I see this file has been…

I see this file has been updated with the 2023 Schedule - Thanks again Canzior!!!

3 years and running, my friend!

"Well, we were finally…

"Well, we were finally healthy. That's not an excuse, it's a fact"

- Lloyd after the bowl win against Florida, 1/1/08, his final game.

I really liked that comment and the way he said it. Like, y'all can write your columns from your seats any way you want to, but that's my view from down here on the actual field leading the actual team.

Two years running - you are…

Two years running - you are the wind beneath my wings. Thanks for the time and effort, and for sharing Canzior! Go Blue forever.

YES! Thank you very much, my…

YES! Thank you very much, my friend.

My Fantasy wizardry can now take full flight, mixaphorically speaking.

My best memory there was…

My best memory there was Tracy Chapman in 93ish. In a different class than all the rock bands obviously, she just absolutely lit up the room with her smile and voice. What a presence!! I'll never forget.

"Nothing at the Rim". Damn…

"Nothing at the Rim". Damn right. The more things change ....

After just watching "Bad Boys", I wonder how the 87-90 Pistons teams would compare statistically in terms of number of shots and eFG% close to the rim.

Or, another angle, take the top NBA defenses over the last 20 years - do they all have this in common, or are there outliers? Is it possible to have a good defense if opponent eFG% at the rim is above average (instead focus on allowing nothing from outside)?

Please and thank you?

What is he supposed to do?

What is he supposed to do?

How about standing up for the core values of his program, that he crafted, namely "TREAT WOMEN WITH RESPECT".

Best case scenario here for Meyer is he survives this looking like a complete hypocrite and disingenuous liar.

Wheatley Tribute - 2:24

That is all.

I delay watch every. single. game.

I can't stomach the commercials, and I honestly can't remember the last football or hoops game I watched live.

It's not that hard - Don't check social media, filter your emails via subject line, and don't open texts from specific people.

Probably helps that I dont live in MI...

marantz

i own 3 marantz receivers, but i still shop for them from time to time. the 2270 or 2325 with wood case is on my dream list.

seconded

butter salt and yeast is where its at, popped in an oil popper. i like to use coconut oil or olive oil. also, shake in a little cayenne peper for some zip.

2-1 on this stretch feels about right

Sure we got robbed in the Purdue game, but honestly, we should have lost this Maryland game.  I'm not sure I've seen a worse 1st half of basketball in any year, or at least I can't remember it.  So, I guess it balanced out.

1 week ago, we'd all take 2-1 on this 3-game stretch, especially with one of them in EL.

What we've learned:  This is a pretty good team which will be fun to watch over the next 2 months.  I wasn't so sure about that in November.  Kudos to JB and staff.

huh?

that wasnt uncle rico.

cant. stop. watching.

im giggling like a 12 yr old girl

coming soon

check out amazon video in January. I think we will all know much more about his demeanor with the team then, and I suspect you will see a very very intense coach.

Yes!!

this is outstanding news to start a great weekend. hoops recruiting has been crazy lately.

MMG nerf ball

Is it just me, or does it look McGary's playing with a nerf ball in that photo?

mmm. Poutine.

this is why we read mgoblog: "Vilain gets off the line of scrimmage and attacks your face until he's making poutine out of the quarterback".

Absolutely Correct

I've read all those other posts as well, but I value having the updated questions and recent experiences.

Personally, I plan to activate the PSVue option in August (just a couple months now).  This helps to validate that plan or not, as new user experiences come forth.  I don't recall ABC being a problem in my area, so I might need to double-check that.

I'm also interested to hear from others how the cloud-based recordings work, because I simply can't stomach live TV.

he recruited all those guys

now look who he lost them too. hmmm...

Irvin guarded Swanigan

In the first matchup he did quite well, as Swanigen really had a tough time keeping up with Irvin on the perimeter and driving.  Purdue adjusted in the second game, and the matchup was much more even, probably a nod to Swanigan.

Swanigen is much better now obviously, but he will be guarded by Wagner or Wilson, not Irvin.  Purdue very rarely ever puts both Hass and Swanigen in the game at the same time.

close game

UM 27 FSU 20

Our d-line dominates the 2nd half and forces a couple picks.

Speight misses a couple deep balls but has an efficient game on 3rd downs.

Tai streets

was a huge recruit out of cali. he must have been one of the top 3 wrs that year.

Point is, all of the predecessors who were the top wrs in their class went on to become top notch receivers at UM. (walker, Terrell, streets, mcmurtry, Carter, alexander)

The other side of the story

Everything you've asked for here was on display, and in fact was the only reason UM won last night, but it was on the defensive side.

The offense struggled obviously - give Texas' work, talent and length a lot of credit for that. The passing was subpar, but 12 assists is not terrible either.  However, UM was able to match that defensive intensity, to hold Texas to 0.82 PPP, 14 TOs and 50 total points.  In a game like this, it's the D that keeps it close and provides the opportunity to win late - that is exactly what happened.

On offense, these guys are clearly trying - the effort is there.  We simply don't have Guard and Wing talent that JB's offense needs to match the success  we've seen in years past.

slobber knocker

I have no idea how it's possible to not know the term slobber knocker. it defines this program perhaps more than any other term.

thanks for posting

and thanks to your talented daughter for applying her skills to serve our country. I will certainly be following this story.

