Arguably worse / lower then…

Arguably worse / lower then his actual value as one of the top 10 football coaches in the entire money-flushed sport biz. He's worth more then 8 million per year, per the market. Coaches worse then him make much more, on net. Look at the Broncos. But, I hope he enjoys the weather etc. And his tax bill.

I find Los Angeles to be a crowded, degraded, traffic-snarled dump myself, but yes, the beaches are cool.

Sunny, earthquake prone,…

Sunny, earthquake prone, traffic-snarled, high tax, gang affiliated Los Angeles.

Yes, the city of aaaaangels!

You serious? JJ played his…

You serious? JJ played his frickin guts out and went all out to win. Respect his decision. He's going to be a top-20 pick.

Nobody suggested Jim would…

Nobody suggested Jim would be "suffering". He coaches a kid's game and has access to some of the best facilities in the world. The new Chargers facility in El Segundo looks amazing...except it is near LAX, kinda. The sound of jets overhead, descending for landing would get annoying.

Regarding his net pay, sure, he's doing fine. Sorta. A thinking person would probably get a bit peeved if they looked at their paycheck (guarantee Jim has or does) and saw all the taxes resulting in basically 60-65% of gross pay being deposited. A rational thinking person might then look around their community and state and ask "gee, for this exorbitant total tax burden, where I'm getting closer and closer to working the majority of my time for the state/government, not myself, do I at least live in near-utopia? With clean, safe streets and happy, thriving people everywhere?"

The answer in Cali would be a NO. Resoundingly "no".

Congrats Jim though! Keep propping up Sacramento! I'm sure they'll use a few of your millions wisely. That bullet train is gonna be done soon, don't you worry. Utopia needs just a few more dollars.

Yeeeeep. They "tax the rich"…

Yeeeeep. They "tax the rich". Hard. And then all their federal politicians want to tax 'em even more.  Double whammy!

So yeah, after all the taxes are withheld, Jim ain't getting 16 million a year in take home pay.

Jim H better have some good…

Jim H better have some good accountants, too. With the budget deficit about to squeeze the Cali spendthrifts in Sacramento, all manner of tax hikes are incoming. And, they even want to tax people when they move / depart! But, I guess Jim says he's going to be there for at least 5-6 years at least.

Or until Spanos gets tired of the wild card round exits. Still, I'll be cheering for them.

My thoughts exactly…

My thoughts exactly. Baseball player salaries are incredibly inflated.

The MLB anti-trust exemption is past its prime and should be revoked in full.

Belafonte's "activism"…

Belafonte's "activism" included the promotion of murderous thugs and cowards like Castro.

Chicago sports sounds like a…

Chicago sports sounds like a reflection of its political machine: grifty and always quick to blame others. This isn't a partisan attack... the city of Chicago has long had corruption issues.

Regardless, getting back to the pro sports angle yeah that sounds hard to beat. Washington DC has a similar issue. While the hockey franchise is solid, the "Commanders" are very mediocre and have a pathetic ownership team led by Dan Snyder. The basketball team is mediocre and likely not headed to any contention. And the baseball team just traded away generational talent and is being put up for sale. All around pretty pathetic and a far cry from the short lived "city of champions" moniker the DC politicos tried to create after Nats and Caps victories in successive years. I see no future championship in this area's future. Oh and Dan Snyder tried to move the football stadium even further south to central VA but was rebuffed, thankfully.

I think the lions are going…

I think the lions are going to surprise. I really do. Still building up but the desire is there. The grit. They didn't roll over last season despite the losses. And they are building both lines. Hard Knocks tonight should be fun.

Awesome job. Man, the…

Awesome job. Man, the seniors...you can tell there was just something about them in hindsight. So determined. And you can just tell the maturation that occurs when you have foundational seniors like a Hutchinson, a Hawkins, Josh Ross etc. Every single one stepped up.

It was one of the greatest single seasons in my lifetime. Probably only topped by 1997. I got to experience it with my dad, my father who brought me into Michigan Fandom. Special. These guys will always have a place in my heart. I wish my grandpa could see it with me. My mom. All the family that put up with me being sour a day later after Michigan lost. Especially vs Ohio state. It's incredible.

Great job. Champions of the west.

He's likely more coherent…

He's likely more coherent and more alert, and I admit it's a closer call then it should be, then 96 year old Diane Feinstein.

