was pretty much all potential.

Najee Harris was enrolled in…

Najee Harris was enrolled in school and had his dorm room. It is a reasonable mistake to make to assume he would be attending Michigan, and even then Sam came short of issuing his "gut feeling" which is his way of saying "It's happening". This is a bad take man.
