Thanks for demonstrating…

Thanks for demonstrating everything wrong with the site in one succinct post.

Hi Seth,

Could you just get…

Hi Seth,

Could you just get rid of my account?

Certain members of the staff have gone off the rails and I don't want to be a part of it.

Thank you (both for hopefully honoring this request and the work you put in).

In what way is the press not…

Not even worth it.

All you need to know about…

All you need to know about the quality of this list is summed up in "2. James Franklin".

It was actually a face mask…

It was actually a face mask and that's why I remember it being so dumb. There was no reason to grab the guy's mask.

The game was over if that doesn't happen. Momentum was all Michigan and that gave them that little bit of life to keep going. You could feel it in the stadium.

Mistake on my part.

It was…

Mistake on my part.

It was a face mask and that's why it was so dumb. Put your hand anywhere else.

It would have been Michigan ball up 17-7 with 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter at roughly their 47 with all the momentum.

Wouldn't you be less likely…

Wouldn't you be less likely to spread it because you aren't as likely to cough and clear your throat?

Or maybe you'd be more likely to spread it because you'd be out more?

Who knows.

I have seen zero follow-up…

I have seen zero follow-up on this: Have any of the athletes who contracted COVID suffered anything beyond mild symptoms? Or seen the reduced lung capacity and other issues doctors have mentioned?

Seth, how would you classify…

Seth, how would you classify Mason Cole's hold against Ohio State? Would that have come under consideration for dumb plays of the decade?

That play will always stand out in my mind as the reason Michigan remains firmly behind Ohio State in 2020.

Its 17-7, late in the third, you have a great play call that puts the ball near midfield. Worst (likely) case scenario at that point is you're punting and pinning Ohio State early in the 4th. Even a turnover has them in their own territory. Another score and its over.

Instead, the play gets called back, a few plays later Speight throws a pick and then everything spirals out of control.

It felt even worse because its Mason Cole who should know better.

If you don't approve of…

.

Its out there, but my guess…

.

We = as a nation.

We = as a nation.

Sure. But what you say often…

Sure. But what you say often doesn't end up being the reality.

I don't know how much influence a president has on these things either but...

There seems to be this idea that Barack Obama being more presidential somehow led to less volatility or something because he gave nice speeches.

In reality we had protests/riots and a huge increase in murders, with the victims being disproportionately black. But again, those black lives do not matter to the people on this board. They would prefer not to think of them. And they definitely don't want to think of the link between those black lives lost and the ones lost at the hands of the police.

Okay, so we agree: Cops…

Okay, so we agree: Cops shouldn't kill black Americans. They shouldn't kill any Americans.

And I've pointed out we are trending in the right direction. That is good news right? Its not perfect, but its a positive correct?

And yes, on occasion I would imagine some unarmed black people have been killed by racist cops solely for being black. But how often does that actually happen? That's not what happened in George Floyd's case.

Its just the same thing that…

Its just the same thing that it every few years:

1. Educate yourself!

2. Give to <insert black organization>!

3. Justice reform!

4. Volunteer your time!

5. Say something!

6. Here are 78 things white people can do!

7. Education reform!

Over and over again.

What haven't we tried? Voluntary wealth transfer from liberals who believe they are where they are because of their race to black people.

And if they truly believe what they say, why wouldn't they do it?

....Because the person above…

....Because the person above me said we should stop killing black people?

And that under the last president more black people were being killed?

And that under the current president fewer black people are being killed?

And that he implied their was a choice we had to make (maybe I misinterpreted) in regards to policy that would be decided by who we elected: The guy who is currently in office that has seen the number of black deaths go down or the guy who was the VP for the guy who saw black deaths go up?

What did you think it was?

Why is it ridiculous?

I'm…

Why is it ridiculous?

I'm asking people who believe in something to give to that cause.

People give to churches because they believe and leftists scoff at them.

Yet here is a real idea that you are calling ridiculous...why?

All it would take is some activism and some white celebrities to get on board and this could take off. Hillary Clinton herself could do it. It would be her greatest achievement.

Its hilarious because everything we've tried hasn't worked and you're all bringing up the same old tired ideas - Listen! Give to charity! Justice reform! - and here I am proposing something new that directly fixes the problem and I'm the cynic?

Fixed. Thanks.

Fixed. Thanks.

White liberals or any other…

White liberals or any other white person who believes in white privilege.

~37 million white people voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

If every one of people did what I proposed above, all of the issues we are discussing here would go away far quicker than any government program people are proposing.

Reach out to black people. Give them your money. Its not hard.

Think about people like Jeff Bezos. George Clooney. Julia Roberts. Warren Buffett. Bill Gates. Ray Dalio. Seth Rogen. Stephen King. Steven Spielberg. Anderson Cooper. Rachel Maddow.

All that money that they do not need, that they have in part because of their privilege. All of it could flow toward the black community. But they don't do it. Why?

Did the cops apprehend Floyd…

Did the cops apprehend George Floyd because he was a black man walking down the street and they were itching to kill a black man that day?

Or did they apprehend him because he had the cops called on him for a petty financial crime?

Yes, there are other solutions, but they take a lot of time. This one honestly shouldn't. People put together GoFundMes for individuals that raise millions in a matter of days. How could this issue not become the biggest version of that ever?

Ask yourself: If you were giving George Floyd your excess income, would he be alive today? Yes, because he would not have used a counterfeit bill.

There is literally nothing stopping you or any other white liberal on this thread from solving the problems you are talking about.

Other than the fact it requires you do do something that will make your life less comfortable.