How much of the 30.6 trillion in debt (reported, actual real number is much higher) did Walker vote for? Answer: none. That was all done via previous congress people. The "geniuses" of Harvard, Yale who can't bother to plan, budget or think ahead 2 years past an election cycle.

Al Franken wasn't too smart…

Al Franken wasn't too smart with that photo of him pranking the young woman while she slept though, was he? Lotta "Harvard education" displayed there I'm sure.

Stop with the pretentious smug sanctimonious scribe. Walker is a dumb celebrity choice for Senator but honestly it's reached clown car status long before 2022. The clowns can't even pass a balanced budget. Senators are 95, 96 years old and can't stay awake in meetings. Senator Diane Feinstein should have retired 29 years ago. You want to rage on Walker fine.  I guarantee he's above the mental function of Diane Feinstein right now.  You think Mazi Hirono is some kind of savant? 😆

A long time pharmacist on capital hill claims that all kinds of prescriptions are doled out to senators and their staffs. Stuff would stun Americans if we got actual reporting by Corp media instead of cheerleading.

Ehhhh, 99 year old Diane…

Ehhhh, 99 year old Diane Feinstein? How about hank Johnson. Go look up his comments on Guam.

Not a fan of walker (as a prospective senator) but stop this sanctimonious dribble.

"COMPETENT GOVERNING" to the tune of 30.6 trillion in debt.

There was this spot in…

There was this spot in chapel hill nc with incredible whole hog BBQ. It sadly closed. Legendary. Start to finish the greatest whole hog experience I've ever had. Allen and son bbq.

In Surf City NC there's a spot called appropriately, surf city BBQ. Very solid.

Let's go! KG makes appearance in Michigan tour video i posted above as well. Great to see.

The last EF5 was in 2013. So…

The last EF5 was in 2013. So about 8 years ago. I'm interested to learn more about the plotted frequency of such storms. We've always,  unfortunately, had tornado alley around Kansas and Oklahoma.

This tornado seems to be unprecedented in how long a path it cut. Over 200 miles.

We've had severe weather…

We've had severe weather since humanity began. How do you know that severe weather is "only going to get worse"? Do you also have winning lotto numbers? Stock picks for the future?

He was a top OL recruit. Per…

He was a top OL recruit. Per 2020 report;

2020 4-star offensive lineman Andrew Gentry has scholarship offers to play football for the best programs in America. As the No. 6 offensive tackle in the country and No. 47 overall player, according to 247Sports’ composite, it’s no wonder teams are in hot pursuit of the 6-foot-8, 310-pounder from Littleton, Colorado.

I remember this recruiting…

I remember this recruiting saga. Welcome Andrew! Massive get!

Haskins will be invaluable…

Haskins will be invaluable in nfl. What an absolute warrior. I hope he goes to a place that actually values RBs. Watch John Harbaugh pick him in 3rd, 4th round.

Yeah BTN cinematic clips are great. I even rewatched the journey ones about Hutchinson, Ross.  Excellent stuff.

Can't we all just get along?…

Can't we all just get along?

People were upset. They saw some trends and extrapolated from it.

The team was going to be better then 7-5 but had not proven it could win in huge, hostile arenas consistently.

Thankfully all is well! Go blue!

Haha indeed. I bought the freep pre-order yesterday and posted about it. The pics look phenomenal.  Got some crap thrown at me for linking to freep but I'm too happy to care. Dream season! Go blue forever.

Fyi big ten network posted championship game highlights as well on YouTube. "Cinematic highlights" for Michigan vs Iowa.

The pics sold me, so I pulled the trigger. But, I understand people's indifference to anything Detroit free press affiliated.

Long but solid recap.

Long but solid recap.

Covid was such a fluke year. Barely any prep time, season in a Flux then scrambled together. Guys bypassing it to get ready for draft.

The fact that these espn and fox and other media pundits took that recency bias and ran with it shows how little they researched.

The clip of that woman on ESPN saying "Michigan is still bad" after they dominated a physical, if flawed, Washington team at home shows their buffoon-ery in full, clear 4k.

Seriously? I get the overall…

Seriously? I get the overall desire to avoid but Angelique C on Twitter is an excellent read and video poster, no matter who she's employed by.

