Meh... I don't know about…

Meh... I don't know about the skank argument. Louisville loves hoops, as does Kentucky. That is an excellent job for a coach who can recruit and execute.

Sandusky stinks up Penn State to this poster, but the culture rides on. I love PSU fans (and to be honest, any B1G fan is a breath of fresh air in my non-Midwest hometown).

Michigan gave Juwan a long, too-long rope. If things had gone differently (and they could have), that rope would still be going out. Winning or losing in college basketball isn't all about the coach—maybe less so now than ten or twenty years ago.

Hopefully, we can get the pieces in place to allow May to shine. Dusty's decision probably weighed heavily on the culture argument, but don't forget Michigan gives away free hamburgers and has plenty of less tasty items in the closet.

The real deal is a commitment to winning. Michigan has that, and Warde sold that to an open ear.

Suh played basketball down the street from my house. Was awesome. Mason is a different player/style, probably due to wrestling work. Emtman was the best I have ever seen.

The early draft has ruined college sport but it would be awesome to see a Senior Graham. Maybe better than Steve. Saw Emtman at coin flip of championship. The best.

False cadence and punishing nose tackles do it as well. Michigan was in the punishing business last year.

It looks like this was not a one off game though if an extreme example. I'm really hoping to see him start at center. Can't wait to test any theory.

I'm still amaized we won given our special team face plant. OSU is going to be blue this year when they figure it out.

There're options. Please close as soon as possible. Michigan is not the only team looking.

I assume there will be chatter during the watchmaking tonight. I would like to know if any other names are floated floating.

Michigan and Juwan may come…

Michigan and Juwan may come out the better here. Coach K had four year handcuffs to teach his system. Juwan's system isn't clear to anyone yet.

Both Michigan and Juwan need to change if they want to succeed in MBB. It will take more than eight foot showers and hookers. I'm more interested in the manager than the coach to come. Michigan has some learning to do and could have tried that with Juwan (similar to Jim H.) There was no contrition in Juwan's path. There was in Jim's. Whether Michigan can change fast enough to help the next coach? We will see.

I like this post. I disagree with the sentiment. Wisconsin was a bridge too far. But I am sorry to see Juwan go like this. He could have done better. I'm glad he got his ticker cleaned. There's life to live and next season to play.

Wow...so hard to watch and read. Sobering, and no amount of "We are still Football Champs" talk is going to make this better. These guys need better from Michigan. Ono needs to see that, or I have ĺost faith in him as well.

I love love loved the Rose Bowl. Sold the farm and sat 50 yard line club for the championship. I don't want Michigan to ever have a season like this one again. What do I need to do or say? I got nothing.

Go Blue forever.

Really like Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book on audio. My wife and I read to each other as well.

It is a different mode to read out loud well, especially through character changes. Good thing to do though.

Multiple.

On FLMA now and sometimes have hours other times minutes.

MGo time is my waiting room read. One fiction title puts me to sleep (~20mins a night unless I push through that then 3-4 hours.)

Sometimes a non-fiction title will hold me down and will take my night time slot. Otherwise rainy days are filled with non-fiction depending on recent interests.

Last non-fiction title that held down my night time slot was Command and Control by Eric Schlosser. Great effing book.

One of the reasons women are more social.

Reading more non-fiction is a common trend in senescence, and not a good one. I read a ton of it, but am trying not to. Read every damn post here, saw it too, and appreciate the recommendations.

My wife and I listened to McCarthy "The Road" a few years ago. Great writing; dismal world view.

Maybe time to get back to it. He is one of the best contemporary writers out there.

Super smart move by QJ if it works out. He will be drafted likely next year if all goes well. Please make this happen Michigan fairy or whoever you are that gave us all the championship year.

This is not a small thing if it happens.

Garbage? That is a lot…

Garbage? That is a lot premature. Different without JJ. Let's start there. There are weapons and returning linemen at this point. Bring on spring and conditioning.

Hey now..no alternative facts either man. Let's live the sporting life.

That said. Thank You Jesus! Good news!

Five years is a great career…

Five years is a great career for a slot nickel. The average for NFL is 3.3 and less for slot backs. These guys get whacked multiple times a game crossing, cracking back and facing pulling linemen. It is an injury prone position. He can't transition inside. His skill is needed but it is a tough position to play long term. Most who have play corner as well. We will see. I was thinking five years was a positive statement. If he was a running back it would be for sure.

Glad to eat my words here, take my negs, and didn't mean offense Mikey. I think he knows the deal. If it isn't a brutal game, it surely is cutthroat. Mike will get his. His combine was excellent.

Sorry not to groupthink here.

Hello Tourney! Watch out for…

Hello Tourney! Watch out for Michigan you sleepy bastards.. I like the chances here as much as I hate the one and done format. These guys could be on a heater. Let's go!

Thanks Dave! for all your work telling this story. Love the odd man rush summary. Love this team!

I've reviewed the game as…

I've reviewed the game as much as most here probably.

That he did this on one week prep...it is scary. I haven't heard anyone ask him about Texas' offense, but I would love to hear if he has insight. He looked at tons of film for the championship and no one was close. He directed traffic, players deferred to him, where he was wrong it was not on him.

