1995 GMC K1500

My truck is in the process of getting away, unfortunately. I have a '95 GMC Sierra K1500 Z71, with the 350ci V8. She's just a monster - a custom exhaust really lets the V8 growl - and is in amazing shape. My dad bought her originally, and then I 'bought' it off him in high school after my first car got wrecked, back in 2002.  Been driving it since, and it's my baby.

Now I have an 18mo. old at home though, and between the car seat not fitting safely in the crew cab, and not having the time/money to maintain her properly (to pass PA inspections), it's very sadly time to give her up. Happily, she'll going back home; my dad is going to buy her back, and she'll retire to push snow plows and pull a trailer.

Buffalo Blues in Shadyside

There is in fact an un-official Michigan bar in Pittsburgh.  Check out Buffalo Blues in Shadyside, on Highland Ave.  There are usually 15-20 Michigan grads there on Gameday; for the bball national championship last year there were ~50 together.

The Alumni Spirit group is in flux right now, though.  There's talk of a new bar opening downtown called the Blue Line or something; the owner is a Michigan grad that previously owned a bar that was the main UM hangout in Shadyside.  I've heard it's opening soon, and he wants it to be the main spot for us, but we'll see.

Mighty Good

Mighty Good Coffee on Main would also be worth your time. Another local roaster that makes an excellent product.  Better than Sweetwater's, to be honest, and in general more reasonable than Zingerman's.  I would be hard pressed to pick between MG and Zingerman's, though.

IE ok, Firefox angry

Firefox gave me the same malware warning, but I'm using IE at the moment and it hasn't seemed to notice the problem.

WOO!

Ordered!

FYI, Firefox 5 was unsatisfied with the security on MSP's site; IE had no such concern, though.

comics

Wedding planning and life as a whole have obviously been consuming her.  Trust me, it's not that she doesn't want to start up again.  The wedding is in about a month and a half, she's hoping to get going again afterward.  I'll let her know (subtly, for the sake of my health) that the internet misses her.

Next Snyder opinion piece

My ass can't be sure that it's not a hole in the ground.

This was my graduation gift to myself back in '06:

I just have to decide what to do to top this when Michigan gives me my Ph.D. next month.

good news from Hawaii

My fiancee's family lives in Honolulu, and we heard from them this morning - civil defense hasn't sounded the all clear, but the worst waves are thought to be over and there aren't any reports of major damage anywhere.

loves me some Tim Cook

I remember being at the game when Tim Cook scored his first and only goal as a Wolverine, my senior year, I think.  Myself and every other student there collectively thought "Cook... scored?  COOK SCORED!!!"

get this man a soapbox

Interpreting your 45-year-fandom as something near your age, I wish I could get you to have a conversation with my dad.  He's been riding the Harbaugh bandwagon for weeks now, and I get an earful every week about it.  In a fit of anger during the Wisconsin game, I ended up betting him $100 that RichRod will be our head coach next season.

For all the reasons you outline above, I am looking forward to my $100, and to all the future success that is coming to this team and this coach.