Question about recording

My question about all of the above responses is re: recording content.  I'm one of those guys who DVRs a crap-load of games all day Saturday, shuts down emails and messages to avoid spoilers, and then binge watches 10 hrs of football in an efficient 5-6 hr window.  This way I get a full saturday with friends and family, and don't need to suffer through commercials.

How do I record content on ESPN/BTN, etc. without a cable/sat DVR? Basically, can I record a livestream?

Thanks!

ray jackson

by the time he was a senior, he only led the team in pts, rebs and assists IIRC.

Is this a serious question?

Max was one of our most steady players last year, and would have been again.  Having him in the game mid-season vs Doyle would have been a huge upgrade, not only in defense and rebounding but also his offensive skillset (making jump shots).  Also, Max would have brought some mental toughness to the team to stop some of those long runs that killed us in our blowouts.

I like JB, but in hindsight letting Max go was not a good decision, especially for a team already lacking in upperclassmen.

This is just brilliant

Bravo, sir.

what?

this team is MILES ahead of last year's team. remember all those bad losses (NJIT)? Not even close. we're struggling to make up for lack of depth at the 1-2 positions, and that will improve next year with Xavier and Ibi.

vibe

that's not the vibe I got.

I understand the frustration. but keep in mind, which team out there would be playing as well as UM without their unquestionable best player? we already saw what happened to sparty when valentine was out.

my thoughts exactly

ironic.

MSG

part of a pretty cool weekend event with hoops and hockey.

UConn folks not too disappointed

It's probably a good hire but ....

There are many UConn insider folks (alums, ticket holders, etc) who blame Manuel for their current plight, walking in the desert now known as the AAC.  Apparently Manuel was not available and/or active  when all the conference realignment stuff went down, which is why they were not able to hook up with one of the P5 confs (likely ACC, I guess).  Sounds like a Bill Martin sailing story...

phish

"like Abe Vigoda
ya know, the fish TV show"
no phish fans out there?

ironically, barney miller was my ring tone until just a week ago...

29-9 Michigan

29-9 Michigan

Bought 2 tickets for OSU yesterday

For my son and I.  Yes it's volatile, but W or L Saturday, the OSU game will be big.  Guaranteed.

It will be my son's first game, and I'm going to keep it a surprise until the day before, or maybe a T-Day announcement.  He's 11, plays youth football (FB and LB) and watches every game with me.  I told him he could travel to a game with me when he memorized the starting Defense, and by gosh he's done it.

My hope for all of us, win or lose, is that it's a huge game with a B1G championship on the line.  My hope for my boy is that he will remember it for the rest of his life.

Football is FUN again!

Don't sleep on Viramontes

Expecting it to be O'Korn's to lose in 2016, then an all-out battle in 2017, between Viramontes, Peters, Gentry, and oh yeah, Malzone.

Remember the days of Clayton Richards, Gutierrez, and Henne?

An embarassment of riches - Wooo!

Those offenses were just beautiful

Gerhart and then Stepfan Taylor running the ball, multiple TEs to account for.  Overloaded lines.  Oh, and Andrew Luck.  Damn.

Reminds me of Brett Bielema

And his post-game comments after Wiscy beat us silly a few years back.  IIRC they had 0 pass attempts in the 2nd half.

THANK YOU coaching staff, for getting us on the other side of those comments now.

Must have been a LONG flight home back to Oregon...

OL and LB are thin

I'm not too woried about CB, at least not as much as LB.  Check it:  http://mgoblog.com/content/michigan-depth-chart-class-0

OL still looks very strong next year, as well as DLine - both groups only replace one person next year.

As for LB, we'll finally see Gedeon (4-star), McCray (4-star), and/or Furbush (3/4-star).  Gant is also in there.

Late aughts

Henne, Gutierrez, Richards.  Crazy.

I thought the same thing

I thought, "why and how is the B10 like a BYE, like most of the teams are beatable?  OK."

The much better was to phrase the question would be something like: "you know, if the B1G were stock, I'd rate it was a BUY.  Would you agree?"

Harbaugh still would have answered something like, "well I never would have sold...", but at least there's no confusion.

I couldn't agree more

Also agree that it wasn't bad or painful until the end.

Cowherd sensed a wee little bit of awkwardness and rather than react like a pro, panicked and shut it down like a chump.  Just another lame chapter in Cowherd's lame show.

I think he meant

Loy Vaught

Only got one piece of advice from grandpa

"Take care of your teeth".  Seriously.

It it ain't yours, don't touch it.

So true, and can really keep you out of trouble.  Say it to my kids all the time.

As Spielman would say

See what you hit, hit what you see.

I'd say the horse did a pretty good job there ....

2 points

1) I completely endorse OT threads like this - it's why I come to mgoblog frankly.  I'm not just a sport douche.

2) Considering the median household income of an american family, and that this blog is not THAT far above it, we can say 180K is deemed wealthy by most (maybe not in LA)

Score 1 for Team 529.  There's a reason this savings vehicle was created