He understands like few others. Too bad he is not a little bigger. The NFL is going to brutalize him. But he will get his, and come out as a top mind of the game. Five year career with a coaching gig to top it off. He is set. We will see. Draft position is super important for him. The combine says he knew that.

Fantastic history summation of the rise of authoritarianism. I read this one then went back to construct a timeliness of all the events laid out.

This book was ok. The TV adaptation is horrible. I didn't like the book well enough to read anymore of them. Most good fantasy comes with character development. I didn't see it here.

Examples of learning for me... Tomatoes are carbon unfriendly - seems like whatever I like to eat comes with a side of guilt. Just a ton of good factual stuff here..

JJ needs to work his 20 yard…

JJ needs to work his 20 yard outs as well. He only just got the seam down.

There is an it factor to NFLing. Some of "it" is good fortune (good line, coach, scheme) but mostly it is work and instinct. Purdy, Allen, Brady...you don't find those guys in the combine. They surface in practice.

I'm sorry to have lost Milton to Tennessee, but...yeah...we dodged a bullet there. A couple good games. The attitude was interesting. But it is about as hard to find QBs in the NFL as it is left tackles in high school. Milton could still figure it out. I just wish the college career was longer. Maybe summer league will become more developmental as the college game shortens pays portals declares. Whatever is happening with CFB.

Not to threadjack but I'm interested if Koen Entringer gets portal'd anywhere after he caught Semaj on his punt return.  Sign me up for a freshman with that kind of hustle.  One of the best plays from 2023. This kid is from Ypsilanti.

Note Semaj put a foot out of bounds prior to contact but definitely caused by Koen... IMO.

You win with people. A coach…

You win with people. A coach adapts to the ability of their roster and what the defense gives. There is no schematic advantage at LSU. It is about the dollar bills and relationships.

Link is calling for login... is this worth pursuing?  What are the deets?

Hmm... A lot is going on…

Hmm... A lot is going on here. Skepticism is easier for you as the tech needed for Starlink to be successful has yet to arrive.

To users like XM, stagnant service levels in the future are just fine. Providing rural internet is daunting even to the cable guys at Google. There are no cheap ways to get these sheep to pasture.

Starlink is looking to get 40,000 satellites in orbit to service about 25 million users, which will spread globally once they get agreements in place. Some of the undesired users will fall out in the process (it is just dumb to use if you can fly by wire), but they are needed now to pay for expensive launching and high attrition, so ... more power to them. Both launching and attrition are workable engineering problems. The Big F***** Rocket better work, both fundamentally and repeatably.

In the worst case, these satellites all re-enter, and we get the learning and tech to make practical space ventures a reality. NASA can't fail as SpaceX can. Geo launches are way too expensive to fail. It is fun to watch if tense for investors (and I don't carry any X or Tesla stock - though I do drive a Tesla - and you'll have to pry my yoke from my cold dead hands... I actually don't have a yoke because... I digress.) I love my car as much as Tobey Keith loved his bar.

There is a path for SpaceX to continue without Starlink in their holster and for them to be the better for it. I repeat - Starlink can fail, and SpaceX can succeed – that may have been the plan all along. There is real strategic need for Starshield (the US Military's version) and alternatives to Russian launch vehicles. We need SpaceX to work.

The military may use GEO solutions to fly drones, but they aren't dogfighting with these. Much of the navigation is done by algorithms and onboard autonomous systems. Internet service calls for more agility than any Geosat could provide commercially – though it may work to view Seal Team 6. The latency difference is close to the delay we hear in the Go Blue chants from one side of Michigan stadium to the other.

That is significant when you try to stream football – interactively, play games, or have online chat/video, though there are algorithms for that (like cheerleaders with Go and Blue signs – anticipating the difference.)

The ultralight concept is absolutely more practical for rural or undeveloped services. Planes could fly for over a hundred, maybe two hundred days, with very high recovery rates, and service hyper local communities in need.

https://www.pcmag.com/news/potential-starlink-rival-to-beam-internet-service-using-high-altitude-planes

You are going at it here. Have you tried this system? It works. Well enough to work remotely in Jackson Hole – and there's plenty of money there to draw good service – but it doesn't seem easy to find. The cable guy just doesn't like to work long hours.

Stock prices are another matter. I have been burned too many times in both directions to make claims of value there. But this much I know. Nobody is more intelligent than the market. You are lucky, or you're dishonest about it (or an indexer... but again I digress.) Musk Industries is fortunate. That is not a bad trait to have in an entrepreneurial adventure.

I agree the satellites need to go up faster. I'm just amazed to see these things work as cheaply as they do. The progress is eye-popping.

The Hall Effect Thrusters on these things are pretty cool as well. Note the highest power Hall-effect thruster in development (as of 2021) is the University of Michigan's 100 kW X3 Nested Channel Hall Thruster. Even if Starlink fails, the lessons learned may be worth it.

Low earth orbit is the only strategy due to latency. Geo vs Leo is a false comparison perhaps. Solar high altitude ultralight craft would be a better approach. Lower >>higher.

Getting XM more bandwidth is worth a little risk for sure.