The number of black people…

The number of black people murdered under Barack Obama began rising in 2015 (up to ~7000 from ~6100 in 2014), peaked in 2016 (7881 black people murdered) and was at 7400 in 2018. 2019 looks like it will see a drop as well.

But these black lives do not matter to the people in this thread. So lets go with the ones that do.

The number of unarmed black people killed by police in 2015 was 78. The number killed in 2019 was 25, of which 11 were likely justified or by off-duty police officers in personal disputes.

But none of this matters.

I've already laid out a plan that does not require revolution and should be simple for white liberals: Renounce your white privilege financially and you can solve this issue within the year. Why is this not a valid option?

If you are white would you…

If you are white would you follow my plan laid out above? And if not why?

Because its not what I…

Because its not what I believe. But you do and you seem to be living in line with that belief, though I'm sure there are things you could still do. I'll restate: the median black household income is $41511. You should figure out what the equates to after your tax situation and live on that. Everything from that point forward should go toward black people in your area.

And I disagree: If the economic situation of black Americans were to improve, the things like lack of respect from authority, unarmed police killings, etc. will go away. Why? Because you wouldn't have the crime produced by poverty which would create less need for the police and thus less police interaction and less bias from the police.

There were 37 million white Americans who voted for Hillary Clinton. You do not need me to achieve this goal.

Are you white? If you are…

Are you white? If you are would you follow the plan I laid out in this thread?

And if not, why?

We (and by we I mean our…

We (and by we I mean our country) have tried all kinds of education reforms.

We have had protests and riots.

We've had all manner of poverty programs.

We've had black leaders call for more policing and then less policing.

We've had black leaders call for strict drug sentencing and then softer drug sentencing.

Practically every corporation has diversity initiatives and departments.

We've put black people in positions of power, increased the number of black role models on TV, etc.

There are all manner of charities and entities that profess to help black people.

We've done it all and from what I can tell on this thread, people still think we are in the same spot.

So why not do the one thing that hasn't been done and just give money to black people? And why shouldn't it come from the people who believe they don't deserve what they have anyway?

What you view as racial…

What you view as racial injustice would end if the socioeconomic conditions of black Americans was improved to that of white Americans.

Why were the cops called on George Floyd? Because he was using a counterfeit bill and the store clerk called the police on him.

He wasn't killed because he was a black man walking down the street and a suddenly a white officer got out  of his vehicle and choked him to death. He was killed because his position in life led to a police interaction that ended in the worst possible way.

Why is this extreme?

I'm…

Why is this extreme?

I'm asking people who believe in something to act on that belief. Okay, you aren't white, but for white people who believe in white privilege, how is this not the easiest solution to the problem? You don't have to wait for legislation to pass or deal with racist Republicans. You don't have to go through ineffective programs where money is siphoned off.

You can directly seek out black people to give your money to. Its money that you have in part because you have white privilege, so what are you really giving up other than something you don't deserve?

I'm sorry man, but I…

I'm sorry man, but I disagree. A few years ago I might have agreed with you, but no longer. There's no nuance to this.

Its direct action and that action is simple: End income/wealth inequality by giving black people your money.

Assuming you are white …

Assuming you are white (though other races can participate as well) would you follow the plan I laid out in this thread to end our main racial issue which is the racial wealth gap?

If not, why?

Is this when literally every…

Is this when literally every metric is equal? From unarmed people killed by the police to home ownership to representation in the media?

Assuming you are white, what…

Assuming you are white, what is your income and would you follow the plan I laid out below? And if not, why not?

Okay here is an answer:…

Okay here is an answer: Every white person who voted for Hillary Clinton could end our race problems tomorrow. Do you want to know how?

You could give black people your money.

You believe in white privilege. If you truly believe in it, then what you have is at least partially unearned due to your whiteness. So why not give it black people?

Take the median black income and for 10 years, everything you make over that number, give it to black people.

Sell everything you have that is excessive and give the proceeds to black people. Second home? Car? Either sign the deed over to a black person or sell it and give them the money.

For that 10 year period, change your beneficiary on any retirement plan or insurance policy and name a black person.

This is direct action. It does what nothing else we have tried will do: It will equal the economic outcome for black Americans to that of white Americans.

You do not have to wait for racist Republicans to solve the problem.

Donating money to organizations is pointless. Its been done. Its the racial version of trickle down economics. Donating your time is bullshit. Decolonizing your bookshelf doesn't do a damn thing.

Think about it from the event that has us all talking about this: If a UM grad white person was giving Floyd George 50,000 a year would he need to use a counterfeit bill to pay for anything?

So why not?

Okay, so what does that look…

Okay, so what does that look like?

When its over, how do we know?

1. We've already decreased…

1. We've already decreased the number of police killings of unarmed black people from 78 in 2015 to 25 in 2019. Do you think this speeds up a process that is already taking place? This seems plausible.

2. This is a common refrain: Does it actually work toward the main issue here which is creating equal outcomes between black and white Americans?

Two questions:

What is the…

Two questions:

What is the goal of the protestors? What does progress look like?

What are you as an individual doing to achieve this goal?

It's not that hard is it?

People are working to see if UV light can be used inside of humans:

https://aytubio.com/healight/

Media/Blue checkmarks were mocking Trump for saying this, but then just let it slide away when it started showing up on social media as a real thing. They then doubled down on "he said ingest Lysol to cure COVID19, what an idiot!!"

So if disinfectant (like UV light)  kills the virus on a surface is there a way to use it to kill the virus inside of a human being?

Is there? Probably not. But its fucking hysterical to act like Trump wondering aloud here about disinfectant is so out there when our best weapon against cancer is to poison someone and hope that it kills the cancer without killing the person.