How? I'm not full on bashing…

How? I'm not full on bashing Athlon I'm just bemused and happy with the season.

Chips on the shoulder works well for Michigan.  Revenge tour was fun until the final game. And this season was incredible.  Give me more chips and 'ships!

Because the preseason…

Because the preseason methodology is flawed when you use recency bias off a covid, abbreviated year with no fans and home field etc. Football is an emotional and mental game too, beyond just the physical stats and bodies.

7-5 was simply an attack on Harbaugh, in my opinion. 9-3 made sense. The grossly inflated Indiana and Penn state predictions were also kinda short sited.

I'd prefer for these pubs to simply analyze the current roster and coaching versus making immediate predictions and rankings. I really think AP top 25 shouldn't be produced until week 3.

I'm just poking fun.

And…

I'm just poking fun.

And yes, I had a sporting news preseason mag back then too... we were ridiculed and predicted #18. Nobody thought Charles woodson would be the player of the year.

Michigan does well when preseason expectations are low. Just my experience.  Nothing set in stone... Onward!

I'm too happy to care but… I'm too happy to care but yes, that was some shoddy tabloid journalism back in the RichRod days.
7-5 just seemed immensely…

7-5 just seemed immensely short-sited and overly fixed on a covid year that was all around strange.

Same publication said sparty would be 4-8 and Ohio state 13-0.  They nailed Maryland (6-6). Grossly overestimated Indiana.

Michael Wilbon truly is a…

Michael Wilbon truly is a hater. I know this has been touched on before but he's not even an interesting hater with some hawt take or useful insights. It's just all hate for Harbaugh all the time. We beat Ohio state and touch off a crazy celebration in the snow and his response on PTI is "they haven't won anything".

The undergrad credits /…

The undergrad credits / transfer portal thing is a barrier. It's not insurmountable but it is the new reality of college football and collegiate athletics and I want Michigan to compete and adapt. Heck, coach Harbaugh pushed for the one time transfer with no wait time because he recognized it was better for players.

Other then that, agree with the post.

This is an antiquated hawt…

This is an antiquated hawt take. How on earth is allowing a few more credits to transfer for undergrads in any way, shape or form impacting the university's "institution of higher learning " status?  This is ridiculous. The university of Maryland does it. Michigan state does it. Literally all of our conference peers. Except maybe NW. And they should be on board too!

You can and should have standards once young men are in your program and enrolled but how does rejecting incoming credits from peer institutions serve any purpose? It's ridiculous.  If Michigan feels this strongly about its vaunted undergrad curriculum and credit hours it needs to go independent.  If your peer, conference institutions are able to get undergrad transfers from other colleges with minimal disruption then there's no excuse for Michigan.

Frustrating to hear. Would a…

Frustrating to hear. Would a new university president possibly crack the door here, for future changes?

If the university of Maryland and similar peers can take transfers for undergraduate degrees, why can't U-M? Whole thing seems antiquated.

Great points.

I do really…

Great points.

I do really hope U-M can sort out its transfer process / reqs in near future so we can get in more on this 2nd recruiting season. That'll be critical to maintain depth.

Rather have talent and people who want to be in AA.

I'm seeing predictions for Semaj Morgan WR 5-10 from Detroit area?

Near top 50 nationally (at WR).

I'm seeing predictions roll…

I'm seeing predictions roll in for Semaj Morgan...#7 in state. WR prospect with some burst? Anyone have scout on this young man? Go blue.

Truly is no excuse for usc…

Truly is no excuse for usc to be this mediocre. Premier program in a huge city in a state that still pumps out talent across prep and high school ball.

Mike hart has been great at…

Mike hart has been great at identifying RB talent for many years now. Look at the great work he did at Indiana.

Certainly they've raided…

Certainly they've raided Texas but I think they've built a solid foundation as DBU and WR university now. Build a foundation of elite position groups and good things happen. Lincoln Riley is considered the QB guru, the #1 pick producer. That's what's great about this run for Michigan and bringing Harbaugh back -- we are breaking through with some elite players and units.

We should become lineman u and RB university. What kid on earth in those projected position groups wouldn't give Michigan a look now?

That's insane. Maybe that…

That's insane. Maybe that eval occurred back when Hutchinson was a junior? Because as a senior he was #1 in Michigan and eventually near top 100 nationally.
